41st 5 star Yelp review!! This place has not yet received anything less than 1 star!

I quote from their pamphlet:  "Why haven't I met a manager or owner yet" - It's no accident you haven't seen us, we work hard to maintain behind the scene because we want you to spend quality time together...that's MUCH appreciated!

Came here on a perfect February weekend with boyfriend. The lights turn on automatically as you walk down the hall and the room was way more than we could have ever expected for the price we paid.

The fireplace was definitely a nice touch and the bathroom is fully equipped and modern and the jacuzzi tub a nice edition. The tub doesn't fit two but that's fine as I'd rather have my own "me time" in the bathroom anyway.

The breakfast was self serve and included yogurt, home made granola, fruit, yummy colorful scones with fancy jams, home made orange juice, coffee and tea. Their eating area overlooks their garden and music is playing in the background, it's such a refreshing way to start your day!

They have a huge relaxing communal livingroom and another smaller room for using the computer.

I really liked how our room overlooked a small garden that was closed off so nobody could walk around and look in our room. We had a sense of privacy the entire time and only bumped into 1 other person who was very respectful and quiet.

Private - Super Comfortable - Peaceful.  Will be back!

I don't tend to stay at B&Bs much because of the lack of privacy -- not the case at all at Adobe on the Green.  The lay out provides privacy.  And then the host is clearly very detail orientated, as they've thought of everything you need, yet do it in an easy self serve sort of way that I really appreciated.  Nice linens / ipod plug in / etc. were appreciated too.

Looking for a short after-xmas staycation & Santa Cruz fit the bill

Adobe On Green Street was the perfect getaway for our Holiday needs

We stayed in the Retreat Room & it was spacious & quiet - never heard a peep from our neighbors....in fact, the whole house was totally quiet to the point, we felt like we needed to whisper - which was a nice break from the hustle-bustle of city life

We encountered 1 other guest right as we arrived, who let us in & tried to help us find our room.....we were super tired & had just come in from a late flight.  Add that to the nice dimly-lit living room & it all equaled us not reading our instruction card properly to see the nice directions to our room

But after a bit of bumbling & an embarrassing phone call to the owners, we finally located our Retreat Room bliss

Beds super-comfy as were the pillows.  Shower had okay water pressure but the hot water never ran out & this is a good thing!  Some B&Bs require strategically timed showers....you know, you've all been there

Speakers to connect your iPods, plenty of plugs to recharge all kinds of electronics, access to the fridge for those late-night snacks or an early morning coffee in bed

Speaking of.....the breakfast is a Continental diner's paradise - bagels w/ cream cheese, homemade Apricot Balsamic Vinegar Jam, Almond Butter, cereals, yogurt (including soy!) hard-boiled eggs, homemade blueberry & peach / passion fruit scones.....are you full yet?

Santa Cruz was a great central point for day-trips & knowing we had a nice, warm, cozy room to come back to made the days that much more enjoyable

This past weekend was my birthday and my boyfriend surprised me by taking me to this bed and breakfast. The Adobe was absolutely amazing! I loved how charming the house and our room were, but moreover I appreciated the sense of privacy. Each person had their own entrance into the house and we never ran into anyone except for when we went to get breakfast.

The breakfast was healthy and organic. They had amazingly delicious passion fruit and blueberry scones. In addition, they catered to lactose intolerant individuals like myself and provided soy yogurt and rice milk. What makes Adobe so great (on top of the great breakfast and charming, spacious rooms) is how close in walking distance it is to downtown- you can easily go wine tasting, enjoy a fancy dinner, indulge in olive oil tastings, etc. My boyfriend did quite well and I hope we can make our way to The Adobe again sometime =).

This place was AWESOME. I was hesitant to stay at a bed and breakfast because they can sometimes not be private enough but I didn't experience that at all. Our room was cozy and unique, nicely decorated and clean, with a private entrance. In fact, we didn't see a single person the whole time we were there (which I liked) even though the B&B was totally booked. When we went to get our delicious breakfast music started to play like magic. I loved the petite, homemade scones, hard boiled eggs, and coffee. I seriously couldn't think of a better place to stay for a little retreat. Oh, and I forgot to stay, there was a crackling fire in the wood stove. What a nice touch!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Adobe on Green Street from January 26th-January 28th for our 6 year anniversary and it was so much more than I expected.

