We used Advantage for our move from San Jose to Los Angeles. Because we have 2 young kids and a dog, we needed their help with packing the entire house of 2000 square feet as well. I definitely recommend their service for the following reasons:
1. They came out to my place and did a thorough walkthrough of everything that needs to be moved (free, no obligation estimate) and provided me with a very detailed quote via email the next day.
2. The price for packing and moving long distance was reasonable.
3. Everyone from Advantage, from packers to loaders to unloaders, were extremely courteous and friendly.
4. They packed everything so well that absolutely nothing was scratched or chipped.
Moving long distance with young kids is already stressful enough, but Advantage made the move a lot easier and trouble-free. -

Don't even consider any other moving company. My move last week was the easiest and best move I have ever had. Advantage sent professionals, both competent and courteous people to move me. Cheerful, smiling, and polite, each of the individuals who packed me up the day before were so friendly and fun. The move the next day was handled so well - even with 2 flights of stairs - never a complaint or gripe about anything. Every time I felt badly about the flights of stairs, smiles and laughter ensued. So so different from other moving companies I have used in the past.
I can't say enough good about this company. I will NEVER look at anybody else to move me. 5 stars isn't enough. This company is TOPS so don't even bother to contact anybody else. Go with Advantage!!! They are infinite plus stars as far as movers! -

This is the second time we've hired Advantage Moving to pack and move our household, and we've been pleased on both occassions. We specifically asked for Edwin to manage the crew since he set such a professional, hard working tone during our first move.
The movers were careful and did not damage anything, they did not complain about the heavy items we have (including our treadmill), took apart and re-assembled various furniture, and arrived / worked in a timely manner. While their initial quote was higher than the other movers by 30%, the final cost was the same as the other quotes (Advantage provided a not-to-exceed quote).
I went with them because they were the only ones to do a true assessment, giving us confidence they knew what they were doing. They provided a full inventory of our items, calculated the man-power required, and claim with some certainty that 2 trucks were needed. The others thought they pack and could move us in one day with four guys and one truck, but it clearly required a 1/2 day to pack, and a full day of 5 guys and 1.5 trucks. Had we gone with any of the other three quotes it could have been a disaster. I highly recommend them. -

I'd probably give this place 4.5 stars if I could. I decided to use these guys as my movers for my move from San Jose to San Francisco. I did a fair amount of research, and Advantage was the only one that insisted on doing an in-person on-site estimate. To me, this showed that they were serious; because of this, they were the only ones who could give me a "will not exceed" estimate. It's nice to have one of those because it gives you peace of mind; you know no matter how little packing you do, that's the most they can charge you, period. Even so, I tried to pack as much as I could by myself to save as much as possible.
The day of the move, the guys showed up within the 1 hour time window they gave me. We did a quick walk-through, where I showed them exactly what needed to be packed and moved for each room. The guy on point told me it would be an easy move, and off they went. For things that needed packing, they were able to do it very carefully and diligently. These items included kitchen plates/glasses, a couple TVs, etc. Within 2 hours, we left the place in SJ for SF.
It took them about an hour and 15 minutes to get to my new place in SF, which is about what I expected for a big truck. The unloading and re-assembly took about an hour and forty-five minutes. The move was nearly perfect, but my office desk did have a small piece of particle board break off the side, which allowed the screw to become misplaced. I wasn't very happy about this, but he reminded me that I did sign a release earlier in the day when it came to particle board items, since they're known to break quite easily. He did use some gorilla glue to piece it somewhat back together. When I asked him whether I could file the standard 60 cents/pound claim, he said that I could but that it would require them to take my desk back to their location to examine it. I decided against it because it just wasn't worth the time/effort.
All in all, though, I was quite happy with the move. Kelly, the salesperson, who did my estimate was very helpful and detail-oriented when giving the estimate. However, I was a bit frustrated after I told her of my decision to hire them; I wrote a few emails to and left a few voicemails for her with some follow-up questions, but she never responded. I had to call their office to have my questions answered. The 3 movers were extremely nice and worked very diligently yet carefully. I was very happy overall with my move, and would probably use Advantage again. Their hourly rate as on the higher end of the spectrum ($130/hour for 3 men), but I felt it was well worth it. I've learned that the moving business can be quite shady, but these guys were great. There were no hidden charges, which is something you should always watch out for. -

