Los Angeles, CA
On the right night, when its warm with a light breeze, there is no beating sitting outside at this place. The stringed lights and spanish style of the la quinta hotel compliment this mexican restaurant very well. Its not low-end, greasy mexican food by any means. The carnitas tacos were fantastic as well as the carne asada nachos. I over ate. The margaritas are good but not great by any means. I've never had a bad dinner here.

Beware! All that glistens isn't gold!
The grounds are beautiful, service so-so, food horrid.
How can a Mexican Restaurant screw up a plain Cheese Enchilada?. With a limited menu and standard fare; these people should find a new line of work.
Warm beer; yes they ran out of beer glasses. Below average Margaritas, stale chips and the Salsa is all wrong.
Do yourself a favor and find someplace else to dine. Not worth the aggro or the money. Oh by the way. If you sit outside on their patio and ask for a handful of their stale chips be prepared to pay $7.00. Yes really! -

Lovely terrace and great guacamole, but very slow service, along with a bit of attitude from one server.

The night started off so well.... Delicious guacamole prepared table side and tasty margaritas.
We put in our orders for the Sea bass Veracruz (for myself) and the hubby ordered the tamale combo. We were in no rush for dinner and were pretty content just to sit at the bar chatting with our margaritas and patiently wait.
20 minutes turned into 30 and then 45 minutes became almost an hour. Holy crow! Where's the food?
Finally our waiter comes over and tells us that they ran out of food. WTF? Shouldn't you have known that 45 minutes ago? No real offer to bring us anything else... except the bill (guac and drinks).
It was now getting pretty late. Things were starting to close down around the resort. And after swimming and playing all day, I was hungry and more than a little pissed off.
Totally out of character for me, I demanded to speak with the manager. I refused to pay the bill. He obliged but I didn't feel any kind of remorse on their part. I'm still annoyed and Waldorf Astoria (they own La Quinta) will definitely be hearing about this. -

With a hundred Mexican restaurants in Coachella Valley, not to mention the Inland Empire you probably drove through to get here, you have chosen to eat at an upscale Mexican Restaurant at the La Quinta resort. You need to own that. Of course it's overpriced (it's a hotel restaurant!!!) and it's not like your abuela made it.
So, with the realistic understanding that we chose to eat Mexican food at the La Quinta resort, I found it to be pretty good and pretty expensive. This is one of those places that I am happy to go if someone else really wants to go, and that same someone else is paying the tab. The food is not bad... but if I had $24 for the uber-salty chicken mole oaxaca I ordered, I'd be pissed. Reviewer notes, however, that she ordered chicken mole oaxaca at a hotel, and understands she bears at least half the responsbility for that disappointment.
Margaritas, tacos, chips, salsa, and guacamole were all great. There is an extensive and imaginative drink menu, as well as high quality tequilas for ok prices. There is a lovely patio on which you can have drinks and chips, and enjoy a pleasant evening. Service was excellent!
Keep it simple. Order tacos, fajitas... that sort of thing. the food will be good. And if you in the business of looking for a good value, avoid this place... and every other hotel restaurant anywhere in the country. -

Real Margaritas, made from scratch.
Good live music.
but....
Overpriced mexican food and not so good.
Deserts are the WORST thing I've try in a long time. -

They have many premium tequilas and their margaritas are made from scratch, but from what I can tell tequila is the honored guest that no showed. Stingy!!! Having said that this a resort where you have to request a robe in your room.
5* view, dog friendly patio, staff, convenience, tequila selection
4* tortilla soup, nachos, chips and salsa, guacamole, grilled corn
3* chicken mole
1* queso fundido -

For a hotel restaurant we had a good experience. The service was great and the food was pretty - prettttttty good. Look they gave me handmade FRESH flour tortillas, that was worth an extra star right there ...
I think this place has changed names/ management since the last time I was there for drinks? Either way - I am still cool w/ the vibe. -

Manhattan Beach, CA
Adobe. The bad impression started when the hostess asked if we had a reservation. The place was practically empty. When I responded no, she rolled her eyes and brought us to a table in the back, between a family with a baby and the restroom. I wasn't going to entertain sitting there. Thankfully a manager noticed that I was about to leave and rushed over to offer us another table. It was unnecessary to start a meal like that and by the time we were done eating, the restaurant was still just over half way occupied. The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Don't bother with the fried ice cream. It was a small scoop of vanilla rolled in Rice Krispies. This desert sums up my feelings on all of the food. It is pretending to be great but it isn't.

West Los Angeles, CA
Overpriced bland food, with poor service. I love La Quinta, and the location is cute, with nice views of the resort and usually a band. However, the margaritas were questionable and the waiter leered at me and was very rude. When I asked for health-conscious shrimp meals, he scoffed and suggested I order the largest plate on the menu. Overall, the place needs work. They need to focus on training their staff and work on the quality of the food and drinks. When dinner for 2 is $150, it should not be awful with uncomfortable service.

