This review is for Addiction and specifically for my stylist, Anthony.

I came in with long, messy hair and just told him to "do whatever he wanted."  I imagine this may be a frightening prospect to a lot of hairstylists and may make them more conservative.  Nope.  After asking if I was OK with short hair, asymmetry, etc, Anthony just went for it.  And the style I got was AWESOME.  I loved it so much, I took lots of photos so I could ask for it in the future.  Got tons of compliments, too.  Nice work, Addiction, and nice work, Anthony!

I used the Yelp deal from September of 2011 for "$35 for Haircut, Blow-Dry & Style"

I was just writing a scathing review for Addiction salon, but things got resolved so I am calmer now.  I would give 5 stars except for the panic attack that they caused me.

My brazilian looks amazing.  Sami was professional and kind and gave me "post-op" instructions.

My issue was with my google offer and the customer service.  I had bought a google offer for cut and color ($99 for usual $200).  Since buying that deal my hair had been destroyed quality and color wise and by another salon with highlights.  I had to go brown and have 6 inches cut to bring my hair back to normal and allow it to heal.  I e-mailed the owner Ilona with my issue that I had the deal, but no longer wanted cut and color since I wanted to let my hair just be.  I wanted a blowout instead, and remembered that they had a deal that was $150 for $300 dollars worth of blowout or something.  We had an e-mail exchange where she said that while they couldn't offer me that deal, she would do it for $200 instead of $300.  And my offer amount $99 would be applied to that.  I was appreciative that she would make some accommodations to allow me to use the deal.

Everything was hunky dory and I had a fine time with Sami, until I left.  Sami left me a message saying she read the note wrong from the owner, Ilona and had charged me the wrong amount.  Then she left another message saying the Brazilian was really supposed to be $300 and with my offer amount of $99 applied, my balance would be $200, so they were gonna charge my card the $100 extra.  I was PISSED.  I called and Sami had me speak with the owner.  She acknowledged that there was a miscommunication, but would not budge.  She said my offer was for cut and color which was true, but I thought as a good business owner she had offered me the $200 Blowout to allow me to use the deal in some capacity since I had my hair situation.

She finally "budged" a little and said she would just charge my card $50 more, which she felt was fair to each of us.  I was like "whatever" and that was done.  I was writing my scathing review when Sami called and said they would just leave the amount they had charged my card as is.  I know Ilona didn't have to give me any sort of discount b/c my deal was for cut and color, but I thought we had come to a compromise and she helping me by still giving me a discount.

When she said I was wrong, I was thinking 'there was no point to purchasing the coupon'.  I was super regretting buying it.  If she had said before I got there that the brazilian would be the full price, I would not have gotten it.  And you don't call someone and INFORM them that their credit card will be charge $100 more.  And she said she would give it to me for $200 next time, but not this time which didn't make sense to me.

They left a 3rd message saying that they would not charge my credit card more.  I don't know why she changed her mind, but I feel like the right thing to do was to leave the charge as it was.  They made the mistake of charging my card the "wrong" amount and they could've just called and said "oh, btw, we hope you liked your services, just so you know, the amount we charged was incorrect so you know for the future".

So basically I was appreciative that they could make accommodations for me to use my coupon, but was unhappy in the way I was communicated with following the blowout.  It just really rubbed me the wrong way, and I feel like better customer service would bring me back.  If it hadn't been resolved I would've thrown a real sh*t fit on here.

I was in dire need of a GOOD haircut, fast, and didn't want to spend up the booty like I would at most salons in SF, so I found a deal on bloomspot for $40 for a haircut. Perfect. I called and talked to Anthony, who was able to schedule me for the next day.

I got there early and Anthony was the only one there just finishing up with his client. He was automatically super attentive and made me feel very comfortable. The place is very cozy and I could see if everyone was there how it could be a little crowded feeling.. but lucky for me it was just the two of us.

Anthony was great and could see I was in real need of a haircut. A lot of my hair was dead at the ends, and my last haircut left me with uneven bangs, and he was able to see all of that right away. I basically told him to keep it longer and easy to maintain but to do whatever he thought would be best. He was super sweet, and extremely funny.

