Steven came out twice to my place in La Jolla. Once for an emergency water leak and another time for a blocked sewage line the was causing my washing machine to put water on the floor.
He came out right away and is very friendly and honest. I highly recommend him. Problems solved and easy to work with.
Ignore any negative postings....there is another Adept in SD that has nothing to do with Steven. -

Searched Yelp for emergency/24 hour plumbers and Adept was the top. They refused to come until morning. So much for handling emergency water issues. Our hot water heater leaked and then burst and at the time of my call we couldn't shut off the water. It took us an hour to shut it off while in the meantime our furniture and boxes of household items in the garage (from our move the day before) got drenched.Thanks for nothing Adept. I'd say it's more like inept plumbing but I haven't actually used their service. I only had a failed attempt at service. If you're having a water emergency, skip this place lest they blow you off too.
NOTE: Since Steven replied to my post I thought I'd update: I don't know WHO answered the phone claiming to be Adept at around Midnight of Thanksgiving night but whoever it was refused service with the words, "If your water heater has already burst there is nothing I can do until morning." So, since Steven claims to answer his phones with pride, I'll suggest he's not telling the full story because I WAS DENIED EMERGENCY SERVICE.Comment from steven w. of Adept Plumbing 11/29/2011

I've used Adept on a couple of projects- one remodel last year and a different remodel last week. Steven and his crew were great. Very thoughtful, methodical, and detail oriented. Also, they use quality fixtures. I had a very "out of the ordinary" bathtub (a deep soaking tub) and the installation was unusual. Steven found a solution, and the workmanship was first rate. Steven is awesome.
Once again Capt jackass thought he could fix the clogged sink! What a mess and I never knew how much that sludge stank. Steven came at my wife's request within 20 minutes. He fixed up my sink and did our tub and two toilets while he was here. This is the second and certainly not the last time we will use them. Steven is the owner and takes pride in his workmanship. He isn't out to rip people off on things they don't need. I highly recommend you use him for your next plumbing need. -

If you are working with fixtures from Home Depot or Moen, then Steven will probably work for you. He is nice enough and tries hard, but was not able to resolve fitting replacement parts without offering extreme measures (cutting holes in wall, tearing out tile and ordering all new fixtures). He ran late and took several phone calls from employees in the midst of trying to repair (which never happened) our fixtures.

Tried to charge $225 to snake my sink. The guys's name was Tim and he was definitely over charging. I didn't even bother to have him come out because I found a great plumber that came out to do it for $70. I highly recommend to look around.

We called Adept as a first time customer this morning at 8:50am in hopes that someone could come out to take a look at our leaking kitchen sink. The man I spoke to was very friendly and said he could have someone out to our home within the hour. Shortly thereafter, the owner, Steve, arrived to our house.
We were impressed that rather than suggesting a "band aid" repair, Steve suggested a new, permanent fix for a problem that we have experienced several times in the past. Steve was fast, efficient and ended up completing the job within an hour. His pricing was very fair and the best part is that he confidently stands behind his work by offering a 1-year warranty on any future leaks related to this isolated fix!
Living in a high rise, we often encounter plumbers who are not confident doing work on our place and won't apply a warranty so it was refreshing to have a professional plumber such as Adept come out and take care of us quickly. -

Based on my usage of Adept I think they are overpriced. If you are price-sensitive then I would not advise using them. Also the service was not satisfactory in that the plumbing issue was not fully resolved. The issue was a slow drain and it still drains slowly $350 later.

I chose Adept Plumbing based on their review on here and they did not disappoint. They came out ASAP and got the job done. I can't remember the name of the guy who completed the job, but he was very nice and professional. I would definitely recommend them.

New Year's Day...Riding my bike down at the beach, and I decide to come home for a sweatshirt and a quick bite to eat. Walk into the bathroom to find it FILLED to the rim with dirty water! ARGH!
After playing phone tag with my landlord, who happened to be in Hawaii, I finally just took it upon myself to call my own plumber. Had to find someone who would come after hours AND on a holiday! Steve, the owner of Adept Plumbing, answered the phone himself and was at my place within the hour. He worked tirelessly to fix the clog...started in the tub, but found the clog was actually in the kitchen. Soon, all the water was gone! Yea! I would highly recommend him! -

Ok they came out and fixed the drain the next day argued with my husband a little on whether they were going to charge us to fix their mistake or not and in the end they didnt. They are very quick to respond I can say that and mistakes happen. They handled this very well personally.

