Yum, yum, yum! One of the reasons I loved Columbia was for its cute and unique downtown eateries. I've been to Addison's several times and while it definitely get busy, they are also plenty capable of handling a party which was evidenced by 25 of us going to begin my honorary little sister's 21st bday. The nachos are fantastic, the wonton chips truly make the dish. All the food I've had has been prepared and presented impeccably. From a succulent french dip to pork chops that were to die for, this place presents food in a casual environment with an upscale flavor. Can't wait to return!

Nachos Bianco. What more is there to say? Addison's is chill, friendly, affordable (for the most part) and the food and drink are damn good. I'm a fan.

One of my absolute FAVORITE restaurants in town. The Nacho's Bianco are delicious. They are made with wanton chips and topped with chicken and asiago cheese sauce. We also have them add black beans. There are so many good things here.. Ill try to name my favorites. The nachos I mentioned before, Crab Rangoon dip, pepper jack cheese fries (on late night menu but can be ordered anytime), Chicken Philly, Blue Steak Wrap, Addisons Burger... the list goes on. Try this place if you havent'!

This place gets PACKED! I guess if it wasn't so small, then it wouldn't feel like the whole town was there. It was a pretty casual place, but I could see the upper-upper-middle class hanging out here. ;-)
The portions are pretty humoungous. Be ready to E-A-T. Don't even worry about an appetizer. There's no point, because you won't finish it, much less your meal.
The food was good, which was the general consensus amoungst my table. My aunt got the nachos, which were the size of her. Apparently, the chips are like. . . flour tortillas or some craziness like that. Very good.
The restaurant was LOUD. The server was not at her best. The temperatue was not comfortable. I wouldn't go out of my way for this place, especially because it's so packed. If you are driving by and hungry, the food is pretty good. -
Review from Wendy S.
While trying to avoid interstate dining offerings (i.e. fast food), I found myself exiting into Columbia looking for a decent meal. The fella Yelped me this spot for a quick bite. The place was packed on a Saturday afternoon with college kids and the like. While there was a wait for a table, the bar was large and had plenty of seating available. I grabbed a seat and perused the rather large menu, from which I chose the Southwest Tortilla Salad which was pretty kick ass. My only complaint would be that they should reconsider the ranch dressing on the side and swap it out with something spicier. I mean, ranch is gross on or with anything. I ended up using the salsa as my dressing and that was quite tasty.
Addison's is a great place to stop in for a quick bite or drink at the bar, but I don't know that I'd stick around long enough to wait for a table. -

Addison's is one of those places I've always heard about but never visited. On a whim, some friends and I decided to go there for dinner Friday night. The wait was long but definitely worth it.
A friend recommended the nachos so we got some as an appetizer. The nachos are insanely good. I hear the chips are made from some type of pasta, and to me they have the consistency of eggroll skins. They are covered in a wonderful cheese concoction.
I ordered the pesto tortellini. It came boiling hot and also full of cheese. The portion was giant: I usually polish off an entree (and then some) but I had to concede that there was too much pasta for me to eat.
Last note: the server was very friendly and helpful. -

Columbus, OH
Great food. The nachos are not the best I've ever had, but they are really good. I'm just not much of a melted cheese fan, and there's no salsa...? The chicken philly was really good too. Definitely a nicer spot to eat and have a beer around town...a respectable spot, where at any given time during the weekend, you can find plenty of college kiddos going to lunch with mom and dad.

Kansas City, MO
As a Mizzou Alumni, I have eaten at Addison's more times than I can even begin to estimate. It's that good. Addison's is just the perfect place for almost every occasion: date night, lunch with your parents, late night happy hour, girls night out, etc.
Having been here so many times, I can also say I've had almost everything on the menu. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Nachos Bianco. The cheese sauce must have crack in it or something. I can not come here and not get it. Sometimes I specifically come here for the nachos. They're that good.
- Mediterranean Salad. The balsamic vinegar reduction they put on it adds a nice sweet touch to the salad.
- Marinated Chicken Philly. I can't even describe how good this is. If you love a sandwich that comes loaded with tons of stuff, you'll like this.
- Sweet Potato Chips. Yum.
- Addison's also has an impressive selection of beers and wines that are priced very affordably, especially during their happy hours.
Other than the food, I come to Addison's as often as I do for the atmosphere. It's always bustling. It's a fun, yet casual place to hang out. The bar is a great place to post up and the booths are great places to cozy up with a group of friends. I also love that the restaurant is decorated with art by local artists. It definitely helps give the place that local "Columbia" feel.
Sure, Addison's sister restaurant Sophia's is slightly better, but it's also a fancier restaurant, so it shouldn't be directly compared. As I see it, the only disadvantage to this place is that it's ALWAYS crowded, and they do not take reservations. But as far as downtown restaurants go, this is one of the best places for a casual, yet special meal...so in my opinion, it's worth the wait. -
Review from Jon L.
I always love going back to Columbia and going to old favorite restaurants. Addison's is a Columbia staple. I was in town for the Mizzou vs. ku game and we were looking for a spot to eat after the game that wasn't going to have a ridiculous wait. We were in luck!
I got the super fantastic really yummy burger (or something to that effect is what the menu said) and it was all of those adjectives and more! The burger was great: covered in two types of cheese, topped with onion straws, bacon, and a spicy horseradish mayo. And it had marinated cucumbers on it as well. May not be the healthiest choice, but man it was good. This is definitely a great spot in Columbia to get a casual meal. The funny part is when I was at Mizzou, this was the fanciest place in town!! Or so I thought... Either way, it is a great place to eat. -

