I'm updating my review for 2 reasons:
1.) Addi has redone his menu to inclue vegetarian and vegan options. Since hubs and I went vegan about 6 months ago, this simple act is A+ in my book. Thank you.
2.) To address Alice C.'s review: Addi's is NOT northern Indian food. Addi, and his staff, hail from the region of Goa, which is on the west coast of India. Secondly, it's simply Chai, not Chai Tea. The vindaloo is authentic Goan-style vindaloo and can be varied in the spicy level.
I'm now salivating thinking about the food. mmmmm1 Previous Review: Show all »

Woah, I must been spoiled.
According to the friends who picked this place is the bomb. Really? I must been spoiled royally.
This is your fancy Indian restaurant, who you will get table clothes and great waiter services. The food, how ever is just okay, if you had great northern Indian food.
The stand out are the tikki masala, but the vindaloo is too thick and not spicy enough; aloo gobi is pretty good. The veggie curry, bland.
They do have kabuli naan, but it is also just okay, the garlic naan is good.
Chai tea is not free.
Service is pretty good, and the place still got filled up on a Sunday night.
Well, my friends are right, good Indian place in LA is really hard to come by. -

I'm with you "sara a." It's a total gem!!!! I've always passed by this place on the way to the pier and wondered how Addi's would be.. but given I was on my way to grub on seafood, it became a fleeting thought.
Last night, I came here to eat with my cousins and was blown away at how great the food and service was. I was so content eating and drinking I almost forgot to save room for dessert. We had their signature orange ice cream. It's not some grocery store-grade ice cream... it's just so awesome you have to order it and see for yourself! -

Impressive restaurant! Nice ambiance, and excellent food. Naan bread was incredible. Recommend making a reservation in advance, as it's a popular spot.

Holy hell why didn't I come here sooner?
Addis was amazing!
The price is great and you get more than enough food. My boyfriend I shared and had more leftover than we ate.
This will probably be our new Sunday night take out. -

I've never really been a fan of Indian fare but the food at Addi's turned me on like a film staring my favorite "actress" Tori Black. Prob could have kicked up the heat a notch or two but next time (and there will be a next time) I'll go with spicy not medium. Other than that I've got nothing but good things to say about Addi's.
As far as the food goes, we ordered 3 items and a side of garlic naan, and had more than enough for 2 people. In fact we left beyond stuffed and had leftovers for the next day.
Mango Lassi - 5/5 - One of my favorite drinks of all time, and Addi's version is great. Could have been a tad colder but I enjoyed every last drop. Also love the fact that they serve it in a huge glass and top it off with a mini beach umbrella. Nice touch!
Garlic Naan - 5/5 - The naan at Addi's is exceptional, if not perfect. Its fluffy with imperfect puffs of air, and is the great with any of their dishes or with the accompanying sauces.
Chicken Tikka Masala - 4/5 - Tender strips of chicken breast and green peppers in a slightly sweet and creamy tomato sauce. I loved the creaminess of this dish and could probably eat it every night.
Aloo Gobhi - 3/5 - Not a big fan of this dish but can see the appeal. It tasted over-spiced but would make a good side if want a little more substance.
Saag Paneer - 5/5 - My favorite dish of the night. Goes great with my naan and also very good on top of rice. Its like creamed spinach, without the heaviness with delicious chunks of cottage cheese. Loved every single bite!
Overall I would say that this place is absolutely delicious, and on top of having amazing Indian food, the service was top notch as well. Also loved the fact that their portions were on the larger side of things, so thank you CK for introducing me to my new favorite South Bay restaurant!