When it came to the cut, it was perfect. He even took the time to straighten it for me because the next day was my birthday and he wanted me to look fabulous. It honestly hasn't been this short in quite some time though and that had me a little worried.. so I waited a week to do this review to see what it would look like when I washed and styled it myself.. because lets be honest, it never looks as good. But its been really easy for me to both straighten and curl it into a style I'm happy with.. which is awesome because normally when its shorter its difficult for me to maintain.

Overall, I would definitely come back (and yes, even paying $40 more than I did this time around) .. because ultimately you get what you pay for, and you'll only feel as good as you look, and I felt like a million bucks coming out of there.

Thanks Anthony! (Told you you'd get a yelp review - and you didn't put the smackdown on so you got a good one ;))

Addiction is a great, unpretentious place for anyone's style, male or female, with a friendly, fun and creative staff.  The owner appreciates your business even if you are not her direct client so it is always a welcoming spot to turn new friends when they are looking for something new.

I got referred to Sergei by my friend Sean and usually i'm terrified to go to a new person, i have a mohawk and i suppose that can be a pretty difficult style to cut properly. I had very little fear going to Sergei for the first time though since Sean's hair cut looked absolutely amazing. I must say my mohawk has NEVER LOOKED BETTER! I am so happy with what he did! he wasnt afraid to add just the right amount of texture. The whole experience was GREAT! Everyone in the salon was so much fun to hang out with! Sergei's confidence and awesome attitude made it fun and i knew i was going to walk out with the perfect hair cut the minute he started. I'll definitely be coming back to Sergei and i will refer all of my friends as well! he has a very wide skill range... i'm a tattoo artist with a mohawk and my friend Sean has a conservative sales job.. we have very opposite styles but Sergei did an AMAZING job on both! worth every penny and then some!!

I got a yelp deal for this place for my mom. She was all excited to get her hair cut. She's not exceptionally picky or anything either.
Thing is, she booked the appointment with the owner (a woman, from what I understand) and was assured she would be doing the do on my mom. When my mom got there, there was some OBVIOUSLY novice dude who wound up cutting my mom's hair after all. Um, not so much guy.  He didn't do an amazing job on cutting her hair, and made no effort whatsoever to style it.
She got home pissed and crying.
She would never have the heart to tell the people though, so I had to go to my girl (who is awesome, btw) to have her fix it. :) Alas, things are better now, but I will never go here, my mom will never come back, and I wouldn't recommend it just for those reasons.
    A) Do what you say you're gonna do.
    B) Get people with experience, or help them out, man.

Ilona & her salon are still amazing.

They have this yelp deal right now - if you show them that you checked in here, you get I think 10% off.  Nice.

They were kind enough to fit me in same day during the busy holiday season for a cut AND color...again! And as i had expected from last time, i was blown away. Ilona is still incredibly talented. Her front desk girl....Jordan? oh dear i forgot her name. Anyway, she was so sweet & helpful. They're very knowledgeable about scalp care as well. Recommended something to use during the winter when my scalp goes nuts and sheds nonstop, and I LOVE it.

They even got me out in time to take a nap before work!  I'm addicted!!!

I loved Emily when I started going here, but then she left to travel the country. :(

After bouncing around to other salons, I returned with a voucher to get my hair cut  by Ilona - best and fastest haircut I've ever had.  I think that I was shampooed, cut and blow-dried within 30 minutes - AND was very happy with my haircut.  Since I'm not one of those people who enjoys being in the stylist's chair for a while, this was perfect for me.

I am not one to want to damage or hurt anyone's business reputation. And fought with myself long and hard when deciding if I should write this review or not for ethical reasons. Finally decided for the sake of justice and my own peace of mind it's the least I owe myself.

I am a natural brunette and have paid thousands and thousands of dollars turning my naturally brown hair blonde. Finally after a long struggle for two years I had a achieved a solid all over blonde color (for all the natural brunettes you know how long of a process in time and mmoney this can be) well I had everything well balanced except my roots ,and my hair underneath. It was a struggle for me finding a salon to match my roots to the rest of my hair without them being an obvious orange.

