I'm adding Jordan from Advanced Construction and Repair to my list of people to enthusiastically recommend and rehire for work around our home. We hired Jordan to do some drywall repair to the ceiling in our nursery. When I asked him to come out and give us an estimate, I originally expected that we would need to replace the entire ceiling. However, he gave his honest opinion that he felt that that would be an unnecessary expense and instead gave a couple of estimates for varying degrees of repair and explained exactly what each would entail. I was so impressed with his honesty (he could have easily taken advantage of us and made quite a bit more money) that I hired him without hesitation.
Over the two days that he was at our house to do the repair, he was always on time, courteous, kind, and unobtrusive. He didn't leave a mess and did a fabulous patch on our ceiling. In fact, we can't tell at all where the old ceiling and new ceiling begins or ends! I know that this was a smaller job for him but he stuck to the exact estimate that he gave us and was always professional. If I'm ever in need of having a larger construction job done I will not hesitate to call him.
In other words; hire this guy! Thanks Jordan for the great job! -

Jordan was on time and super professional when he came to give us an estimate. Although personal circumstances have forced us to hold off for now on starting our work, you can bet we will be calling Jordan when the time comes. He gave us specific quotes for the different types of work (electrical, sheetrock, etc.), and took the time to really figure out what would need to be done.
Thanks Jordan, we'll give you a call when we finally start our kitchen. -

I would re-hire Jordan in a New York minute for my next remodeling project. He did an excellent job on a bathroom gut remodel and kitchen remodel. Not only was he very mindful of our budget and completed the work on schedule, he also gave us some useful referrals for finding quality, affordable materials -- much better than anything you'd find at Home Cheapo! If you're in the market for remodeling work, Advanced Construction and Repair should be the first company you call.

When I received an email Sunday afternoon about an incident at the rental property in Portland, I panicked. Who do I call? What do I do? I'm in San Francisco. Do I have to run up to Portland and see what's up? I didn't have internet access either because the boyfriend's modem had broken down, and we were waiting for a replacement.
I did a quick search on the Yelp iPhone application and found Advanced Construction. It was hard to do much else on the app, and Yelp Portland was a little lacking in reviews of contractors. So I just called the number of the first place I found with a five-star review.
Jordan Barkhuff answered the phone and listened very patiently to my explanation of what happened. I was pretty stressed out and had been unable to reach any insurance agencies at the time. He offered to check on the property during his break to estimate the cost of damages. I followed up with him the following day, and he walked me through what he could see as far as damages and gave me a very rough estimate of the cost to repair everything.
While this review is not for actual construction or repair work performed because I ended up having to use a different person from the insurance company, I would definitely look to Advanced Construction for future work. The insurance company's estimate was significantly higher than Jordan's, but they had someone picked out.
Service really matters! Jordan was responsive and honest; I felt like I could trust him to fix the mess. I'm very grateful he was one of the folks I worked with through this ordeal, and let me tell you - IT WAS AN ORDEAL. I would recommend Advanced Construction in Portland. We hired Jordan to help us remodal our small kitchen and we found his bid to be inclusive of all costs and within our budget compared to the two other bids we received. We are moving slowly ahead on the project and Jordan has been flexible and easy to work with. He opened up our kitchen and took out a wall and did an excellent job on it in a timely way which allowed us to get our new floors in. He does very good work.

this guy rules, i love my bathroom! He came in every day early and stayed until work was actually done. There wasn't one day we couldn't figure out what he did because we watched our 1980's wallpaper covered (seriously, even the ceiling) bathroom transform into a modern polished nickel/glass tile nirvana. He charged less than the other bids and initially i was concerned that I chose the most inexpensive bid and maybe that would come back when he went to lunch until thursday or I found him napping in my car but Jordon was a total professional who worked hard and seemed to take real pride in what turned out to be a job well done. I can't recommend this guy enough,

I sought bids for a project that I'd started but didn't have time to finish and Jordan was one of the bidders. He was personable and considerate when he inspected the job and, based on this and price, we went with him for the project. Jordan's workmanship is great. He paid attention to the details and consulted me whenever there was a decision to be made that affected the appearance or outcome of the project. He finished the job on time and within budget. I would hire him again - in fact i'll probably hire him again as we get this house ready for sale.

Jordan did an awesome job finishing the drywall in a utility room for me. He was professional, showed up on time each morning, and did a quality thorough job. I'd highly recommend him!!