Very pleased. They were fast, came over right away and took care of my toilet's constant running issue. Was a tad put off by the price ($250 to rebuild the inside of two toilets, another $225 I thought, to snake a drain that was having trouble draining), so I opted for the toilets only. I live downtown in a high-rise so maybe I was given the "lives in a nice place, must be able to afford it" price, not sure. Anyway, good service and I'd call them again, just not for snaking a drain.

I called Adept at 6 p.m. for a plugged up toilet. I was told that I would have to wait until the next day, but when I explained my work situation, the manager told me he would send someone and within an hour, Tim arrived. He was courteous and efficient and the work was done for the price quoted. Thanks!

I had these guys out at my house between 6-8 weeks ago but I'm just now getting around to writing this review, seeing that I'm still waiting for my callback and estimate. I had a clogged kitchen drain so I called these guys to come snake it and to see about getting about 15 feet of plumbing redone. Steven was very polite over the phone and set me up with an appointment. Tim showed up on time and took his time to talk with me about exactly what the problem is, which parts of my plumbing were not up to code, and what we could potentially do about the portion I needed re-plumbed. I agreed to have a camera guy come out to verify there were not any problems with the pipes that we couldn't see and to get a general layout or blueprint for the digging. I was told the camera guy would contact me directly. I paid $175 for them to snake my drain, which worked temporarily but was clogged up again the same night. Luckily we just waited it out and it eventually cleared up. I've paid half that amount for Roto-Rooter to come snake my drain and they don't charge me when it doesn't work. Whatever, I let it go. I did wait an entire week to hear from the camera guy, however, before I called back and spoke to Steven again. I explained my situation and he said he could have some guys out to my house immediately to get started on the plumbing work. I told him I never agreed to the work and I was still waiting on an estimate and the camera guy. He seemed confused and told me he would talk to Tim to find out exactly what needs to be done an he said, and I quote, "I promise I'll call you back this time." That was 6-8 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything back. If you value your money stay away from these guys. They just charged me out the nose for a simple snaking and ran with the money. I doubt they were ever interested in doing plumbing at all. I will never recommend or use these guys. Worst experience with a plumber I've ever had.

Steven of Adept Plumbing delivered, promptly, courteously, and efficiently, all at a reasonable price. My elderly parents live in Mira Mesa, a suburb of San Diego. They woke up on Monday morning April 19, 2010 to discover that their water main had burst. My mother phoned me (I live in the San Francisco Bay Area), stressed out, worried, and concerned about what to do as the water supply was shut off by the utility company.
I read the reviews on Adept Plumbing and was suitably impressed. I spoke to Steven and arranged for an appointment, spoke to my mother (several times as she's not sure what to do), spoke to my nephew (who is clueless as far as plumbing matters are concerned) and that same day, my mother rang me back to announce that it had been fixed and that Steven was a very nice man. So far so very good I think, but wait, I get a phone call from San Diego from Steven who proceeds to tell me what had occurred and what he had done to fix the problem. I never expected such stellar service, it humbled me to think that even I could do much better at providing great service and here I had been priding myself with the thought that as far as providing great service, I am up there with the best! i am not a morning person, so i love to sleep in on weekends. this past sunday, i woke up and stumbled down the hallway to give the dog some food so that i could go back to bed.....but when i stepped into my kitchen, my foot went into a small lake of water. ugh. hoping that the dog had just knocked over her water bowl, i turned on the light. no such luck! the floor was covered, there was water on the counters, and the main source appeared to be the light fixture overhead. water + electricity = bad news so i quickly turned the light back off. since i don't have upstairs neighbors, i knew it had to be a problem with a common area pipe, and i knew i needed help right away.
i called adept plumbing and explained my situation. steven said he would send someone right out. the guy arrived in not much more than an hour, which was good since the leak kept getting worse. i have a crawl space but he only had a very short ladder. we improvised with a bar stool from my house and then he did some serious gymnastics to get up into the crawl space (i was impressed). he confirmed there was a hole in the hot water pipe and came back down to get tools. he was very thorough - explained what he needed to do, turned off hot water to the complex, performed acrobatics to get back up in the crawl space, and then went about replacing the bad section of the pipe. when he was done, he turned the hot water back on and tested everything to make sure it was fixed (it was). he had the whole repair done relatively quickly, with a total cost of $350. i wasn't delighted to have to shell that out, but i honestly expected it to be even worse for an emergency plumbing situation on a sunday! -

I had the neck of my shower head break off in the wall and I called Steven to see if he or one of his employees could come over and check it out, and he sent over Tim, who did an amazing job! Tim was very respectful and not only kept me updated on what was going on, but made me part of the decision making process which I greatly appreciated. I have called Adept plumbing before and I love doing business with them because they are always very honest and really work to make the customer happy. As long as I live in SD I will not call any other plumber but Adept.