We had brunch here and I enjoyed it far more than my husband. I would LOVE to go back, but he found it only two stars, while I would give it four. (Hence the three star rating here) He had a french toast dish (which I liked!) and I had an interesting version of Eggs Benedict, which I also liked. He thought both were just o.k. The atmosphere was modern and "hipster" (again, this is Columbia, NOT L.A.) with a comfortable, clean feel. (Eateries in Columbia can often feel tired or neglected)

Great place for happy hour (apps and drinks) or meeting with a bunch of friends. Good atmosphere and service, even with large groups... they're probably used with all the college students near by...
The Snow Cone is dangerous though!... not only does it taste like a grape snow cone (with a sugar rim) but it takes a bit for you to realize all the alcohol that you just consumed... and if you're not careful you have downed a few by the time it hits you!
Their main entree offerings have never really thrilled me, just seems like a local version (and slightly improved) of say an Applebees or Chili's... but there are some definite surprises and tempters on it though! I really need to get away from the Diablo Shrimp Pasta (I've been drawn to that one the last couple of times that I have been there). -

They have a late night menu (yay!) and it's delicious. A nice place to grab a bite and a yummy drink. I'll definitely go back during normal dinner hours.

The food was good this time, but as usual a little understaffed. The entire bar was staffed by one blonde ponytailed cutie during dinner.

Columbia, MO
Good solid food, nice sandwiches, pretty decent beer on tap, for a reasonable price. Certainly work checking out.
The couple of times I've been there, the staff has been quick and attentive, the atmosphere is good (particularly if you get a booth) and a good place to go with a group. -

Arlington, VA
The lemon pepper calamari appetizer was tasty, if a little salty, but the honey mustard dipping sauce didn't add anything. My shrimp diablo pasta was delicious, and remarkably spicy. My wife would have liked her Thai chicken salad if the chicken had been grilled or sauteed, but battered and fried was to heavy for her taste.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. -

Long time for waiter to come and take our order. Getting the food after the order took forever. 4 of the 5 of us were unimpressed with our food. My black bean wrap was quite oily.

Good stuff! Great service! Per recommendation of friends, had the nachos bianca (sp). I ordered the large plate with the sausage, and it was very large and very tasty. Probably should've taken the small order, and diversified the experience with the burger (good reviews on this site) or the bbq pulled pork looked intriguing, too. So, something to look forward to, next time. Casual, but nice. Very comfortable. Would be comfortable taking a client there.

Santa Clara, CA
Another surprisingly good restaurant in Columbia that completely deserves a 4.5.
I went here with my hubby and a friend. We started by sharing the sweet potato chips, which is a huge and delicious appetizer. It was hard for the three of us to finish the large portion, but we did anyway. I had the mediterranean salad and was pleasantly surprised by the tasty addition of basil and artichoke hearts. But I think the best deal was my husband's ahi tuna sandwich. It's not really a sandwich, but more of a large ahi tuna steak on a piece of focaccia. It was delicious, and seemed like a lot of tuna for $8.99!
We sat near the bar where there were televisions playing sports and other shows, which kept my husband distracted while my friend and I gossiped. The atmosphere is pretty laid back and the staff seemed very friendly and fairly efficient. I can see why my friend took us here. -

This place is a solid 4. The restaurant is a nice environment, the wait staff is quick and nice, and the food is really good. We were looking for a place to eat on a road trip, and Yelp directed us to this place.
Everyone on Yelp seems to recommend the nachos, but we didn't get them because after being on a long road trip, more asiago cheese dishes (seriously, they're everywhere) just didn't sound appetizing. So we got the lobster ravioli instead. It was pretty good ravioli, but unfortunately, there are only 5 pieces. But it is only an appetizer, after all.
The tortellini pasta bake was really delicious, though. Certainly one of the best I've ever had. A really large portion, too. I wasn't able to finish it. -

Columbia, MO
I ate here on a Monday night around 8pm as part of a work dinner a vendor took me out to. Speaking for myself, I got the Addisons Burger with sweet potato chips. We both split was is known to be the famous nachos biaco. I must say these are a special kind of nachos if I have ever seen them. Its not like a traditional ballpark or movie theater style nachos, its better, I leave it at that.
The burger is pretty darn good and more then generous in portion. I would have liked a different kind of bun as the one I had seemed dry and tough. The sweet potato chips might be made in house but I could not tell. They taste authentic but compared to a sweet potato fry it did not hold that pow of the real thing.
Prices are well worth what you get and the atmosphere is casual/upscale making for a great after work dinner or gathering for friends after a long work day. -