I found additiction from a client on the street I saw and she reccomeneded elona.
We had a consulation and I told her my ultimate goal was to be a well balanced blonde.
The day of the appointment came. She bleached and toned my roots, and then suggested to add lowlights so it wouldn't be so extreme when it grew out. I agreed (thinking she understood in the back of her mind that my goal was to be  BLONDE (now I understand the goal was to upsell me). After my hair got washed I noticed most of my hair was dark brown, and my roots remained the only thing to be blonde. I panicked.

She assured me it just looked dark and that I would be happy.

As she continued to dry it I realized I am no longer blonde but more of a skunk brown.

I told her I didn't like it, automatically she got outraged and took me outide to look at it in the sunlight
"what do you want me to do she says your hair is already fried"( with aggression and attitude)come back later for highlights.
I am from Los Angeles and have never have experienced a salon reacting this way. I mean, say sorry, ill fix it and call it day!

But no she says I AM A STYLIST with outrage and tells me I owe her $300 for a keratin treatment I never requested and a hair color I hated. I refused to pay the sum and she told me never to come back that she doesn't want a client like this. And smugly declares "when it grows out and gets lighter try and find someone to match it, (implying the joy she feels from the hard time I was going to have).

My grandma is a teacher at beauty school and when I came home couldn't believe what was on my head. I spent the next two weeks crying my eyes out, I called 5 salons all of which told me to wash it with Prell and detergent. I have been washing my hair with Palmolive every two days and doing protein treatments to keep it a float before I can fix it. People at work even asking "what happened to your hair"
Currently underneath it's a dark brown the mid head, a grayish brown, and the roots a fried odd colored  ash blonde. I will spend much time and money trying to correct this.

No one should be able to treat their clientele this way no matter how high end they think their salon is. Customer Service is essential to any organization, the company I work for makes sure any unhappy client is taken care of, and any normal organization would, after all it's we who pay you for a service. Never forget.

Believe me, my hair is more upset than I am.

You can trust Anthony - even if he's never cut your hair.

I was 30 minutes late for my appointment b/c of the Oracle World event downtown and he still let me keep my appointment even though it was an hour before closing.  He was still friendly and did a great job with my hair - very precise and proud of his work.  I went in not quite knowing what I wanted, just that I was sick of my long hair and wanted to cut a few inches off.  He was patient and did a great job.

Salon is close to where I live and parking is easy to find, so I'm definitely inclined to go back. Small space but friendly staff. Thank you Anthony!!

Ilona knows hair! That's a simple fact.

I have been to the pricey places people, and let me tell you, you will not get the amount of attention and care like Ilona offers you.

My first time was on a groupon certificate, still on my journey to finding the ultimate San Francisco hair guru and I found her right here at Addiction Salon! Ilona takes real pride in her work and after one visit you will see why.
I've got really thick, wavy (sometimes unmanageable) hair and Ilona inspected/evaluated my hair and told me which style would suit me best. She wet cut and also, even did a dry point cut. Seriously! How many stylist do you know dry cut your hair? My cut was not only trendy but it grew out beautifully as well -  I didn't have to go back for like a year! And when I did go back I was surprised that she still remembered me - gave me a great color and cut all while sipping on my lovely green tea!

She's the one hair stylist I trust to say "Do whatever you want"
I will be making an appointment very soon!

    Just GO!

Thanks to the Yelp deal I got an appointment with Anthony.

The place is small but somehow very inviting.  It must be the wood and the drinks they serve you.  (Choose the wine!)

Anthony was very honest about the sad state my hair was in.  It was frizzy and had several months of split ends and abuse to cut off.  He did a dry hair cut on me.  This is radical, usually stylists wet my hair or wash it before cutting.  Anthony did the opposite.  Once again I was fighting sleep because haircut noises and scissor snips just seem to relax me that much.

I had fears that my haircut would be cut into some crazy looking shoulder length bob.  Fears did subside though.  He left just enough weight in my hair to keep it from going all over the place.  My hair would officially be past shoulder length, but the waves and curls I naturally have made my hair look like an effortless beach look.

After shampoo and style I looked like a news anchor ready for broadcast.  Not in the "OMG eeeew talk-show host Martha Stewart mom haircut'" way.  But in the "my hair shows absolutely no flyaways, just like Oprah's."

