Stayed here on a 4-night business trip last fall on the recommendation of a colleague - SO GLAD I DID!
What a treat to stay at such a gorgeous, classy place by myself! I felt soooo special in this lobby! It looks kind of like the Waldorf Astoria - same sort of feel. I have to say that my favourite thing about this hotel seems to be the same thing others are displeased with... I LOVE the fact that this hotel has an old feel - it's vintage, retro, classic 1929 New York Style. I especially loved the elevators! Old NY at its best!
At 31st & 7th (on the east side of 7th), it's right across from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden and just down the street from Macy's & the Empire State Building. The proximity to Broadway was another reason I booked it, and you will find it's even closer than you thought!
I was in a one-bedroom suite on the 7th floor and it was simply divine. I had a living room, full kitchen, bathroom and separate bedroom with king bed. Did I mention it was absolutely DIVINE? The bedding was spectacular, the bed itself incredibly comfortable, and get this: you have six pillow choices:
1. Feather & Down Blend Pillow (the default option)
2. Sound Pillow (you plug your ipod/mp3 player into it)
3. Hypoallergenic Pillow
4. Magnetic Therapy Pillow (?)
5. Buckwheat Pillow
6. Swedish Memory Pillow
You can even choose before you arrive and have it waiting in the room. I chose the hypoallergenic pillow. AWESOME.
Bathroom freebies? ALL AVEDA! Thank you, ye Hotel Gods. Refilled every day, if you want. Loveliness in bottles.
The Affinia Manhattan has their own flavour of Snapple... which is offered free upon arrival - I think it was called "Big Apple Snapple". I enjoyed a glass each of my subsequent trips through the lobby!
Their concierges are FABULOUS. The doormen are lovely. The housekeeping is meticulous, and they leave an Affinia King Kong stuffie on your pillow! The entire staff is worth the visit in itself.
Niles NYC is the restaurant/bar/lounge on the ground floor, and I entertained here two of the four nights. I'll post this stuff in a separate Niles review as well...
Let's talk Manhattan Martinis. Have you found any GREAT LOCATIONS with a FABULOUS ATMOSPHERE and GORGEOUS FOOD offering MARTINIS for UNDER $10??? Well here, they are nearly all under $10 somehow. And let me tell you, they make a KILLER Cosmo. I also sampled a lovely bellini with champagne, peach schnapps and blood orange puree that was like no other drink I have had since. INCLUDING fabulous Bellinis all over Italy and France.
Tried the bar snack pizzas - both were yummy! Ther Margherita with just tomatoes & basil was simple but perfectly prepared & presented. Even better was the Rustic Pizza: "artichokes, roasted tomatoes, kalamata olives and caramelized onions on rustic crust" - it was crispy, flavourful, perfect late-night snack!
Went for lunch only once, but I tried: the Mesclun Salad:
"grape tomatoes, edamame, cucumbers, pepitas and crispy
onions with lemon herb vinaigrette" and the lobster bisque. Again, not disappointed!
The ONLY thing I can be negative about is that you have to pay for wireless access in your room. It's expensive, too! Not that I was paying for it, but it's $14.95 per 24 hour period, $62.95 for 5-7 days, PLUS tax!
I definitely HOPE to stay here again someday!

