Does anyone know where they went? I have a feeling they were pushed out by the new Target Store development.

I hope they reopen somewhere nearby. If you know anything please let us know.

I love Adoro! I went here for the first time for a friend's birthday, after my roommate suggested it to me. The ambiance is my favorite part. You can find great Mexican elsewhere that is a little less pricey, but everything here was right. The enchiladas were cooked to perfection, and the guac (one of the most important standards of a Mexican restaurant) was delicious. The dim lighting made the setting intimate, and the waiters are definitely cute. Excellent customer service, and overall great dining experience.

$5 Margaritas for Happy Hour! The place itself is a bit small. I still like to come here because its so close to my work. Another plus the bartender looks like Antonio Banderas :)

Food is decent just overpriced Mexcian food. Would only come here for Happy hour.

Food was great! Loved the atmosphere.
It was a weekday night, and we (party of 6) had the place almost to ourselves. Attentive and friendly service.
Chips and salsa was good enough.
I would definitely recommend the enchiladas or the wet burrito--I forget the name, but it's the BIG carne asada burrito buried under sizzling melted cheese.
    I wouldn't get the tacos--it's kinda average.

Waiting for another occasion to go back!

This place just keeps getting better and better.  The portions are bigger (which might not be such a good thing for my waist!) and the prices are lower; but the quality of the food is still superb.

I get annoyed when yelpers flaunt their nationality to pump their review cred but I'm going to have to do it since I saw a few annoying "I'm Mexican so I should Know" that gave bad reviews.

This restaurant has ambiance, great service, strong good drinks, and awesome food.  Don't confuse this with a taqueria, a lonchera, or your tia Cha Cha.  This a higher end Mexican Seafood cuisine restaurant. Me entiendes Mendez??

So I tell you, I am also Mexican and I LOVE this place.  I cook at home every day and can whip up dishes from almost any cuisine and I still come here when I want to have a happy fiesta in my tummy. :)

So give it a chance, it's one of the few neighborhood restaurants that has stuck to its weekend and evening hours.

I would recommend the Enchiladas Cancun or the Mar de Cortez.

I'll wacha later, I gotta run and head there for lunch!

    :)

    Adoro Grille is fabulous!
Owned by an amazing seasoned couple from different parts of the world, this dynamic duo has done an outstanding job in satisfying a creative niche in the Los Angeles Market.

    Upscale Creative/Unique Mexican Cuisine!
Small and intimate, you feel very comfortable when walking in.
The menu has great variety and twists old favorites into incredible new creations.

The sauces, flavors and large portions will make sure you walk away more then satisfied.

The margaritas are fabulous and if you value quality fine dining food with flare and fun, this is your place!

I've been to Adoro a number of times as it is quite conveniently located next to my office.  I'm actually surprised I've never yelped them yet.

Adoro really exceeds in customer service, which is important given they are in downtown and cater primarily to the business professional crowd.  Business professionals are typically client servers and we can appreciate good service when we see it.  We have been a few times for a late bite to eat and when it is slow, you may find the owner, Jacque, sitting on the patio taking a short break from the hustle and bustle.  I think Jacque recognizes us or my friend just likes to talk, but either way Jacque is always very welcoming and hospitable, even if we are just having a beer with some chips.  This really stands out in downtown LA since all the other restaurants are so commercialized and just want your money and a big tip.  Adoro can give you that family feeling.  Even the bartenders and chef are very friendly.

I find it interesting that some reviewers hold Adoro to the standard of needing to be "authentic".  Given the location in downtown LA, do you really expect it to be completely authentic?  If you need it spicy, bring some Tabasaco or Tapatio in your bag.  The food here is pretty good, I don't criticize Panda express for not being authentic Chinese food, it's not supposed to be.

It's tough to make Mexican food "different", and they do a great job of it here. Service is great, although the ambiance is probably a bit more "elegant" than it needs to be.

