I'm a rather new patient to Advanced Pain Medical Group, and my Dr, Dr. Hirt, an amazing Doctor who preached both traditional Western Medicine and Homeopathic/Eastern Medicine, recommended Dr. Vimal Lala after a year of chronic back pain.  I've attempted homeopathic injections for months, and unfortunately it has not been improving.  I've tried acupuncture, and so many other remedies, including specialists, and have not found a solution.

I visited Dr. Lala, and had a consultation followed by an MRI at ProHealth.  I was very impressed with the professionalism there, I received good service, the same service I expect all companies to have and the service I give my customers at my place of employment.   I trust his recommendations, and feel he is very respectable.  Anyways, back to him, I am one of those patients that asks a lot of questions, and actively plays a role in my health and well being.  I was not rushed, and he was very comforting as I would expect from a pain management doctor.  His office staff have been very professional, and my experience thus far has been pleasant.  The front desk has been very knowledgable, definitely more skills and willing to help than most offices.  I am very detail oriented, in that I discuss Procedure codes with Chris the billing guy, as I am one that likes to research everything, ensure there are no problems with billing, etc.  I've been pleased with the customer service.

Today I had a minor surgery, was put under anesthesia, and felt comfortable and at ease.  I am always a happy cheerful person, and I enjoyed my interaction with the nurses, with an occasional joke or two.  ;)  I'm a bit sore, that but is expected given the treatment.  I'm going next Tuesday for a follow up and further discussion of my treatment plan.

I can tell Dr. Lala has a passion for helping people, and he cares about their general well being.  Since I had tried so many other remedies, we were able to skip many of the basic treatments because I had already exhausted them.

I've done all my homework, looking at complaints, medical board reviews, arbitration disputes, etc ,as I do with all my doctors.  I think it's important that people do their homework.  Just because someone is a doctor, does not mean that he or she is a good doctor, and its important that patients become well informed, do their homework, and ask the right questions.  Dr. Lala so far has passed my test, and I'll be honest, I'm a tough judge of character.  ;)  I am also a very difficult consumer, and while it is a medical facility, at the end of the day, Doctors are meant to help people, but they also need to make a profit (or they wouldn't be in Business, and I love a market economy), which makes sense, an honest days work deserves an honest pay.  He passed my difficult consumer test so far, he is very diligent and professional.  Dr. Lala seems to have the right balance.

I'll update my review over time, as I do with all my reviews, to ensure accuracy, consistency, and followup.  Be well.

EDIT: 25March12, all my comments still stand, excellent service.  When I visit Dr. Lala, all my questions are fully answered, and he is always very pleasant, honest, and heartfelt. I can say this, he definitely cares about his patients, and not many people can say that about their doctors.

Lastly, I did have a slight reaction to one of the procedures, and while less than 10% of people get this reaction in this specific procedure, he had already gone over with me the possible outcomes, and he was there with me every step of the way to ensure my satisfaction and healing.  Furthermore, he called me personally to check in and see how I'm doing, now that is service.  I highly recommend his practice, and while I have had some interactions with Dr. Johnson, as he also performs procedure with Dr. Lala, he also seems to be engaging and hard working.

EDIT: 18May12 - Still great service, I highly recommend Dr. Lala.  HIs commitment to spending time with patients, being upfront and honest, and his dedication to ensuring patient comfort is stellar.

I was referred to this company by a friend after complaining about chronic pain I have had in my back. I'm not a fan of driving out to the valley, but word of mouth is most often the way to go.

Anyway... I was able to set up an appointment within 48 hours. They were so friendly which is not too common when dealing with anyone in the medical field in my experience. I hope I don't have to make too many trips back, but they make the drive less painful. haha.