So I booked the Affinia on Priceline for $100 a night. That said I probably shouldn't complain, but ....
When I booked, i checked off "4 star hotels". This is NOT a 4 star hotel. Maybe someone else's room is 4 star caliber, but this room is pretty drab and the bathroom and kitchen are not places i want to spend any time in. Our studio room is on the 3rd floor and the honking etc is quite loud. Neither phone in our room works, so if you need to get an extra pillow etc a trip downstairs in your PJs is in order.
It is nicely located for tourists, and they do have Aveda products, but i think next time I'll take my chances on a nicer boutiquier place
A Cheap Price but it's a CHEAP HOTEL!! Tourist Beware!!
This is a older hotel that needs a lot of renovation so don't let the pictures fool you with the upscale look of their lobby and the size of the room. As cliche as it sounds, size and looks aren't everything.
When I first arrived, I checked into a 1 bedroom suite and was later informed that this was not my room. I was shocked and very disappointed when I was down graded to a studio. The 1 bedroom is pretty decent but still outdated in terms of design.
The studio is smaller than what you see in the pictures. The bathroom and kitchen is super small. The overall feeling is compared to stay in run down Motel 8. The kitchen appliances are very outdated with a 1980's feel.
The location is great however you'll have to pay the price when you go to sleep. Although this is NYC and you are bound to be accompanied by honking cars and sirens but having it go off every 30 minutes is something to reconsider. Remember you are staying at a tourist attraction which comes with high traffic. A lesson to be learned is not to stay in a hotel that has high traffic even if it is a convenient area in terms of subway access. Also it's super hard to get to the Lower East Side of the City.
The staff were incompetent. First they gave me the wrong room. Requesting for more towels took only 2 hours. Internet service is $15...PER DAY!! As I was checking out, I told them I had a horrible experience and they did their normal routine which was giving me a business card and call them the next time I was staying so they can upgrade my room. This is all a trick / lie. All hotels cannot do that b/c you are giving away someone elses room.
There are other better, trendier, hotels for the same price as this. You can get better service, quieter, and a nicer room such as Carlton on Madison Ave. I would not stay here again.
Tourist Beware!!
Little strange. Can be very loud at all times since it's right by madison square garden. The fitness center is quite nice, much better than some other hotels but they don't have any restrooms nearby. You either have to go downstairs and walk through the lobby (gym = sweaty, remember) or go all the way back up to your room. The elevators are horrible, they are slow and it's unclear which elevators go to what floors and none of the lights on top of the elevators (the ones that are supposed to DING when it arrives) work. The bellhops are also quite unfriendly and useless. But honestly, it's not bad - it's clean and some rooms are spacious and it's in a good location.
Great location! Right across from Madison Square Garden! The hotel is older but it was clean and comfortable enough.
The bathrooms - yes, I had two in my "suite" were both tiny but everything worked which is not always the case in older Manhattan hotels. The amazing thing was that I had a full kitchen - stove, fridge, cooking utensils, the works.
I'd pick either the Hampton Chelsea or Hampton Times Square over the Affinia but would stay here again if those were not available.
We got a good deal through priceline, so bear in mind, that greatly added to my positive experience. The reception area is pleasant, and the staff is attentive. The building is a bit outdated. Our room was quite large, with two queen sized beds. The pillows even had an input so that you can listen to your iPod through the friggin pillow. I would recommend getting a room on a higher floor to avoid being disturbed by the busy street traffic below. If you're a tourist, the location is ideal: in the fashion district, and within walking distance from the theater district. MSG, Macy's and the Empire State Building are also within walking distance. Also, close to the A, C, E, making it easy to get downtown or uptown. Plus, Penn Station is literally less than a 5 minute walk, and the 1, 2, 3 are on the walk toward Herald Square(with the B, D, F, V, N, R, W) which isn't that much farther from Penn. On the negative side, the area is known as being a wasteland for food options.
3 stars for the experience, but I am upping to 4 because of the sweet deal we got.
For the great rate that we got on priceline, we definitely enjoyed staying here! The location was great, the subways were all easily accessible, the Empire State Building was within walking distance, and the Madison Square Garden was right outside our window! We also arrived from DC in the Boltbus, and the drop off location was just a couple blocks away from our hotel.
The downside was the extremely small bathroom. The shower was definitely not made for two people! Don't expect to be able to move if you have more than one person in the shower though hah.
If you're on the street side of the building, there's a lot of honking and sirens going on throughout the night and in the morning. It didn't wake us up in the middle of the night since we were exhausted from the day's events, but it did wake us up in the morning. So prepare for that!
We did enjoy the room service though. They did our dirty dishes for us! We also made use of the free City Walking Tour kit too! It came with helpful and handy cards with must-see sites that we brought around with us. The cards even told us which subway lines to take to the site! Extremely helpful!
We'd definitely stay here again!
Excellent customer service, great beds, location...and best of all, great value. I'd stay here again...no doubt about it!
Affinia Manhattan, quick and dirty lowdown:
* small rooms: Um hi. Me + three of my most high maintenance friends + ridic amounts of luggage = mad crammage
* bathrooms: did not help the aforementioned problem
* pleasant decor: luxurious lobby, simple but elegant rooms
* fabulous location: You have nearly all of NYC at your doorstep!
* adorable mini-kitchens (complete with pots, pans, plates, cups, and utensils): I made like a broke college student, stopped by Trader Joe's, and whipped up some pre-dinner dinner (yes, we are that ravenous).
While it was definitely a good stay, I wouldn't return to Affinia anytime soon; there are just so many other choices in NYC!
A year later, I visited the Affinia Manhattan again. As I said in my last review, this is not a ritzy chain hotel like a Hilton or Sheraton. But they've done some really great things to make a very old building very comfortable. And the training and friendliness of the staff are unlike any other hotel I've experienced.
This year my room was much better with fabulous bedding and comfort. The Internet in the room also worked very well (a bit pricey at $13.95/day).
The convenience is unmatched, just across from MSG and Penn Station. For example, I left my room at 6:25 a.m., walked across to catch the LIRR to the AirTrain, and was through security at JFK by 7:25 a.m. All for just $10.
Don't go in with expectations of grandeur, but a nice, comfortable hotel, conveniently located with extremely good staff.