This place was okay but I'm not so sure my ensalada cobb was worth $17.

it was supposed to come with grilled chicken, egg, bacon, avocado and cheese - it had a good amount of chicken slices, NO egg and maybe TWO bacon bits - seriously?

The guacamole was good but again, the prices here are just super expensive for no reason, i'd go to Rosa Mexicano before heading back here.

I was pleasantly surprised when walking into Adoro on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. This was not the typical food court or chain restaurant as is housed in the rest of the complex.  The decor is pretty amazing.  A slatted wood ceiling, enclaves carved into the walls with Mexican masks, vases and other decor.  The bar is also beautiful displaying the various extensive tequila selection.

We sat at the bar and ordered a Pomegranate Mojito and a Margarita.  My Mojito was delicious and I had to do everything possible not to down it in 3 seconds.  We were given a basket of chips with a trio of salsa and fixings.  The chips were not warm or salted, so that was a minor detail that hopefully can be remedied.  We ordered the appetizer combo plate which was delicious and fresh.  I rarely have had a taquito where you can actually see whole chunks of fresh chicken simply stuffed into the shell.  Very fresh and good, simple ingredients.  The rest of the menu was tempting, with mole dishes, seafood, and typical burritos and tacos.  The prices ranged somewhere around $18-$30, so I hope the dishes are worth a little extra dough.

On this "get away day" before the holiday weekend the restaurant was fairly empty but a few patrons at the bar and a couple tables of conventioneers or late-hanging professionals were enjoying the live Cuban band.  The performance was actually very good and lively.  The bartender and the entire staff were friendly and very attentive.  The restaurant owners were making rounds to tables and chatting with some regulars as well as enjoying the live music.

My suggestions for a new restaurant, especially in this business section of downtown would be to offer Happy Hour.  You know all the lushy professionals are just looking to put the work day behind them without dropping a lot of money.

Overall, I would really like to see this restaurant succeed because this is what makes downtown great, new inventive restaurants and bars.  With a few small details to take care of (chips and happy hour), i think Adoro will stick around.

So this place is over-priced, underseasoned and has crappy service.

My mexi-senses were tingling when I saw the awesome menu, but  I was severely disappointed. We went for a coworker's going away luncheon and were about 12 or so people. The hostess seemed dazed, our server was rude when we tried to substitute sides and was short with us when we tried to get one thing or another.

They don't allow for substitutions and if you want a side salad its 7$. Ugh.

I had a burrito that was 18$! what!? I could've gotten 3 in my hood and some tacos for that! It was angus beef but it was in a wrap, not a tortilla. I didn't order a wrap, I ordered a burrito. My coworker's steak was okay. Even my arnold palmer tasted watered down.

On positive, the food was very pretty! Presentation was impressive but not out of this world. I also liked that they had fresh guacamole. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty.

    Bottom line:
overpriced and bland but pretty. maybe white people would be interested but not I said the little mexican girl.

finally an alternative to the larger restaurants located at the 7th and Fig market place. Adoro (meaning "Adore" from what i've been told) is a small mexican grille with a big inventory of fine tequilas.  it's new and a bit of an undiscovered jewel b/c the bar (which does not yet have a happy hour menu) is still vacant most times during the day.  service is ok and they're still working the kinks out but the food is pretty solid.  - of course, the owners have had lots of practice since they had a lower-end mexican grille located in the pit down below (which has since closed.)

now - speaking of kinks - one of the more colorful aspects of this bar are the 3 tequila bottles adorning the bar's top shelf.  the owner said she bought them b/c they were so pretty and reminded her of perfume bottles... maybe my mind in the gutter but they reminded me of something entirely more... huh... alluring than perfume.

Came here for drinks on a Wednesday night - it can be a bit confusing finding the parking garage, but if you find the right one, they will validate parking for you (not sure how long, but I was there for over 2 hours and still didn't have to pay for parking).