Review from Clara K.
I hadn't had Indian food (in a restaurant -- frozen meals from Trader Joe's don't count, right?) for a long time, so when I found Addi's Tandoor on Yelp, I convinced MC we had to go.
We ordered:
Garlic naan
Chicken Tikka Masala
Aloo Gobhi (cauliflower and potato)
Saag Paneer (spinach with cubes of cottage cheese)
The best dish was definitely the saag paneer. It was perfectly spiced and had great flavor.
I was a little disappointed by the chicken tikka masala and the garlic naan. The CTM was a little too tomato-y and a little too sweet. At times it reminded me of tomato bisque. The chicken was tender though. Next time I might try the chicken makhani. The garlic naan was good in terms of texture, but it had barely any garlic! More garlic, please! I wouldn't order the aloo gobhi again. It was a little too saucy -- I guess I'm used to drier preparations.
Great service but cramped waiting area. I'd recommend making a reservation in advance if possible. Slightly high prices but portions are large so I think it evens out in the end. -

Addi's Tandoor was my first experience with Indian food, and boy was it a good one. I've tried a few different places since, and nothing has lived up to Addi's yet. Everything he was just wonderful, from the naan to the chicken tikka masala and on.
Friendly service, comfortable atmosphere. I hope to eat here again very soon. -

I'm glad other fellow yelpers such as Anthony N. appreciates this place just as much as I do. I went here a couple of weeks ago with the BF. Showed up with a bottle of red wine and everything else was history! It was the weekend after Thanksgiving so the place was not packed and a table was ready for us when we arrived.
The setting is very dim with candles, so make sure your light on your camera is bright! This small restaurant had very traditional Indian decoration. I agree with Anthony N., it wasn't over the top but it wasn't bare either!
On to the FOOD!!!! First of all their portions compared to other Indian places is twice as big. We usually order about three dishes (2 meat, 1 vegetable) at other places. It would be wise to only order two because the portions are so big. That didn't stop us from taking it home and having it for lunch the next day!!!!! 2 meals for the price of 1!!!
Chicken Marsala is nice and milky. The yogurt really brings out the creaminess and soothes the spice level. The chicken was marinated to perfection and was nice and juicy! The garlic naan bread was over the top amazing! A great vehicle for the sauce!!! The lamb curry was surprisingly very flavorful. The flavor was more on the savory and hearty side and the meat was cooked perfectly. I am addicted to their Paneer! It was on my side of the table, so I did not hesitate to grab a huge spoonful for myself!
The waiter was nice enough to give us a complimentary dessert only because we were curious to see how it tasted. It was this carrot pudding, that had a very mild sweetness to it. We loved it! We enjoyed the service so much we tipped the man very well.. and we came back a week later with the parents! hahahaha -

Came here after reading reviews on Yelp and in Zagat, and pretty much what you read is what you get - great Indian dishes that are authentic and really bring the flavors of Indian spices to the forefront.
The dinners are reasonably priced considering how much food you get - dishes come with Dal Makhani (a lentil and Red kidney bean soup), rice, naan, and raita (a sauce similar to tzatziki). And if you're a heat lover like me, you'll be happy to know that they will make the dishes so that you sweat a little, which is always good. -
Review from Susana M.
First let me start off by saying that my past experiences w Indian cuisine have not been good at all, which was why I was a bit skeptical when my girlfriends picked this place for dinner. Regardless, I was willing to give indian food a 3rd chance.
Addi's Tandoor is a place restaurant in Redondo Beach that offers exceptional Indian food ! All the food we ordered had the perfect amount of spices that didnt feel excessive and it also didnt leave you with fear of an upset stomach. We ordered the chicken pakoras as an appetizer - they resemble chicken tenders but w the indian spice and come along with two dipping sauces, one spicy and green and the other tasted like tamarind. The curries we ordered were also delicious - the chicken curry, the beef vindaloo (spicy!), and the chicken madras (tasted like Thai yellow curry). The naan was beyond amazing - we ordered the regular kind as well as the garlic (my favorite).
Overall, Addi's Tandoor left me with a huge smile on my face and willingness to try other Indian restaurants. My standards are pretty high now so lets see what happens!! Im hoping I can find a good place in the Bay Area. -
Review from Toyo K.
Took my Indian friend here last night and she loved the place.
Things we ordered:
Channa Palak - spinach with garbonzo beans. Healthy yet delicious.
Chicken Masala - the best, a creamy texture with just enough ginger
Shrimp Vindaloo - red, tangy, and hot. Ordered it as medium spice, but my napkin was drenched from all of my sweat after eating this
And again, great service. The hostess smiles, and the waiters are genuine and enjoy getting to know you. On a Sunday night, the place was 90% full which is a great sign.
I'm coming back here again soon.

