I think we should give this place more bad reviews so it doesn't get too popular.
Adelita's is a diamond in the rough; it blows me away how good and fresh this place is every time for its price. I've gotten and can recommend the taco salad with pulled chicken, the quesadilla, and tacos. -

I'd give the food a 3 but add a half a star for the taqueria itself. I like the decor - gives a very mexican (or what I perceive as mexican) look.
Went here for dinner Sunday night. Husband and I ordered some nachos and super veggie tacos to share. The nachos were ok (I've had better at Rubio's at the mall) but the tacos with the mushrooms were yummy. The salsa offered here was spicy (me like) though it did lack salt.
I feel the pricing is a little off at this place. Everything regular is very inexpensive but if you get super the price almost doubles. Getting a super usually means addition of sour cream and guacamole and paying almost double for these two seems a bit much. -

I came here for the gluten free menu. I left here with a stomach ache and a desire for something else entirely.
The service: The lady that took our order was nice enough. It was loud in there and she sort of mumbled meaning I kind of missed a lot of the conversation. However because I could not hear nor understand what she was saying I left confused and agitated.
The menu: Everywhere around the restaurant it says check the menu for gluten free items. When I looked I couldn't find what was gluten free except that they have rice and corn tortillas. So I asked. The girl at the counter. "are your beans gluten free, she said yes the whole ones. (which the taco's use whole pintos) I asked if the sour cream was gluten free (this one is harder and perhaps I should rephrase that) she said yes. I thought okay good to go.
Food: Got my two taco's and they looked okay so I took a bite. THey were good, but not that great. The carne asada was cooked well and the ingredients were fresh. I ate both. They were good but not that satisfying. At the end I was wishing that I had gone to Super Taqueria and took my chances there.
Aftermath: I'm leaving and I see this sign posted outside that had pictures of what was gluten free. Black beans, rice, and some other things. I just about died. Did the lady say black beans and not whole beans. Are the pinto's not gluten free?
Frustrated because this is my second journey out into the world being gluten free I left because honestly it was too late.
I went home and sure enough got a stomach ache. I think it may be awhile before I try to eat out again. You live and learn but I think I may have to pass on Adelita's. -

Hola! This taqueria is legit! Authentic Mexican food can be found here. Prices are great for the amount of food you get. The nachos are superb as they don't use the traditional processed nacho cheese sauce. Their nachos have fresh guac and sour cream with beans, tomatoes, and onions. Yummmy!! Their burritos and quesadillas are also delicious. Their soft and tasty flour tortillas make it all worthwhile.
You order at the counter but their is generous seating about the establishment plus there is live music on certain nights. It's a nice hang-out spot and yes, they do serve alcohol. Te gusta cerveza? Then go to Adelita's! -

I've been looking high and low for a decent Mexican place in San Jose ever since I moved up here from San Diego. Obviously there's no comparison, even the crappiest San Diego Mexican place is still better than any place up here by default. So sure, I've been spoiled and have ridiculously high standards for Mexican food. That said, this place will serve as a decent substitute.
You know that feeling you get when you walk into a place, and you can tell whether or not it might be bomb? Well, this place just smells authentic Mexican. So I naturally got my hopes up, having been disappointed before.
Had the al pastor burrito. I must say, even my tongue has to admit that this was some damn good al pastor. Hopefully the other meats on the menu can compare to the al pastor, but I can safely say that I got a new Mexican joint to go to. Finally. -

Super Tacos, 1 Carnitas and 1 Carne Asada.
1 quesadilla...Cheese.
Best tacos I have ever had, im not going to waste my time describing this food because the fact that I am unable to eat one right now is pissing me off.
So if your eating an Adelitas Taco right now and reading my post....I hope you choke on it because that is a warriors death! -