I can only speak to their margaritas (I believe it was $24 - 28 a pitcher) and their salsa and chips.  Margaritas were great - well blended and had strong alcohol content.  Each pitcher probably pours about 6 glasses of margaritas.  The salsa and chips were also pretty good, and was complimentary with the drinks.

I took a look at the food menu - the dishes looked pretty good, although, this is definitely more on the side of upscale Mexican food (entrees were priced from $20-25 a plate).  Was a bit dead on a Wednesday night, so it's probably not a great first date place.  I would probably come back here again for some drinks - not sure if they do happy hour specials or anything like that, but it's a convenient spot for meeting someone who works downtown in the surrounding office buildings.

My friend brought me along because she was writing a review for a paper, but I have thoughts, too!

I'll say the worst thing about the place first: the employees have no sense of personal space. It's almost like the level of personal space allotted in Spain (pretty much zero).

That said, everything else was great! The chips came with delicious salsa selections, the guacamole was incredibly fresh and yummy, the ceviche was refreshing and delicious, and the margarita was Serious. (I don't know if I'd say "seriously delicious", but it certainly took me by surprise and not in a bad way)

On the recommendation of the waiter, I ordered the New York Steak with chipotle mushroom sauce. It. Was. Wonderful. I don't usually eat meat (for many reasons), but this  steak was very well-prepared. The mushroom chipotle sauce was absolutely amazing. The portions were large, but not killingly so. If we hadn't scarfed down guacamole and ceviche before the main course, it would have been the perfect amount of food.

My dinner companion had the mole chicken, which I had a taste of. The mole was good, the chicken was fair... I liked it less than I liked my own meal, but she seemed happy with it. I do recommend the steak hands down, though, so don't even bother with the chicken.

That all said, this place is expensive. I don't have a lot of money to toss around, so I doubt I'll be going back there if someone else isn't paying (and I'd feel guilty if someone else was, since it's pretty pricey). But that's me, not you, so if you have the money to spend on it, I found it really wonderful.

Some other notes about the place:
    1. the wall looks like it has corn chips on it
    2. the large group at the other side of the restaurant was being very irritatingly loud
    3. they do not play ambient music
    4. 7th and Fig, the shopping center it's in, is kind of like a glorified strip mall
    5. the parking structure is off 7th. If you go up Flower and take a left on 7th, it's about a half block down on the left. It's kind of confusing to get to the shopping center from the parking garage, which led us to be a little discombobulated when we got to the restaurant.
    6. they validate (after a $90 meal, I sure hope so!)

Fantastic fancy Mexican!  The location is kind of random, in a sort of outdoor mall setting next to an Ann Taylor and a floor up from a food court boasting such gourmet offerings as Panda Express and Quiznos, but the space feels pretty upscale and intimate.  The service is great and I've only rarely had to wait to be seated.  (The first time I came here I had actually planned on eating at CPK but was deterred by a 25 minute wait!)

Lovely, lovely food.  Chips and salsa are wonderful (they give you a few different salsas that vary by spice and they're all good), and I wish I could talk about a larger variety of dishes, but I'm stuck on the ensalada los cabos.  It is goooooood!  Perfectly moist and flavorful grilled salmon with greens and cranberries and capers and almonds and yummy mango chutney.  A lot of components and they meld together with sweet and tangy magic.  Mmm...

So, I am sitting here at the bar at 2:30 Friday afternoon, enjoying a house maragarita....and it dawned on me that the 7th+Fig mall has internet access. As a result....my very first virtual review.

I am only drinking, but the place is OK. The drinks are sturdy, and hopefully, not because it's a new joint and they want repeat customers before they water down the drinks. I don' think that will happen, and here's why...the owner is Scottish! She owns several restaurants around town. Have you ever heard of a Scot watering down a drink???? No f'ing way. If anything, they'll get stronger as the days go on.

The decore is simple yet authentic. The stonework is fantastic.

I am not going to eat (after all, it's now the weekend...time for my all weekend, all liquid diet) but the food looks pretty damn good. One of the servers was just sitting next to me eating a burrito mole and it looked and smelled great.