Went here with two coworkers for a weekday lunch. I like the decor. It's not gaudy or pretentious, but clean and nicely set tables. It's quaint and inviting. There were other people but it wasn't packed. The service was helpful and friendly.
Between the three of us, we had the Mixed Tandoori plate, lamb curry (medium), and chicken vindaloo (medium).
Let me explain why we ordered "medium." Hot is relative. For instance, if I go to a Japanese restaurant and order "hot", I get something that mildly warms my mouth. If I go to a Thai restaurant and order "hot", I get something that feels like my mouth has just relocated to hell and someone just took a sledge hammer to my head. So to be on the safe side, whenever I go someplace new, I ask for medium and we'll adjust from there the next time. As for the "medium" here... we'll try "hot" next time.
Everything was delicious. I'm not an expert at Indian cuisine. I just know it was tasty, good portioned, and memorable. The lamb curry was tender and flavorful. The sauce was delicious over the yellow rice or sopped up with the nan.
I recommend this place to any adventurous soul. I actually think it's one of the best in the South Bay. -

This is a small and cute indian restaurant with very good food. The chicken tikka masala was really good and did not taste overly creamy. Also had the shrimp coco, it was a bit strange but not bad. The sauce was spicy and minty. The side of rice portion was HUGE. enough to feed probably 3-5 people. And of course i love love love it when then have the crispy wafer with the tamarind dipping sauce for you to snack on while u wait for your food.
Will definitely visit again! -

Yes... is the best Indian Food in the southbay, I would argue, entirety of Los Angeles. I am in the food service business, I supply the raw goods most Indian restaurants use, I have tried mostly all of them.
CONSISTENTLY the best Indian Food around. End of story.
And yes, naan is too awesome -
Review from Flora H.
I live just a few miles from Addi's but never would have thought to go here if it wasn't for yelp, so, thank you again, yelp, for helping me to find a great restaurant!
It's hard to find Indian restaurants that aren't buffets or take-out type places (not that I have anything against those types of restaurants, but sometimes it's not what you are looking for), so I was happy that this was a sit-down-and-order type place.
We went on a rainy Sunday night so there was hardly anyone there, which was great because we were seated right away and the service was really attentive. I loved that there was a parking lot for the "strip mall" which was a lot nicer than I imagined when I read "strip mall".
Everything that we had was absolutely delicious. You can either order entrees as a full dinner which comes with naan, rice, etc. or you can order a la carte. We decided to order a la carte and do it family style, splitting the Baigan Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, an order of garlic naan, and Peas Pulao (rice with peas). One order of naan comes with two HUGE pieces, which was enough for two people to split and have some leftover. Actually we left with a ton a leftovers.. the portions are quite generous. You can choose the spice level, and based on other reviews I read here, I opted for medium + rather than spicy and it was a good amount of spice. Not too much, so I think spicy might have been okay for me, but I was happy with the medium+.
I am looking forward to having my leftovers for lunch tomorow! -

Called at 5:30pm on a Friday night and made a 7:30pm reservation. They took us in right away even though many others had been waiting. I highly recommend making a reservation even if it's a couple hours before.
First off I saw many Indian people eating there, very good sign :)
Although it took our server a little over 10minutes to greet us and a get our drink order I let it pass.
The ambiance was very nice and lighting perfect.
I had a Kendal Jackson cab which was very good and my boyfriend a King Fisher beer. We started out with some vegetable samosas which were great and some crackers and sauces. The brown sauce was sweet and the green very spicy. Next we had the Chicken Tiki Masala and Saag Paneer with the Garlic Naan and rice. Everything tasted beautifully and I can't wait to go back! They also do take-out if that's your thing. -

Indian food cannot be better! This place has me salivating as I write this. Whenever I go back to visit my parents in the South Bay I make plans to come here for dinner. We let the owner order for us and there was not a single thing that came out from the kitchen that we did not enjoy immensely.

