Dr.Biegel is a fantastic chiropractor and an all around good guy. He takes his time answering any questions that I have. I've never felt rushed, and I always feel like he listens to me. Also, he has helped me tremendously with an old, chronic lower back injury.
AND let me not forget to mention that if you go see him on Valencia, you get to relax on what I call "the Rolly Table" for 10 minutes while watching Planet Earth DVDs -- sometimes the most relaxing 10 minutes of my whole week!
Just to avoid confusion -- he has two office locations: one is on Valencia and one is on Sansome, I think he's at on Sansome Tuesday and Thurs, then Valencia the rest of the week, but call to make sure.
I'm usually able to get an appointment the same day that I call, which is hugely important for chiropractic care -- if you tweaked something you want it fixed ASAP or else you'll be miserable, am I right?

I'm a law school student and went to Dr. Biegel for several months for stress induced neck pain. I always enjoyed his treatment and it really improved my mobility and eventually eliminated my neck pain. I continue to use the exercises he taught me, which have kept my neck pain free (despite my constant studying). I haven't had any further problems and his billing was painless and reasonable. I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone seeking chiropractic services!

I fainted a few months ago and came to numb and disoriented. I went to several doctors, had EKGs, CT scans, blood work, the works. No one had any ideas, no one could help me, and I'd spent thousands of dollars out of pocket trying to get help or a diagnosis. After all of that, I went to Dr. Biegel. He discussed possible causes and we decided, based on my history and his evaluation, that it might be related to a disk in my neck. $45 and a massage and adjustment later, I felt fine. Numbness was nearly gone, dizziness was gone, I no longer felt disoriented. Dr. Biegel figured out what a team of doctors could not and for that, I am very thankful.
I've been seeing Dr. Biegel on and off for two years now. He has always been honest, caring, competent, and completely upfront with his billing. I'll continue seeing Dr. Biegel and will continue recommending him to my friends in need of care.

Dr. Biegel was very professional, honest, and helpful. I'm glad he was recommended and plan to visit him regularly. It was clear his only interest was to help me with the minimum treatment needed, and not to bleed me/insurance for cash. He even agreed to squeeze me in on his lunch hour for a new patient consult. Parking is easy to find via metered spots on Valencia.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experiences with Dr. Biegel. He and Alla are both very friendly and the office atmosphere is incredibly relaxing. They were great and worked with me and the limitations of my insurance to provide the most affordable care possible.
I love that he takes the time to speak with me about my life in general and then more specifically about my physical health every time I go in for an adjustment. Dr. Biegel demonstrates a genuine and holistic (whole-istic?) concern for his patients' well being.
I have been to other chiropractors and my adjustments there have made me feel like a piece of meat being tenderized for a cannibalistic cookoff. Not so with Dr. Biegel--he does a bit of massage and heat work first to loosen you up and also instructs you on stretching exercises to help the adjustments "take" better.
Plus, the ROLLER TABLE! Oh god, I want one of those for my house. Someday. Someday soon.

I just felt I had to defend Dr. Biegel after having seen his suit in the news. I wanted to say that I had NO problem with his billing practices. Unfortunately, the treatment itself was useless, and actually aggravated my pain, so I don't feel that I can give him more than 2 stars. But I do want to say that the costs/insurance were very upfront, and I'm sure he did the best that he could.

This guy is great. He's always able to squeeze me in and he's gone above and beyond to help me.
I hurt my back, while lifting a 50 lbs computer, at work. I went in and he set me up with regular treatments and helped me with the Workers Comp. I didn't realize the steps that I was supposed to take, for the coverage, and he took care of it. The coverage provider wanted to decline payment so he showed up at court and told me not to worry about a thing! Even though I didn't do what was needed, he took care of it with out asking for anything.
He even shows up at most street fairs and does free massage, for his patients, right there!

A misunderstanding between both parties led us to act out of hand. I chose to ignore Dr. Biegel's initial request to discuss my posting. In hindsight, I should have remained open to his concerns. Both Dr. Biegel and I strongly believe in a person's right to express their opinions in a public forum.
We both encourage the internet community to act responsibly.

