We all got little Helicopters for Xmas last year. The Blade type... so you know that we would soon need parts.
I bought some parts online before discovering Perry and his store. Now i am a regular customer too. The selection is top notch but not perfect. There are some Hop-up mods that i saw online that he did not carry.
But i bet he would if he knew his customers wanted them!
A little weird going into the store but his wife sometimes works the register.
My Brother comes with me too and he loves the place.

My son Matthew and I got into RC planes this year after having started with RC cars and trucks first. I had stopped by in the past looking for a particular connector when we were driving the trucks heavily. Since we got into planes, AeroMicro is the only place we go. Perry and his team are always helpful, very knowledgable with the advice on planes, parts, batteries etc. I've compared pricing to some of the hobby internet giants and AeroMicro's pricing is competitive and what a great selection! I'm thankful that we live so close in Santa Clara and many a weekend morning of flying is followed with a trip over to AeroMicro for parts (if we crashed!), or just to peruse the aisles. Thanks again to Perry and the staff at AeroMicro for being here in the South Bay! Support Local!

Oh man!  This is THEEEE place to go for your RC needs - especially heli's and planes.  Excellent customer service AND excellent knowledge.  Forget Sheldon's or D&J's, come here instead it's an oasis for your hobby...or on second thought, don't come here - it's my oasis!  :)

    Amazing place for RC fliers.

Full stocked selection of E-Flite and ParkZone parts.

The parts I needed were in stock and actually cheaper than most online prices.  I will definitely support this local hobby shop.

Perry is the most helpful and honest RC purveyor out there.

I got started in RC quite awhile ago and went to another guy who was more interested in selling expensive RC parts then giving you the right items. Fortunately that person is now out of business - Thank God!

Perry will take the time to point you in the right direction and when he cannot match prices elsewhere he will tell you to buy that as it's a good deal.

One thing keeps me coming back to Perry over and over and that's his honest opinion and the options he gives you to accomplish your RC goal. I can count on him to tell me the truth every time.

As for the folks who complain about getting support on webstore items, get real. Do you go into Sears and ask for help on an item you bought from http://Amazon.com? You get what you pay for....

Perry is a local RC treasure!

I've been flying RC helis and planes now since November 2006. I bought my first bird from Perry and I love this store! I've also been to almost all the other LHS in the area and AM rocks! I've never had an issue with Perry, but I've never had to return something either. I do my homework and make sure of the part I'm buying. I've seen Perry out in the ailes helping customers all the time. He helps me with all my questions, but I usually do my research online first.

Not making an excuse for Perry, but I've seen many nickle and dime customers that whine and demand all of his time explaining things that can easily be found online. Does Ford teach you how to drive your new car? I've seen big ticket customers come in and DEMAND his time for all kinds of little niggly problems. It must be tough. I have worked customer service and it can be tough! Give the guy a break and be courteous!

Whenever I've asked Perry where an item is, he will take me right to it. I have always gotten great service from him and his staff. Maybe it's because I am patient, knowledgeable, and I treat them all like human beings? Perry's return policy is printed on your receipt. Just like opened software, some items cannot be returned. There is always ebay.

I like this store very much and will drive out of my way to shop here because of the great service. I've gotten very rude service at other LHS and will never return.

    Thanks Perry for Aero Micro!

I agree with some of the customers in this site that Perry, the AeroMicro Store owner can be harsh and abrasive and their return policy is the worse in the entire Bay Area. But on the other hand, he is very knowledgeable and able to steer beginners like me in the right direction and their store is one of the best stocked in the area. They got everything! If the owner could develop better social skills and a more client-friendly return policy, I am sure he could make even more money and have more customers than he has now.

I agree with all the reviews that Aeromicro has a great selection and great prices.
Perry and his staff are always willing to help you and give advice on the best plane to buy for your skill level. As a beginner this is very important to me.
They love electric RC and they love what they are doing. You always feel like a first class ace pilot at Aeromicro.
In a land with mail-order and chain stores it is great to get back to the personal attention that only a privately owned store can give.
Perry, thanks for keeping us in the air!

