Looked at the reviews on Yelp, decided to try this place out. Hooked us up with 2 scooters for an awesome price, so much so we came back the next day. Much cheaper and a ton more fun then a rental car. We took the mopeds to Hanauma Bay, all the way to Pearl Harbor. Will definitely use these guys again if I ever come back to O'ahu. Thanks guys!

Rented scooters here after the place we normally go now only rents motorcycles. I called ahead to ensure there were 2 scooters available to rent all day and the guy on the phone was helpful and said he would call me back in less than 5 min to confirm. He indeed did that and it was appreciated. We walked over from the other location and found this little shop, which is a bit of a hole in the wall...literally. But no problem!
We filled out some basic paperwork and then paid $21.95 each for an all day rental. We also had to mark where the scooters had any scratches or damage, just like you do when you rent a car. The guy then proceeded to give us a walkthrough of how to use the scooter and this is where the rating gets lower. It seemed like a robotic, memorized speech and he was just spewing information (in a mumbly voice) out without even checking for understanding or knowing that we were standing there with a few questions. I did try to interrupt him a few times with questions and he scooted over them (pun intended...haha!). He then sent us on our way and we had many adventures!
No issues with the scooters except they don't go over 30 mph unless you are riding down a steep hill and leaning forward. So, you have to be careful to stay on sidestreets and low speed areas.
So we returned the scooters a bit early because we had a booze cruise to hit in the early evening. Hey, it's Waikiki!! As we returned them, another guy checked us in. This guy did the most comprehensive turn in process I've ever seen in my entire life. He spent a good amount of time examining every inch of my husband's scooter and then even turned it on and rode it a few feet to "test it out". He then asked if he had "run into anything". Ummm...NO!! He then pointed out there were scratches on the front of the scooter and asked again. My husband responded that those were there before we rented it and we actually had marked it on the paperwork when we did the pre walk around. You would think he would go back and HAVE that paperwork with him, upon us returning them, wouldn't you? But no.... he didn't. So then he tells us that we need to go fill up the scooters with gas. Nobody had mentioned that before so we were surprised. Having to get back to Waikiki for our booze cruise, we didn't have time! So he told us it would be $8 each if we wanted THEM to fill them up. We gave him $16 exact cash and he seemed surprised we had "exact" change (almost like he wanted us to give him $20 and then tell him "keep the change", but we didn't do that!). Then we asked if we get any confirmation paperwork that we have turned the scooters in and we're free from any charges (considering how difficult he was upon us returning them...) and he said, "oh no, you're good". Hopefully we don't own 2 scooters that were charged to the credit card!
All in all, scooters were decent and not a horrible experience, but I'm sure there are better places to rent from with better service and better scooters. -

Found this hole in the wall spot on Yelp after finding out that the guy down the block jacked up the prices due to the Labor Day holiday. (The guy was charging $45 for 24h! RIDICS!)
Jack from Adventure Rentals on the otherhand, was GREAT and REASONABLE! He gave us the most thorough orientation and even had each of us practice some "exercises" before we scooted off.
Jack charged us $28 for 24h and even allowed us to turn the mopeds in at a later time than scheduled. Mind you we rented the mopeds on Labor Day weekend and there were 8 of us!
For any first time riders, I highly suggest that you check this place out! We had a really good experience and we definitely will come back to see Jack when we're in Waikiki again!
Mahalo Jack! =) -

Jack is the man. Accidentally found this spot while I was looking for another one. The other place had a yelp deal that was $25 for $24 hrs. Spoke with jack and he said he'd give us the same rate. We ended up keeping the 2 mopeds for 3 days and only filled up once. It was the most convenient way to get around. Jack even let us keep them for an extra hr on the last day.
I'd definitely go back to this place again -

A group of friends and I decided we'd have a themed moped-riding activity one day. My friend did some research online and found that Adventure Rentals in Waikiki had one of the best deals around ($35 to rent the moped all day + $7 insurance), and so she called in and made reservations for the five of us. Although the location was a bit difficult to find (it's this makeshift alleyway looking area - a bit Diamond Head of King's Village on Kuhio Ave) and they didn't offer a lot for us to park our cars in (we carpooled/valet-ed at a nearby hotel), I'd say the fun was well worth it! The majority of us had never ridden mopeds before, but the guy who was working there was very nice and informative about the safety aspect and what to expect in general.
We took the mopeds around Diamond Head, to Kahala, up to Hawaii Kai and back. It was a great way to spend a Sunday :D
Some tips:
- Figure out your parking situation beforehand, whether you wanna pay for valet somewhere or bring coins for street meters
- You might have to wait here and there, as there seems to be only one worker there at a time
- Bring a handkerchief to wear under their (free) rental helmets
- Don't forget to wear sunscreenListed in: "Outside the Box" Fun

