My boyfriend and I used Adept for our big move and we are completely satisfied and happy with them. Anthony, their manager was sure to let me know we would be happy, and indeed I was. There were no hidden fees, no hiccups in our move at all. The guys were super efficient and got everything done without denting or damaging anything like some movers. It was affordable, especially with the yelp deal. I've moved many times, and this past move with Adept has definitely been the best by far. Make sure you reserve ahead of time, as they get very busy quick!!!

movers showed up & i told them that i was going to the 2nd location, they called me back an hour later saying that they had finished packing the truck, asked me where i was.i said , again ,that i was at the 2nd location. they call me back 20 minutes later still waiting at the 1st location for me(asking when would i be back). finally, they drive to the 2nd location where the manager yells at me over the phone.very rude. i asked him why his movers were so clueless.
i hear one of the guys say "oh sh*t" & a bang.i think nothing of it, i am in the living room & assumed the movers would come to me if something was wrong.they finish the job & one of the guys gives me a sheepish look & hands me back $20.i think nothing of it until later that day when i notice that something had been broken. the item was worth hundreds of dollars(by looking at it, you could tell that it was not a $20 repair).i call the company & they give me the run around.i never get the $ from them to repair the damage.Comment from Tony M. of Adept Moving & Storage 5/10/2012

I appreciate that Tony M. was trying to reach out to me, but sometimes you just don't want to deal with something you already placed behind you. Just because I did not disclose to him detailed information on a private message does not mean that my review is false. Honestly, look how many filtered reviews this company has. If this company has over 150 FILTERED reviews and only 9 that aren't, that to me already speaks volumes.
It's interesting how all of a sudden there is a review that has all the detailed information he was asking me on a more recent review. Doesn't that look fishy. What's even more suspicious is the date the account was made, the date of service, and how there is only one yelp review for the account. I like how the manager tries to make people believe that my review is false in the reply for that one particular review.
But I do have to agree with him. ANYONE including a company's management can post whatever they want on the internet.1 Previous Review: Show all »

These guys were awesome. No hidden fees. The 2 movers arrived closer to 8 than 9am (with a 8-9am window) and had all my stuff moved into my new 1 BR within 3 hours. Would highly recommend them for any residential moves based on my experience. All my belongings were in tact and were appropriately sealed and wrapped before transport

Appalling, Dreadful, Obnoxious, Offensive, HORRIBLE...
This is the way I would begin to write my experience with this moving company.
To start off, after scheduling an appointment with them and agreeing on an estimate of what it would cost. My wife and I also verified their forms of payment accepted on the day of the move. All seemed to be great.
The team of 3 guys in one truck showed up promptly and had us sign the work order to start, and confirming the 'estimated' cost of $1100.00.
Work started about 8:30, and these guys were busting their ass, although difficult to understand them through their thick Russian accent, they started they day wonderfully.
I needed to head into the office for some meetings while my wife and kids stayed overseeing the work being done. At around 4:00 pm, they were done packing up our townhome and told my wife they would be taking their lunch prior to making the long 1.5 mile drive to our new home. At this time they stated that they will need to be paid $1600, or they will not be unloading our belongings and will be forced to drive their truck to storage yard and charge us additional fees.
My wife questioned the additional $500 they were asking for, as well as questioned them about charging us prior to the job being completed. The lead person there stated that it is their policy to be paid prior to unloading.
This was never mentioned in any conversations prior to this point. My wife was freaking out as she had $1200 cash on her and said I will give you this, and can you just charge the additional on my Credit Card? This is the point everything went to hell! The worker called into the "owner" Anthony and told him the situation, in which Anthony took it upon himself to call my wife and berate her in the fact she did not have the money, even though it was more than quoted, he berated the fact that he shouldn't have to deal with a woman, and he was extremely belligerent, chauvinistic, rude, and foul-mouthed.
I called him, and he never let me get a word in edge wise, making racist comments because my last name was mexican. However, once I identified myself as being in law enforcement, as well as made a call to my local police and had them dispatch a unit to our home, it was two-hours before they agreed to take the $1200 cash and get started unloading our items.
Had I not identified myself as law enforcement, sent in the local police, and stand up for myself, this Anthony character would have held the contents of my home hostage.
At the end of the day, it took these guys 16 hours to move me from a 1400 sq ft townhome, into a 2100 sq ft home 1.5 miles away, an ordeal where I felt my items were being held hostage and was almost strong armed to pay 50% more than quoted.
I will never recommend these ignorant, thuggish, a-holes to anyone at all!!! -