Location is PERFECT! You can walk to all the Manhattan hot spots - 5th ave., times square, MSG, many great bars and restaurants + so much more!
The hotel's decor is very nice - not real modern though, but it is after all an 80 year old building.
Their is a restaurant/bar downstairs - looked nice, but never made it in to eat/drink - shit, I'm in NY - not gonna spend my time in the hotel!
Their rooms are really nice. The bed was HUGE and sooo comfy - me and my boyfriend barely noticed each others presence in bed it was that big! The little kitchen was a nice touch, though we only used it to store water and left over pizza.
The only flaw to this place was the bathroom - it was so TINY!!! People are not exaggerating when they say you could use the toilet, wash your hands in the sink and wash your feet in the shower - all at the same time! But, hey - really, are you in NY to spend your time in the shower/bathroom? Plus, I knew going into this that the bathroom would be small - all the reviews said so.
All in all - I got a great deal on http://Hotels.com for this place and it was well worth it, plus some!
Would definitely book at this hotel again - even if could brush my teeth while taking a..... ;)

I stayed here for a romatic weekend with my wife and for the price it was unreal. First off, the location is prime, being directly across the street from Madison Square Garden and near Macys on 3ist st. The service and staff are very nice and the accomodations are very nice although the rooms are like a closet, NY isnt the place to stay in the room all day anyway. If you want a clean room with a comfortable bed in a prime location, thkis is the place. I would highly recommend this hotel seeing it is about 70-80 dollars cheaper then even the Hampton Inn down the street and some of the other dive hotels in the city. Do youself a favor and look this place up. I think it is worth the trip and the visit. Its all about price in NYC
I've stayed at this hotel a few times for business before I moved to NYC - its a really great deal, as the rooms seem to almost always be underpriced compared to surrounding hotels. Rooms are very large, and suite style with a kitchenette and table. Some of the rooms are slightly dated, but overall they are of good quality. As others have mentioned, the pillow menu is fantastic - I couldn't decide which one to choose and they just sent up all four!
Definitely tap the concierge center in the middle of the lobby - they are knowledgeable and really friendly. They also offer free themed "experience kits", for example the shopping kit has maps of notable stores, coupon books, insider designer sales tips, etc. They have a whole kit for kids in NYC too, which is great. You can't beat this place for its location and convenience to Madison Square Garden and Penn Station - and for such big rooms at an inexpensive price.
FYI: ask for a room on the back side of the building, facing the interior (aka not facing towards 7th ave) for a quieter stay!

So I've been at the Affinia for the last week and still have one week left. Everything has been awesome so far! The service here is the best I have ever received at any hotel. I get to choose from four different pillows from a "pillow selection card." I mean, come on! That is total rockstar level service which is included with every room.
I am staying in a one bedroom suite that is enormous. Living room, couch, kitchen, desk, dining table, king sized bed, two TVs and two bathrooms. Not to mention, this was CHEAPER than every single recommendation I received from our company travel agency. So the price can't be beat if you get the weekly/corporate rates. It is more or less a one bedroom apartment. I think all the rooms actually might be suites.
As for the general hotel, things seem to be a bit older than other hotels I have stayed in. However, I could really care less if my dresser is a bit older/busted when I have: a) an enormous suite b) awesome service and c) a comfortable bed. Really, that's all I care about when I am traveling.
I would have given it five stars had it not been for no wireless, a busted data port (they let me switch rooms without a problem) and paying for Internet. These things should be free these days! Then again, every hotel I have stayed at has charged ridiculous rates for Internet.