I had never been to a B&B and was expecting awkward and forced conversations with the inn-keepers and the other guests. Boy was I wrong. We stayed in the Old Adobe (not listed on the website) and we honestly did not see another person the entire time we were there, even though the place was fully booked. --we had our own entrance with a couple chairs outside which was pretty cute.

I cant even begin to describe the experience that we had because it is so different from anything I had ever experienced before.

Just SOME of the things that make this B&B incredible:the chocolates in the living room, the fireplace lit in the morning, the location, the CLEANLINESS (one of my major issues with big hotels is that they feel so sterile, yet so yucky..however, I had no issue whatsoever at AoGS), and the price, etc. etc. I literally could go on for days...in fact, Adobe on Green Street was all I could talk about for weeks. My yelp profile picture is actually my boyfriend and I standing outside!

We are planning on going back and staying longer over the summer because we are having withdraws!

If you do not stay here at least once you are missing out...and I promise, once you stay once, you will have to come back. Serrriously.

The Adobe on Green Street is as close to heaven as you can get here on planet Earth. When my wife and I visit our son at UCSC it's our first choice. The decor and garden is superb.

The food is healthy and delicious. And it is so quite, I mean monastery-like quiet. And you never see the staff. The food is put out magically at night (a bit unnerving, but kinda cool). Also, a bit strange, is they label and put notes on everything. Lastly, they are walking distance from Downtown.

On my last visit, the room I was in had a bad odor and they comped me the night and although the Adobe was full they put me up in their other property - the Hinds Victorian Guest House - A real find.
Victorian Guest House (that I also really love!)

The perfect place for our "babymoon".

With twins on the way, my husband and I needed a bit of a getaway before they arrived.  As you can imagine, I'm not as mobile as I was a few months ago.  Therefore, Santa Cruz seemed like a good place to go.  It was easy to get to and no flying.

This is not the sort of B&B where the proprietor hovers over you.  In fact, we never saw them at all during our stay.  There was a number to call if we needed anything and detailed information left for us on arrival.

    1) The place was very quiet.  it was definitely the place to go for R&R and quiet.  We could not hear any of the other guests in the place from our room

    2) Lots of sitting areas.  This includes both indoors and outdoors.  The gardens are really lovely and a great place to hang out and read a book.

    3) The continental breakfast is really great.  The scones are incredibly delicious and I wish that I  had the recipe for them.

    4) Our room was large and comfortable.  The bed was softer that I prefer, but I know that most people like soft beds while I like them about as hard as a rock.

    5) The location is really close to downtown so it is really easy to walk to shops and restaurants for dinner.  I liked that we didn't have to drive everywhere.

This was a perfect place for a private, quiet, and romantic getaway.

You can call me a hater. It's ok. I don't mind. My sister's boyfriend does...and it's because it's true! I am a hater! I have long lists of things I hate: inefficiency, snapping and popping gum, food crumbs left in the sink, hair left in the shower drain, people who are moochers, people who waste...

Number 336 on my hate list is the following:

    336) I hate mingling with/being forced to socialize with/share a breakfast with TOTAL strangers at a bed and breakfast!!!

So, if you have this similar hate, then you will be very happy at Adobe on the Green. Here, you are ALONE. You are left to your own devices. You don't even have to meet with the owner of the B&B, they just leave you the keys in a nice secret spot, and you are on your own! Breakfast is a small buffet, and you serve yourself! There are 3 separate tables, so you DON'T have to chat with other guests if you don't want to!

We stayed in the Lookout Room, which is the most secluded of all the rooms. Very cute room, very nicely decorated. Nice view down to the gardens. The bed was so-so. I thought it was kind of lumpy.

There is internet access in the building, either via wireless on your own laptop or you can use their computer downstairs. There is a tv with dvd player in the rooms and a small selection of movies downstairs. And there is cable.

There are nice gardens, to sit and read in, all around the building. There is a fireplace and chocolates in the entry way. Downtown Santa Cruz is just a few blocks walk away.

But most importantly, there is peace and quiet. You really don't have to interact with anyone. And that for me as A+...