If you are into Radio controlled aircraft and you live in the Bay Area, then THIS IS MECCA! Perry has the best candy shop when it comes to electric radio controlled aircraft kits, parts, and supplies. He is very knowledgeable and has helped many a friend make educated decisions on power and equipment setups. His pricing is better than any other shop I have been to, and the sheer selection is enough to make any modeler  drool.

If you want the latest in hobby technology, check out Aeromicro.

By far, this is THE best rc heli/ airplane shop in the entire Bay Area.  I drive down from Sf just to come here. The owner,  Perry,  is not only friendly but very honest and his staff is extremely helpful. If i have a crash i bring my heli in and in no time at all, I'm flying! Their staff will help you with anything including soldering and trimming out your birds. Do not underestimate or overlook this place. It IS worth the drive and the prices include unlimited support.

I agree with the first reviewer, the proprietor, Perry is a great guy and his store is stocked up with tons of e-flight related stuff.

The great part about the store is I never fail to get good advice when I go in there. The service given by Perry and his staff certainly exceeds all expectations, and I ALWAYS learn something knew about electronics, battery technology or what is going on in the Industry when  walk in there.   I used to visit some other hobby shops in the area but now go to Aeromicro first to see if they have what I want.

I've only visited Aeromicro once, but I found the staff helpful, the store well-stocked, and most importantly, very competitive prices. In fact, the pricing seemed to be roughly the same as Tower Hobbies, which is solely a mail-order / online sales company that generally seems to have the good deals.

Aside from prices, the store also has two flight simulator programs on two computers near the entry; it was fun to test (and crash) a number of really nice model airplanes and helicopters. The physics and reaction of both programs seemed realistic. One of the two programs even used Moffett Field as a backdrop.

I will definitely be coming here again. A solid 4 stars for well above average.

Like the other Yelpers on this site, I've been to several Hobby shops in the Bay Area (even San Antonio Hobby, back in the day!).  Perry has the best prices, selection, and most importantly, advice.  Perry is a veritable expert on electric planes and helis; his tips have helped each plane I've put together, and even saved a few :-)

By far the best LiPo prices you'll find, including online discounters.  And when each purchase comes with top-rate advice, how can you justify going anywhere else?

Wow Takeo E., you give the 7 Bamboo a great review and you fly too?  You gotta say hi next  time you stop by the 7b.

Yeah Aeromicro is an institution for RC flight in the bay area.  They only deal in RC planes.  No boats, no cars, no tanks, no dollhouses, none of that.  Aeromicro is purely about flying.

Since it doesn't suffer from schizophrenia like the other bay area hobby shops that have planes, it's stocked with way more plane stuff than anywhere else.

In addition to new stuff, Perry has a consignment counter.  Want to upgrade your radio but need another $100?  Perry will put your old one in his consigment window.  Don't care if it's used but want name brand top grade parts?  Again check the consignment counter.

Perry carries all kinds of name brands as well as some off beat ones.  GWS, Thunder Power, E-Flite, APC, Hangar 9, Guillows, and many other that would take me a bit more research than I feel like filling in.

Another great thing about Perry, once he recognizes you as a regular, semi regular he'll order stuff for you and call when it comes in, no pre-payment.

There's certain "tinker shops" I love visiting in the bay area, places like weird stuff, halted specialtees because I love the people there.  Aeromicro is one of those shops I try to make an exodous to on a regular basis.

    I had a mixed good/bad experience here.

On Saturday I went in to purchase a radio controller, battery, charger, connectors, and wires.  Perry was very helpful and informative with selecting the items I needed, and I'm quite happy with my purchase.  Later that evening I realized I purchased the wrong connector ends (female instead of male).  Minor mistake, but I didn't catch it until I opened the bag.  I returned the connectors to the bag and set it aside to exchange them the next day.