What's nice about this place is that it's a reasonable resort dining opportunity in a very high dollar resort. I am not sure walk the street patrons would come on property to check this place out, but live entertainment and wonderful outdoor dining are a good reason to give it a try,
The setting and service are a delight. The food not so much. The chips and salsa are wonderful and the "Perfect Margarita" is just as billed. Juice of 2 limes, Patron Silver, Cointreau, Splash of OJ. It's simple, it's tart and it's PERFECT. This margarita version lacks a good 400 calories of your Chili's margarita and taste of citrus and tequila is ever present. I had one each day there.
Skip the menu, go at 4 PM ish and have the chips, salsa, setting, entertainment and the PERFECT MARGARITA. -

Cute atmosphere in a very beautiful 1920's Spanish style hotel. Granted, the restaurant is not cheap but the food was very good!
My guy & I started off with the house margarita. We made the mistake of each ordering a large which came in an enormous glass!! It wasn't to our liking initially but we went up to the bar and the bartender was great enough to remake it.
The chips came with 3 different salsas which were all delicious! I tried not to fill up on that and ordered the house salad with salmon. The salmon pieces were large and really fresh! My guy ordered the Chicken mole dish. It may have been the 2nd best mole I've ever had in my life! A perfect blend of chocolate and spice.
The only disappointment was the flan for dessert! It was their version of a flan with a drier chocolate cake and an odd custard on the top. Interesting, but we decided not worth the calories... -

My husband and I are regulars at La Quinta and used to eat at the Adobe Grill every time we visited. Over the past 2 or 3 years, however, the service at the Adobe has gone steadily downhill; the last time we ate there the drinks and service were so bad that we vowed to never eat there again (much to our chagrin, as we used to enjoy it so much). The margaritas are consistently watery in the extreme & when we commented on this and asked for another drink we received a surly response from the already not-so-nice waitress. Our replacement drink was equally bad and we left, resigned to never come back.
In contrast, we get great service at 26 (another La Quinta restaurant). -

To be honest, I can't comment on the food here as I've only had drinks. So I can't give them 5 stars. And the drinks are outstanding. Nothing like the perfect margarita, no matter how you like it, on a hot day in the desert.
The staff though, shines beyond comparison. After an evening of drinking which already involved emptying the mini bar before midnight, the staff here allowed us to make some purchases after they closed. They were cleaning up, but the concierge spoke with the manager who said they would hook us up. It took as awhile to actually walk down there, being that it's not like we were walking in a straight line, but these people are friggin awesome for taking care of us. -

Sooooooooo overpriced for a less than average Mexican meal!!!
Service was OK, food was bland, at best, but I guess being a hotel restaurant they can get away with it.
Next time I drive 5 minutes into town and get authentic food at authentic

Review from Linda T.
I had dinner here. I liked the chips & salsa they have on the table. The mango margarita was great! I had the chicken mole, which came with 2 different mole sauces & grilled vegetables, & was very good. I really liked the sauces. They didn't offer me a dessert menu, but then maybe I had to ask for it if I wanted it!
Kind of dim interior...I was by myself & hoping to read, but it was too dark for that! They also had dining on the patio outside, where live music was playing (I think the group is called Inka Kings, with South American style music with guitar, panflute, etc.) I think the same performers then moved inside, because while I was dining, they started playing live music inside. I believe the same group plays Wednesday-Saturday night.
If you're staying at the resort, you can charge it to your room.
They're located in La Quinta Resort & Club, on the 2nd floor of a building across the way from the lobby. The walk up is through a garden/patio with fountains, strategically placed seating areas, brightly colored flowers--gorgeous!Listed in: Palm Springs area

Call it THREE*AND*A*HALF*STARS...
The Adobe Grill, located atop a commercial center in the middle of the wonderful La Quinta Resort, is one of about a half-dozen of restaurants available on campus. That means it's expensive. And in this case, while not necessarily worth the high bill, it's a lovely spot if you sit outside. Misters kick the back of your neck with welcomed moisture as the desert air compliments the spicy south-of-the-border food before you. The food's pretty good, too. Had I not stayed at La Quinta, I probably wouldn't've went here but at the same token I'm glad I did.

They have recently changed the menu, and although a lot of the good old dishes remain - halibut, lamb and taco's there are a lot of outstanding new choices.
I think the food is outstanding, service great and atmosphere at the top of the plaze, with live music makes it a very enjoyable evening. I would definitely recommend the lamb, shrimp fajitas and the tableside guacamole is awesome. -

While I used to love the food at the Adobe Grill, it has really gone downhill in the past few years. I have been going to La Quinta Resort for 20+ years and have seen the Adobe Grill go through many stages...the current one is not very good. The guacamole that is made table side, is still good (but, really, how hard is it to make good guacamole?), as are the house-made tortillas, although while these used to be served with your meal, now you have to practically beg for them and if you don't ask, you wouldn't even know they existed. Such a shame. That used to be a very special thing about the Adobe Grill. The atmosphere is still lovely and I do love the live music they have playing in the plaza area on Saturday nights. The food is just okay...pretty bland and without much flavor. Definitely not worth the price as far as taste goes, but just have one of their enormous margaritas, and you probably won't care.