Going back for sure to try the color service and other treatments of this place.  I have to be fair to all the stylists after all =D

    10/6/2011 Purchased a Yelp Deal

So, I bought the yelp deal ($35 for a haircut)...such a great deal! And, I was on a budget wanting to get a trim. But, then later decided I needed a drastic change. I have long naturally colored dark brown hair...almost all one length. I decided I wanted bangs, shorter hair with long layers and more volume and texture, a complete new style.

My appointment was with Anthony, and I was a little nervous to go ahead with the bangs since I had never had a haircut by him. But, I let go and just allowed him to do his thing, trusting the whole process along the way. It was a nice experience all around. The salon was nice, the staff was friendly, it's a cute place with good music and a comfortable feel. There's plenty of street parking which was super nice. And, I was asked if I wanted anything to drink as well.

Anthony was pleasant and easy to talk to, and I felt a genuineness about him that was refreshing. I explained to him the look I was hoping for, and I prayed that he really understood me. While the trimming and cutting was going on, I was just trusting that it would turn out decent and I would be somewhat happy with my new bangs. Bangs for me are a tricky thing, and sometimes (most of the time) they don't really come out the way you want (at least in my experience).

Anthony dry cut my hair, then washed it and styled it with a round brush. He spent a good amount of time cutting my hair, and finishing the details and extra touches. I already could tell I might like the bangs once my hair got cut, but I really noticed that they were cute when my hair was wet. Once my hair was getting styled I could see how they were going to look, and I could tell I was going to like them. YAY! Success! I was happy, and at least I wasn't regretting that they were a terribly bad mistake.

Once the hair was styled and dry, it really looked so cute. I was pretty happy with the outcome and I thanked Anthony for doing such a fine job on me. He really got what I had explained to him, and created the look I was going for. I even went and visited a good friend after, and she loved it. But, what really made the whole cut great was the day after. I woke up and my hair looked perfect, totally stylish and super duper cute!

I went to work and I couldn't believe the response I got from everyone, men, women, gay men...all of them LOVED it! The looks on their faces too confirmed it, it was priceless. I mean, they really loved the cut so much, they weren't "just saying it to be nice". So, that validated the cut for me, and boosted my self-confidence to a whole new level. Thank you so much Anthony for listening to me, giving me what I was looking for AND even more, and creating such a beautiful look for me that was subtle enough, yet simple, edgy, sassy and funky. It totally fits my personality, and I absolutely L-O-V-E it soooo much. Thank you, thank you, thank you darlin!

I had bought the Yelp deal for  (great purchase btw- saved $40) and decided to use it on my sister. She was visiting from out of town and I thought it'd be nice to treat her to a fresh new hair cut since she was also so brave in having recently taken the grueling GRE.

We were punctual and was greeted by Chloe, who immediately asked us if we wanted tea, water or wine. The place was cute with four salon stations and since I'm a bit OCD, I noticed that all their products and magazines were neatly stacked and organized. Also, even though I wasn't the one getting my hair done, all the staff in the salon made friendly conversation to keep me company.

Ilona, the owner, was incredibly friendly and listened to what my sister wanted as her new look. Anthony washed her hair (later blow dried it as well) and I noticed that they had a wonderful conversation. The cutting of the hair didn't take long and the outcome was beautiful. I know I'm a bit bias because it's my sister...she'll always be gorgeous no-matter what but her hair flowed nicely, with volume but not too much and her new bangs were the perfect length and framed her face nicely. The products they used smelled nice and overall, my sister was super satisfied with the way her new do turned out.

Not that it's really a secret anymore but basically, my sister was my guinea pig...Whahahahahha (evil but not so evil laugh). Now, I am confident in setting up an appointment for myself. Let's see what my update will be when I go in to get a color too.

This place is super cute and the service is excellent! I had a Yelp deal and received a haircut and blow-dry from Anthony. Some background info, I hate hate hate getting my haircut or any other kind of salon or beauty treatment, especially where I have to be touched by a stranger and/or make small talk. With Anthony, this was no problem. He cut my hair quick and expertly. The blow-dry was also over in a flash! The small talk was neither strained or awkward. It was the best experience and I will definitely go back. Oh, and my hair looks very healthy now! I am sure that soon there will be a months' long waiting list to get into Addiction. Go now while you still can!

