This place is awesome if you're looking for cheap fun with the fam. They charge $18 per vehicle and that's it!! They have lots of organized hills and lanes for sledding. If you want more personal time from the crowd stay to your left, there are 2 mini hills with fewer people (worked out GREAT).

Bring your own sled you can sit into, the round saucer's aren't as fun because you cant control them as easy.

Gone are the days when you could pull off to the side of Highway 50 and sled to your heart's content for free. Now there are state-run Sno Parks, and private operations like Adventure Mountain. The price is fair, especially for what you get: a bunch of groomed sled runs, bathrooms (glorified outhouses, really), a snack bar, and even a small hill where your beginner can try skiing or snowboarding.

Be prepared for some lines on a weekend, and make sure your kids learn how to look out for themselves. Not everyone at the snow park tells teaches their kids things like "safety", or "wait your turn."

Fun stuff!  $18 parking is the only fee, though they rent sleds and inner tubes for $10 and $20, respectively.

Still open April 14th, 2012, and they say they plan to stay open through the end of April.

They do it the right way, with sledding lanes and uphill-walking lanes, but not everybody pays attention so keep an eye out.  They have 6 or 8 sledding lanes open, which means none of them get too crowded (even on a Saturday).  We never had to wait for more than 2-3 people.

We went here today, a Thursday, during our kids' Spring Break. It started snowing once we parked which was great for them to see since they don't experience that where we live. Fun, fun, fun! Not crowded at all, plenty of room to slide down. That steep climb up still takes a lot out of you but its worth it.  Price increased to $18/car but its still a reasonable price to pay not having to be charged per person. No more porta potties but they still have smelly outhouses & no where to wash your hands but what can you do, just do your business, hold your breath & run out fast. That doesn't take away from the awesomeness of this place!

we will definitely go back to this place.  At the top of echo peak, its a little out of the way if youre staying in South Lake, but its pretty worth it.  The sled runs were fun, and fast.  There was a smaller less steep run for my little ones.  Price is reasonable for a whole family.  My one and only complaint was that there were no changing tables in the bathrooms.  Of course we can change our baby in the car, but it was cold, and its not ideal.  Other than that. it was a great experience!

This is a great place for sledding. The sledding rows are less bumpy than other sno-parks but be careful in shady areas- it gets real icy. $18 will get you as many people as you can shove into your car. They rent tubes and sleds, and have restrooms, but they're not clean. Don't forget to put some sunscreen on your face- now go have fun!

What can I say ... we're a family of wimps.  We don't ski, snowboard, or anything similar.  Just driving in the snow gives me the heebee jeebees let alone racing down it at high speeds for fun.  So imagine my surprise when the wife says she wants to take the family sledding.  A little bit of yelping and I find Adventure Mountain.

This place is PERFECT if you have small kids or a family of wimps, like us.  Pack a picnic and bring your own chairs.  Great fun even for us and you can't beat the price.

We always take the kids here when we're up in Tahoe in the winter.

$15/car is a deal. Other places charge per person and are much smaller.

There's about 5 sledding lanes with a large snow area at the base for the kids to play on. It is pretty spacious and clean.

-1 star for the bathrooms which are located in the parking lot. They aren't port-o-potties but might as well be. There are 4 unisex restrooms. It's basically a plastic toilet that drops off into a huge sludge pot below. It's pretty nasty and smelly.

Overall, this is a great place to go sledding. They allow in-n-out parking privileges as well..just make sure you get a pass at the booth as you exit.

Adventure Mountain was a little hard to find if you've never been there before. Just know that if you're heading from around the casino (Harrah's & Horizon) areas downtown you'll just stay on 50 for about 15 to 20 minutes and Adventure Mountain will be on your left. If you've gotten all the way to the Sierra Ski place, you've gone too far. I say all this because my family and I were given crappy directions to the place--and it ended up taking us an hour to get there, even though it was only 20 minutes away. I even GPS'd the address in my iPhone--and it didn't really take us to the right spot.

Just note that they don't open until 10:00AM!! We were told that they opened at 9:00AM--which is why it was so difficult to find. The only sign you'll see before they open is a small blue sign that's attached to a tree. The sign says "Snow Play" or something like that. However, once they open at 10:00am--they put put a pick up truck that has an "Adventure Mountain" sign on it.

Cost was $15.00 per car for an unlimited time. Very basic place--I'd recommed bringing your own sleds etc...or actually inner tubes would be the most fun. To rent stuff there is around $10.00 for the basic plastic sled. They do have ones you can buy for around $25.00. We stayed for around an hour and a half--by then we couldn't walk up the hills anymore. It was fun, and the kids enjoyed it.

It's $15 for parking and $10 to rent a sled (you can also buy it for $18).   They hand you a piece of paper stating they are not responsible if you hurt yourself or kill yourself.

There are at least 10 courses to slide down and plenty of space for just hanging out and playing.  It's actually a lot of fun but tiring climbing up after each slide down.

    A lot of fun :)

Drove up on a Thursday and there was only one other car there. Had a great time sledding with the little guy and playing in the snow. $15 per car (there was nobody a the counter so we didnt have to pay).  If you want to rent sleds it's $10 per day with a $10 deposit. the do take credit cards.

the bathrooms are a whole other story....terrible....so so terrible. ladies i suggest you go before or hold it. making yellow snow might be your best option.

It was our first time here.. The hubby and I wanted to take the kids sledding for the day.. So we drove to South Lake Tahoe and found this along the way.. Before heading to this place, we decided to find a store and buy our own sled.