Austin, TX
My friend and I came here after reading nightmare stories about another moped rental shop. It also helped that other yelpers have praised this shop. My experience with Adventure Rentals was nothing but great service and I had alot of fun riding around the island.
They offer reasonable prices (cheaper than Austin at least) for rentals. It's $35/24 hrs, which is your best bet. They also have 4 hr. and 8 hr. rentals. Adventure accepts major credit cards as well as cash. You can call in advance to reserve mopeds or walk-in. We went during an off-season so there were plenty mopeds available.
Make sure to take photos of your rental scooter AT the shop. This is your proof that there was no additional damage caused by you when you bring the scooter back. The guys over there are pretty laid back and have no problem of you taking pictures.
They are very thorough with instructing you with how to handle a moped if you're a newbie. They also know moped-friendly roads if you're not familiar with Oahu. Have fun and take photos! -
Review from Mike L.
This was the best idea ever. Most of the southern part of the island is easily accessible via scooter. We rented here in Waikiki and then drove out to Hawaii Kai area for our scuba.
This is an amazing price as well - about $42 with insurance and afterwards, you top off the gas or just pay them a fair $5.
The guy, Mike, who sets you up with the actual scooters is great. We had a group of 7 so he was backlogged a bit since it's a small operation but he is a great guy, making sure everything is in order and you are safe before sending you off. Don't worry, he won't rip you off with time! More than likely, we'd rent from this place again but we'd go earlier so Mike has more time to set us up. -

I rented a bicycle for 1 day while staying at the Hyatt Regency in Wai'kiki Beach. The location is very convenient since it's just a few blocks away from the hotel and their rental prices are very reasonable.
I rented a hybrid-type bicycle which was a cross between a mountain bike and a cruiser. The cycle itself was in acceptable state and suited my purposes well. I cycled around streets and to Diamond Head Monument and had no mechanical problems at all.
My experience went south when I was written a $55 ticket for riding my bicycle 10 feet across a sidewalk as I had seen many other cyclists do both before and after receiving my citation. The police officer referenced the posted no-bicycling signs, but in my search during the remainder of my 6 days, I only saw 1 sign posted along the beachwalk. Although the officer could just have explained the rule to me, he chose to write me a ticket. It's about the money, clearly. I take full responsibility for the ticket, but it would have been VERY helpful had Adventure Rentals mentioned this strict rule enforcement to me. -

Great for the deal.
No bathrooms while you get checked in and you have to walk far to go. It took awhile for us to get checked in because there was only one guy working. -

My friends and I looked around at a couple of different moped rental places. The concierge at our hotel recommended a place on Lemon street - it turned out to be some guy in an alleyway was drinking and changing the price in the same sentence. Luckily, we stumbled onto Adventure Rentals. While Adventure IS also kind of in an alleyway, the service was much better and the prices were great. The bikes cost us $35 for twenty four hours, so we had a night and a day to ride. Helmets were included free (although we didn't use them) and the bikes were in pretty good shape. We had a great time riding along the coast, going from beach to beach. Returning the mopeds was simple and the guy who worked there didn't try to scam us about scratches, like I've heard some of these places do.
Adventure Rentals was not only the best deal, it was an extremely easy and friendly experience. -

Friendly service and an even better instructor to help beginners like me. We had an emergency and they picked us up and replaced the scooter. Also, they provided us with more time the next day. I recommend purchasing 24 hours to get the most out of Oahu/ Waikiki!!! I always come back and I continue to recommend this place to all my friends.

If you want to do something fun in Waikiki, renting a moped from Adventure rentals should be it! For $35 per day plus damage waiver($7), you can ride your moped everywhere(except the highway)! We went to Chinatown, Punchbowl, Diamond Head, and everywhere in between. We almost made it to Hanauma Bay, but we didn't know we were supposed to ride on the shoulder of the road and the motorists were quite angry with us. I wouldn't recommend trying to go to Hanauma Bay or further(North Shore) if you are a beginner, it could be quite scary and dangerous for you! Stick with riding around Waikiki and surrounding areas. The guys here are very friendly and helpful! After a quick tutorial, you're off to have an adventure! No pun intended =P Highly recommended!