Just finished take Mother's Day lunch (take out) from Adelita's. I WANTED to love this place! It is so close to my house and I am looking for a good Mexican restaurant near us. But, it was pretty bad!
My companion and I got a couple of basic items: tacos Al Pastor with beans and rice and a chicken burrito. We also ordered chips and salsa at an extra $1.50. Together it was $19. More like a $$ taco joint.
First of all... I was shocked at how poor the chips were! They tasted like STALE grocery store chips. Probably the worst I have had at any mexican restaurant anywhere. The salsa was equally horrible. It was a big mushy mess! Old or made with over ripe tomatoes. One bright spot was that the Al Pastor was decent (hence two stars not one). The black beans were also a mushy, no definition at all. The Spanish rice was old and dried out.
The burrito was made with grilled chicken which was apparently part of their heathy menu because it had absolutely no flavor (and I am find with most plain food). Even though it was a "super" burrito, it was pretty much lacking everything, but a lot of WET beans and the plain chicken. Also, another execution error, they did not drain the beans before putting them into the burrito and the whole thing was a watery mess! Barely edible.
I am so disappointed in this restaurant and confused... they had a huge staff, the place was busy, the cashiers were friendly, the room was nice, BUT the food was terrible. Will not come back. -

Love it!!! The lettuce grilled shrimp tacos are my favorite! Not to mention the tacos, tortas, low carb plate and you can cover it all with their homemade salsa. The salsa is so awesome! This is not only a must try it is a must frequent!

These guys make great tacos. I usually get carnitas or carne asada. They always taste fresh, and the meat has a ton of flavor. The place is good sized with tons of seating. I really don't have any complaints aside from I wish their beans were better.

I love Adelita's! I just wish they wouldn't take so long during the lunch hour. They get really busy, but I don't understand why it takes so long to make an enchilada or chilaquiles when there are so many people working in the kitchen. :/ I've come here twice during lunch and both times spent more than half of my lunch waiting for my comida. No, no bueno! I won't be coming here for lunch anymore unless I call in my order a head of time.
Great spot to go to after work though for some food and drinks. They make a good margarita! They have karaoke too, but I've never been so I'm not sure what nights they have it.
If you want authentic Mexican food, come here. If you go during lunch, I recommend calling your order in or just stopping by for dinner when they don't take as long to get your food out to you.
One thing I did like about this place is that that manager gave me and my coworker complimentary chips & guacamole while we waited for our food since it was taking so long. That was really nice of him to do. The guac here is yummy!
Try their chicken enchiladas or chilaquiles with a nice, cold horchata. Delicioso! -
Review from Nate R.
Now that I'm well settled into my South Bay digs, I think it's fair to say that Adelita's has assumed the role as my top choice for tacos and burritos.
I definitely like the look and feel of this place. A lot of my favorite taquerias have a crusty feel whereas this place is clean and kind of modern. The walls are adorned with posters from what I'm guessing is from Mexico's golden era of cinema as well as the obligatory Frida Kahlo & Diego Rivera artwork. When you order your food, you're given one of those little restaurant pagers that alert you when it's mealtime. I've also noticed that they have free Wi-Fi in case you want to bring the laptop and surf while you eat tacos.
Oh, and by the way, the name of the game for me at this place is tacos! Prawns, carnitas and pastor super tacos are the way to go at Adelita's. I just love the addition of sour cream and whole slices of avocado to my tacos which they serve up in a little wrapper to help you contain the tasty taco goopiness. There are definitely some strong opinions out there about whether or not beans should appear in tacos. I've seen people get seriously bummed when they discovered beans in their tacos. I personally don't mind the extra beans in the super tacos - for me it kind of bridges the gap between taco and burrito. You've been warned!
You won't go wrong with the burritos at this place for sure. I highly recommend the super burrito with carnitas. Honorable mention to the tortas, flautas and quesadillas as well.
See my review history. I don't hand out 5 star reviews all that often. I think the tacos are that damn good.Listed in: Mexi Can-DO!

This is a super late review I super owe to Adelitas Taqueria... I hate planning events. I didn't know what to do on my birthday. It was the Pacquiao Fight weekend, and one cool way to lure people to come, is to have the fight aired on PPV, alcohol..and of course good FOOD.... Days before...(yes i know, i started planning late) I kept calling private caterers for a party of 20, but most of the ones i called quoted me expensive prices with a minimum amount of guests..(say 50 people). Based on my facebook event, i had a little bit of over 20 going and 10 maybes.
2 days before my birthday, i came across Adelita's on YELP. How could i have forgotten about Adelitas? I've been here before and they had one of the most juicy carne asada tacos I've ever had. They also have yummy sauces.
So i went online and sent a message. An hour later, i got a call from Pattty.
Patty is such a lifesaver!!! She quoted me a decent price that included everything that i needed for a super bomb diggidy taco bar. My boyfriend went and picked it up and i was surprised with the amount of food that i got.
We ordered chicken and pork. and it came with a massive tray of salsa, a smaller tray for refried beans, chopped onions, cilantro, and lemons/limes..of course, she hooked us up with a lot of pre-warmed flour tortillas and the amazing orange, red and green sauces.
AT the party. 30 and more people showed up and the food was more than enough. For the price, i couldn't have asked more.
So thank you Patty (the taco fairy godmother) and Adelitas Taqueria for making my taco making party a HUGE HIT.
For those of you who don't want to deal with a lot of food prep, Adelitas will defintiely save your day. -

