I LOVE Adelaide's. Their flowers and arrangements are always beautiful, but what I always come here for is the Christmas ornaments.
I like to check out the ornaments every year to get myself a couple new ones and deciding is usually really hard. This year I got 6 instead of just 1.
The service is great, and they can help you design the flowers of your dreams, but be prepared to pay for it. -

Its probably no way to start a 4 star review but let's get the only reason this place didn't make 5 stars out of the way, its expensive. By now, you should already know this place is in La Jolla so when I say its expensive, you didn't go into cardiac arrest.
Adelaide's has been a La Jolla staple for forever and a day. Having lived in La Jolla for a while in the mid-to late 70's, I can remember my folks doing business with this place. Heck, they may have been the only florist in La Jolla at that time and could still be for all I know. Come to think of it, I don't know of any other florists in La Jolla.

Adelaide's has been my go-to Florist for years. Even when I moved away from San Diego, they are who I would call for all floral deliveries back in SD to my family and friends. Now that I am back, they are who I call for all personal and work related floral needs.
They are pricey but the work they do is absolutely amazing and worth the price. Just a couple weeks ago I called them to help me out with a floral arrangement for delivery up in Washington state. Adelaide's work is exceptional and I stressed to the woman helping me that I needed the arrangement to be held up to their standards with whomever they partnered with up in the Washington area. The woman who I sent them to and her family were blown away by the arrangement, sent pictures and gushed over it for a couple days. Adelaide's guaranteed that they partner with other shops around the nation who will put out the quality of work that they always do here in their own shop.
Every arrangement I have ever purchased for delivery in San Diego has always been exactly what I asked for and then about 10 notches higher than my expectations.
Customer service is exceptional and I am treated like a valued customer every single time I call. I don't give any other shop but Adelaide's my floral business. -

One of the biggest pluses is that Adelaide's is next to Ace Hardware. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but I bet it leads to a lot more bouquets brought home for girlfriends and wives than if the men were not in close proximity to the best flower shop in La Jolla when they were feeling elated about tools and screws and paint, or whatever they feel happy about.
I do appreciate your telling my boyfriend that white flowers are for funerals. I'm sure a lot of men need to know that information because a lot of women would be miffed at the selection of death flowers for romance. Not my man.
My man candy makes me beautiful green and white bouquets. And you, Adelaide's, put them together beautifully. You tie them up with a pretty green bow and he brings them home and I beam. Some of the freshest, most beautiful flowers I've ever seen come from this store. -

So, I decided at practically the last minute (a week before the holiday) that I wanted a centerpiece for the family Thanksgiving dinner table. After browsing various online floral retailers and lamenting about the waste of collecting vases, baskets, and other flower-holding vessels when ordering online, I was made aware that I could actually take something into a florist and have then use that, cutting down on waste and redundancy. So began my search for a local florist I could hopefully trust with custom arrangement.
I selected Adelaide's based on the reviews here on Yelp and called to see if they could do a custom arrangement on such short notice. The woman I spoke to seemed friendly and told me they could get an arrangement done and to bring by my pumpkin (I have one of those open-topped pumpkins that have become so popular for fall arrangements that I wanted to have re-floraled). On the way out of the house, I also grabbed a long, narrow, wire bread basket, thinking maybe instead of a small round pumpkin arrangement, I could see if they could do something more linear, which would better compliment our long table.
On my drive over, I decided to get two separate arrangements done - one in the pumpkin, one in the basket. Upon arriving, the florists were happy to see the "pumpkin girl" was here. Gini (I believe her name was) was assigned the somewhat arduous task of discerning what I wanted. Both arrangements needed to be organic, flowy, not-so-symmetrical, and not filled with typical centerpiece flowers. In particular, not chock full of roses, although I did think some mini roses would be sweet. The pumpkin arrangement could be brighter and more whimsical fall colors, as it would sit on the sunny kitchen table, while the main centerpiece would have darker tones of similar fall colors. We decided on prices for the two arrangements and I pre-paid.
The whole next week I spent kicking myself for spending so much on flowers, sure I would be let down. Not that the woman helping me didn't inspire confidence, but I am so used to spending a lot and getting little in return that I was sure I might as well have thrown a couple of Benjamins into the ocean.
However, when I saw the arrangements a week later, I was floored. They were gorgeous, exceeded my wildest expectations, and well worth the cost. I could not have been happier with the quality of the flowers, expert design, and overall presentation. The layers of flowers, veggies, and other natural elements allowed for new discoveries the closer you look and the quality of materials is exquisite.
I will never again doubt the cost and craftsmanship of Adelaide's. Well worth the price and the flowers stay fresh forever. Adelaide's has definitely become my exclusive florist for all my floral needs. Cannot wait for Christmas to have another opportunity for a gorgeous arrangement! -