I'm giving big stars for the great outdoor patio...we just had drinks there so not sure how the food is. BUT don't ask if I want chips and salsa and then charge me $7 bux for them...they are FREE at Mexican restaurants. I wasn't expecting them to be on the bill...glad I didn't say yes when they asked if I wanted more....it was a very small portion as well.

This a magical place. If ever out in La Quinta you must stop here for out of this world food and drinks. The environment is in the La Quinta Resort and Spa surrounded by the Coachella Mountain Valley Range. Outdoor dining - under the stars - by the water fountain - next to the band - it is a true romantic get a way. The food is exceptional and the staff is most pleasant.

Meh. La Quinta Resort's on-site quasi-Mexican restaurant is about what you'd expect for upscale hotel food. My taco was....about what you'd expect from a taco. My chicken enchilada was decent (they didn't overcook the chicken, and used some dark meat, not just breast, so it had some flavor). If you're at the hotel, need a quick lunch, and want Mexican, Adobe is probably the way to go. Which is to say, it's your only choice. And it only abuses that fact a little.

I was hesitant to try Adobe Grill after reading the reviews on Yelp. But we were staying there and were told it was the most kid friendly of all the restaurants. We sat on the patio with a beautiful view. Soon music started playing below us. The table side made guacamole was delicious! Our waitress was so sweet and took so much time with us and our kids. She even made a point to come and compliment us on how well behaved our children are. The prices were high (but aren't all hotel/resort restaurants!) so we opted for the flautas and tacos. Delicious! We were already full from the guacamole anyways. The prices were high... but that's expected. But I disagree with some of the comments about poor service. Our waitress was so great and it was a great family memory.

We went to Adobe Grill while staying at La Quinta on a recommendation. It is very nice not having to drive. When you go into the restaurant it is a little loud and they definitely push for quick turn around. The food is okay. I didn't really like mine, but my boyfriend liked his food. The drinks inside the restaurant were a bit weak and the service was spotty.
We ended up going to the outdoor patio that night and getting drinks. I would highly recommend getting drinks and appetizers on the patio. The drinks were stronger there and there was live music. The staff outside were also way more helpful. -

Love their mellow music and delicious food, chips, salsa, margarita and their breakfast buffet is pretty killer as well. Nice spot to cool down in the evening, unless of course you are there in the summer then there's absolutely no escaping that heat!

I've been to Adobe a few times now with a girlfriend of mine. We always love going there. The Mexican/talavera design is very cool, the chips are delicious, service is great, and the menu is always yummy. This restaurant, much like the hotel, is an institution!

I was hammered. It was fun. Food was grrrrrrrreat from what I remember. Cesar guac is made at the table -- soooooo good. This was probably one of the more interesting nights of my life. Fact. I want to give it four -- but I should give it 5.

We ate their twice for dinner and had different food each time. I would highly recommend this place. The tortilla soup is fantastic, a spicy caesar salad was unexpected but really tasty. We had had the chicken mole dish. I had never had tomatillo mole and we even asked for the recipe. The chef came out and told us how to make it. We also had the prawns which were fresh and delicious. The service is top notch and we actually requested the same waitress Eva who was wonderful. She spent time answering all our questions and remembered us when we came back. We are definately planning on going back during the holidays! The drinks are awesome and try to fresh guac they make at your table!

My husband and I were disappointed at our dinner at Adobe Grill, we visited the restaurant few years ago and it was a knock out, the food was great as well as service and margaritas. This time around, the food was very medium, margaritas were very weak, watery and the waitress was just not on top of things. There are other dining places on the property, I would skip the Abobe.

Review from Ryan W.
Seattle, WA
The service was awful. We had at least three different waiters/waitresses, each of whom seemed to be working hard, but you would order from one, the item would not arrive, and then have to re-order from the next one. So many things we ordered did not come without us having to ask twice. The staff loudly rearranged tables, called to one another, etc., very close to our table, to the point that it disturbed conversation.
The food was just bad - not worth further elaboration.
The price was obscene for what you received. I have no problem paying $30 for an entree, but I have a lot of trouble paying that amount for an entree that tastes like a "Mexican" offering from a happy-hour menu at Applebees. That may not even be fair to Applebees.
This is my first review on Yelp, and it is solely for the purpose of getting others to stay away - don't have your evening ruined by this restaurant. -

After giving a negative review a while back, we went again and it was quite good. Chips and salsa are excellent. Margaritas were super. The Caesar Guac made at the table was amazing. Very good service. WAY OVERPRICED. But you're paying for the atmosphere. Not where I'd go often, but good for a special occasion.

Really good Mexican food at steak house prices! We had the Ceaser Guacamole & Chicken Tortilla to start and they were both really good. The Guac had pumpkin seeds & fresh Mexican cheese and it was yummy. Limited veg menu and I wasn't thrilled with the cheese tamales but my hubby's steak fajitas were very good quality. Margaritas were good too...
