We had an awesome time rafting with ARO!
Got a sweet deal on the 4th of July weekend that included a light lunch snack and a BBQ with chicken and beers back at the shop. They have anorak jackets you can rent for free in case you think you might get cold, life jackets and helmets.

We had a pretty hot and fun rafting guide. :) and we rafted class 3 rapids. It was exciting and fun. We were also able to jump out and swim in certain areas and jump off a little rock in the middle of the river.

The lunch snack provided was a little weird but kinda cool (peanut butter, cereal, and honey burrito and some lemonade) but the BBQ buffet and beers back at the shop after was awesome.

definitely recommend ARO for anyone looking to white water raft in the adirondacks

Great people, great service, great food and grrrrreaat fun! :)

My wife, 2 kids (16 and 7 years old), and I just went on a full day trip down the Hudson and it was a blast.  Our guide was great (Dean - a.k.a. Dingo - he was from Australia) and provided a lot of cool information about the area we were rafting down.  He was also pretty funny and entertaining, and seemed like an overall nice guy.

I would recommend this trip and this company for white water rafting.  The day starts early (you have to be there by 9 am to suit up) and you get back around 3:30 pm.  Afterwards, they have a great BBQ and throw in some beer.  I thought the day was a great value and the kids, my wife, and I had a blast.

Please note however - you do need to be careful and accidents, can and do happen.  While we were entering the water, a lady actually slipped while placing the raft in the water and was taken back to the main office.  I was later told at the end of the day that she broke her hand.  If you choose to do this outing, be careful.  The rocks are slippery and everything is wet.  Wear some Teva's or find some good water shoes.

We had a really good time rafting with ARO on the Hudson in July. Their guides have decades of experience, and know the river like the back of their hand. Other companies have guides that look like teenagers. Our guide was Kevin, who I highly recommend. I have to admit, when we first arrived we had the impression that it was a little bit disorganized, but by the end of the day we realized that wasn't the case.
