Came by here for an eye exam and had a positive experience.
The office is very clean and the employees were very professional. The equipment seemed top notch. Dr. Orenic was very straightforward and made me feel comfortable despite being a new doctor for me. I think I will visit them again for my next check up.
You can find parking in the structure off Nash across from the Arclight theater. Make sure to get a validation in the office. -

Sunday afternoon, taking a nap on the couch. All is right with the world.
Then I roll over and pop, I feel something break under my fat butt.
Yup, my cool glasses that I had bought from Hong Kong four years ago finally died under the pressure of my weight (tear).
So needing new glasses and needing them soon, I looked around my area and found Advanced Eye Care. Making an appointment was easy as they were able to accommodate my same-day request to go in.
Once I arrived, I was given a very extensive examination looking at my eye balls 50 different ways. Well, maybe not 50 but there were a lot of tests done.
After all that, I was taken over to select my new frames (and although their selection isn't as wide as other places I've been to in my lifetime, they were still able to find one that fit my big head pretty well).
They also recommended some new contacts for me which I tried out for a couple of weeks while my glasses were being fabricated and I might go back to pick up some of them.
Now for pricing... don't be mistaken. For all this, you do pay for it. Luckily, I was using my FSA money so I didn't feel as bad since I had leftover money that I wasn't going to spend this year but my glasses, lenses and the examination ran close to $1k. Despite the fact that my total bill came out to over $1000 before insurance, my glasses weren't for me. Although they do look good, I'm reminded on a daily basis on how poorly they fit. They constantly slip. I did go to get them refit twice, but they still bend out of shape so I'm more inclined to believe that they're stylized overpriced junk. I was also disappointed that unlike the attendant that worked at Stein who held the glasses to my face and took some measurements as he was bending them, the attendant here just started folding the brackets. After the 2nd time when I said they didn't fit as I wanted them to, she just hooked the bracket which made them sit at a slight angle. Sensing frustration, I decided to say they were ok and deal with it. It could very well be just crappy overpriced glasses.
As far as my contacts were concerned, I would say that it is my own fault that I got a pair that weren't right for me. I went in complaining that my previous contacts were not very clear so the doctor wanted me to try another pair out for the day to see if I liked them. After he gave them to me, I tried them on at which point I thought they were pretty good. Ten minutes later we decided to dilate my eyes for an additional check. The attendant gave me some soap so that I could wash my hands for taking them off, but didn't offer anything to put the contacts in. I took them off, but I was embarrassed to ask for another pair to test them out for the day. I just took the prescription, but when I finally wore them for an entire day, my eyes felt dry and I got headaches throughout the day.
The eye exam was as expected and I did feel as I had all my questions answered and that my eyes were checked thoroughly.
A 2 on this site is "Meh, I've had better" and for the price I felt that was adequate. While this place wasn't for me, it is a nice atmosphere and the doctor is very nice and will do a good job checking your eyes.Comment from Katharine T. of Advanced Eye Care Center of Manhattan Beach 6/19/2011

Wow... has it really taken me this long to write a review?!
Anyway... this is the 2nd year I have come to see Dr. Orenic for my eye exam and I always walk away happy. Dr O is very professional, knowledgeable and genuinely cares about his patients.
Its not just Dr. O... but its also the wonderful staff he has working there.
I remember last year I was seeing bright spots in my eyes and I talked to the Optician. She talked to the Doctor and I got a call back saying "come in as soon as you can and the Doctor will make sure you are not experiencing retinal detachment". He took pictures of my retina(s) and assured me that they were healthy and advised I may want to see my medical doctor.
Sure enough... they were migraine symptoms.
Long story short... I have nothing but praise for his practice and I would recommend him to everyone I know.

I recently moved to the area, and with the start of a new year, I wanted a new look and hoped that new glasses would do the trick. I work down the street so the location was extremely convenient from work.
The shop is located in a small office plaza off Rosecrans. The office is modern, bright and clean, and the staff are extremely friendly and competent. I found Dr. Orenic to be extremely knowledgeable and patient. He took the time to listen to everything I had to say. I wanted a place with a big selection of designer frames, which he does have (Dior, Prada, Fendi, FaceaFace, Calvin Klein...sorry no Chanel).