Love this little spot tucked away amidst the industrial-ish part of the mission. Slightly disappointed to have to wait for over a half hour when I rushed to get there minutes after my appointment time. Besides that, I was also not offered wine while I waited. Later to find that another guest was served while I stepped outside for a minute to take a phone call. After asking how she got the glass of wine, I was then offered by the owner.

You would think that I would give this salon one star, but after Anthony sweetly gave me a stellar hair cut and apologized profusely, I would definitely go back. Plus, the wine was delicious!

More of a Meh.  I bet if you went to others there it would be fine, but the poor boy hadn't a clue. . . just barely getting by really.  I certainly don't believe he has had many years of experience, but sure played it up like he had, even said he did when I asked.  Straight B.S.  I mean, even the owner reviewed/critiqued (and fixed minor details) his work after he was finished.  My hair wasn't horrible, but it was not what I wanted at all - oh well, get what you pay for right (Yelp Dealio).   I am in the business and could blatantly tell that he didn't have experience. . .so shaky/nervous and the way he held  the equipment was comical, he even burnt his hands on the blow dryer.  I don't want to be mean, he was very sweet, but it's the truth.

I had a really great experience here, and the stylist, Anthony, did exactly what I wanted! I usually go for a dramatic change when I go to the salon, but this time I wanted a simple clean up with my untamed-for-4-months hair. I used to go to places where they would just go scissor crazy and chop more off than I want to, but Anthony gave me shape to my long hair (I want it to be long) and he truly kept the length I wanted. I was very very happy with the haircut, and I loved how awesome the treatment was (even though I was just a Yelp deal and not a full paying customer). In the end I even had trouble with redeeming my yelp deal because I wasn't sent a confirmation number, but they let me go on good faith I was telling the truth (which I was) and did not give any attitude over it at all. They were sweethearts. I offered to leave my credit card number too but they said it was OK. Needless to say a 20% tip was given (of course)! Oo major plus on the glass of complimentary vino ;)

Im just giving them 4 stars because I think they could do more to show off their location (I passed it twice before finding it). Besides that, truly awesome place I highly recommend!

The place was little bit too small to have three customers and 3 stylists. The neighborhood was nice and quiet.
I have short-medium hair. The haircut was not bad, but not inspiring enough to make me go back. The hair stylists were friendly; they were very casual and frank.
I will keep looking for better stylists.

Ok, you know what, it's been three weeks since my haircut here and I'll just say it: I officially hate my hair.

I thought it was nice that she put in short layers on the underside so I could get more volume without having awkward short hairs on my crown, but... man, i guess good intentions don't necessarily reap good results. My layers (actually, more like my one layer now.. eww. so lame) look like a BLOCK. A freakin block. Ugly block hair. Gross gross gross. I wonder why this happened?? I knew it wasn't gorgeous when I left the salon (and my hair felt kinda nasty, too), but I didn't think it would be this bad. I didn't think my split ends would get worse, either. They look like human nerves, or bare winter tree branches... very elaborate split ends I have now... oh goody -.-

They say the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is two weeks. Well, it's been 3 weeks and I'm kinda getting more annoyed and disgusted by my ugly block hair cut as time passes. Can't wait to get this fixed by someone else. -.-

P.S. How can you charge me the highest price for a partial highlight when you had only a quarter of my head to work with?? ... and on the nape of my neck?!? That's pretty shady. I understand you need to make money, but seriously, there really wasn't that much work to be done, and you still charged me the highest price. Mean mean mean.

Good bye, Addiction Salon. I am not addicted to you. In fact, I will stay far, far away from you and never come back. You cut my hair with the one thing that should never touch my locks (a dry razor) and gave my the ugliest block-headed trim (a trim! Come on, how do you botch a trim?!?!!), making my layers drop right where I hate them to be (along my jawline). Never in my life did I think I would be walking around with layers that are parallel to the ground, completely horizontal. I am so not addicted to this look. No, not at all.  X(

I came here for a cut with Emily because I got a nice coupon from Social Buy. It's not really in a busy part of town, so parking is pretty easy and it's just a few blocks from the freeway.