I just stayed here this past weekend and my gf and I really enjoyed it!  Drinks in the fridge, indoor and outdoor seating for meals, fresh baked scones as a part of the breakfast, complete peace and quiet, convenient location, very clean, and a great last minute rate on the rooms!

Each room has an entrance into the main house as well as it's own personal exit.  We didn't even see a single soul there during our stay even though the place was completely filled because of the AIDS bike ride this past weekend.

This B&B gets four stars only because the one we stayed at in Half Moon Bay was just a step above every B&B i've ever seen...this one was a close, yet decidedly clear second place.

    Happy B&B-ing!

Stayed at Adobe on Green last night and loved it!

    * Walking distance to downtown Santa Cruz (<5 mins) but on a very quiet street
    * Good local recommendations
    * Delicious breakfast - even though it's not a 'hot' breakfast, it was more than ample and quite a bit healthier I'm sure
    * No weird interactions with other guests or the inn-keepers.  (They purposely stay out of your hair - you don't even see them when you receive the keys)
    * Well-stocked: up-to-date magazines, drinks, toiletries - really everything you need

    Only suggestions I'd have are:
    * Leave a few snacks out for guests in the afternoon (could be as simple as some trail mix or gourmet potato chips)

I think I've found my place in the sun.

I go to Santa Cruz a bit for business and while I'm there I like to take extra time and hang out.  The town is an antidote for my day to day life.  The beach, surfers, relaxed pace, good restaurants, clean air and mellow climate are all things I don't find at home.

I've tried staying at all the bigger hotels on Ocean Street. None of them are that great. I've stayed at the Dream Inn.  Nice, but too expensive. I decided to try some of the smaller hidden places and this one is a find!

Every thing about my two night stay was just as I wanted it to be.  These folks get points as much for what they don't do as for want they do.  They don't bug you.  Privacy is a priority here.  They haven't cluttered up the place with photos of their grandkids and lace and doilies everywhere.  The decor and design here is simple and stylish.  The adobe architecture surrounds you with beauty and keeps the place very quiet.  The beds and linens are comfortable and natural.  The check in and check out are self-serve and very easy. The location is perfect...in a secret garden. Finally, the prices are unexpectedly low during the mid week.

I could go on and on...but I want to leave some surprises for you to find on your own.  I'm not searching anymore.  I'm going back next time I'm in town.

All the other reviewers pretty much said it all, so I won't waste too much time repeating them. Adobe on Green is an awesome place to stay. Private. Relaxing. Comfortable. Clean. Beautiful. Homey. Quiet. Convenient. Surprisingly affordable for the quality.

My boyfriend and I came here and stayed in the Fireside Room, and loved every minute. From the delicious and simple breakfast, to the jacuzzi tub, to the comfy bed, to the romantic fireplace, to the complimentary bottled water/soda/juice squeeze, it was all amazing. I highly recommend it, and I can't wait for my next visit.

So awesome.  I went to college in Santa Cruz so it almost felt sacrilegious to be paying for a hotel in town, but I booked this B&B for my boyfriend's birthday because I was planning this whole Santa Cruz weekend--we visit almost every other weekend, but never overnight.  Adobe was so perfect.  Location, privacy, amenties, everything was great.  It really felt like I was right at home (if my home was a gorgeous villa with great landscaping), and unlike a lot of B&Bs, the furnishings are simple and stylish (none of that crazy creepy floral wallpaper and mahogany Victorian furniture).  You can tell that the innkeepers want their guests to feel comfortable and have everything they need.

As a sort of Santa Cruz townie, I also agreed with almost every one of the recommendations they provided in a booklet in the rooms on places to eat and shop.

When we decided at the last minute to try to take a trip along the coast on Christmas/New Years week, I thought we were out of luck.   We found the  Adobe and were pleased that they happened to have openings (we would have to switch rooms the 2nd night, but variety is the spice of life!)  AND that we were not charged peak rates (felt like a steal for the value!)
Our vision was a romantic and private getaway and we got it -  the beds were so nice and cozy and we could barely hear anyone else in the house.
Breakfast was basic and sufficient - I was really glad there was fresh fruit and yogurt.    If you desire more, just a few blocks away are several other morning options.
I have to defend the owner on their no third person policy  -  the charm and beauty of the Adobe was the quiet, privacy and romance.