Preface
Them: "Hey, love your glasses, can I try them on?
Me: If I was in a wheel chair, would you ask me to try it out?"
Them: "whuu- what do you mean? Of course not! That doesn't even make sense!"
Me: "Well, I can't see without my glasses, they immobile without their wheelchair, understand? They are both handicaps, in different ways."
Them: "whatever, it's not even the same thing....."
Anyone that wears glasses have had someone ask to try theirs on at some point. I can understand if they already wear some, and they want to see different frames, but it's the hep cats that just want to see how they look in glasses. Because of all of this hubbub, I name my glasses my "wheelchair", due to my extreme blindness, and need to wear them at all times.
Well, it was time to replace said wheelchair, she had done her time, and looked like she went through hell and back. After realizing that Advanced Eye care took VSP, I went on down with boyfriend in tow to check out their selection. I had my eyes examined elsewhere, so I don't know about the exams. Once I entered, I was introduced to a young lady named Katharine, and once I told her what I wanted, she went right to work, looking for frames that would work on my face. I usually hate this part of the game, because the opticians always choose frames that wold look great on me if I was 30 years older..or 15 years younger. needless to say, she did an excellent job. They all pretty much looked great, and I chose the plastic Dior frame with the iZon lenses. It really didn't cost me too much more to do that, and being that my lens prescription is -7.00, I thought I should try something new, be it I already have the high index lenses. (My lenses always cost more than my frames) Also, my boifriend found a pair of tres fancy sunglasses (John vavartos) that he liked, and were covered by insurance. We all won! I went to the back to have my eyes fitted for the iZons, which you put your face into a machine, and it measures everything...it went fast, and painless.
2 weeks later: went to pick them up, and it took seconds. She made sure they fitted, and gave me a few cleaning cloths, validated my ticket (extra bonus) and sent me on my way.

After 9 years without an eye exam and having the same crappy, ugly, and very unattractive eye glasses I decided to use my VSP to get a complete eye make over. Within 5 minutes of checking in and received a comprehensive eye exam and they were able to find the right contacts for me. In addition to the contacts the display of eye glasses made it nearly impossible for me to leave the center without buying a pair of eye and sun glasses. I loved how the staff made sure I put contacts on correctly and followed up a week later to make sure they are comfortable. I went to other eye care centers in the South Bay before a friend referred me here and without doubt Advanced Eye Care Center is heads and shoulders above the rest.

About two weeks ago, we went in to pick out glasses as a gift for my girlfriend's birthday. We had never been to this office before but came here on a recommendation of another friend that did. We were very pleased with the service and the time that the optician took to help us find a frame to my girlfriend's liking. She also explained different types of lens technologies and made her suggestions of what lenses would be best for my gf due to her prescription needs. The optician also took extra time to help us find a sunglass that fit my girlfriend well.
We also live up North and were not able to pick the glasses up when they arrived so they UPS'd the glasses to us, complete with a cleaning cloth, lens spray, and nice case for the glasses. We also were given a Jamba Juice gift card in thanks for being new patients!

Dr. Orenic is the best. Very knowledgeable and personable. I only waited 2 minutes until he came into the examining room...unheard of these days. Also, his staff is professional and courteous. Not only is he a great Dr., his office is very, very organized. Very highly recommended.

I love my optometrist :) I've been going here for 4 years now. I work right down the street so it's easy for me to get my eye exams done here during lunch. Lots to say about this place. Just came back from my yearly eye exam and figured it's about time I let it be heard!
Why I love this place:
1) Dr. Orenic is very nice and friendly. He always wants to make sure that you are comfortable with the prescription and that it doesn't cause you any issues.
2) They have all the new nifty gadgets I didn't even know an optometrist could have! Talk about high tech and very up to date. They show your eye test results in 2 large computer screens in the room where the prescription testing magic happens.
3) GREAT customer service. Why? Take for instance, last year: I usually wear contacts, but taking a lab class meant nothing allowed that's pressed up against your eyeballs. These bad boys had to go commando. Class just started and my insurance (which was a yearly allowance) didn't kick in until 3-4 weeks later. I can't be blind in class THAT long. I forget the girl's name who was helping me, but she ended up calling my vision insurance company, worked her magic and had gotten them to agree to let my insurance cover me early. Heck Ya! And most recently: I went with the contacts this year. Paid for them and went on my merry way. I get a voicemail when I get back to work. Morgan, who assisted the doc, had noticed that there was another option with my contacts- same brand, larger pack but less expensive. She changed my order to that instead and credited me the difference of $50 back. Double heck ya!
4) Great selection of eye wear. If you don't want to know what looks good on your face (or you can't see cause you're temporarily blind), his staff is super helpful in picking out frames with you.
5) Validated parking! Ah, the little things!

What a treat to be able to recommend Dr. O and his office. These folks are the very best -- makes you wish every professional would treat you as well. Friendly staff, comprehensive testing, good selection of frames, and the incomparable Dr. Orenic. I've moved out of the area, but the trip is still worth making.