I stayed here in mid-October, 2007, for three nights. I was in town on business.
Things I liked about the Affinia
- great central location
- very friendly staff
- beautiful lobby
- little kitchenette in my room, so I could bring back extra NYC pizza and microwave it later
- really large room, maybe the biggest hotel room I've ever stayed in (see below, however)
- very reasonable room service food prices
Things I didn't like about the Affinia
- smallest bathroom I've ever seen; I'm guessing they crammed a sink, toilet, and walk-in shower into a space about 8 feet long by 4 feet wide
- it's an old, old building (1927) and the rooms reflect that; it really needs to be modernized
- it's right near a fire house, so you have noise issues
I would consider staying here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice in the area.

OK so this hotel would not have been my first choice of hotels to stay at on this trip. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice hotel, spacious rooms, nice staff, and all that good stuff....BUT it's right in the middle of what has to be one of the busiest parts of Midtown...and it's right around the corner from a fire station....and every morning and night, I was reminded of that!
The shower stall was so small I could barely turn around in it- and I'm only 4'11!!! The bathrooms could have been a bit bigger, a tub would have been nice too.
Everything else was great! The staff was super friendly, the room was clean, even had a little kitchenette with a stove, refrigerator/freezer and a sink to wash dishes.
If you like being in the middle of the hustle and bustle, stay here...there's never a dull moment. My company put me here for the convenience of being right across the street from the office, and I appreciate that. But for someone who has never visited NY before and is not used to the utter chaos that IS this place, I wouldn't recommend it...

The Affinia is prime real estate, IMO. So close to Penn station. My friends and I were lucky enough to get a room overlooking the street, so we could people watch inside.
The lobby was gorgeous, but who spends time in the lobby? More importantly, our room was fairly large with two full sized beds (very comfy) and a sofa bed. The decor was pretty but nothing breathtaking. It was clean, of course, but you should expect a hotel room to be clean. We had a small kitchenette. Our bathroom was tiny. While I'm sure it partially has to do with it being NYC, I've stayed at other hotels in NYC with larger bathrooms. All in all that doesn't really matter to me, but I suppose it could be a concern to some.
If anything, I'd probably stay here again because of location and the staff.

I had to stay here because my company's "usual" NYC hotel was booked up and my trip was last minute.. At least it was only 2 blocks from my company's HQ, which made my walk to / from the office ridiculously easy.
When my co-worker and I checked in the young ladies at the Front Desk flirted with us 'cause they figured out we were high rollin' Left Coast bizness dudes with expense accounts ("I've always wanted to go to California...How long you in town for... What are you doin' in Noo Yawk..")... I wasn't interested, but my co-worker got a phone number with his room key. Front Desk service: 5 Stars!
Despite the impressive lobby, the room was very average.. It was tired and faded.. The t.v. cart was banged up.. There was a dated kitchenette with a small gas stove, sink, full size 'fridge (that rattled), etc... The room was dirty along the edges (aka half ass housekeeping).. and I noticed a dead cockroach in a corner... Also, there was a teddy bear on the pillow with a tag telling guests how they could purchase it... I would have preferred a bit more attention to upkeep versus the chance to buy a piece of junk tsotski from the comfort of my room.
That being said, it was simply a place to sleep and I wasn't there much due to work and work meetings and work socializing.. and it was easy to find after the work socializing since it's across the street from Madison Square Garden. Room service b'fast arrived right on time and it did the job.
It was obvious the building had been apartments at one time, not only because of the kitchens, but because of the old school mail slots next to the elevators that had dropped outgoing mail down to the lobby. The History Geek in me thought it must have been a pretty high falutin' apartment building back in its day, considering its location.. If those walls could talk...
Now if they would only train their staff in how to use a vacuum cleaner properly... 'cause they got the flirtin' part down.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, and the room was far better than I had expected given the price ($160 on priceline). The location worked perfectly for my needs, and it is literally across the street from where the bus (Vamoose from DC) stops.
Overall Impression:
(2.5 stars) If you want something functional at a relatively decent price, this could work for you. If you need modern touches (say, something from within the last 15 years) and any kind of glamor vibe, keep looking.
I had stayed at another Affinia property a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it (think it was either the Dumont or the Shelburne Murray Hill). Sleek room plus a small kitchenette at a comparatively great price. So I was a little disappointed when I got into room 1616 at Affinia Manhattan. While the lobby may give off some grand airs, the room transported me to a 1980s roadside motel in Maine. Old TV, old a/c, awful old 'window treatments', old light fixtures. Ugh. In fairness, this was late at night, and during the day with the shades up and the windows open it has a much nicer feel. But the immediate impact of walking in at 10pm after your cab ride from LGA can take the spring out of one's step.
Definitely not a top choice, but in the current hotel climate where rooms at the W next week are quoting $900/night, this is a sane, serviceable option.
Highlights / Lowlights:
What was great
Kitchenette - Not because it is especially nice, but just because I love having a kitchen when I travel. Making some coffee in the morning. Pulling some milk out of the fridge for cereal. Grabbing a beer and watching SportsCenter. Little things make it feel a bit less like you're away from home. Not to mention it can be 15 times less expensive than room service. Especially when there is a nice market 2 doors down the block on 7th Ave.
Front Desk - Friendly, helpful and smooth. Randomly had a little self-serve picnic like dispenser of Snapple cran-apple or something when I checked in. Odd, but nice gesture.
The Internets - Reliable, decent speed.
What wasn't so great
Furnishings - Everything in the room had seen better days. The desks could have been salvaged from a not-so-well-off estate sale. TV was a 25" old school model. In general it had the feel of a 2-star, out of the way discounted joint you might accidentally fall into while trying to do Europe on a tight budget. Wasn't what I expected for $420/night directly across from Madison Square Garden.
The Scorecard:
Two Critical Questions
Would I stay here again?
If it was $200/night cheaper than other options again, sure.
Was it good value?
Only relatively speaking.
Essentials
Space - good size rooms
Service - good and friendly
Bed - comfortable
Bath - okay, somewhat small
Workspace - okay to below average; desk is tiny
Amenities
Kitchen - good, useful if outdated. Note: the cleaning service will tidy up used dishes for you, which is nice.
Room service - N/A
TV - okay
Fitness center - great selection of cardio machines and free weights, possibly the most modern aspect of the entire property
Star scoring key:
5 = Spectacular
4 = Better than average, really enjoyed it
3 = Average, don't regret it
2 = Disappointing
1 = Abysmal