I'll update once I actually eat here, but don't wait up for me....drinking is my priority.

Adoro Adoro for its creative Mexican influenced food.  Though it's not El Taurino or even Taco Bell, it does its job in representing toned down Mexican flavors highlighted with newer flavors.

The two dishes I tried were the Ensalada Los Cabos and the Pescado Diablo.  Both featured perfectly grilled fish that melts in your mouth.  The Ensalada Los Cabos is served in a trio fashion with salad, salmon, and an amazing mango salsa.  The Pescado Diablo features a grilled orange roughy (did you know that these have a lifespan of up to 149 years?  respect.  another fun fact: they are usually red, but turn orange/yellow only after death) that literally dissolved the moment it touch my tongue.  What also might have helped this dissolving process was the mild Chardonnay capers garlic sauce sprinkled with a mango-papaya salsa.  This sauce is incredible, and in typical I-like-this-sauce fashion, I dipped everything else (salmon/salad) into this sauce.

After licking my plate clean, I left the restaurant orange thinking about how that pescado was to die for.

The ambiance was clean and colorful.
    The food was subpar.
I hate to say it really.  I don't like to pay more than what the food is worth.  I could honestly get a quesadilla just like it or better elsewhere and not pay the inflated price.
Hopefully they can fine tune the menu enough to bring me back for a more glowing review.  Hopefully.

I had quite a lovely lunch here about two weeks ago. We started with the lobster and shrimp flautas. It was so good I gave my friend a beady eyed look hoping she would turn anorexic and hand over her flauta. Nope. No dice.

For an entree I had the Ensalada Catalina which was a very fine salad topped with a firm yet succulent white fish cooked to perfection and seasoned with capers and other tasty items I can no longer recall beyond my hearty approval. It's a bit pricey for a run of the mill lunch but if you are downtown and feel like Mexican, I can hardly think of anything better. And no, Ciudad is not even in the running.

Not so impressed. Food was ok, service not so great. The place wasn't busy, as I went on a weekend evening, so there really isn't any reason for the service to not be good, beyond the fact that the servers were probably bored.

For me, I expect good chips and salsa when I go for Mexican. I kinda use that as a bellwether for whether the place will be good in general. I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the carnitas, which were fine. The tortillas they brought out were either stale or over-warmed, because once they started to cool, they became hard and flat, and would break when you try to fold them. Not so good for wrapping food in, because it all falls out.

The other reviews rave about the drinks, and I'll admit that I didn't have any alcohol, so I'm not reviewing about whether it's a good place to get sauced at the end of the day. Might come back sometime for that. But for a Mexican place for food? Meh. I think I'll pass, next time.

I had incredibly fresh and tasty ceviche here for an appetizer. Loved the chips and the salsas. Waiter recommended a great Pinot Noir which I and my dining partner loved. Enchiladas Cancun (which were enchiladas with sauteed scallops in chipotle  sauce with guacamole and sour cream) were absolutely to die for. The scallops were PERFECTLY cooked. Pearlescent, fresh and flavorful. Rice was good (although not particularly distinguishing) and black beans were awesome. Somehow we didn't get tortillas, but unless there's a lady making em in the back, it doesn't matter. :-) No dessert for us, but the cappuccino was high-quality and spot-on. My dining partner and I are pretty demanding people when it comes to food, and we emerged VERY satisfied.

Wasn't quite La Serenata de Garibaldi, but close. Everything was beautiful plated.I will absolutely be back. Pricey, but then again, everything was so super fresh, I'll pay it.

As for the "personal space" issue, I felt the owner/hostess and the wait staff were perfect. Friendly and warm, and they made us feel welcomed, and they were never overbearing. Half the places I go I get to know the owners and staff so well we hug anyway, especially places owned by Europeans. So what? Dining should not always be stiff like the French Laundry!