Unfortunately that's where my good experience ends.  The next day when I attempted to exchange the connectors, Perry wouldn't take them.  I asked why, and he said he just didn't take back open items.  That was very disappointing.  I'm hoping I just caught him on a bad day, because that experience really sucked.  The sub-text of the conversation was "thanks for your $700 yesterday, but you can't return that $4 part".  Sorry, but that action seems very short-sighted since I feel jilted and have several hundred worth of parts I still want to purchase... probably elsewhere.

Summary: Store owner, Perry is Pimptastic!

If you're into RC flight, this is the best store in the Bay Area.  They do nothing but RC aircraft (no boats, no cars).  I've visited most of the hobby stores on the Peninsula and in South Bay and none can match the inventory and selection that AeroMicro has.  They literally have all the best products carried by Horizon, Hobby Lobby, Tower, and every other distributor out there.  The prices are identical to online vendors.  They also have side-by-side kiosks for demo'ing the FS One and RealFlight simulators.

I came in for my second plane and Perry outfitted me with everything I needed and advice on how to build it.  He answered all my questions and also did a full pre-flight check for me when I came back the next week with my E-flite P-47 assembled.  With the help of Don as well, they caught all the mistakes I didn't-- like sloppy aileron response due to a loose control horn, and too much travel on the flight surfaces.  All that made for a fantastic first flight.  Now I'm on my third plane and I'm actually flying a jet!

If you're even thinking of getting into RC flight whether it be airplanes or helicopters, this place has it all.  My only suggestion for improvement is that AeroMicro doesn't take American Express.... damnit. : )  Need those points... especially at the rate of spending I have at this store.

I've been buying RC parts from AeroMicro ever since they were in their original location. Perry and his staff are top notch.

99% of the time they have exactly what I need. The other 1% of the time, they can order it for me and have it in two days. Best part? I don't have to pay shipping!

    Excellent selection.
    Clean & well lit shop.
    Expert customer service.

Truly as good as it gets.

Decided to stop by AeroMicro today to check it out, i needed some pointers on flying since i'm back from my 10yr hiatus.

On walking in i saw a HUGE selection of planes and Heli's, there were a few customers in the store and i had to wait a bit for some help but it was well worth it. i had brought in my Venom Night Ranger II to see if everything was ok, but being that they didn't carry any of the products, Perry didn't want to have too much to do with it, and from a liability standpoint i completely understand, he did walk me through a few steps as to how and what i should do, and being that i've only been in the store at this point for 15 minutes, it saved me HOURS on internet research. During my little peruse, i've noticed ALOT of inventory and the prices were great! i've gone to a few other hobby stores and this one by far has the best prices(without sales or anything!!). They carry the major brands like Eflight and Align and a bunch of others. HUGE battery and parts selection. If you're a flight hobbyist from beginner to expert, this is the place to be, staff is nice and knowledgeable, huge selection and great prices, not sure what more you can ask for? i do wish they carried other brands like Esky and Venom, but since they carry the other brands, i will definitely be switching over just for the support and service!

This place is great. They have all the RC electric stuff you will ever need. If you see it online or in a catalog, Perry has it, but you get to put your hands on it. He's also got the knowledge to help you make good decisions on what works and does not. Go there, don't tell your wife and spend your bonus money.

This place gets my five stars on its own but considering the abundant supply of crappy RC hobby shops in the area (RC Unlimited, D&J, and Hobby Town), this place really stands out.

This place has a vibe similar to Pec's in Mountain View in the old days.

The owner Perry and his staff are knowledgeable so don't be shy to ask their opinions.

Went in here with a complex set of questions with a bare amount of knowledge.  Perry was very helpful in getting me everything I needed and explaining how it all worked, etc.  They have a great shop with lots of inventory.  More importantly the staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable and are never condescending.  The sell you want you need or want and not what they have- if they don't have it they get it super quick.  A++ shop.