I loved staying here. We ended up here because of a free trip we had won, and the Affinia was the hotel that we had the voucher for. We added a night out of our own pocked and really dug the place. It's right across the street from MSG, so if you're going to an event there, I can think of no better place. Everything we wanted to do was easily walkable or subwayable from here. The staff was super friendly, and the lobby was always gorgeously air conditioned. We didn't use room service at all, but the cleaning staff was always attentive and did a great job. I feel bad because they even washed the dirty dishes we left in our sink one day! The bathroom was a bit too small, but if you're double jointed, the toilet might be comfortable. No complaints besides that. I'd stay here again.

Ahhh, the Affinia. Sometimes, I feel like you are my second home. Your gold-leaf and mirrored lobby welcomes me back after a long, turbulent flight. Thankfully, your staff is always friendly and you are in a great location. I am never far from where I need to go when I stay with you. Why, though, must your rooms have giant - and useless - kitchens but small bedrooms and bathrooms? Do people really cook meals when staying in Manhattan? Anyway, keep up the good work and please continue to put the stuffed gorilla on my pillow.

I didn't think I was that picky! Let's just say I don't plan on staying at the Affinia Manhattan anytime soon. I'll give them their due though, the lobby was beautiful, although gilded in gold-leaf would be more accurate. The staff was great - friendly, courteous and gave great suggestions. The big drawback on the Affinia was the rooms. Every room was a little bit different. I had a room with a huge kitchen (but very outdated) a hard mattress and the tiniest broom-closet like bathroom I have ever, ever seen. Not to get too personal, but from where I was sitting you could turn on and off the sink, stick your feet in the shower and almost touch the bed. It was horrible. My single bed dorm bathroom was bigger.