The 3 guys came on time and started packing and loading our furniture right away. They are very fast and seem to work very well with each other. They disassembled and reassembled without problems, no dings on furniture or walls or floors. They moved some big stuff up our very tight spiral staircase like they were experts on spiral staircases. Wow I was impressed. And they finished just under the minimum 3 hours. Totally worth the money and tip. We will DEFINITELY use them again.
I would have given 5 stars if things went just as smooth with the sales guy. However, I had to follow up a few times cuz I had not heard back from him in what I consider a timely manner each time I tried to reach him. But in the end, he gave me all the confirmation and info I needed. 4 stars is pretty good. almost 5. -

We used this company twice and were very impressed compared with other movers. We had a real dud experience the last time we moved before we found Advantage, including a missing box of silver spoons.
By contrast, hese folks seem more on-the-level compared to some of the surly, sketchy types in this biz. Moving is no fun, but we're pretty confident that Advantage is a boon to the process. -

Just moved yesterday and I highly recommend Advantage moving, the move went so well, I have no complaints at all. Everyone at Advantage is friendly and professional.
They did a walk through to inventory everything we were moving and provided a quote so there would be no surprises. They arrived on time and did a fantastic job wrapping every piece of furniture. And we had alot of heavy large furniture, glass table top, juke box nothing was damaged.
It was a 3 hour drive to our new home and they arrived within 15 minutes of us. And placed all items where we asked and even moved an item when I changed my mind.
They take pride in their business and the service they provide.

This was a great company to work with during my move. I've used moving companies before and this one is by far the best.
The people I worked with were all very professional and very nice. First I had a mini phone consultation with Kelly, then she came to my home to do a free estimate. She was great. Very courteous and she gave me tons of great info.
The ONLY REASON THEY DID NOT GET 5 STARS WAS BECAUSE their estimate was actually way too low. My husband and I could only afford to pay for 3 movers for 3 hours, which we felt was going to be plenty since we were only moving across the street (from one third floor apartment to another). During the estimate we were told that this could definitely cover our large furniture and possibly some boxes.
The problem was the movers themselves were TOO FAST!!! They ended up having all the large furniture, some smaller furniture, and almost all the boxes moved within 1 hour. My husband and I had to scramble to throw extra stuff in boxes for them to move. We even had them take apart our bed and rebuild it in the new apartment. In the end we had to send them home early because there was not enough for them to do! And since the company has a 3 hour minimum we had to pay anyway.
I really wish the estimate would have been more accurate so I could have been fully prepared and be able to better use the time that I had to pay for.
But all in all it was a great experience and I would certainly use them again. I even had a neighbor ask me for their information since they were so quick, professional, and careful with my things. -

I have a bad back and can't move more than a few boxes on my own. So, we've used this company three times to move along the Penninsula. They do an excellent job moving everything very quickly and safely. You'll get three guys and a truck. We noticed that two guys are usually very experienced and the third is in training. All of them have always been enthusiastic and hard working.
On our third move, the guys had placed a bet that they could move us quicker than the previous three guys. Well they beat their time even though we had more stuff!
P.S. Have lots of bottled water ready.... moving is hard work. -

We needed quick and complicated action and this team came through with flying colors. We ended up selling our house much faster than planned, and had to move part of our furniture into storage while moving the rest into a rental unit. This team did a wonderful job of sorting and packing the furniture to make two stops and unload the right things at the right place.
They were very efficient and took great care with our goods. And they did it all in one day. We moved from Milpitas to near Jackson, CA and the team showed up at 8am and were done with both drop offs, and set up of furniture at our new place by 5pm. Amazing work from some very professional and amazing guys! -

This company recently handled our move from San Jose, CA to Santa Rosa, CA. Three movers came on time (15 min. early even), worked efficiently and carefully, and were very friendly and helpful. Their final charge was even much lower than the initial estimate. We highly recommend this company!