My hubby grew up in a flower shop. He is a little bit of a flower snob. Which has made me a flower snob. :D
These guys are the real deal. My husband has been sending me flowers 2-3x a year mostly from Adelaide's but from other florists too for 6+ years. Adelaide's flowers/arrangments/customer service aren't even in the same ballpark as the others.
They always call to make sure I got them and that they looked alright. This time, they tied little knots at the end of the ribbons. Who does that??!! What an interesting touch.
I'm sure my hubby is paying a little extra to send me flowers but I'm always in awe when I get them and he gets a thank you call within seconds. I send him pictures and proudly display them.
I've never been disappointed or bored with what they've delivered. -

Only 4 because of the prices or I would give it 6. I actually walk through here without buying anything because it's all so nice.
I'm not sure if it's the arrangements or the quality of the actual blooms that makes Adelaide's Flowers so special but they really do seem nicer than your average blooms.
I wish they would run a Yelp special and I would so buy something nice. -

Don't you think it would be funny if you had your ex-boyfriend pick up flowers at this incredible shop to deliver them to your sister on her birthday as a surprise but you called ahead to the office and told her co-workers that a stripper is coming and they should rip his pants off when he arrives because he needs encouragement to start shaking his stuff?

This is the only florist that I use. I first heard about them at work by word of mouth. Then when I received a bouquet I was sold. Very beautiful arrangements and the staff is friendly.
I have called and needed same day delivery and each time my request has been fulfilled. Yes this place is a little more pricey but you get what you pay for and if you care enough to send a floral arrangement why not send the best. Guys, take note! -

Great customer service. We went in for a high school dance corsage and the service was great. She was helpful and understanding and had a large selection. I thought the price would be through the roof in downtown LJ, but it was ~$40. The corsage included keepsake bracelet to boot! They have flowers, gifts and were wonderful! Highly recommend!

I received a message from Adelaide's owner thanking me for my write-up of their floral shop. The owner was considerate to mention in her e-mail that the purple flowers I received (whose identification I could not figure out for the life of me) are in fact lilacs specially-grown in Julian. Again, Adelaide's is professional and all-around wonderful. I recommend them to anyone in the local area in need of flowers for that certain special occasion. :)

Flowers are flowers, but for a while now they have been doing the arrangements in our lobby in downtown San Diego - they are absolutely amazing!

Got a promotion (woohoo!) and so the husband sent me flowers from here. They are stunning. Tulips, roses, hydrangeas, lilies, gerber daisies, and on and on and on. Not an arrangement full of filler flowers. I trimmed the stems twice, and changed the water 3 times and they lasted forever...no wilting/sagging.
I have to send flowers for a memorial next month, and this place will be getting my business.
As I said, they were a gift so I don't know the cost, but I suspect they aren't cheap. Doesn't matter, it is obvious that you're paying for quality. I believe there are certain things you should never skimp on (price wise), and flowers are 1 of those things. -

Fresh flowers that are SOO gorgeous! I used to get flowers from this place all the time. They have beautiful arrangement however, the prices are a little on the expensive side.
But then again, hey isn't it worth it to spend those extra bucks for nice flowers for your sweetie?! -

I went by this location when Thomas Jefferson and I were walking back from breakfast yesterday. I am a HUGE Lover of Flowers to grow as well as to receive. I was awe-strucked at how BEAUTIFUL these flowers in the shop were... how unique... how abundant and vibrant the colors. I did not inquire of pricing but I would venture to guess they wouldn't be CHEAP as I am in the Catering field and we purchase flowers as well as I see a lot come in for various events so I am especially particular about quality and this shop was above and beyond in their stock.
Tiger Lillies that were HUMONGOUS and the purple was so deep a color all I can say is WOW! If you are ever down in the San Diego area and need to pick up flowers or if you need to send flowers to someone down in that area I totally recommend this spot.

