There's all the other recruiting/placement firms...and there's ADVANCED RESOURCES.
I swear, with every other recruiting firm that I've dealt with in this city (I've dealt with a LOT) you just feel like a number. They see what's on the resume and that's it. If you don't fit into their cookie-cutter requirements for the job, than tough.
It's the exact opposite at Advanced. I worked with Joe S. on a few different assignments, and with Talia in the Northbrook office. They identified positions & landed me interviews (which always led to further interviews) that were different from my prior experience, but were great opportunities that I could really see myself doing. HOW do they do this you ask? By actually LISTENING to and CARING about the people they are working with.
I can't say enough about Advanced Resources. I'd give 'em 6 stars if I could!! -

I recently got hired into a great job (after a few weeks of temping) through Advanced Resources and was lucky enough to have worked with Lisa DeSalvo, one of the amazing recruiters there.
I had been looking for a job for a year, after just moving to Chicago and had worked with a ridiculous amount of staffing agencies over that time.
I had basically given up on looking and found hope again in finding employment, even after just my initial phone call with Lisa. She rebuilt my confidence with interviewing.
Lisa is one of the most personable people you will ever meet. She has a great sense of humor and will instantly make you feel comfortable.
Lisa probably spent 45 minutes before each interview I had, making sure that I was completely prepared for my interview. She answered any concerns that I had and knew the right questions to ask to make sure the job was a great fit for me.
Unlike some of the experiences I have had with other staffing agencies, this company actually tries to find you a position based on what you WANT to do, versus what you HAVE DONE.
Also, I was actually contacted frequently about new jobs that may be a fit for me, and I liked the variety I was offered.
I also worked with Eileen and Pam and they were great as well!!!
Hopefully I won't need a staffing agency again, but if I do, this is definitely the company to go to!!! -

The people here are nice, but they never even notified me of anything. Isn't that their job?

Upon moving back to Chicago I was lucky enough to have work lined up. It was temporary, however, and once the job had ended I was left fearing for my financial future.
A friend referred me to Advanced Resources and told me that she had worked with Eileen.
I emailed Eileen and she responded almost immediately. I went in for the initial temp agency overview and took a few on-line aptitude tests.
Within the week Eileen had a short-term project lined up for me and once that was complete had set me up with a temp position a bit more permanent.
I wound up in a full time position within that company for just over a year. When I didn't feel as though it was a good fit, I left the job and called Eileen right away.
She, once more, had me set up with a project suited for me within the week.
The thing I love about Eileen is that she asks for your preference and specific jobs you might like. She then constantly follows up with you to ensure the company she's placed you with is a good fit.
This is such a great quality because it eludes to the fact that they really know how to do their jobs and that's refreshing.
The weekly pay is great and I really enjoy that Advanced is also able to negotiate pay rates when you've been with a company for awhile and they also handle sick days, etc...
Overall I've had a very positive experience here and always look forward to working with Eileen Adler. She's fantastic! -

Lightning does strike twice!
I have been fortunate to land two amazing jobs from one company: Advanced Resources!
Back in 1998, I worked with Advanced and was introduced to one of the best jobs I ever had. Flash forward to 2011- I was reunited with Advanced when Heather Greco found me.
After a long and tiring search with other recruiters, it was so refreshing to work with someone who looked beyond the contents of my resume. Heather was very straightforward and provided timely status updates and interview feedback from a client...even if it was bad news.
In this circumstance, I was unsure about leaving my current field for an exciting opportunity that was out of my comfort zone. Heather was a keen listener and adviser to my concerns. She had my best interest in mind and was right on when she saw the potential in me. I landed a dream job that I would not have considered or otherwise been presented, if it wasn't for Advanced Resources.

When I first graduated from college many moons ago, the economy was doing very poor and I had a tough time landing a job. I applied to a staffing firm in the suburbs and never received any follow up after completing their application. After much frustration, I finally got in touch with Advanced Finance. They were able to land me a temp to perm position which was great because I was able to determine whether or not I really liked the company I was working for prior to going perm.
Never really knew what a staffing firm was prior to working with Advanced, but now I feel its a great option if you are unemployed or just looking to change companies. -

I've been working with Eileen from Advanced for about 3 months now.
Eileen is very professional, honest, and a great resource. She really got to know my situation and what I was looking for. She offered to help me with my resume and gave me some other temp agency's to contact, which is awesome.
She always responds to my correspondence within an hour, generally within minutes.
I do feel like sometimes she really is selling me the job, though I have experienced this with all Agency's I have worked with so you just need to make sure you really get a full description of the job !
My only word of advice is do the tutorials before taking the test on excel or word, the first time I took them I got less than 50% but after watching the tutorials I was about 97% for all.
Also make sure you work with more than one agency otherwise you will have a lot of down time. -

I worked with advanced on two separate occasions. The first time they never returned any of my phone calls, or referred me to even "temp" work. The second time, I received one phone call back. When I explained to the recruiter that I was uninterested in the position she was offering because of the "low pay rate" she replied, she thinks I just "did not want to work". ADVANCED YOU ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND ARE UNABLE TO PLACE PEOPLE BECAUSE OF YOUR LACK OF TALENT AND RESOURCES.

I responded to a job posting on CraigsList a few months ago, and was put in contact with Heather G. at A.R. Things started off professionally enough- she seemed okay in our first meeting, and I went along to an interview for the aforementioned job. The interview went fabulously, I loved the company and the people there, and they seemed to like me. A week or so later, Heather told me they'd like to have me back to interview for a DIFFERENT postion, which I wasn't sure I was qualified for. After I returned for a second interview with the same company, Heather told me to have my phone handy the next day and to "expect an offer" the next evening. Not only did I not hear from her the next day, I didn't hear from her for FOUR days, when she E-MAILED me to tell me they decided not to extend an offer b/c I wasn't qualified (I should mention that all of Heather's emails were sloppily copy-and-pasted). Neither I nor my resume ever said I WAS qualified for this new position! Very frustrating and completely avoidable, if only Heather had done her job and succesfully communicated needs/expectations with me and the prospective employer. But there's more! A month later, Heather emailed me (surprise!) asking if I'd be interested in yet another positon with the same company. After asking for more details (b/c she gave nothing but the position title) and reviewing her response, I responded that I was interested...and almost a month later still haven't heard back from Heather. Due to Heather's professional ineptitude, I wasted vacation time, effort, and thought. There are many other successful agencies in the city (see my other reviews)- don't waste your time with Heather or A.R.
