I've heard about Adelita's since we first moved to Loveland. Finally went last night. We knew the owner was rude and the wait would be long. They quoted 45 minutes and it was closer to an hour. We did have margaritas and it was good. The bathrooms were clean. Yes, it is a pain to take only cash and have a single stall, but there is no sharing, which I like.
There were four of us in the group and we all wanted the same special. We were lucky to have ordered at that time because we got the last four available. Our waitress, Lupe, was terrific. The chips were good and the salsa flavorful. There was just enough of the chips so that we didn't fill up on them.
I will agree that if they utilized one of the two patio areas for dining, the wait would be shorter. The special we ordered was very good tasting and good sized portions. I took mine home and finished it this morning for breakfast.
We will go back and order food from the menu so we can compare to other Mexican places in town. -

Have eaten here several times over the years and it used to be a great place that we looked forward to. However after they won best of Loveland some how it seemed like they got a big head and stopped caring. Some of the servers are definitely good, however there are a few that have attitudes. The portion sizes of what they give you seemed to have shrank also. We stopped going here quite awhile ago due to too many negatives we experienced. You will always have at least an hour wait on Friday or Saturday night and it could truly be more like 1.5 to 2 hours. You will wait that long and then they will bring you the tiniest bowl of salsa possible and a few chips. There are way better places for Mexican with a lot less wait we have found. You are missing out if you believe this place is worth a 2 hour wait.

TexMex at best. I'm not sure I would go back...... I rather go to 3 Margaritas a couple miles away.

We have been there several times only to wait for an extreme amount of time before seating. The service is slow and uncaring. The food is mediocre, at best. I would not waste my time when there are so many choices in downtown. Go there for a marg then head to Henry's for dinner.

I eat a lot of Mexican at a lot of different places, and this place...wow. Not good. For starters, when you walk in the patio, a wall of cigarette smoke hits you. Huh? I thought that was done in Colorado. After pushing my way through the plumes, we sat down in the waiting area. (Nice plastic lawn chairs, by the way.)
After a very long wait in a half filled restaurant, we finally were shown to our table. The place looks like it hasn't been updated in decades..along with the staff. I haven't seen a more unhappy staff in my life. No smiles. No "hi". Nothing.
During our wait for food, I requested another basket of their over-salty chips and bland salsa and received them sometime a week later. (OK, but it was way too long.) And after the food was delivered on searing hot, 3rd degree burns plates, no one ever came back to offer refills on water and/or other drinks. I had to ask a busboy for more water, so he handed me a pitcher of water and told me to just keep it at the table.
The menu is OK and the food is the same as 95% of Mexican restaurants in the country - mediocre. Their kids menu consists of a cheeseburger or bean burrito. Lame. I will say their prices are very reasonable, so that's a plus if you're into the "budget Mexican dinner" thing.
Bathrooms - one toilet for men and one toilet for women. Not cool...especially at a Mexican restaurant, if you know what I mean.
Last, but not least - CASH ONLY. WHAT?!?! Yes... but they conveniently have an ATM right next to the counter, so your meal will cost another $5 in bank fees if you don't carry big sums to pay for a group of 10. (Hey - join the 80's and give VISA a call for a card reader.) -

I've lived in Loveland nearly all my life (30+ years) and have been subjected to Adelita's by more than one friend or business partner.
Horrible Mexican food. No authenticity or effort in the food; everything is bland.
Stay home and open cans of beans and enchilada sauce and box of taco shells - you have Adelita's.
On top of that, the service is normally slow, rude or incompetent.
All in all, it's depressing, because it's such a great location and a cute little restaurant. -

I lived in Loveland for about 5 years and never knew this place existed. A neat little place just off of the downtown drag, and tucked away in the neighborhood, Adelitas came highly recommended by friends and family. My experience was pretty good too. Here's some pointers:
The wait I'm told can be ridiculous, but there's plenty of space to wait on the three patios they've added on to this place - just call ahead for a table and BE ON TIME because they won't sit incomplete parties.
Our visit was a couple days before Christmas with The Mrs. and the in-laws for dinner. Yes it was cold outside and the patio was packed but nothing one of their margaritas wouldn't fix. Once seated, we had plenty of chips & salsa while we looked over the menu, and when it came time to order our waitress was really friendly as was happy to make suggestions. I just had a couple tacos with beans & rice, which were tasty and plenty, especially with the 3 baskets of chips that the kid and I went thru.
A touch more expensive than a typical neighborhood Mexican restaurant, but the margs are cheap, potent, and the service was excellent - our server, busboy, cashier, the entire staff thanked us multiple times on the way out!
HEADS UP - they DO NOT accept credit/debit cards, just cash or check. A bit inconvenient since it's 2010, but hey, we still don't commute by flying cars and jet-packs either.
The entire place was decked out for the holiday! I felt like we were eating dinner in an Olan Mills portrait studio, but without the awkward lighting and hokey over-the-shoulder poses.
I don't think I'd eat there all the time just because of the wait, but I'd definitely be there for special occasions. -

This is truly the local's favorite. The good: Excellent food, low prices. The bad: the locals pack it every night of the week. A three hour wait is not uncommon.

Yes Adelita...you were demoted to a 3 star. I went in here last week and ordered the Chili Rellenos, a little too much batter for my liking. But that's not why I put you at a 3 star...the service is horrible! I dont understand why these old ladies feel that they have to treat people this way?! The reason I keep you at a 3 star is because I like the chips and Margs!

Great, inexpensive food (although the salsa leaves something to be desired, tastes like it's out of a jar - I'm picky) eye-zinging decor (think pink!), big outdoor seating area to enjoy when the weather is nice. Take advantage of the daily specials. They don't accept credit cards, so plan ahead.

I know a lot of people who love this place...but I am not one of them. The salsa is not good. Like another reviewer said, like a jarred salsa. I also don't think the food is anything special. It is reasonable in price though. I try to go hear about once a year. Mostly too see if the food gets any better but sadly, it does not. I will say, it's all up to your idea of "good" mexican food. We have lots of friends who adore this place but my family just doesn't like it much

From friends, I had several positive reports about Adelita's. Having eaten there three or four times, I have no idea why they felt that way. The food was uninteresting, poorly prepared and often long in coming. The tostadas were more than disappointing. More than just the salsa seemed directly out of a jar. I must admit that the folks at nearby tables seemed to be having a much better time than was warranted by my assessment of the food . Many people love this place.

For some reason the locals love this place. I am a native of Loveland and while the atmosphere is intriguing the place is popular and small. Expect to wait to be seated then don't expect speedy service or service with a smile. The food is Americanized and not real spicy. So if this is what you are looking for it is a good value. For me, there is much better authentic Mexican food without the wait and server attitude in Loveland. If you have the time, don't mind the attitude, and want the best atmosphere it's worth a one time visit with out of town guests.

We're new to Loveland, having moved from the Chicago 'burbs. We're just added Adelita's to our list of favorite places to eat in Loveland. I had the seafood enchilada special and my wife had the chili rellenos. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the great margaritas, and the terrific tortilla chips. Adelita's was a pleasant surprise to find in Loveland!

Great margaritas, chips, salsa, and gauc! Wonderful food! Some of our favorite choices are chicken & gauc. tacos, chill rellenos, fajitas, fajita burrito, #7 special--just to name a few. Yes, you have to wait for a table, but the place is busy! If you find there's a wait, grab a table on the patio, order a margarita and you are set! We love this place!
