Please note, this review is specifically for a level 2 chemical peel from their esthetician - Amanda.
This place came highly recommended from Alicia P - much love girl! And I have to say, I was uber nervous about getting a chemical peel since it was my first time getting anything done professionally to my skin besides a one time facial, but it was AOK!
Making the appointment was super easy, just called and set it up. However, not much direction was given, no asking if it was my first time, no asking if I was on specific topical (because you would have to stop use of certain ones at least one week in advance), not given any pricing or asked about what level of a peel I was interested in. However, I was not scared because Alicia said Amanda was awesome.
So, went in there the morning of my apt not knowing what to expect. I met Amanda and she was so warming. You know how you fill out all that paperwork when you go to doctors and then you have to RE-TELL it like 3 times verbally because no one actually reads what you took 20 min to write down? Yeah well Amanda dove right into my paperwork and reviewed it with me, Score!! Shows huge effort in learning about my skin and needs. She knew immediately I was new and we started discussing goals. She asked me about my skincare and the history of my skin so she could understand what she was about to work with. She also reviewed each and every option and pricing with me which made me feel super comfy. She was not about sales in the least, she literally was about getting my goals met.
I went with the basic chemical peel, level 1 and it was $125. The application was only about 15 min and it was pretty painless. Just applying lotions and liquid to my skin. There was a small fan during the acetone application to get rid of the smell and then the vitamin A added a little sting but the fan made me comfortable. After I was finished, my face was yellow because of the Vitamin A but it was all absorbed within 30 minutes.
My heal time was a little over 6 days but everyone is different. If I choose to keep these up or get something else, I definitely trust Amanda as she was super informative and nice. She gave me her card and numbers in case I had any questions. She also gave me written directions and samples of the moisturizers and cleansers I was allowed to use.
She was a rockstar! -

Although the PAs are wonderful, the staff is rude and are inable/unwilling to answer any questions. Their standard response seems to be ignorance on all topics. The worst part of dealing with this office is their lack of responsiveness and follow through. It is near impossible to get a response, and if you need anything after 3 pm you are completely out of luck

At first I hated Dermatologists and pretty much the entire industry. Advanced Derma has completely changed my mind and I will NEVER go anywhere else.
Here's my sitch:
I used to visit a VERY highly rated (and cocky, and demeaning) Orlando dermatologist, waited for 2 hours each visit, saw someone for 5 minutes, and was sent on my way after they took my co-pay. Needless to say, I was super negative about this whole industry.
And so when I found Advanced Derma I was not the easiest customer to handle. But that was when the awesome started.
1. I called their main phone number and spoke to a scheduling assistant who knew the doctors at each location by name, and by specialty. When I told her that I wanted to be heard, she recommended Deb at the Lake Mary office because she's known for being patient. This told me right off the bat that this is a well-run company with excellent communication and employees that care.
2. The Medical Assistant and Deb, my actual Derma, were both beyond patient. No one judged me, they took their time, they explained things, they stay positive, they give out samples as much as possible, they answer questions. They're wonderful people and they remember me. GREAT experience each and every time.
And finally - 3.
My esthetician - Amanda. Possibly the most important aspect of this review. She is flipping awesome. She's easy to talk to, has a fun personality, is quick, completely cares, basically just rocks. The kind of person who you want to hug when you leave. She remembers my skin and cares about what happens to me. Freakin' awesome.
If you're in the Orlando area and can make the drive to the Lake Mary Advanced Dermatology & Advanced Cosmetic Surgery, I recommend it more than I can ever say. They have seriously changed my life, my confidence, and my opinion of this entire industry.