I wanted an intimate setting for my birthday dinner with close friends.  Aside from the hard-to-find location, this place was perfect.  On a Saturday night, we almost had the place to ourselves!  How awesome is that?  (I'm not attracted to popular places with huge crowds because the wait is always crazy long on Saturdays.)  Delicious food, great margaritas, cozy size room, and quaint interior decor - what more could you ask for?  Oh and the waiter was very accommodating and offered excellent service.  Our party thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I was really surprised.  The restaurant itself looks very upscale, its very tastefully done.  I wasn't expecting this in the shopping center area at 7th and Fig.

Service was outstanding.  The wait staff and the hostess were the nicest I have ever experienced, always making sure your visit is a good one.

Three types of salsa with your chips, all were excellent.

The food.  UH.  MAZE.  ING.  The food was really really really really good.  Like, really really good.

I had the carne asada (medium rare) and my wife had the spinach enchiladas.  At most places we get so much (as you do here) that we always end up bringing leftovers home.  Not here, it was so good I had to finish what I had.

This is definitely in my top 10 (possibly my top 5).  Would highly recommend, hey I'm definitely going to go back.

Adoro, do I adore thee? Yes + no.

Striking in its appearance, Adoro's cultural misappropriations are subdued, giving the place an almost modern Southwest aesthetic. The gorgeous candelbras, buckets of leafless branches + wicker cabinets of alcohol are nice flourishes to the restaurant's look.  Located just off the street at the 7th + Fig shopping area, Adoro benefits from being just enough away from the street that it feels more intimate, but not too separated to where you can't stumble out after a stomach-expanding lunch.

The food was delicious, but significantly overpriced. Although advertised as "authentic" Mexican cuisine, I'd argue it's more fusion. Taking traditional Mexican dishes + mixing in interesting or foreign flavors to a satisfying climax. I had a Crispy Chipotle Chicken Ensalada, which comes in a large tostada with chicken tenders, avocado, bacon, cheese + mustard-poppy seed dressing. Plus, I paid over $2 for a lemonade. That's ridiculous. However, if you're looking to take someone out to a "nice" Mexican place Downtown, this would be the spot.

Tucked away and off the street in the heart of downtown, this small little mexican joint is gourmet to say the least. Its definitely on the pricey side for mexican, but the super fresh and chunky guac, high end margies and freshest ingredients in the food make it worth the extra bucks. Its also adorable and looks like a wine bar even though its technically in a mall.

I gave it 4 over 5 stars because parking and walking to it felt like a lot of work for what at first seemed to be a mall restaurant, but it was all worth it walking back to car feeeling diminutive under the beautiful downtown night sky while pondering what I might order next time I return.

Great for a first date. :)

Very average, overpriced Mexican food.  I work at 777 Fig so this place is pretty much in my building.  On my first day of work I was taken here for my welcome lunch.  The chips and salsa were pretty good and the portions were decent.  The entrees, however, were very average especially considering the prices.  (Good thing I didn't have to pay!)  I do like that they offer wheat tortillas.  Makes you feel a little less guilty for all the chips you just inhaled.  :)

It started off with the friendly owner who brought the homely warm feeling to the place. He's a connoisseur of liquor who talked in length as he drank samples with a guest of the bday party who works for Jim Beam Intl.

The food was above avg in taste. What stood out was the presentation for this genre of food. Unique to Mexican cuisine is the lack of minding to any presentation of their plating. Here I would say they are top 3 in presentation yet lacks the 5 star touches. The chef is in love with bathing dishes in sauces and asparagus on almost every plate.

I'm a flan lover at the least having tried flan all over Mexico and the US since I was a kid. Their flan is I would say top 5 for its deep vanilla favor with the jello-pudding like consistency was thicker than any flan I've every tried. Great presentation on that plate too. OK OK, I liked the chips, thin, hot, and just right, though I wouldn't mention it unless worth it.