***Addi's is a good and slightly upscale Indian restaurant; it is one of the best non-Japanese restaurants in the South Bay***
Addi's is one of the few impressive restaurants in the South Bay that isn't a Japanese restaurant. Addi's is located in a dingy looking strip mall, but the inside is formal with white table cloth. The white table cloth and subtle Indian music make for an elegant setting, but the decor is a little outdated. Not tacky. Not cheesy. Not really stuffy either. The room is just in need of a makeover.
For lunch, they have a salad bar, which comes with every meal.
The salad bar consisted of mixed greens, iceberg lettuce, kidney beans, red onion, corn, apple salad, and several dressings (such as Italian and Saffron and Rose). While the salad bar was nothing exceptional, everything was crisp and fresh (the apple salad was good as was the saffron and rose dressing).
For our entrees, we had the Chicken Tikka Masala, the Baigan Bharta and the Dal Makhani. The chicken tikka masala was good and it was my favorite of the bunch. The chicken tikka masala consisted of white meat chicken in a tomato and ginger sauce. The chicken in these types of dishes can be chewy and dry, but the chicken was tender here and relatively moist. The sauce was creamy, flavorful and good. We ordered the sauce mild, which still had a fair amount of spice to it. You can also have it prepared medium or hot.
The Baigan Bharta was charbroiled eggplant in an onion and tomato sauce that was mixed with fresh herbs. This dish was very flavorful too and was nicely chunky too with eggplant and peas.
The Dal Makhani was a sauce of lentils, onions and ginger. I was expecting this dish to have a more savory flavor. The flavor was significantly milder than the other sauces we had. It was still good and was served with a generous portion of lentils, but it lacked the intensity and flavor of the other two dishes.
Basmati rice and naan were provided. The basmati rice here was pretty free flowing and good. The naan though was a real standout. Very warm and freshly made. It had a great chew but was still soft; it also had a nice and light crispiness to the edges.
Service was pleasant and polite.
In terms of prices, lunch entrees run in the $10 to $15 range. The portion sizes are big. One dish can really serve two people. Unfortunately, you will be subject to a $5 split charge if you do share an entree (at least the split charge allows both guests to get the salad bar).
Addi's has a strong reputation and while I am not an expert when it comes to Indian food, I find Addi's to be a very satisfying and flavorful Indian restaurant. They use good quality ingredients, showcase strong flavors and definitely make the food fresh, which makes Addi's a good option if you are looking for a slightly upscale but still hearty lunch in the South Bay.
Free parking is available (and easy to find) in the strip mall's parking lot.Listed in: Best Lunch In Torrance

I've been going here for years and can't believe I haven't written a review on this place yet. It's about time!
Lunch is when to go as you get pretty much the same thing for dinner but less expensive plus naan, rice and salad bar. It's a nice deal!
Service is always great. I always order the chicken tikka masala. Oh so tasty and flavorful. I recently tried the spinach curry with potatoes the waiter recommended. wow, that was some tasty curry!

Def a great place to go for Indian food. The naans were perfectly made, slightly crispy on the outside and perfect texture on the inside. They had beef on their menu. Didnt try it but looked good for another visit. We tried lamb vindolu and chicken curry. Both had an excellent balance of spices, salts and texture. Lamb fell apart very easily with min force from naan.