This company doesn't even deserve one star! They were terrible in every way possible! Every small thing was a big deal for these idiots., Especially the owner Anthony... Wow that man was the worst! After the whole move was done and he got his pay, he called us and cussed us out in every way possible. He was rude and had anger problem that he seriously should get checked. I would not recommend anyone to move with this company!
They moved a two bedroom apartment and it took them the whole day, from morning to night to move. I could have done it faster alone! I've moved in the past but this was by the far the worst experience ever! I wouldn't go back here if someone paid me
DO NOT GO WITH ADEPT MOVER, TRUST ME

These guys do a great job. I've used them 5 or more times and all of those times I was very satisfied with their service. They did a great job, they do not waste time, they work very hard and are very personable, friendly, trustworthy guys. They price is very affordable as well.
Also, no one asked me to write this review and certainly no one paid me to write this review. I had a good experience with this company everytime I used them to move and I want people to know that.Comment from Gennadiy K. of Adept Moving & Storage 3/15/2012

I am Real Estate Broker since 1989. I think I know about moving as I have moved thousands of clients in my career.
If you only want to pay for the actual move you will need to box everything in small to medium boxes only, wrap and prep every piece of furniture. They will not lift boxes that are over their insurance limits.
I recently moved my client's large 2 bedroom condo (with only 1 bedroom worth of stuff) because he lives in London and wanted his stuff in storage. I budgeted for $1000 from my past experiences with the larger movers.
So I was all ready for a fight and being a slave master. To my surprise two skinny guys showed up and I exclaimed " only two of you? have you eaten?"
Well to my absolute amazement they went right to work (Serge & Bek) and did not say a word all day unless I asked a question and finished the move in 6 hours. This included boxing, furniture prep and move handicapped by an elevator.
The cost $456, what else do I have to say? Last time I moved my client in it was $1300 with an extra bedroom set in the same condo.
Speak to Anthony, he bent over backwards to squeeze me in on the same day. Every body else wanted an extra surge charge.
Jim
P.S. Yes they were a bit late but hell we live in L.A. I was just glad they showed up, the clock did not start until they got up to the condo.Comment from Gennadiy K. of Adept Moving & Storage 3/15/2012

I have used Adept Movers 2x already several years in between each move, and both times the 2 gentlemen that arrived to my apartment were, timely, efficient, professional and most of all polite. They did not not try to make more $$ then necessary by wasting time, they were done w/ my 1 bedroom apartment in less then 3 hours, that also including taking down the bed and the dining room table...I will definitely be using them again and recommending them. I am sorry others have had bad experiences, but both times I had nothing but good things to say about this company!

Even though my husband is a DIY kinda guy, after our last hellish move I made him promise we'd get movers next time. So here we are moving into our new home and we find Adept via a friend who used them before.
I am completely shocked by the poor reviews these guys have gotten. Anthony on the phone was very courteous and informative. He told us exactly what to expect and his quote actually turned out to be slightly higher than the final bill. He confirmed with me by email as soon as I booked them, and called us the day before to make sure we were still on for the move. Our movers, Ilia and Leon (sorry if I spelled them wrong) showed up bright and early at 8:40AM, just as we'd asked and immediately set to work.
After a brief walk through the apartment, Leon went over what the move would cost us, charging $28 for gas and no more than $30 for all packing material, plus $59/hr just as advertised.
Let me just say these two guys were astonishing in their efforts of moving stuff. Every box was treated like it was full of fine china, and neither mover complained of the 2 flights of winding stairs they had to navigate.
Craziest of all, these guys didn't stop ONCE. Not for a cigarette, not for lunch, not even for the bathroom. Within 2 hours they had our place empty and were en route to the new home.
They emptied the truck within another 90 minutes, and didn't blink when I asked them to remove their shoes (we'd just cleaned the carpets).
All in all, Adept Moving was professional, courteous, and efficient. Our movers were tireless, and their price was the best we could find.
Again, I'm totally shocked by the poor reviews these guys have. They were everything we would expect from a moving company and came in under budget. Who could ask for more?Comment from Tony M. of Adept Moving & Storage 3/14/2012

I have used Adept Movers twice now for my moves and they have great service. They arrive on time and hustle! Any break they do on their own time and There was no hidden fees like other people have. I bought my own roll of cellophane at Home Depot on my last move and they happily used it vice charging me to use theirs. Highly recommend them for the cost and quality. I moved from Palos Verdes to Manhattan Beach and Manhattan Beach to Los Angeles for reference.