The service was great! Very attentive! The chips and salsa are fresh like every review states. Everyone luv'ed their order. I luv'ed my spinach enchiladas! The margaritas are divine. Everything just seemed made to order and the ingredients seem as fresh as can be. The decor also very nice.

The wait staff was friendly and the food was okay, but I see no point in patronizing this inconveniently located restaurant.  I wanted to give it a try, hoping Adoro would become a regular dining spot.  I live downtown and have been looking for good Mexican food here since moving a year ago.  The food was unremarkable and a little expensive.  The decor is nice, but there was no soap in the restroom - a minor point, but it makes you wonder how the employees are able to wash up properly.

The way I found out about the restaurant was through the Downtown LA website, where Adoro was offering 20% off for the whole month of April.  This seemed like a good excuse to give it a try, but after dining, they
refused to honor the promotion.  Needless to say, this left a pretty bad impression, on top if the mediocre food.  I doubt if I will ever patronize this place again.

I went to this place last night and was highly impressed!
The decor was impressive, most of the time you run into overly done up restaurants that end up being tacky, but this place was nice!
The service was great,  and although the bartender looked insanely busy, she still was courteous and attentive.  I can't wait to go back and try the food, which by the looks of it looked really good!

The margaritas are decent and the food is pretty authentic.  It's not really the liveliest place for a restaurant.  I haven't seen more than a few parties at a time in the place.  Seating is never an issue.  The ritas come in small portions and the food is kind of overpriced--especially for Mexican food.  Parking is available in the lot.  I usually get the carne asada, which is delish.

I've been there twice and my second visit suggested that much improvement has been made since they started.  Both times the service was wonderful and the atmosphere was superb.  They had a live band the first time I went which was just lovely.  The second time they did not have live music but it was a great atmosphere.

Despite all of this, the food was just okay. Actually the first time we had dinner there the food was pretty bad.  Our second dinner there (several months later) the food was just okay. This place would be sooo great if more improvements were made in the tastiness of the meals. The presentation is wonderful, its the overall flavor that needs some work.

I, like a lot of Angelenos, am  a fiend for Mexican food..
Let's be honest, I would bathe in the shit if I could. That being said I also have had a LOT of it from many different places ( I mean hey, I aint at the gym every day fo' nothin') and I know what I like.
Adoro is definitely not in a peak location as is evidenced by it's slower traffic. I stopped in here with a co-worker after a long day, curious to see what it has to offer.
I have to say that the staff are exceptionally friendly and fun ( the owner sent us over some drinks). Although there seems to be a regular crowd, poor Adoro was pretty empty, especially for Happy Hour on a Friday night. Obviously the economy has slowed things down, but even so.. yikes.
We loved the bartender here, she's  great and makes a mean margarita. Definitely exactly the kinda cool chick you want making drinks and chatting with ya . Weirdly enough, their chips were some of the best Ive had and guac was tasty. Their enchiladas were o-k, slightly above average but not really as flavorful as I usually like.
We had a blast because of the fun staff ... am I in a huge rush to come back ? Not sure... but I definitely like a small business that appreciates and caters to it's patrons. Very refreshing !

Actually the food was pretty good and the ambience was nice but I found a hair in the steak. It happens but eww. The server and manager were very apologetic about it and took it off the bill. As they should, right?? Their habenero hot sauce is damn good.

Bartender/waiter Heraldo has an amazing smile and extremly good service. Margarita is tasty- silverado especial and the spinach/ chicken chipotle enchiladas are yummy good. Salsa needs to be more spicy but it is fresh. The chipotle has a bit of a bite that is nice and sweet.

dine la brought me here and i have to say, it was totally bang for the buck.  SO MUCH FOOD.  and great service too.  it wasn't the best mexican food ever or anything - you can't expect that from a place in a mall, but it was seriously yummy stuff.  apparently the sangria is really good and "clean," their ceviche is delish, and their steak is really good.    the notable thing for such an expensiveish place are the portions, it makes the whole experience so worth it.