This place is amazing.I had a weekend away here and I could not believe the attention to every last detail, and it seemed to happen as if by magic. Keys are left in a secret place, nice breakfast is spirited out through a small window in the kitchen. I think the only interaction I had with anyone apart from my partner was when I called to make the reservation.

Incase you're feeling romantic, flame-less candles are provided, as the real thing is not allowed. There was a guidebook to local restaurants and attractions provided, which we used to find our dinner destination, which was worth every penny (see review). I slept better in the bed here than I had in weeks--note to self: buy a new mattress. If you brought a bottle, wine glasses are available in the kitchen as is plenty of fridge space.

There is complimentary internet provided as well as wireless throughout the house. The gardens surrounding the house are gorgeous (we visited in Spring when they were in full bloom)! and downtown Santa Cruz is a short walk away. The price was reasonable for the level of service (or lack thereof, a good thing in this case) and I would definitely return again but it seems that every time I call they're booked up. Someone talked.

Everything I read about this place before staying here last week was spot on.  This place is so fabulous we wished we could have stayed longer.  The part I loved the most was that we could just park the car and walk everywhere.  The room we had felt secluded and warm.  You can tell that the owners really put their heart into this place.  They have set it up so you never see them.  I appreciate that philosophy.

There is this wonderful book they have put together that outlines all of their recommendations in Santa Cruz and surrounding.  We referred to this book several times.

If you are staying in Santa Cruz and want a convenient retreat, do yourself a favor and book a room at Adobe on Green Street.  They are reasonably priced and fabulous all the way around.

Mr. T and I came here for our anniversary and it was a great retreat. The setting is spectacular on all levels. The house itself is beautifully designed  and tasteful, great for hanging out and reading by the fire or in  your room. The breakfast, which is continental, is laid out in the most beautiful breakfast nook that looks onto the well-kept gardens. The location is perfect in relation to Santa Cruz also; it is a five-minute walk from downtown so you can get to cafes, restaurants, the movies, whatever.
Adobe on Green is very quiet; we never even saw the inkeepers and weren't forced into any of those weird bed-and-breakfast awkward conversations. Mr. T is pretty wary of B&Bs but we both agreed this place is perfectly executed.

    Summary: No pink stuff. Awesome.

I try and avoid the chain hotels whenever I can, but a few recent experiences in "traditional" bed and breakfasts, full of "pink fluffy stuff" (bedspreads, tacky trinkets, overly perfumed), have almost steered me back in the chain direction. I'm pleased to say that the Adobe renewed my faith in B&B's.

    Some reasons why:
    1. Tasteful, pleasant decor and layout
    2. Simple brekkie - no greasy eggs, fresh blackberries!
    3. Super comfy beds and pleasant bedrooms (we stayed 2 nights - 1 night we were in the Lookout room - great views, spacious; 1 night in the Mission room - lovely bathtub)
    4. Cute squirrels in the garden
    5. All-pervasive Wifi, and a great selection of DVDs for you to borrow
    6. Super quiet, even though located quite close to Route 1
    7. Super easy to get to, and get away from since close to Route 1, thus great to use as a base for journeys south to Monterey, Capitola etc.
    8. 5 minute walk to Pacific Avenue
    9. Good rates, and well organized arrival/departure arrangements
    10. No pink fluffy stuff (see 1)

If you're planning to spend even one night in Santa Cruz, you don't even need to consider staying anywhere else... Adobe on Green is perfection!!

The B&B is indeed very private and quiet. My boyfriend and I wondered at several times during our stay if we were the only ones there.

There's a lot of thoughtful attention to detail everywhere! I mean, it's not anything super fancy like champagne in your room or mints on your pillows, but it's really just a class act, pure and simple. They've literally thought of everything! I felt so pampered, but the crazy thing was, they do it all in the background. It's like living in a house with invisible servants. =)

As for their breakfast... Sure it was simple, and I'm usually not a fan of continental breakfasts, but this was definitely a case of simplicity working in their favor. The whole experience was so clean, refreshing, but most of all, healthy--I was more than satisfied.