I met Dr. Biegel at his booth at the Castro Street Fair several years ago for the simple free neck and shoulder massages he offers to passers-by. At the time, my partner was having back pain, and made an appt to see him, and I also made an appt because of tense shoulders and other maladies of working on the computer all day. Dr. Biegel turned out to be one of those fortunate events in your life that you could not have planned, as I was diagnosed with congenital disc degeneration (by my general practitioner) after having some neural symptoms, and having met Dr. Biegel before, sought him out again for help with this new issue. Not only did he help me navigate through the maze of treatment options, but he helped me read my MRI results and put everything in plain English, gave me a series of exercises to do on my own, and made sure that the symptoms were getting better. He put me on a path to successfully managing my own symptoms when they recur, and did it all with kindness. The friendship and care that he shows is extraordinary.
Finally, it just plain sucks that people who have no clue about Dr. Biegel and have never been a patient are leaving 1 star reviews. It's like road rage- stupid when you do it, and doesn't help anything.

Even though I moved to the East Bay from SF two and a half years ago, I still go to Dr. Biegel for all of my chiropractic needs because there is no shadow of a doubt in my mind that he is the best chiropractor around.
And what makes the "best chiropractor around" the best you ask?
Perhaps it is the amazing customer service both he and Alla the office manager deliver no matter the day or time. If you need an appointment, they will fit you in right away and greet you with a smile.
Or maybe it is the patient/doctor time spent taking a thorough analysis of an injury at an initial visit.
Or his ability to make my back feel good when I come in with it feeling totally wrong.
Or the time spent to explain a procedure.
Or the willingness to answer any questions.
Or the concern for your life on and and off the adjustment table.
Or the skill and ease answering insurance coverage questions.
Or the kindness in finding ways to provide services if money is a concern.
Or the awesome roller tables you get to chill on after your adjustment.
Or the convenient locations: on Valencia a block off of market (M/W/F) and in the financial district on Sansome between Sacramento and California (T/Th).
Dr. Biegel is a chiropractor for the people. He is always willing to offer up any advice, you just have to ask the questions.

Dr. Biegel is a great chiropractor. When I started having pain from clenching my teeth at night, he researched mouth guards that would help alleviate my pain....at no cost to me! His sessions were also very helpful, and after the first appointment I had less headaches and neck pain. Highly recommended!

For years, I suffered from intermittent pain in my right hand and arm. I complained about it to my doctor, but she told me again and again that it was "probably nothing" (that's a direct quote). Finally, having received a coupon for a free consultation from Gold's Gym, I decided to give Dr. Biegel a try.
I'd never been to a chiropractor before, and was worried that I might find myself in the clutches of some crystal waving new ager (not that there's anything wrong with that). But Dr. Biegel put me at ease immediately. He was knowledgeable, professional, and best of all, he actually took my pain seriously.
I started going in for regular appointments. A month or so in, Dr. Biegel noticed an almost undetectable lump just above my right collarbone. On Dr. Biegel's recommendation, I followed up with my doctor, and after innumerable tests, scans and finally exploratory surgery, I ended up being diagnosed with a schwannoma -- a slow growing, benign tumor of the nerve sheath.
The neurosurgeon who removed the tumor last month says that it was approximately the size of a tennis ball. It had been there for years. Even though it was nearly undetectable from the outside, it was wreaking havoc on my brachial plexus, stretching the nerves and pushing them up against the surrounding bone. If it had gone undetected much longer, I might've had permanent nerve damage, or even lost use of my hand or arm. If it had had a chance to get any larger it would have been much more difficult and traumatic to remove (as it was, I was in surgery for eight hours, and they had to cut through my collarbone to get the thing out).
Every doctor I've dealt with, from diagnoses to surgery, has told me how lucky I am that Dr. Biegel found this tumor when he did. He more than likely saved my arm.

