Dr. Castaneda is a knowledgeable professional through and through. Over six years, she has fixed my bite, given me the most realistic yet beautiful veneers ever, and cutting-edge implants. She is a bit on the costly side, but she does great work. Admittedly, you might find someone cheaper to do more dental HEALTH related work, but probably not with the same eye for aesthetics.
To boot, I am very particular about the front office since they set the tone for the visit, help with insurance, arrange appointments, etc. I have to compliment Dina for making everything so easy and pleasant. She has the best attitude, is prompt, gracious, intelligent and professional. -

I never thought a dentist could be glamorous until I met Dr. Castaneda. She also has a mellow, maternal vibe that puts you instantly at ease-- helpful when you're trying not to drown on your own saliva while having all of your fillings removed and replaced.
Her dental hygienists and front desk staff are also great. They've been oh-so-patient with my constant rescheduling. Dr. Diamond is wonderful for twice-yearly cleanings-- a warm-hearted, avuncular tsk, tsk-er (I promise I'll buy that Sonicare!) -

I had VERY badly damaged teeth from years of grinding. The daily shisha smoking didn't do much for their pearlescence, either. (Indeed, my GF nicknamed the old teeth--crackie, chip-chip, half-pint, etc.) Rebecca provided me with a few treatment options, and we ultimately agreed to 13 crowns/veneers (7 top and 6 down) along with some other ancillary treatments. I am pleased with the result, although the process itself was not without some pain.
PROS: The new teeth look and feel great, which was my ultimate goal. Rebecca and her staff (Kiki and Sonia) were helpful (or at least tried to be) and responsive. They are sensitive to the discomfort that accompanies the process.
CONS: The process was long and VERY expensive. On most of my visits my appointment started a little late (a minor inconvenience, even for someone as high-strung as I am). I found that Rebecca's follow-up care is not nearly as focused as the care provided while a primary patient. No in-office shisha. -

I was a patient of Dr. Castaneda for a couple of years. I originally went to see her for some work on a front tooth, which obviously requires skill and artistry. I am very happy with the specialty work she did, however I would not recommend her for regular dental work.
I found a new dentist because I felt like she and the office staff were trying to rip me off every time I went in. I have very naturally white teeth, however they would always try to talk me into whitening, and I was bullied into thinking my teeth would rot if I didn't purchase a Sonicare toothbrush.
The office is disorganized and their equipment is sorely out of date. I asked for a line-item estimate for some fillings that needed replacement more than three times over a year after they told me it would cost $1500. They blamed the insurance company for the delay, and then they tried to claim that they needed to rebuild the structure in between the teeth with porcelain and it would cost me $1500. Fifteen hundred dollars for two old fillings!
My new dentist charged me $110 and never batted an eye. And, he explains every cent of every dollar I spend there, and takes the time that Dr. Castaneda never did. -

Dr. Castaneda is phenomenal. She is a perfectionist with a great personality. Your smile will glow because of her expertise and charming personality. I highly recommend her for you dental needs.

My dental work has been in the hands of Dr. Castaneda (and Dr. Berkovich) for about 2 1/2 years. Dr. Castaneda has made sure that the end result is PERFECT - and it is. She is more than a prosthedontist. She's a artist, a scientist, a perfectionist, and mostly, a caring physician who designed my beautiful smile.

Simply ridiculous that fake reviews are bringing this business up to 4 stars. Shame on Yelp. ONE STAR.

Review from Crystal C.
San Francisco, CA
Dr. Casteneda was the least professional dentist I have ever visited. She argued loudly with her front desk staff for 15 minutes while I waited in the chair. Then she took one look at me, offered her opinion, excused herself, and proceeded to bitch out another employee. I left and found another dentist. I don't want to give anyone my money that treats their staff so poorly- especially in front of a customer. And yes, she does dress well.

(UPDATED)
First, Giovanna or Powder P. or whatever your name is, how many times have you reviewed Rebecca Castaneda under different member names?
May I just say that Dr. Castaneda touts her office being "a luxury spa-like facility". If she doesn't want a critique on that side, don't throw it out there as a selling point for your practice and just get to what you can do which in my experience was bad as a patient.
Once again, to my original post...
YIKES!
First, the '80s called and they want their office back! the glass brick walls, and the white, red and black ONLY color theme, one would expect 'The Flock of Seagulls' or some other bad '80s band to walk around the corner to scare the hell out of you before you get your cleaning!
I found Castaneda to be more focused on herself and what she was doing than honestly listening to me and what my needs were.
Sometimes you can feel right away when you walk into an office it is run by a tyrant. I TOTALLY got that vibe in the office and honestly felt bad for the staff.
Like the other reviewer, I found a GREAT dentist who does AMAZING work and a lot less expensive.
For some reason Ms. Castaneda thinks the trapped in the '80s decor is 'spa-like'. Have yourself a good laugh on your lunch break sometime and 'stumble' into the office and act like you got the wrong office, you'll see what I mean and would be WELL worth your effort for a lunch hour chuckle with the girls! :) -

Horrible horrible experience and dentist!
Rebecca Casteneda is all about the money. Over charges my insurance every time and still sends me a bill!
She is always running 20-30 minutes behind. I have had to go back each time for work not done correctly. She has zero integrity with her work or respect for clients.
She does NOT like other women... was rude to me and over heard how she talked to other female clients. Completely disrespectful.
I signed up on Yelp just to write this review.