Review from James L.
Having just gotten out of a long, protracted meeting in the area, a friend of mine and I were famished and had no idea where on earth to go for dinner. We randomly drove down Curtner, saw the signs for Adelita's and decided to risk it.
The loud/obnoxious broheims hanging outside the restaurant weren't the best first impression but once we stepped inside, smelled the good food, and noticed that the place was filled with its own people, we started to relax and ordered a slew of food to try.
Prawn burrito, no cheese or sour cream, with avocado added: Excellent flavor. The burrito was generously filled and the prawns were super-juicy, cooked to just the right level of doneness. The only flaw in the burrito was the huge amount of bean juice in it; I had to pour liquid out of my burrito more than once just to eat it easily. Clearly whoever had scooped the beans out of the chafing dish and into the burrito hadn't bothered to do even a cursory draining of the liquid before ladling the beans onto the tortilla.
Chips and salsa: Not used to paying for them, but $1.50 wasn't bad and I have to admit it was worth paying for: the chips were light and not too greasy or salty, and the salsa and pico were both fresh and flavorful, which particularly impressed me as most tomatoes taste pretty awful right now unless you're willing to shell out.
Quesadillas: Both the mushroom and prawn quesadillas were fab, generously filled with their respective fillings and containing enough cheese to add a gooeyness without feeling like overload, and the tortillas were toasted to a really pleasing intense golden brown. I'm normally not a quesadillavore (can't eat dairy in substantial quantities and they're usually boring to eat or poorly done anyway) but this was good stuff, enough that I took multiple bites of both instead of just politely sampling.
Enchiladas: My friend ordered cheese enchiladas and got chicken enchiladas served to her instead. She kept it instead of sending it back and said it was okay.
Horchata: Good, no complaints.
Service: Friendly, and apart from the enchilada mix-up they seemed to be really on-point and handling the post-game dinner rush pretty well.
Overall a definite recommend if you're in the area and looking for good food. -

Nothing in San Jose comes close to these guys. Super fresh ingredients, friendly service, and good prices.
Hope I can enjoy these guys until I'm an old man....:) -

Campbell, CA
After digging around Yelp for a hint of good Mexican food around the area, we chanced upon Adelita's Taqueria near the Campbell area. We were hesitant at first, but the pretty ceviche and shrimp cocktail pictures on the menu mesmerized us. Ok...either that or we were starving from a long workout at the 24-hour fitness down the street and craved shrimp ceviche. Either way, we made our way there...
Nice big sign in front of the restaurant (good sign...no pun intended). Clean and spacious inside. Big menu on the back wall. Everything on the menu looked good. So, we walked up to the counter and ordered (this is a self-serviced restaurant). 60 bucks later, we were on our way home to eat and watch double shows on the CW (you know, Vampire Diaries and Secret Circle...but I digress).
Here's our break down:
1. Shrimp ceviche - full of shrimp and other things. Nice and limey. Just put in a little of their secret hot sauce and you're in heaven.
2. Pork and cheese quesadilla - been looking for this combo since we came back from Hawaii! Happy to say we found it. My sweetie and I ate this large stuffed combo in 8 bites!
3. 7 mares - full of seafood. Sweet broth. Soooo good.
4. Shrimp Diabla - way spicy. Gonna need some extra rice to slop this us. One of our less favorite dishes.
5. Shrimp and super shrimp tacos - didn't taste this, but from the sounds of my fiance, it was average.
Hmm...I guess it's back to gym today, huh?
Great food, great shows, great company. Can't ask for more. -

This is by far my favorite Taqueria in the bay area.
I always get the super tacos with carne asada. i just cant get over the slightly crispy tortillas with melted cheese, whole pinto beans, meat, and huge slices of avocado.
Service is always fast a friendly and the prices are very reasonable. I also love that this place is family owned. One time my husband asked the owner who the artist was that was playing on the stereo and mentioned that he liked it. The owner took the CD out of the player and actually gave it to us!
In short, great quality food with great service too. -

Decided to give this place another chance. UGH! 0 for 2. Adelitas is not authentic, almost mall-ish or school cafeteria. Go to la Victoria's, el grullense, or casa azteca. You'll thank me later.