My boyfriend and I had the Fireside room one night and the Retreat room the next. I definitely preferred the Retreat room because it was much more spacious (and we actually got it cheaper than the Fireside because of their midweek rate), but both were very cute and quaint. I especially loved their fire burning gas stove heater!

All in all, I really didn't want to leave!!

(To address Tamar N's issue, I can see how it may be a little hard to find at night, but during the daytime it's pretty straightforward. And it's walking distance to downtown!)

My boyfriend and I slipped away from SF for an overnight to Santa Cruz and stayed here. We loved this place, very peaceful and serene. The rooms are beautifully done and the bathroom is fully stocked - with Tom's toothpaste, no less.

We went downtown for dinner and then to the Catalyst for a show. We walked from the place - a very easy and nice walk there and back. This is a great place to stay if you have events happening downtown.

I loved this B&B. Unassuming, very clean, extremely private (almost eerie), comfortable, conveniently located. But it was the little touches that made it amazing. Lindt truffles and recent magazines in the lobby, books and DVDs and a modern (!) computer in the library, plenty of amenities, thoughtfully provided lanterns, wonderful freshly-baked scones and delicious homemade jam for breakfast. I was in Santa Cruz to take the LSATS, and Adobe on Green Street definitely helped with my stress level. If I'm ever in Santa Cruz again, I'm staying here for sure.

Couldn't be better.  The attention to detail and cleanliness was outstanding.  Continental breakfast was awesome - healthy and quaint (bagels & homemade jam, homemade mini scones, granola & milk or soy milk, yogurt (soy or cow), hard boiled  eggs, fresh fruit).  I always wear slippers in hotel, no bare/stocking feet, but here I felt everything was so clean, I didn't use my slippers at all.  I loved the attention to detail - the note upon check-in explaining everything, the binder in the room with lots of helpful suggestions and info, the 3 boxes of Kleenex instead of 1 box of scratchy tissues.  Simple and nice decor, a place you wouldn't mind hanging out in on a rainy day.  And mostly, the privacy - felt like our own secret place.  I would stay again in a minute, and am looking forward to going back.

My only complaint about this place was the total goon I was dating who brought me here. On the upside, without said goon, I might have never found out about this place.

This isn't the place to stay if you want an elaborate breakfast, long conversations with your hosts or to be surrounded by the tchotches and photos of someone else's family. To me, this place was the perfect hybrid of cozy and hands off. We stayed there during a storm and the power went off but like the work of magical pixies, lanterns appeared, logs showed up in the fire, breakfast was set out, etc. The hosts are intent on creating a private retreat for guests. They do not live on the premises and work hard to keep a low profile- which doesn't mean they aren't really cool should you be lucky enough to experience a sighting!

We stayed in the Lookout Room which was beautiful. Everything in The Adobe is impeccably clean. The beds are insanely comfortable. What is amazing is that you are so close to Downtown Santa Cruz (walking distance) and yet, you would almost never know it because it's so quiet and they have done such a fabulous job with the gardens that you feel tucked away. We stayed mid-week when rates were super reasonable which sweetened the pot!

Breakfast is simple- continental style really- which they readily own up to on their Website (with a recommendation for another B&B if a very elaborate breakfast is more your thing) but for vegans/vegetarians, there are plenty of choices (e.g., fresh fruit, soy milk, soy yogurt, etc.) There are also some really nice touches for guests- a well-selected video library, lots of books, a Mac for guest use, 24/7 beverage and kitchen availability, etc.

My new favorite place for a close weekend getaway!

This is a *very* quiet and very* private B&B in Santa Cruz. In fact, they bill themselves as "The quiet B&B in Santa Cruz." It's tucked away on a small side street just north of downtown Santa Cruz within hearing distance of the bells of the Civic Auditorium. It's modest and smart and clean throughout with Victorian charms and accents. They offer 4 styles of rooms with no adjoining walls between them so you really feel like you're they're by yourself. I didn't run into any other guests or the caretakers and felt like I was in that episode of Twilight Zone where a couple wakes up in a town with no people. It can be a two-sided coin where you prize the privacy and feeling of owning the entire place as if it were your private home (access to the kitchen, den, computer room, gardens, etc.) while also feeling a wee bit existential and slightly chilled from the solitude. It's a great getaway for couples or even for someone needing a personal retreat for themselves. No nosie Parker owners feeling obliged to play hosts and no mob of couples invading your space.

