I began with a.e.s. In 2003.  The very first placement, a hard-to-fill
temp-to-perm position with Rolex of Northern CA turned into a great
five-year experience that only ended when the owner retired.

Despite the downturn in the economy, a.e.s. has kept me busy with
temp jobs.  They really do go out of their way to make sure that
client and employee retention remains at or close to 100%.

The a.e.s determination at placement, job satisfaction, and quality
of staffing goes beyond that percentage by miles.
Miles of smiles is what one will experience with this agency, along
with buckets of bucks... I have referred friends, acquaintances, and
others looking for work to them, and have always heard only good
reviews in return.

For better than a decade, a.e.s. has stood head and shoulders above
other agencies that I've had dealings with... they know the
San Francisco business market, and I highly recommend them!

In the beginning of my career, it was difficult for a new grad to find any sort of employment at a reputable company due to the August 2007 financial downturn.  For someone like me, who had just earned a B.A. in economics, the job market was especially tough --and still is.  However, somehow the people at A.E.S. worked hard to place me at Visa and a Seagate subsidiary.  These opportunities have helped me obtain higher level roles at other great companies.  If you are a new grad and willing to work hard, they will definitely help you out.

Advanced Empoyment Services placed me in a position in January of 2007 which I stayed with a year. I would have stayed there with the place that they found for me , but my husband relocated.  The transactions with the employment staff (very friendly) and utilizing their forms of correspondence such as time cards was the easiest I have come across in working with temporary placement agencies. They found me a great position at a non-profit, which ended up taking 1st place in my work history level of enjoyment.

Please note that they are now openly padding their own reviews.

SHAMELESS.

I find it rather interesting (synonym for SUSPECT) that only one person has something positive to say about this place...

There's a reason for this, as well as the fact their website has ANCIENT testimonials (and all from the same company...I KNOW ALL OF THE FOLKS THAT GAVE THESE SO-CALLED CONSTRUCTION TESTIMONIALS, so ask me for a last name & the company!!!).  This is a low-budget version of Andiamo, if you ask me...no follow-up, I absolutely NO communication.  What's funny, the owner (I'll allow her to remain nameless) walked into two of the businesses I later worked at, trying to drum up business.  Wasting time taking tests that lead to nowhere?  1/2 cent.  Calling trying to follow up & see what's available, but getting met with attitude & NO JOBS?  About another 1/2 cent.

THE LOOK ON THE OWNER'S FACE WHEN SHE REALIZES THE PERSON SHE'S NEGLECTED IN THE PAST RUNS THE FRONT OFFICE?! - PRICELESS!!!!

Yet another agency that wasted about three hours of my time with antiquated Microsoft Office tests. To me, advertising that you are "female owned" is a hackneyed implication that they will treat you more fairly than another agency.  It is about as meaningful as when financial institutions advertise that they are an "equal opportunity lender".  There are good agencies in SF that will actually make an effort to place you in jobs that match your skills, regardless of who you may be, but I had no luck with them despite their promises. Their office accounting must be very sloppy too since they mailed my W2 form for the four hours of work which I got through them for the year to an address that I NEVER lived at, despite them adamantly saying that they were using the address on my employment application.  It may not be a big deal to them if somebody else's name and social security number gets mailed to the wrong address, but it is to me!

Update April 8, 2009: As an addition to my previous review, the owner of this company made an attempt to boost her review status by posting a five star "review" in the form of a reply letter to somebody else who posted a negative review.  In the owner's defence, however, I would say do not expect any miracles from any staffing agencies in this economy.  I have had better luck being my own personal "employment agency" by going on Craigslist.

Dear Amourafina,

Our website includes 20 testimonials and of course you know at least two people as we had placed you there on a temp-to-hire assignment.  Unfortunately, things did not work out in your favor.

I do not recall seeing you at the front office of some of the businesses I visited.  However, the times I'm out on the field trying to drum up business for our job seekers/applicants, I'm always very happy to see that someone who either applied with us or worked for us found full-time employment, as this is what we wish for every job seeker.

As far as you running the front office ... CONGRATULATIONS!  I'm sincerely very happy for you!  All the best to you!