This is really about Dr. Biegel's business practices, not his treatments - we had a little confusion about my insurance and what it did/didn't cover. I needed a pretty non-standard treatment and (after a phone call with the doc prior to scheduling) decided to give his office a shot.
For a bit there, I thought I was being taken advantage of because I ended up (unexpectedly) paying a small bit out of pocket when my insurance theoretically covered everything. I spoke to my insurance, then wrote an email to him expressing my frustration, and his response was amazingly gracious. Dr. Biegel was more concerned about the customer than the cash! He refunded not only the out-of-pocket charge, but my co-pay as well. When I realized I was in the wrong after reading his thoughtful response and making a few more phone calls, I told him not to worry and admitted I was wrong. He sent the check anyway with a nice note. His policy about handling treatments not covered by insurance is actually quite reasonable.
As for his clinical ability: Dr. Biegel was thorough and thoughtful during the evaluation, and explained everything to me in plain English. He gets props for that. It's hard to say much about the treatment, though, since the nature of my beast would require a little more than 1 session to know if it made a difference, but I definitely would have returned.
But, again, Dr. Biegel is honest & appears to be concerned about the person that he is treating. I was able to sort out things with my insurance with another provider, but would consider returning to Dr. Biegel for more "traditional" chiropractic care if I ever needed it. (Though I'm a bit embarrassed...)
Kudos to Dr. Biegel for doing the right thing.

I went to see Dr. Biegel for geek neck (tweaked back, neck, and shoulder from being at a computer all day) and after an intense couple weeks of treatment, and because I did regular exercises/stretches and improved ergonomics he taught me, I was all fixed up. My insurance doesn't cover chiropractic, but I felt his pricing was totally fair. I recommend him.

Dr. Biegel is a god among chiropractors. A few years ago I worked in a job that required lots of heavy lifting. I was developing a hunchback...for real. At age 25. I saw Dr. Biegel to help with the debilitating pain I was in every day. He fixed me 100% good as new in a few weeks.
He's a sincerely nice guy, and cares about how the rest of your life is going. Every session I've had has involved an exam, electro-stimulation, a little massage, an adjustment, and a few minutes on a roller or water massage table. Amazing! I float out of the office.
The sessions are worth the cost, even if you don't have insurance to cover it. He sells a package deal of 10 sessions for $350 ($10 off per session), and I've always had 30+ minute sessions. Completely worth the cost.
Alla in the front office is also a goddess - she recognized my voice over the phone even though I hadn't been to the office in over a year. She'll get you in for a same-day appointment almost without fail.
When I moved to the East Bay, he suggested we find me a chiro closer to me. I refused; I am a devoted Dr. Biegel patient!

I was having serious writst pain from long hours of drawing with the wacom tablet. I went to Dr. Biegel and within 2 and a half weeks was pain free. On the contrary to what other people wrote I felt he was extremely honest. I would recomend him to anyone having problems. I still do the exercises he taught me and am going to follow his sound advice. I have friends who also had repetive stress injuries and carpel tunnel and they recieved the same advice from their different doctors. I think he knows his stuff.

I had never been to a chiropractor before I walked into Dr. Biegel's office. I had pretty negative views of the science of chiropractic, let's call it contempt prior to investigation. I had some pretty severe neck and shoulder pain, as well as a disabling emotional illness.
Dr. Biegel has been an incredible part of my recovery. He's not "new age". He's straight-forward, he doesn't pull punches. He's intuitive, and seems to know just how to adjust my body with the perfect amount of pressure. I now report near perfect physical and mental health! With Dr. Biegel's help, I've gotten into a fantastic exercise regimen. My posture is better. I rarely even get a cold these days.
Dr. Biegel rocks!

My girlfriend, Sarah, and I got into a car accident about a week ago. As she was in debilitating back pain, further complicated by her fibromyalgia, I decided to check out Yelp to find a chiropractor near our apartment.
Alas, we found Dr. Biegel and his five star reviews. I called, and then made an appointment for later that day.
Dr. Biegel saw both of us - He eased my sharp lower back pain with just one adjustment.
...And Dr. Biegel has enabled Sarah's back to nearly return to its pre-accident state.
Here's Sarah: Dr. Biegel is amazing. Even though I am from Canada and was leaving to return home shortly, Dr. Biegel found a way to fit me into his schedual and treat me on the remainder of my days in San Francisco. When I went into his office for the first time I could hardly walk and in three days I was able to resume regular activities. Dr. Biegel is extremely good at what he does, but he also takes time to treat you like a human being and is very empathetic to your situation. He calmed my fears about the pain I was in and took the time to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. He is awesome!