The "Lookout Room" is the largest room and the only one on the 2nd floor contained within the main building. They all have "Englander Natural Latex" beds instead of traditional box springs so it kind of feels vaguely like a Posturepedic foam mattress but not so conforming.

It's tucked away on a quiet street (maybe 130 yards long at most) but has central access to downtown venues. Check-in and check-out are all done facelessly (analog style with none of that TV checkout they do in hotels). They have some nice small touches like a guide to Santa Cruz activities and restaurants that has a Yelpie feel to its descriptions rather than the typical and generic travel propaganda issued by more commercial lodgings.

Quiet retreat where you almost never see the hosts or other guests and feel like you own the place.  The breakfast was really tasty and the organic eggs were scrumptious (and I usually hate hard-boiled eggs).  We stayed in the Fireside room which was beautiful and opened onto a patio complete with fountain.  Reasonable price (we stayed on a Sunday night) and quaint garden to enjoy a bottle of wine with your loved one.

one of my favorite B&Bs ever.

very DIY air about it, yet the whole place is so well taken care of and stocked that you don't feel neglected in the least.  very tranquil, clean, and cozy.  nice continental breakfast in a room overlooking beautiful gardens.  and they provide recycling and even composting in the kitchen!

had a relaxing and lovely stay there both times i've been.  and that short walk to pacific ave cannot be beat.

one thing to note about the Fireside Room - there's only one window in the room that opens.  the bathroom windows also don't open.  it's to keep noise out, but when it's warm it'd be nicer to have more than one available to open!

This place is perfect.  The only issues I had were that it was a little hard to find and once I got there (at 8:30pm) it was a little tricky to find out how to get in the place.  After that, it just got better.  It is very private and quiet, my bed was amazing, the breakfast was perfect and they even have black squirrels running around.

I came here for Memorial Day Weekend with my boyfriend, and there was only one room left and available to book. So I took it right away. This place  is amazing, it seems like its made for older couples who have had kids and need to get away, but the rooms are amazing. The house is gorgeous, with fountains in the yard, and a garden surrounding the premises.  There is no one there besides the other visitors, but you get plenty of privacy. Apparently no two rooms share a common wall, so you don't hear neighboring voices. There's a room with a DVD library and internet, with a couch to relax and read.  There's a room with a fireplace and couches. There's a kitchen you can help yourself to with plenty of beverages for guests.  It's right downtown, you can go anywhere from this B&B. The beach, the Pacific Ave, the UCSC campus. All of it.

Can I give -1 Star? We'd previously been very happy with a stay we'd had there, and planned to return with our 6 month old baby for a 2 day break in their upstairs room which has a small ante room.

We were curtly informed that they don't allow three guests.

Now I'm sure they can do whatever they like in the way of discriminating against classes of people they don't like, Breeders among them, but frankly they gone to the bottom of places I have ever stayed, and I've stayed in some doozies.

    Feel free to apologize, owners.

My husband and I stayed here for our 18th anniversary. It was wonderful! Completely quiet, totally comfortable, didn't have to interact with anyone else and had full access to the fridge and kitchen any time. The bed was comfortable, the tub was deep and the water hot. Simply beautiful! Easy access to everything in Santa Cruz. The Best!

This was one of the best places we have ever stayed at. The quiet surrounding, beautiful garden, great food, and wonderful rooms makes this place a magical retreat for two.  If you are looking for a romantic getaway, this place beats all hotels.  You have lots of privacy and lots of places to eat around you as well. It's really the best of both worlds.  Even though we live in San Jose which is only a half hour away this place seems like worlds away. :)

My sweetheart and I stayed here for a badly-needed getaway, and the Adobe was perfect in every way. Our room was quiet, immaculate and tasteful. There were Ipod speakers, extra blankets, wooden hangers, and an iron and ironing board at the ready. The natural latex mattress was so comfortable we are thinking of purchasing one ourselves. The bath was complete with a spa tub, spacious shower, nice fixtures, blow dryer and good-quality natural toiletries.