We've been here 3 or 4 times and we always have an excellent meal. Reservations recommended, it's a fairly small space and fills up quickly.
Parking: Free lot.
Ambiance: Strip mall location, but the restaurant is cozy and inviting. Dress is upscale casual.
Service: Friendly and unobtrusive. Our servers at Addi's have always been very helpful!
Food: Dude. Channa Masala. You won't regret it. Also Plain Naan and maybe some Chicken Khorma. And Chicken Pakoras...actually just order everything. If your order a la carte, 1 entree per person is good, plus rice to share. If you tell them to make it "really spicy" they listen, so don't ask unless you truly mean it. :-) -

Went here after a long day of moving. Brian was my server and he was awesome. Very attentive and made great recommendations (including which wine would best pair with my chicken tikka masala). Everything was delicious and the staff was great! By the way, it says ambiance and attire are casual but I would say it's nicer than casual (candle lighting, etc.). Not elegant, but I wouldn't wear jeans. Great ambiance! Great service! Great food!

You won't find better Indian food in the southbay. Trust me, I've tried. I've gone to Tandoor a India in Playa del Rey, hoping to find my palette dancing from all the curry flavors. But, hands down Addi's is my go to place for indian food.
We've ordered from them at least 20 or 30 times now--not once have they screwed up our order--which says a lot these days. Their garlic naan is awesome! Love their basmati rice. Chicken Korma extra spicy--UK London Brick Lane kinda spicey--does the trick for us everytime.
My only complaint is that they don't open up until 5:30. And there's been a few times when we needed to do earlier dinners due to night-time appointments. A slight bummer, but I recognize most people don't eat this early!
If you in the area and looking for GREAT indian food, look no further!!! -

We were on vacation at Redondo Beach and wanting to satisfy our usual Indian food craving ended up here as it was the closest one to our hotel and was rated pretty highly. I have to say it fully justifies its ratings. The staff were very friendly and the food really good. We ordered the Paneer Makhani and the Dal Makhani and this was the best tasting I have ever eaten, including places I have been to in India where I am incidentally from. The portions were also generous enough that we didn't have to worry about breakfast the next day and we were a family of 4.

I was seriously looking forward to trying this restaurant because a co-worker (who is Indian) said it was really good.
We arrived and the place was pretty full, but there were two tables available (one had to be cleared). My husband and I stood at the entrance for a few minutes watching one waiter chat it up with some customers. He finally looked over at us to tell us that it would be a few minutes before they could seat us. We stood around looking at the two empty tables for another 10-15 minutes wondering why we were just standing there. During that time, the waiters did nothing to get our table ready. I was getting seriously annoyed and decided to leave when I saw another waiter refilling glasses of water for the customers who were already seated. What kind of crap is that? What kind of restaurant would think refilling glasses of water is more important than getting customers seated?
I would have liked to give this restaurant one star, but I don't feel it's right to do that without having tasted the food. -

Ok this might be the best indian food I've ever had. Most of the food in southbay is pretty bad. I work in the area and a co worker and I went to get dinner and we ended up here cause she loves indian food. I been here twice already
All I gotta say is the chicken tikki masala is moooooney!!! They also give you some naan ("do you know nan?" lol it's an old school rap song. I always say that to the waiters that serve it).
For a drink make sure you order a mango lassie. Theirs tasted like you are drinking fresh fruit and ice cream. I wanted to drink two of them but didn't want to embarrass myself in front of my co-worker. Places like this make me a believer in southbay food. -

I love indian food, and I think this is a great place. The wait staff are really nice and accommodating. The food is top notch and the atmosphere is nice. Every time I've been there, it has been pretty crowded, so I know they have tons of fans.
We ordered the Chicken Tiki Masala (not too creamy which is good for me, and a good tomato-ish flavor) and a eggplant dish which I thought was really good. And of course Garlic Nan bread. For dessert, we had the carrot pudding which was really FANTASTIC!!!! I'd go back just for the dessert.
I'm going back ... soon. -