I was a little disappointed with my visit. I saw all the pics and thought everything looked so good!
The seating area is nice. Very clean and roomy.
However, my friend said her carne asada tacos were just ok.
I thought my regular veggie taco was pretty good, but you can get that anywhere.
Then I tried the fish corn quesidilla. Very salty...
I think i might come and try something with prawns instead, like their ceviche.
The workers are fast and very friendly though. -

We have had Adelita's cater three different parties for us over the last couple of years. The food was great. They provide everything; several different salsas, guacamole, tortillas, rice, beans etc. They even let us use their warming trays at no cost. The food was plentiful. We had left overs even though there were some big eaters. The prices are very reasonable. The food was ready when we wanted it and they were so friendly and helpful. I will definitely order from Adelita's for my next party.

One of my favorite places over the last 14 years to go and grab a Super Carnitas Burrito. My review is based on my overall experience over the last decade, not the last few months...
The pork was always very flavorful and had a slight crispiness on the edges. They know how to make a great burrito. The chicken, moist and full of juicy flavor.
Then something mysterious happened. Still not sure what, but I noticed my burritos haven't tasted or had the same texture as they did previously...don't get me wrong, they're not bad...just not as good as before. Went back last week, same thing, and this time the chicken was totally flavorless...hmmm, what's goin' on here?
I'll most likely keep going back cuz they're really nice and relatively close to where I live and hopefully the food quality will pick up from where it was previously. -

Ceviche!!!! MmMmmMmMMmm!!!
Fast friendly service with plenty of seating. Huge plus in my books since they do serve a brown rice tortilla (awesome for those that need gluten free-don't see that often at taquerias!)
I love their super flour quesadillas. Cheesy, goldeny and crispy with carne asada (drooling as I type!). Even eating a super burrito to go 4 hours later was just as good as getting it and eating it there. -

Just got back from here, first visit.
Super Taco and Taco - One with shredded chicken, one with grilled.
Would get both again, preferred the shredded though.
Chips/Salsa - The chips/salsa is good, the pico is meh.
Horchata - meh, don't get it
Mushroom quesadilla - Wife got it and liked it a lot. I tried it and it was quite tasty.
I really like how they have salsa in those squirt bottles instead of putting it in the stupid little plastic cups.
Like the atmosphere. Will be back for sure. -

This is by far, the best taqueria I have been to. I have been coming here for over 5 years. My favorite menu items are the super burrito, supper tacos, and super nachos.
I keep coming back because they put fresh avocado slices on their "super" menu items as well as fresh pico de gallo. They recently remodeled their space, including new flat screens, and doubled the seating area.
Go here if you want fresh, authentic mexican food!!!!! -

OK. I've been back. A couple of times even. And quality control has really improved.
My vegetarian son was skeptical. He actually opened up his burrito before we left the restaurant just to double check there was no meat. And lo and behold--no meat!
The mushrooms were as delicious as I'd remembered.

I know there are mixed review on this restaurant, and I was in the area looking for dinner. Thought of try it myself since there are so many different opinion.
Order Carnitas Burrito and it was great! I noticed a lot of reviewer on Taco, and of course I did order. Overall their taste is great and price is reasonable too.
If I'm in the area again I will definitely try other menus.
You have to order at the counter and wait till your beeper alert you when the food is ready. This is not a full serve restaurant. -

I wanted to like this restaurant because of the good reviews, but it simply didn't meet the hype
Since a lot of people recommend the Super Tacos i had the:
-Super Taco w/ chicken (Comes with cheese, avocado, beans, salsa fresca) 6/10
-Super Taco w/ carne asada (Comes with cheese, avocado, beans, salsa fresca) 6/10
I gave them a 6/10 because the chicken was too stringy and the carne asada was plain. Along with that, they were very soggy. Flour tortilla soggy doesn't taste that good dripping with excess sauce.
I went in for some breakfast the next day thinking it might be different. Sadly I was wrong.
-Breakfast Burrito w/chorizo (Comes with sautéed onions, bell peppers and tomatoes) 5/10
I wouldn't recommend it, mostly because the egg tasted plain and was flavorless, even with the salsa it didn't help.
-Orange Juice $3.95?! 4/10
My other gripe was their "fresh squeezed" Orange Juice, first of all that price is outrageous. I gave it a try because I thought, at that price it's going to be something unbelievably good. Turned out, I was wrong again. Absolutely nothing special about it. Wish I could say it tasted better than store bought OJ but, I'd take any brand OJ over the one that I had there.
I don't think I will be coming back to try anything else, but at least the restaurant was clean. -