These guys were very cool and helpful. I rented regular bicycles for 24hrs. They had a special deal going on that day - $14/day! We rode our bikes from Waikiki to diamond head to hanauma bay and back. Definitely took a full day, especially if you're not avid bike riders. The guy gave us a map and directions to our destinations. Would have given it 5 stars if one of the beach cruisers did not have a small seat.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE place! Do not come here! My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to rent mopes from. Since I remembered rentals at Hawaiian Style Rentals, which can be pricey with the insurance, so my boyfriend yelped a few places (some of which did not exist apparently), and we ended up here. We went to the rental office, and a man was helping a couple with a different tour package. A lady walked into the office and we stated that we wanted mopeds. She offered to walk us over there (around the corner). The man working the area was speaking to a group of guys (3 or 4 of them, in their 20s). When we walked up, another group of people in their 20s came up to us, and immediately told us not to rent from them. I asked why, and they said that the salesman was a shark and they were swindlers. They said they had been there for over 90 minutes dealing with the salesman. I asked the lady with us why they would say that, and she had no response. Then one of the guys talking to the salesman walked over and told us not to rent from them because the mopeds were too slow, and the mirrors were falling off the bikes. They had taken the mopeds out, and returned them immediately because of the issues they experienced with the bikes. Apparently they were getting a hard sale from the man. My boyfriend walked away. It is very irregular to be approached by so many people, telling you not to rent. Hawaiian Style Rentals has much better reviews and so we ended up renting with them again.

We were really close to renting from ANOTHER Moped place that were around the block from our hotel but luckily there were a few customers who warned us not to because the cheated you for your money so we walked away. I heard about Adventure Rentals so we went there to check it out. The prices were good, the mopeds were better, and they didn't try to rip you off. The service is great. My bff thinks the guys there are cute. I'd come here again to get mopeds and highly recommend this place. Mopeds are mandatory if fun is what you're looking for.

Ended up here cause the rental place a block over was charging $45 when the sign said $20...so these guys hooked us up for $28 cause there was 8 of us. Jack (the owner I believe) was very thorough with his Moped 101 Orientation! Had a blast riding all over Waikiki!!

This place is easy to find. Their prices were fair and we were able to get our bikes quickly. The owner gave us a 10 min. lesson with tips for riding and we were off. Riding was the best part of our trip. We rode around the city and up to Diamond Head. We had fun exploring all the sights. We wanted to keep the bikes overnight, but we had an early morning flight. Next time I plan on renting a moped for at least 2 days.

Hooray for mopeds! I love renting scooters when my best friend comes out for a visit. The guys who work at Adventure Rentals are awesome and helpful. Very friendly too. They go over the ins and outs of the scooter and send you on your merry way. We haven't had any problems with the scooters. Only bad thing about them- having to take them back. :)

My friend and I were really looking forward to riding mopeds around the island just to see every inch of this paradise but weren't sure about where to go for rentals. The literature in the hotel lobby had coupons for a few places but we didn't want to get ripped off.
Thanks to Yelp (God bless Yelp) we were able to read all the good experiences from our fellow Yelpers had with Adventure Rentals. One thing you have to know about Adventure Rentals is that they are tucked away in a small alleyway just off of the main street, so it's easy to miss!
I highly recommend getting the 24 hour rental for $35. There's also a $7 collision damage waiver (CDW) that covers about half the cost of a new scooter if something happens. After a quick tutorial on the scooters, we are off!
We did some exploring that evening but saved our energy for the next day. From 8:30am - 2:30pm we road around most of the island! We started out by heading East and rode along the entire East and North Shore. We stopped for lunch at a shrimp stand run by one of the shrimp farmers. Very tasty! We then went to Matsumoto's for shaved ice. After washing the red beans and flavored syrup off of my hands and arms, we rode down a highway cutting South through Dole's large pineapple fields. You definitely wan to pick up a detailed map of Oahu.
It was absolutely amazing to see this island on a moped. It makes you slow down and really take everything in...and for only $6 worth of gas. You can't go wrong with Adventure Rentals. A word about the person who helped us, Mike. Mike's a ex-patriot from Canada who had just been there a few months but couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Say hi to Mike if you happen to deal with him! -

They're defiantly not shady ppl! ^__^ the guys are nice and tell you everything! I wiped out on one scooter and they didn't charge for the scratches or broken part! they just care about the stickers and body:) renting the scooters was the best part of our trip! we went to north shore and back... the 24 hour rental is the best price! hotel parking is 1$... so, not a bad deal!!! will rent here again!!