I hired Adept for an in-town move in Pasadena last week and was very impressed. The two men showed up on time and were professional, personable, and fast. They had all of the furniture, boxes, and bags out of my studio within an hour. They even covered the furniture in padded blankets and shrink wrap it to make sure that it wouldn't get scratched during the move. There was a small charge for all of the shrink wrap, but it was certainly reasonable for the protection it provides. They also let me use their wardrobe boxes (so you can just leave your shirts on the hangers) for free.
Adept was fantastic and the value can't be beat. A+++ move, guys!!Comment from Tony M. of Adept Moving & Storage 3/14/2012

I am honestly surprised by the 1 star reviews for Adept Moving. This has not been my experience at all!
I've hired them twice in the last 18 months- once to unload a large moving truck and once to move half of a house worth of stuff.
Both times they were on time, professional, efficient, careful and polite. I never had a problem with customer service on the phone or the movers in person.
I've hired movers many times in the past and these guys were the cheapest and the best. I'd recommend them to any of my friends.
I'm sorry that other yelpers have had bad experiences, I'm really shocked!Comment from Gennadiy K. of Adept Moving & Storage 3/15/2012

Review from Veronica Y.

Adept were the cheapest that I could find after a relatively extensive internet search, and were also fantastic, despite some of the reviews here. Anthony (who answers the phone and organises everything) was extremely helpful, and spelled out everything that the price included - he sent an email so that I could have proof in case anything happened (which didn't). They have no charge for stairs, but do have a cost for some packing materials. For our three bedroom move, this only amounted to $20.
He even accommodated, at no extra charge, the fact that the movers had to go to three different apartments in two different locations (each of our old apartments as well as the new apartment were within the same zipcode.
Our two movers, Wesley and Max, arrived on time, were very efficient, and worked non-stop. With a three bedroom apartment, Anthony suggested that we hire three movers, but as students, we're low on cash, so we simply had the three of us students also helping with the move. Wesley and Max did most of the heavy-lifting though, and we simply moved smaller items, e.g. chairs, smaller boxes. In total, it took under 4 hours. (There is a 3-hour minimum, and time thereafter is pro-rated).
After everything from the truck was moved in, Wesley and Max did us a HUUUGE favor. We had a 9.5 foot couch that we were, by ourselves, unable to get into the house due to the turns in the house. Wesley actually dead-lifted the couch over his head while Max and two of us pulled it over the railing and into the house. We never thought we would be able to get the couch in the house, and Wesley and Max really went out of their way to find a solution to help us get it in!
Even as broke students, hiring Adept moving was well-worth it!Comment from Gennadiy K. of Adept Moving & Storage 7/14/2010

These guys are lucky they even got one star, if they could get zero I'd put that. I used them at the recommendation of a friend, more so because I needed someone in a hurry and I didn't know of anyone. These guys not only damaged all of my dark wood furniture -every piece was scratched somewhere, and all of the corners of my dresser, bed, book shelves, chairs, table and entertainment console (3 pieces) were chipped off and damaged. My $3000 dollar huge and heavy leather sofa was stored up right on one arm and came back with the arm misshapen from having all of it's weight on it, scratched up and faded only in that area from not being covered properly. To top it off, after tipping them quite nicely, I discovered that they'd stolen 2 candle holders worth over $100. Not so much the expense that bugged me, but the fact that they were a gift that I am unable to replace. Nice. Adept Movers? Eek. Methinks not.
****UPDATE**** I was sent an email that said they would give me $50 if I removed my HONEST review. Appalling. I've used movers a few times and this is still the worst service I've ever had. $50 does not cover the $100 missing candle holders, the scratches and chunks out of ALL of my dark wood furniture, the damage to my $3000 leather couch nor the more than generous tip I left with the movers before unpacking and seeing all of my stuff. I wrote this review to help others know what they're getting into before entrusting their treasured belongings and wasting their money. Negative stars for being shady and also for that obviously fraudulent 5 star review. When your service is good, you'll get good reviews. I've had better experience paying guys off the street.Comment from Gennadiy K. of Adept Moving & Storage 3/15/2012

They showed up on time, but when the head mover told me that he didn't think they'd be able to fit everything on the truck and would have to make second trip, which would cost me hours more in time., I became very upset and threatened a bad online review given my assurances over the phone, tby Anthony, that the truck would be large enough. When the mover called the supervisor, Anthony, he assurred me that they would be able to fit my two bedrooms on the truck plus more, despite what the head mover was telling me, so in desperation, I decided to take a chance. The head mover said he'd try his best. I must note that they were some of the most unfriendly people I've met. Then, a few minutes later, the head mover entered the room I was in, and told me that his supervisor called him again to tell him that I would have to pay them a $950 deposit, just in case I decided I wasn't going to pay them at the end of the move. I told them forget it. It was a Saturday and the first of the month, thus I had to scramble to get someone that Sunday, the 2nd, since everyone's booked the first week of the month. My phone, internet, TV, etc. had already been disconnected.
I should also mention the fact that their truck was very old and noisy and spewing major exhaust. throughout the neighborhood. The truck should also be reported.Comment from Tony M. of Adept Moving & Storage 6/11/2010
