Definitely a great experience. It's always fun to go to Napa and enjoy all the festivities at ground level- like tasting wine, eating good food, tasting wine, etc., but it's super fabulous to see the beautiful Napa valley from 4000 feet.  We were given this great gift as a wedding present and we tried to go October last year but it was too foggy and we weren't going to float over the wineries. We finally got to do it, planning the trip a few days in advance.

If you are not a morning person, this maybe rough for you. The meeting time is at 7am, which means for us locals, we were in our car at 5:45am to get there in time. Or stay at one of the many hotels/inns/ railway cars and roll on in right before it.

You meet in Yountville at the V Market Place and are cheerfully greeted and wait for your time in a reception area where there is fruit and water. Go to the bathroom before you get in the basket.
So they fire the balloon up and you climb in. There was 8 of us, fairly in shape people and you are standing kinda snug for the next hour-20minutes.  It's absolutely beautiful. Nielson gave some fun facts about who owns what vineyard, where Sonoma is, did you know Mount Diablo views are comparable to Mount Killamanjaro(?). Great photo and cuddle opportunities if you are on a date. I mean you are in there.

So the whole steering thing of balloons is non existent so we floated around and our landing was one for the books. We landed in this open marshy area, and our brakes were our pilot Nielson's truck! Yikes. He was a good sport about it all.

You get driven back to the meeting spot and have a breakfast at Pacific Blues (i think) at the Marketplace. Enjoyable food and good conversation with your basket-mates.

*On a side note, they do cancel if it is too foggy. It's kinda just how it works. A few people were postponed til today and the father of this family had to stay back with the young toddler because their babysitters were only available for the other day. :(  But I think it would be an amazing family trip for kids 5 and up and don't have ADD.

I would definitely do it again- not in Napa but on a vacation because you always have to think it's a once in a lifetime event. 5 stars for service, views, and experience. A great wedding gift that won't collect dust or break in a few years.