Long story short It was pretty fun.. our kids loved it a lot. Especially our son.. We found a very small little hill for him to slide on his own.. He was sliding on it several times.. He's only four so it's usually the hubby or I sliding down with him. You can actually slide anywhere you want.. It doesn't have to be where everyone else is at..

Found this place, courtesy of Yelp. I originally wanted to go to a Sno Park.  You know, experience our tax dollars at work. Little did I know that you have to buy a permit BEFORE you get there, and there is not a convenience booth to buy said permit. Argh!

But I am reviewing Adventure Mountain. It is on the right side right before that spot on Highway 50 where there is a breathtaking view of Lake Tahoe, but should you have a seizure or sneeze too hard, you would literally fly off the cliff.

Geared for families, it is mainly a sledding, snowball-throwing, experiencing-snow-for-the-first-time sort of place. It costs $15 to park the car but then you have the run of the place. There is a section of beginner hills to go down as well as moderate/medium ones.

This spot would be five stars if it weren't for the stupid porta potties. There isn't even a spot to wash your hands! Please get some flushing toilets.

I spotted a large lodge-looking structure on the property, but my guess is that construction will be halted until the economy picks up. A bustling economy will be a good thing! And I suspect it would bring on some nicer bathrooms too.

I thought I would be safe going down the beginner hills, but I was on this sled -- they don't make them anymore, which should have indicated something -- and I could not stop. Speeding down, hitting indentations like mini-moguls, I was getting air. Then I spied a small family having a conversation IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SLOPE.

"GET OUTTA THE WAY! WATCH OUT! WATCH OUT!!!" I shouted. It brought back memories of when I lost my brakes in San Francisco.

Thankfully the mom and kids scrambled to the side just in time. I whizzed by and felt the jacket of one of the kids, brush against  the sled.

It was the best ride of the day despite nearly wiping out a family of three.

What an awesome place! The whole fam went yesterday (6 of us) and played for a few hours with our new sleds from CostCo. My five year old had a blast, and we big kids loved it too. It was pretty busy, but the main hill has about 5-6 lanes, and we never waited more than a minute for our turn to sled down. And at $15 to park (and that is it to get in!), the price is right.

There is a snack shack with hot dogs, chips, hot chocolate, sleds, and other small stuff. There is a lodge that looks like it is being renovated (?) but it wasn't open at all on our visit. We packed a cooler with some drinks and snacks.

Great place for sledding and just plain ol' fun in the snow!

My first time sledding in my 28 years on the planet... great fun! Several hills to use, friendly patrons, port-o-potties, and a snack shack. The downside? $15 to park... absurd. But hey, gotta make money somehow.

I suggest bringing an ice chest with lunch and a few energy drinks as you'll find yourself parched, needing sustenance within a few hours. Hiking up the hill will wear you out!

My family and friends had a genuinely pleasant time. Great for all ages and highly recommended on your way back from South Lake Tahoe.

LOVE this place! Lots of snow to play in. Slopes to slide down on with your plastic board and or tube. All you have to pay for is the parking fee ($15). I'll definitely come here again.

They sell snacks, hot cocoa, boards, hot packs for your toes, sunglasses, and gloves at the snack shack.

This place is up Hwy 50 just past Echo Summit, about 45-50 minutes above Placerville.

There are about ten sledding runs and a snack shack (the lodge is being remodeled and I assume open for winter of 2009-2010.

It costs $15 a car load.  A fantastic price when most snow parks can easily end up costing you 100-200 bucks for the day entertaining the kiddies.

My 4 and 5 year old had a blast. They sled on and off, built snowmen, and frolicked in the snow.

There is no ski lift...so the little ones have to drag their sled up the hill..but that was not an issue at all, they like doing it.  By the time they get  so tired they can no longer drag the sled up the hill, you know they are done and it's time to go.

The only downside to this place is that having the lodge finished and a fireplace would have been icing on the cake and I would have given it 5 stars.

    Best $15 spent!

The kids got to slide, got to build snowmen and they got their snow fix! It is great, though you need to wear shades, because after one and a half hours my UV bracelet turned lilac, which meant reapply sunscreen. Not their fault, but man the sun was scorching even though we were in the snow.

    I would return for sure!

One of my not so secret recommendations!  Its surprising how many people don't know about this facility.  Great value for the money, and you don't have to worry about hitting any trees going down an ungroomed run like at other "sno-parks".  Great location on the way to south shore!

Beware, use at your own risk.  The say groomed runs when in fact, some if not most run have bumps in them.   These bumps were big enough to launch my wife into the air do a 360 and land on her face causing a concussion, stiff neck, compressed spine and headaches.  We went to the emergency and they said they see 4-5 visits a day from this place (sometimes more).  In fact, the run had blood on it and paramedics were arriving for someone else when we were departing.  They do not supervise the runs, causing very dangerous conditions at the bottom of the hills.  If you go, make your kids were helmets.  Also, watch out for ice in the parking lot as I saw many people taking headers due to the ice.  And this was after it had not snowed for 4 weeks.

Tubing or sledding - good place with kids.  Slopes come in various speed, so little ones can gradually move to faster slopes.  Walk up the hills by yourself.  Restroom is construction pod style.  Serves some snacks - hotdogs, drinks, etc.  Best to bring your own lunch.  $15 is a good deal.

We've been to Adventure Mountain twice this winter, once in January and once in March.  Both times, the kids and I had a blast.  Compared to a couple of other places we saw, $15 is a steal since you pay nothing else (assuming you don't need to eat or bring your own food).  Lines aren't that long as there are enough runs to go around, and having an area to play and build snowmen is icing on the cake.  We will definitely be coming back here for many fun winter experiences.