Columbia, MO
Addison's has pretty average food. They try to put a twist on some things but none of it will blow your mind. Often I find myself trying like hell to actually taste what I'm eating. People seem to love the nachos, which are made with wonton chips, but they're really just a big farty pile if you ask me. The crab rangoon dip is also a local favorite, you will like it if you're in the mood for a face-full of cream cheese. Go for a sandwich here, but not a complicated one - don't push these cooks too hard; they'll mess up your order and then your waitress will be compelled to reluctantly rectify the problem.
If you go here after 9pm, the restaurant exudes the vibe of a tavern more than that of a restaurant -- which is OK sometimes. I've gone here any number of times over the past 8 years or so and I've had at least ten really bad servers.
If you want to feel a little yuppie and get some 'funky' food that still doesn't taste like much in a bar setting, then Addison's is your ticket.
3 Stars because it's a bar with slightly above average bar food. -

Columbia, MO
TWO things stopped me from giving this place 4 stars
(1) service at the bar is slow and leaves a little to be desired. If you are at a table, you will most likely have fine service. and
(2) the food quality might be going down a little...I want to go back once more to be sure though.
The main reason I wanted to write a review is to say this: Order the phyllo-wrapped brownie!! You will not regret it. It might be the best dessert item at any restaurant in CoMo! Do it!
Also, their nachos bianco are great! -

Steamboat Springs, CO
I would really say meh, but I get why some people like it. The atmosphere is cheery and bright. I remember the waitstaff being helpful also. The food was just OK though. Not bad but I just don't suggest it to friends. First time I went I had the Southwest Tortilla Salad and the Mango Mahi Mahi the next. Addison's interior is welcoming and the bar looks like fun so I think there is still reason to at least give it a chance.
On a side note the first time I went there was with a friend from home and he had the Brandy Au Poivre Filet. After the meal he said he'd rather have gone to Booche's again, and he'd been on an aircraft carrier for a few months. -

Santa Cruz, CA
Dishing out upscale American cuisine, this is one of Columbia's best restaurants.
I leave that up to you to decide if that actually means something or not.
Try the red, white, and green (I think it's called that?) - flatbread, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, topped with olive oil/balsamic vinegar. Could be a main course.
I had the salmon with chipotle/corn salsa the first time I came here, and while the corn salsa on top of the fish was pleasantly spicy, the salmon itself lacked flavor. Do not order ocean-caught fish in a landlocked state. -

Chicago, IL
Owned by the same people as Sophia's, but with a slightly different menu, I believe.
This place has great food and is good for large-ish groups (think 10 or 12, but not 30). I've often gone there after shows, around 10 or later, and the service is still good.
Also, the art on the walls is all done by the same (local?) guy, and it's interesting enough to keep anyone's attention long enough to get a conversation going. All tangled legs and people charging all over the place, with very distinct ankle bones. -

Addison's is great for the late night happy hour specials. This was a favorite of my friends and I during our Mizzou days. My reason to come is just to have a glass of wine and enjoy the David Spear paintings on the walls.

Not only is this place great for dinner, it's also awesome for late night snacks and beer.
I recommend the crab rangoon dip, the nachos bianco, or the mediterranean pizza. If you get a meal with a side get the roasted garlic smashed potatoes. I could eat them as a meal. And, if you have room for dessert, I love the phyllo brownie. -

Two things I love about this place is the the artwork and mojito fries. I've always had great service and enjoy coming just to look around at the artwork. The food is pretty good all around but besides the fries there isn't much that I couldn't live without.

I went here once with my wife, and I was very disappointed in the food. The nachos were damn good, but the food itself was extremely boring and flavorless. She loves the place and will definitely go back, but I won't be going with her.
Considering the price I paid for the food I got, I pretty much felt like I'd been robbed.
By the way, I recall already posting a review on this place, yet it seems to have been deleted. This review had better stay put. -

I often forget about Addison's because I'm more focused on Flat Branch, but everything that I've had here has been good. They have excellent cheese fries. I'm not sure what kind of cheese they use -- it might be a mix with some milder white cheeses (it comes so creamy, gooey, and delicious that I want to lick the plate!). They also have a really tasty deconstructed crab rangoon appetizer. Their burgers are superb, too (very juicy and actually came as ordered -- "medium"). The last time we were there, my husband and I shared the special, which was a pork chop encrusted with jalapeno and cheese. Delicious!

I would do almost anything for a plate of Nachos Bianco right now. They are seriously the best nachos I have ever eaten and I crave them often. Thick, rich asiago cheese sauce with fried wonton chips, kalamata olives, your choice of meat, tomatoes, and green onions. (Great, now I'm literally drooling all over my desk.) I always liked going to Addison's when I got off of work waiting tables. They definitely cater to the service crowd late night.....good specials, lots of smoking (after 10), and chill atmosphere.

Ah, my favorite place to eat in Como. I ate here frequently when I went to Mizzou and was never disappointed. The food is great, the prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is excellent for a date or to take your family. One of the few places I miss in that area.