Just got back from a 5 night trip to NYC. It was my first time. I was going with my divorced parents whom are 70 years old and still friends. However, sharing a cramped room for 5 nights all together may get too cozy for three's comfort.
My requirements for a hotel consisted of:
Somewhere midtown manhattan near times square
1 bedroom suite:
one king bed
one sofa bed in separate room
two tv's
a bathroom
microwave, small fridge
OR
2 Queen Beds in one standard hotel room
I will start with finding two queen beds in a standard room in NYC....uhhhh not many to be found! Most are 2 full size (double) beds and I had no desire of sleeping with my mother in a full size bed. Queen would be pushing it. We were too cheap to just get two rooms because we were trying to do this trip on a budget in the first place. Hilton Garden Inn had two queen beds... and it looked decent in price and location. Also Embassy suites looked great but wasn't thrilled with location.
I next found the Doubletree Guest Suites in Times Square which is what turned me on to the idea of the suite with 1 king a sofabed. It looked fantastic in every aspect. I had decided to take this route. I read a few reviews saying it could be noisy because it was a kid friendly hotel but I didn't care because I would be able to give each of my parents space so they would enjoy the trip more.
I waited too long to book at the 349.00 per night rate I found at the Doubletree. I was bummed. It was up to 429.00 a night. Okay we are not rich. We were going to check out shows and so I knew we couldn't spend that much money so back to the drawing board.
In comes email from Travelzoo... Affinia Manhattan for 259.00 per night! I was like no way... across the street from Madison Square Garden, 3 blocks from Macy's at Christmas Time, 12 blocks from Times Square (or 1 subway station with 2 70 year olds in tow)... how could we ask for anything more?
I booked the room for two people...they never charged me for the third person ($20 extra each night). They upgraded our room to the 22nd floor with 2 bathrooms. This room was larger than my condo! The bedroom had two closets...we were in room 2214 with a direct shot of the Empire State building in its red and green splendor! It was magnificent....if you didn't look at the furniture. The furniture is okay if it weren't so worn and tattered, it isn't that out of style, just worn and old. The rooms really need some work. They need to be remodeled. The kitchen cabinets were old, made from tin. The bathrooms were tiny which is fine but ours had peeling wallpaper . The rooms in general had dingy paint and old dingy wallpaper. They need new window coverings and some cheery colors in the rooms. Lastly, my room was haunted. It had to have been. The damn window kept opening about 6 inches in the bedroom and it was 30 degrees outside. Freezing! It opened once in front of my face. Now, it could have been gravity pulling it downward...but I don't know.
Now, the positives, price, location and the lobby is gorgeous and the staff was outstanding! The convenience of the suite for the price can't be beat. Lastly.... AVEDA BATH PRODUCTS!
Okay okay I am almost done. My number one thing I was happiest with....no bugs. The beds were comfy and everything was clean and there were no creepy bugs.
I'd visit again, although if I ever go back with no need for a suite I would step it up a notch.

I stayed from Oct. 15 - Oct. 18, and it was one of the greatest hotel experiences I've ever had. I slept very comfortably with their great selection of pillows and soft bed sheets. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. This was my first stay at Affinia, but my second time in New York, and I would definitely stay here again. If I had one issue, it would be the rough towels. They were not very soft at all.

We booked a studio in Affinia Manhattan via Expedia for three nights. Since we have two little children, we thought it would be nice to have a little kitchenette in the room (We ended up not using it at all as restaurants were really easy to get to).
The hotel is quite old and shows its past glory. However, it can really use some serious make-over.
We had two rooms in addition to a very tiny bath and a reasonable size kitchenette. The air conditioners were very noisy; we had to turn them off in order to sleep at night.
The sound insulation is very poor. One can hear the plumbing system inside the wall right behind the headboard of the bed. Every shower or flushing of the toilet generated extremely loud noise. It was not possible to sleep without using ear plugs.
I stayed here for a conference last month, and overall, thought it was a good hotel. The room was small, especially the bathroom, but it was about what I expected for a New York hotel room. And how much time do you spend in the hotel room, anyways? It needed some up-dating, but for the price, it was really good. I tend to form an opinion on a hotel really quickly when I see the brand of bath products they carry. Affina carries Aveda, so right away, that's a big plus!
The staff members are all friendly and helpful. They gave us some good restaurant recommendations, too. I'd recommend it if you will be in the city for a few days and need a central place to stay. The convenient location and price can't be beat.

The biggest reason why I like staying here is the staff - they are always so courteous and accommodating. They are genuinely nice.
The rooms do vary (some small, some huge) and I admit they are outdated, but I'm used to that in NYC. I like that the rooms have a small kitchen in case I get any late night munchies. And the location is super convenient.
BUT, if you're looking for a chic boutique hotel, this isn't it. What the Affinia offers is great service, convenience and a good location.
Update - I lowered my rating a star because the hotel is located next to a fire station, so be sure to ask for a room away from it or at least a high floor.