I've seen Dr. Biegel for nearly two years and can say with confidence that he is one of the most proficient, generous, and genuine health practitioners you will ever meet. I'm always given the best care at every visit and have never been turned away from seeking an appointment. He is an upstanding person with an admirable view on life and personal health, and I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone seeking chiropractic care.

I have had really mixed results with chiros. Some are really rough, and just manhandle you. And hey- some people love that. Some are really new agey and so delicate that you wonder what they are doing- and want you to stay with them for months. Dr. Biegel is neither of these things, and that's why I keep going back to him.
I love Dr. Biegel. There is something so sweet and calming about him. He's never too rough on my adjustments, and it's actually quit relaxing in his office. He's also very practical about his care- he doesn't try to get you to come back for months at a time. I've had him work on problems with my neck and my back, and he always fixes the problem. I can't recommend him highly enough (and like the earlier reviewer- I adore his assistant).
Oh- and I love that he has a downtown location (as well as a location in the mission), and he is So easy to make an appointment with.

I think I have the best 'hood on the planet.
I've always been grateful for living within a few blocks of Zeit, Blue Bottle and Orbit Room.
I love my dive gym, Valencia Muscle and Fitness.
Now I can add "ACC" to the list. Super easy to get in, super friendly, and by golly- he actually fixed my neck.!!! As a chiropractor virgin, I've felt comfortable, safe and informed how this all works. I would not hesitate to recommend this place.

I had never been to a chiropractor before Dr. Biegel, but decided to give it a shot after I aggravated a back injury in the spring. He was very helpful in terms of explaining my injury and how to get my back feeling better. The one thing that I really appreciated was that he gave me a very manageable program of stretches and exercises. In the past, my experience with doctors and physical therapists is that they give you so many things to do that its like a part time job and it just isn't realistically sustainable in the long run. Dr. Biegel kept it simple and manageable while still being effective.

I sought out treatment from Dr. Biegel after receiving a friend's recommendation and I'm quite phobic of chiropractors in general. Dr. Biegel knows his business and helped alleviate much of my discomfort. He offers practical suggestions and exercises and doesn't promise more than he can deliver. He sets realistic expectations in his treatment plan. Hard working man trying to help people and make a living. I've already recommended him to several people--paying it forward.

Thanks Dr. Biegel for fixing my back problem! I owe my pain-free days and restful nights to you! I heard you charge more than other places, but the service is all around great so I don't mind letting my insurance pick up the extra cost. I love walking into your office knowing that I can relax and enjoy my adjustment.

****THE BEST CHIROPRACTOR ****
Well I have been seeing Dr Biegel for over 2 years now and he has just been amazing. I have never had to wait for an appointment ( Alla is also the best....she makes sure to fit me in his busy schedule) and is very flexible with my schedule. He has helped me through some major health issues ....more recently has been a big part in helping me complete training for 2 marathons (with some the minor problems/injuries I have encountered with running). Without his help I am not sure how I would have coped with these injuries. He is also just an all around great guy that really cares and listens to you as an individual. I have recommended him to many friends and they all have been pleased with their visits to his offices. I can't say enough good things about the good Dr ....he has been instrumental for the good health I enjoy today...for that I am forever grateful. THANK YOU !

my lady and I moved here almost five years ago and have been seeing Dr. Biegel exclusively. It started by me forcing my girlfriend (who was having cronic back pain and no medical insurance) to give it a try. Dr. biegel played an essential role in her recovery.
I see him regulaly for adjustments and just a couple weeks ago he helped me through a back spasm.
He is extremely knowlegable about his practice as well as holistic nutrition, herbs and I recomend him to anybody for cronic pain or simple for maintanence.
