Well, there are two types of themed hotels that I have seen in my short existence. Those that are tastefully put together, and those that make you feel like washing up without touching anything. Unfortunately, this place felt like the latter on my visit. After a quick look around, we opted not to stay the night and ended up at a nearby casino.
Let me start by saying we had been at the Fantasy Inn in Lake Tahoe, which was a really nice place to stay. We wanted to keep the fun hotel experience alive on our way to Reno and found this spot. When we rolled in, we were not pleasantly surprised. The room that we saw was gross. It was a jungle theme. It smelled and was very dirty. The sex shop boutique in the lobby was our first warning sign, but the room was the deal breaker.
I just checked on Tripadvisor and it sounds like my experience was par for the course. I just read reviews that talk about bed bugs, dirty sheets, lube bottles and crack pipes in the room, etc. etc. Spare yourself. If you want a fun Reno experience, go to The Peppermill.
