I love this place!!! We had breakfast and it was divine! My husband ordered island crepes and I had a tomato egg Benedict. So delicious!!! Then on our way out we picked out handmade gourmet chocolates to go. I want to eat here every day!!!!

One of the most complete pastry shops in the city, you can find cheesecakes, cakes, and truffles at Affairs. You will find every type of torte or cake you desire: Tiramisu, black and white cake, carrot cake, and many variations of choco/coffee/mocha tortes. You can order whole cakes, they average about $40 for a large.
I find the baked goods adequate/very good, but I don't crave them. The last whole cake I bought, a chocolate decadence, was okay. But it didn't outshine a girlfriend's store bought chocolate torte that appeared at the same party. (I watched them get eaten at the same rate and without many comments pro/con for either. But my cake cost 3x more...so I'm expecting something!)
We used to eat here regularly. A couple of ok meals and then a horrendous Mother's Day brunch ended our "regulars" status. Someone else called it Euro Bistro style, which is about right...but I'd add the word "ersatz" before it. The food is average in general, but very good in comparison to similar establishments in the area. It can be pricey for a casual lunch, averaging about $15, when all is said and done.
Solid, but lacking much soul.Listed in: Bakery Wars: Tacoma

Love this place! They make the best breakfast! I had strawberry crepes and they were exactly like the ones I used to eat when I lived in Europe. Their prices are really reasonable and the service is top notch. The truffles are worth every penny!!!

BEST breakfast date place EVER! The food here is amazing! Food orgasm! Seriously! It's a hole in the wall bakery, if you blink you'll miss it, but the menu is like a foodie's dream come true! Asparagus? Seriously? For breakfast! Yum! Omg. I love, love, love this place. Very chill. Staff is friendly, prices are good.

I have yet to dine here, but I sure LOVE to buy desserts and chocolates here!! If you're ever looking for a small token of appreciation, come pick out some truffles. They put them in cute little boxes with a ribbon. Not only are they beautifully packaged but they're BIG and DELICIOUS. There's a HUGE variety to pick from too and soooo pretty! :)
I've also had their bread pudding!! YUUUM! And their cupcakes are to DIE FOR. Firm cake, like a donut! Believe it- cake and donut in ONE- WINNER. I've never had one SOOOO good!!! WOW!! They're worthy of raving!! Everyone I know does! Go there and INDULGE yourself, you'll be so delighted! :)
They also serve breakfast and lunch and I've been told it's just as good as their desserts!!! -

This place is average. AVERAGE. I think there is a lot of hype about it because there isn't much like it in the area so people have nothing to compare it to. I grew up in Washington state and moved to Washington, DC (via Chicago) and must state that although they offer some selection, this place is, again, AVERAGE. I should knock them down to 2 stars because the few times I have been there the service has been HORRIFIC. In fact, I went there with my little niece who was 4 at the time and the waiter said "damn" in front of her after she dropped a meal.
If you're looking for AVERAGE. Come here. -

A great little spot for whatever you're hungry for. Beautiful chocolate, cakes, scones, muffins in the bakery, and wonderful breakfast.
I tried a skillet, and all the ingredients were very fresh and the veggies were all very crisp. It was the great kind of breakfast where you're eating something substantial and proteinaceous but you don't feel all greased out.
I also tried a huckleberry pancake, single stack. It was soft and fluffy. The berries were mixed into the batter and I thought this made the taste a little duller than if they had just poured them on top.
You pay a fair price for the quality of the food you get here. The only things I missed were the side dishes. Where is the free toast? English muffins? A slice of bacon? -

This is great for any meal of the day.
My boss took my co-worker's and I here for lunch, and I will say I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a huge fan of their homemade "Ranch" dressing.....but they have the Best Reuben in town. The deserts are good (I would prefer they didn't use salted butter in the Red Velvet cupcakes, but they are still delicious...you just taste the salt a little bit)
Overall, the Service was great, my food was great....and I tried a few other things that were delicious. I will definitely return! -

Met up with a high school friend for a week-day morning breakfast. We were greeted by a tempting display case full of their own, hand-made pastries and desserts. Their staff was friendly, the service was quick and the prices were decent. We ordered their pancakes du jour of pumpkin pancakes...the BEST I've ever had. We also had their veggie skillet with perfectly fluffy scrambled eggs. My only complaint was that there were too many potatoes (80%) and not enough veggies (20%) in the skillet. Will definitely come again in hopes of getting the pumpkin pancakes.

We preordered a cake here, red velvet duo, and while it was nicely decorated and ready on time it really didn't taste very good. $30 for a small cake, it had better taste great. Everyone scraped their icing off and threw it away, and no one wanted the other half of the cake, so that was dumped, too.

Very nice Euro-style deli with a fresh interior and a semi romantic flair. Definitely the spot to go for a romantic lunch date.
The service is fairly quick, the portions and large enough to satisfy and the foods presentation and taste is pleasant, fresh and taste great for the price, the deserts can be rather rich depending on what you get. Warning: the coffee is European Coffee so it may be a little stronger that your use to. -

One of the best local bakeries around! I've purchased all the best things here from my daughter's Sweet 16 cake here to Anniversary deserts and cakes, or just a special treat for my wife.

Affairs, owned and managed by Gay Landry, began as a chocolatier. Gay added more and more - cakes, pastries, pies, etc. - and finally put in a few tables. She eventually added a luncheon menu. Now she's open on Sundays for breakfast/brunch, and she is also open on special occasions. There is NOTHING that is less than wonderful. Check out her fruit scones. Dungeness crab Benedict is another favorite. I try not to drive past Affairs because, like the Sirens, the call is irresistable. Try it once, and you'll return over and over again.

Weirdest dining experience I've had recently. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was quaint, the ingredients were fresh, however, the food had no flavor. It was as bland as sandpaper. I'll give it another shot before I give up on it.