My sister's friend works here and has done a variety of floral arrangements for my family parties! Not to mention they were just recently featured on the Orange County Housewives show for doing floral arrangements for Lauri and George's wedding. I saw the season finale episode on Bravo yesterday as I was able to watch a glimpse of my friend and her hands preparing the beautiful fine decor. Without their added touches, I don't think that wedding would have looked as beautiful as it did.
I believe they truly appreciate what they do as they enjoy putting these floral arrangements together for their customers. I would highly recommend their service for any occasion! -

Adelaide's flowers are AMAZING.
The store is filled with incredible decorations and gorgeous trinkets. The staff and employees are super friendly and always willing to help you find what you're looking for.
Being from La Jolla, my family and I have always gone to Adelaide's for all our floral needs. Recently. my mom and I went in to look at some wedding arrangements and bouquets. We went in on a Saturday without and appointment, and even though the person who normally does the wedding consultations wasn't there, Gina helped us with everything we needed.
I went into Adelaide's not sure of what I wanted and left completely happy and with a vision of what I wanted for my wedding.
Adelaide's is wonderful. -

Adelaide's came to the rescue for me the night before my wedding when I didn't have a bouquet for either myself or my MOH. I walked in just before the store closed on New Year's Eve on the verge of tears. The ladies that stayed to help me were so gracious and accomodating that they saved the day. I was able to buy ribbon, floral tape and pins to make boutonniers and other corsages. It's not easy to find anybody open on those days, so I will always regard Adelaide's and those lovely ladies as a God send!

I'm not picky with flowers but for Valentine's Day, I'm not crazy about a red rose, so hubby was challenged with getting me a flower arrangement that had the flowers I love as well as a red rose (he believes it's a sign of Love so I should have at least one). I told him I didn't want anything too big or too fancy, so he shouldn't go too big and so he came back from this place with a beautiful arrangements of orchids, white rose and red roses. I was stunned and thrilled to see that it wasn't gaudy, over done or gigantic. It's sitting on my table as a nice centerpiece right now. The flowers are really fresh and my rose doesn't look like it's going to die tomorrow like other roses.

I love this place. The people who work here are friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. The prices are comparable to other florists and they had gorgeous arrangements displayed around their store. The gentleman who worked here answered all my questions and helped me pick out a beautiful miniature orchid potted plant for $40.

Now, this is a flower shop! Their arrangements are retinal candies, and I enjoy the spaciousness of the spot. It is as if you were walking into a garden as the water fountains soothe your senses. Their flower selection is ample, and the staff, or should I say the floral artists, are very accommodating and creative. In sum, it is a high-end flower shop in beautiful La Jolla.

I stopped into Adelaide's while I was waiting to meet a friend for dinner. What a gem! I didn't get any flowers but found the most adorable Christmas decorations. The store looked beautiful and the staff was nothing but sweet! Absolutely love what I got and would definitely go back for other floral needs. The floral arrangements that I did see them put together looked fantastic!

I'm surprised at how often i need to take flowers to something. I highly recommend Adelaide's. Save yourself the embarrassment of giving your friends a Von's bouquet that'll be dead in 48 hours. I know they cost more, but they're worth every extra penny.

The only offense is that it is not right next door...Adelaides has been my single favorite flower shop since I was 14. You get to choose your flowers, and they help you arrange them, I LOVE this place.

They are a little pricey, but do beautiful work. We received a beautiful wreath from this flower shop for a family member's funeral. I have since sent flowers from Adelaides, and they always receive rave reviews. I wish I knew of an equal flower shop in Los Angeles.

Very beautiful arrangements and prices are comparable with other florists. I was a bit disappointed by delivery time though, it had been ordered in the morning and wasn't delivered until 7 PM that evening although I had specified they need to arrive by noon.

When I was younger, I aspired to work at Adelaide's. And it wasn't even because I wanted to be a florist or anything like that. It just seemed to exude that sort of ambience that says "I'm beautiful, and you're beautiful because you're looking at me." I guess you won't know what I mean unless you go there - it's just a really nice place with really nice people. It's a splurge though...

everything is stunning in this store. its absolute heaven to be in there and take everything in. Unfortunately the prices are really high, but what can you expect from La Jolla? Go here if you are really picky about your flowers and have a lot of spare change!

Adelaide's is AMAZING! Yes, they are more expensive when you compare them to "discount" florists so to speak BUT Adelaide's receives fresh flowers daily therefore the flowers will last a long time. The other great thing about Adelaide's is the amazing customer service. If for some reason the flowers do not last, all you have to do is let them know and they respond immediately. I order flowers on a regular basis - and they always impress. Literally Stunning. Their designers are top notch they can embellish your own idea or make up something completely original with just a little guidance. The store itself is darling and they have many reasonably priced decorations for your home. Love Adelaide's!