I really don't understand what all the hype is about this place, You can go to other Taquerias in San Jose and get a better burrito for far less cheaper. I came here twice and was not impressed. The meat was very bland and was room temp. This would be an ideal place to eat if you are in the neighborhood and since this is South San Jose, this is probably your best option....

I pretty much always order the Super Taco w/ Carnitas - my absolute favorite Mexican joint in the SF South Bay. Service times can be inconsistent depending upon how busy they are, but I don't care because the food is worth the wait.
And, um, all I'm going to say is, this is a good place for single ladies to window shop. :) -

San Francisco Bay, CA
I rate the service for this place 5 stars, but sadly the food only got a 3 for me.
I came here with my hubby last week and ordered one fish taco. Upon getting it I noticed it looked like it was covered in a substance I absolutely hate: mayo!! I thought to myself, 'No, it can't be. I've had a million fish tacos all over the Cali and beyond, and I've never seen mayo on one!'. But while poking around with my fork, I though it looked all too much like the nasty condiment - and decided to go check with the cashier. Boy am I glad I did, it was mayo! I would have definitely lost my lunch on their floor had I taken a bite into that thing.
Anyways the guy behind the counter (maybe a manager of sorts) informed me it was mayo. I said I had never ever had one with mayo and apologized profusely but asked if I could get another one without it. (I hate sending food back, but this was def necessary). He said he understood and that mayo on a fish taco wasn't common. (and it doesn't list the ingredients on the menu). He had the cook make me a new one, and even upgraded it to a super taco for free. He also handed the mayo one back to me and said if my hubby wanted it he could keep it, if not to just leave it on the table.
They were all SO nice - the cashier, the manager-type guy, and the cook. My new fish taco was about a 3 out of 5. Good, but not great. I would try this place again, but only to try something new like enchiladas... And only after asking what comes on it! -

Have not eaten here since they remodeled but they refused to serve us because they said they were closed even though we got there 15 minutes before closing time and the doors were still open. There reason was that they cleaned the kitchen early. Here's an idea, how about you clean the kitchen and stop serving food after the closing time that's listed on the door and on the Internet. For that, you only get 1 star. I will post a review based on their food if I decide to ever go back.

Despite the high prices and the fact that they charge $1.50 for chips, the crowds here always seem to remain large. And now I know why...
The food here is delicious. I ordered a shrimp burrito here recently, and was actually quite impressed. The prawns were plump and delicious. They seem to have been marinated and cooked in a manner that I'd never experienced before. The burrito's portion was perfect, with just the perfect amount of fillings. Bigger doesn't always mean better with these things...
The owner at the register was very friendly, and the room itself was clean and relaxing. They have an orange sauce in squirt bottles here, (a la La Vic), but I highly recommend their red sauce. Nice kick. Definitely a place worth recommending... -

This place rocks! I've been back a number of occasions, mostly for their tacos/super tacos. I've tried their tacos with a number of the different meats they have to offer, but keep coming back to their al pastor tacos. It's like no other al pastor I have had at any of the other taquerias in the area. Instead of chopping up the al pastor, they keep it in big marinated hunks of goodness. Perfect with an ice cold beer.
The only minuses with the place is the plates Ive tried were pretty average, and I wasnt too big on their rice and beans. -

I've ordered takeout from Adelita's three times now, and I have no intention on ever returning.
Each time I went, they failed to make what I ordered.
I haven't eaten meat in 18 years, and there's nothing more aggravating than having to return to a restaurant because somebody managed to get chicken in a simple bean and rice burrito.
I understand that mistakes happen, and if it had only happened once I wouldn't mind. But three times in a row is unacceptable.
I'm giving two stars because the replacement orders were decent, but I would not recommend ever coming here.