I had to move a three bedroom household twice in one year. Having a moving company who is on my side to get through the nightmare was vitally important. Both times, I used Advantage Moving and could not be happier with the whole experience. They have impeccable customer service and fair pricing. Their people are professional and seem to love their job. Hummm.... they are run by women... that must be the difference!
I found Advantage Moving by doing some serious due diligence in 2006. I called over 10 companies from various sources of various sizes (mom & pop shops, one man ads, large global movers), met with five people and received three written estimates. I checked all the moving scam websites and educated myself on what to avoid and what to ask for. Of the three estimates, Advantage Moving came in right in the middle.
I met with Lori from Advantage Moving at my place for an estimate. She listened to my situation, jotted down the possible scenarios (moving two households into one, moving some stuff into storage, moving some stuff myself), took complete inventory of my house on her laptop and printed out the "not to exceed" quote. As long as there wasn't any additional stuff to move, I could expect to pay no more than what was quoted. We then scheduled a moving date that was convenient for me. Advantage also provided a few used moving boxes for free. I felt good about giving them my business.
On the day of the move, the crew showed up promptly. I found the inside of the truck clean and organized. All the guys worked together seamlessly and took care to put cloth down on the floor and around the door frames. They were fast and efficient with no chit chat. They asked before using the restroom and before taking a 5 minute break. The crew boss was very diligent in asking for clarification and taking inventory of storage items. Once everything was in the truck, we all proceeded to the new house. Then, everything worked like clockwork, only in reverse. At the end of the moving day, the total was less than the original quote. I was more than happy to give the crew a 15% tip.
Fast forward one year to 2007, I needed to move again during Thanksgiving. It felt good to know I didn't have to worry about which moving company to choose. I called Lori up again and we repeated the process from a year ago. Everything was perfect except for one little hiccup; the crew got lost coming to the new place because I gave them bad directions. The drive time is calculated at double rate so this one hour delay cost me quite a bit. I talked to Lori after the move and they credited me the difference. No muss, no fuss.
I am a seasoned traveler who has moved around the world. I cannot speak highly enough about Advantage Moving. As a repeat customer, I wholeheartedly recommend them. -

I've moved a bunch of times unfortunately, and had mixed service from the moving companies, but these guys were the best ever. They were lightening fast, really friendly even at the end of the day when everyone was dead tired, took apart my kids' bunk bed and put it back together perfectly without me even asking them to do it, got every box where it was supposed to go, offered to move stuff back and forth, and really didn't seem to break a sweat. They made the hell of moving day MUCH better.

I was very, very happy with their service for our recent move towards the Central Valley. They were punctual, flexible as to our move date, and extremely professional. I researched a LOT of companies before selecting these guys, and there's a lot of SHADINESS in the industry. Their prices are not the lowest, but I feel like we got a great value. There's no overselling or overcharging for extra moving supplies, everything is over the table.

I spent the time with the estimator for an in-home survey and was told that I'd get my estimate by the end of the day. It's been almost TWO weeks & still nothing. Would I trust them with my household goods if I can't even count on getting my estimate? Ummmm, I think not. You might want to think twice as well. If they didn't want to accept my move, that's cool with me, but they could have at least contacted me to let me know. If I'm planning on spending at least a few thousand on a move, I don't think I should be the one chasing them around for my estimate.

What a great moving experience. The advantage team was thorough in their quote and provide a clear not to exceeed amount. The movers arrived on time, were very courteous, careful and yet quick. They took the extra efforts to apply felt to our furniture so as not to hurt our hard wood floooring. A very personable team. I would recommend to everyone.

The whole moving process sucks immensely, but these guys made it as painless as possible. Advantage came highly recommended by the woman whose apartment we took -- she was moving out the day we signed the lease -- and now we'll recommend them to everyone we know. Our move was a hassle -- two people living separately, one in Oakland, one in SF, moving in together to an apartment in Emeryville. So all that heavy crap like beds, couches, etc.? We have at least two of each. And it was effing *pouring* all day. But Marcos and his crew were champs -- nothing but great attitude, efficiency, and teamwork. It was a really long day for all of us, but their attention to detail and care for our crap never wavered. Like Mark G. said, they weren't the cheapest, but there was nothing shady. My boyfriend's first words when they left were "That was expensive, but worth every penny."

These guys are top notch. Professional, careful and honest. They were the only company to send someone out to do the estimate and promised not to exceed the quoted price. The final cost was lower than the estimate. Needless to say, I would use them again!

I recently used Advantage Moving to move from San Leandro to San Ramon. I read and heard numerous horror stories about moving companies in the bay area and was very nervous. However, Advantage gave me a price quote with a guarantee that they would not exceed it. Also - they don't charge for all the incidentals (tape, plastic wrap, etc) that the other companies nickel and dime you for and they wrap tv's etc. for free. Our move required two trucks and five workers and they moved all of the stuff with no damage to anything including the walls. The workers were all extremely professional and they even finished the job in less time than expected and the final price was below the guaranteed not to exceed price quote. I will definitely use this company if I ever move again and I have already recommended them to friends. GREAT JOB!!!!