In the library room there is a laptop one can use, and wireless is available throughout the building. There is a good selection of DVDs and books, and battery-operated electric candles for your room if you want a romatic glow. The fridge is stocked with drinks. The owners have written up a helpful and detailed list of places to eat and shop, a lot more personal than the slick tourist guides you tend to see.

The gardens and back patio are lush and secluded, sprinkled with places to sit and relax with a book or coffee. The cozy living room area has big leather arm chairs and a fireplace. The self-serve breakfast was perfect for us (we're not giant breakfast eaters)-- coffee, tea, juice, dairy and soy yogurt, fresh local boiled eggs, pastries, bagels, fruit, granola, cream cheese, jam, lemon curd. There's a sunny breakfast nook that overlooks the front garden.

The owners were like invisible elves. We never saw them. Our keys were left in a box with a note that had our name on it. We found the breakfast set out when we went to the kitchen. The owners were always available by phone, however. We called them a few times to ask questions about places to go in Santa Cruz and they were friendly and helpful.

There were some workers installing solar panels on the roof during our stay. The owners mentioned it to us when we reserved the room and gave us a nice discount. Even without the discount, the room rate was very reasonable.

    We'll definitely be back.

We were looking for a quick getaway-- something more than a day trip, but less than a full on lose-all-worldly-anxiety affair.  A trip to Santa Cruz from SF via Hwy. 1was perfect.

The best things about the Adobe are:

    1.  no minimum two night stay.  I was so surprised how hard it is to find any place (besides a motel) within a three hour drive of SF that doesn't require this in the summer.
    2.  Everything is well-kept, from the gardens, to the library, to the room we stayed in.  My BF is usually anti-B&B, and really liked this place.
    3.  The thoughtful and thorough guide that the owners have put together to get you started exploring Santa Cruz.  We took their suggestions and ate a delicious meal at Red restaurant, visited the Giant Bamboo nursery, and watched two families get eggs from the egg vending machine at the Glaum Egg Farm!  These were fun and quirky things to do on top of the usual trip to the Boardwalk and downtown shopping.
    4.  Breakfast!  Delicious coffee, granola, yogurt and fresh fruits.  A peanut box squirrel feeder is placed right outside the kitchen window so that you can watch one of those clever squirrels stuff himself silly with peanut after peanut.

Thank you Adobe for a perfect stay!

This place is the most amazing weekend get away spot in the greater Bay area. We stayed here in April for a half marathon and it was perfect for the R&R I needed before the race. We rented movies, walked to downtown, read books and magazines. Pure relaxation. Loved it. Forgot to tell them the shower was cold, but oh well, who cares! This place is great and I can't wait for a reason to go back.

Okay, after reading these reviews i though it would be a lot better then it was.  At first i thought, wow this room is tiny and it felt very clastraphobic, i felt like i had to be very quiet because the other rooms were so close.  After the next day i started liking it a litttle bit more.  What I LOVED was the breakfast, it was simple and delicious and there was a window where birds flew around, fun to watch.  It was close to town which was great.  So overall i thought it was nice, but not fantastic.

This review is long overdue (just joined yelp today).  A few months ago I stayed here for a nice, relaxing getaway.  The owners really attend to the details, and puts lots of care into making your stay great.  But the main thing I wanted to write about was that I had left a Mac powercord behind in the room, and when I called them to see if they had seen it, they found it and mailed it back to me pronto.  They had even taken care of all the postage and everything (the envelope was covered with stamps - it was a big powercord).  Now that's service above and beyond.

Adobe on the Green is a great place for someone looking to make a weekend getaway.  My friend and I were looking for a cute and quaint place to stay in SC and did not want to pay too much.  Upon our arrival, we were thankful for having chosen this place...the gardens were so pretty and homey...there were apple trees, flowers, and herbs surrounding the grounds.  Our room was cozy as well with a huge tub and a patio.  It did feel like we were the only ones there as we only saw a few other people one or twice for a very brief time.  There is a computer for you to use, great lounging space both in and outside the inn, and a yummy breakfast  and free drinks (and you are not forced to eat with strangers like other B&Bs).  While sitting on the patios, I could hear traffic on the main street but I soon forgot about it as I was reading my book.  This place is only a 5-10 minute walk to downtown SC.  I plan on coming here again!