Really? 4.5 stars?? I'm always on a quest to try great Indian food, heck it's one of the last meals I'd eat if I were on death row. The only positive things I have to say is that the food tasted fresh with all the ginger that was in there, and the chutneys were fabulous.
Other than that, my curry was not very flavorful in that indian curry sense. Also, the chicken and lamb were really dry. Oh, the grossest part of my lamb curry was that the lamb tasted like canned tuna/chicken. It had that flaky chalky consistency like it was meat that was preserved in some kind of liquid beforehand. GROSS. There were chunks of ginger in all of our dishes (2 curries and 1 tikka masala) and we literally would bite down on bitter pieces of ginger. The sauces were a bit watery and lacked any flavor other than ginger. Or maybe the ginger was overpowering any of the other flavors. Either way, it wasn't enjoyable and sucked real hard as leftovers the next day. My motto is that Indian food is best served as leftovers the next day...not here though. I got a few spoonfuls then it went straight into the trash.
I wish I could say our somosas were enjoyable, but those were really dry and tough to swallow because of it. We had to drown our somosas in chutney for it to glide down our throat. The worst part? We asked for their selection of fresh squeezed juices and they didn't have any!!! We always order pineapple or guava juice and they told us they only had mango lasse. Booooo :( -

I first went to Addi's Tandoor because I wanted to partake in the Indian Food fad. Somewhat nervous of not knowing what to order, we met a very nice waiter names Brian who kindly explained & recommended dishes we LOVED. He also gave us mango lassis on the house for us to try & came to check up on us with a big smile throughout the meal.
After having such a wonderful first experience with Indian food, we went back to Addi's when were craving Indian food (trust me, it was more often than I expected!) & guess what! Brian remembered our name -- both my bf's & mine! Feeling special, we kept going back to Addi's & we can proudly say that we only go to Addi's for Indian food!
Now on to the food... I am no expert on Indian food & I haven't tried too many to compare, but this place is amazing! We've tried varieties of food from chicken & beef dishes to super hot chili peppers. Addi's food is very flavorful & so clean! Although it's quite pricey, I can proudly say that I am hooked on Indian food thanks to Addi's Tandoor!
Also, for such a cozy small restaurant, it is almost always packed! But then again, why wouldn't people love their wonderful service & mouthwatering food? Definitely a neighborhood gem! -

I went out to eat dinner with my bf (and if you notice in all my reviews, I'm usually out eating with my bf ), and we wanted to do an Indian food night, and came here. I'm not Indian nor is my boyfriend so take my review as someone who likes trying new foods.
I'm usually all about the Japanese curry because it's not heavy or strong tasting and also because you can get the curry with pasta. This place's curry was really rich and tasted really good to me. BF said all the curries are full of butter (not sure how true that is but it tasted damn good). I ordered the Chicken tikki Masala and a lamb dish. I'm all for the chicken! The Naan bread was soooo good! I can't say enough how I kept dipping it in the curry. I cleaned out my curry with the bread.
I recall this place also serves vegetarian/ vegan friendly dishes as I was able to recommend this place to a vegan consultant we had at work who later told me their lunch experience was great.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the south bay to go to for a dinner date if you're thinking Indian food. I think our total came to about 50 or so dollars for both of us (with sodas). -

Meh, I've experience wayyyyyy better for way less money. For 4 of us we spent about $100 including tip for food that wasn't nearly as good at Al Watan in Hawthorne.
Mixed Taandori - I was angry at this dish. For $21, I get 2 small pieces of chicken, 3 small prawns, and a chincy portion of that spiced sausage kafta? You get 3 times the portion with 100 times more flavor at Al Watan. Do the math!
Spicy Beef Curry + Garlic Naan - This was my only highlight of the meal. Flavorful and spicy.
Chicken Tikka Masala - On the sweet side.
This meal was a huge MEHHHHHHHHHHHH -

on the downside it was still pretty pricey for lunch... all in all with the upgrade to garlic naan my bill came up to $20.00. Pretty pricey for lunch considering I know Angara down the streeet has a lunch buffet for only $10. Plus the wait time to receive our meal was super long!!! We had about an hour lunch and literally only had like 20 mins left to eat and get back,,, Minus one star. -

Addi's is great. I am mostly a Channa Masala, Aloo Gobi, and chicken curry guy while my mrs generally goes for Palakh Paneer or the occasional Vindaloo. The portions are good, the taste is top notch, and the service is always good.
It is a bit of a price premium so I don't eat here as often as I wish though.