The place is cute and they have lots of good magazines for you to read if you show up early. I had a good experience and like my haircut - although I do wish that I had gone a little shorter all around. I also really liked the fact that Emily wrote me an email today to check in and see if I was enjoying my cut - excellent customer service!

Minus 1 star because I saw that someone else had a glass of wine so I was really excited thinking that I was going to get to sip on some alcohol while getting my hair cut...but I didn't get the offer =P. Although I think that she knew the stylist because she later washed the stylist's hair while waiting for her own color to set in.

Ilona gave me an awesome haircut today. She is quite skilled--a scissor wizard in fact. She had on a pouch with god knows what all kinds of cutting implements and she used techniques I've never seen before in 30 years of getting my hair cut. The salon is very pleasant, hip, and clean. It's stocked with magazines, candles in the bathroom and coffee! I highly recommend giving it a try!

i came here after buying a deal from Yelp and it was such a good deal.  Anthony gave me an awesome haircut and styled my hair for the evening night out.  He spent a lot of time with me and was not rushed.  They offered us drinks and were all so friendly!

Came here a few weeks ago when I was in town for a wedding and wanted to treat myself to a fancy up-do. Found this salon through Yelp and decided to give it a try. Glad I did! Ellona did a fantastic job on my fancy ponytail - all I did was bring a pic of the style on Mila Kunis and she made it look great and even more fancy! Very friendly, cute space, lots of parking. Would definitely come back if I'm back in town and in need of a style.

Ilona wrote me and felt bad about the situation. I like her so I'll give her another shot! I'll update my review when that happens.

    ----------------------------------

    Dear Ilona,

I think you're a super nice person but I feel like this feedback is warranted.

I got a decent hair cut and was pretty happy with it. I wasn't happy with the non-focused part of your haircut style. In the middle of the haircut your neighbors(?) came down and you chatted for approx 10 minutes while I sat there. For the 60 bucks I was spending there, that shouldn't happen. I wasn't very happy about so I won't be coming back.

    Sincerely,
    MStop

Ilona has been my hairstylist for longer than I can believe. I was her first customer straight out of beauty school and have been with her ever since. Come to think of it, it's the longest relationship I've ever had...ha!

Now she has her own salon - Addiction. A visit to Addiction is a habit worth forming if you want gorgeous hair and the latest looks. Addiction is always ahead of the trends yet offers a relaxed, laid back atmosphere with touches of sophistication like rotating artwork and gratis wine and cappuccino.  Ilona will work with you if you have a specific look in mind, but is gifted at coming up with a brand new do for you when you are ready to switch it up.

Get hooked at Addiction - it's a beautiful vice.

I came here because it was very close to where I used to work. I waited way too long to get a haircut and needed it cut BADLY. I was able to make an appointment same day, I think it was for 3:30 or 4.

I came in a little early and the woman I was there to see (can't remember her name) had fallen behind, which is happens. I wait maybe an extra 10-15 min past my appointment time and she has another person take over her cut while she washed out my hair. She's super nice and puts on a leave in conditioner so she can finish her cut. Fine with me, just means I get a free conditioning!

It takes maybe another 10-15 min til she's done with the other girl and then I get rinsed and the cutting can begin. I have weird curly/wavy hair that doesn't react well to being cut. I've had many a traumatizing hair cut so I just told her I wanted a few inches off and my bangs needed a trim badly. She said that she specialized in curly hair and knew a way to cut it that would be flattering. I agreed.

Her friend came by and while she was cutting my hair she offered her a cut as well. She started chopping off a lot of hair. After she had semi finished cutting my hair, she put me in that creepy air drying chair so she could cut her friends hair. She cut her friends hair and I probably had to wait 20 min for her to finish.

By the time I came out I was a huge poofball. I've NEVER seen my hair look like that. It reminded me of when my mom would get these horrible perms. She trimmed my bangs and had me pay. Pay $140. That's with a 15% discount for making me wait. The entire experience took about 2.5 hours. That's a long time for just a hair cut, imo. I paid., waited a week, still hated it. I've waited a month now and I still feel like my hair hasn't recovered.

She did tell me when I left that if I didn't like the cut the next day I could come back and she could fix it. But she cut a lot of my hair off and it seems kind of silly to go back so she can cut more of it off, so I'm just waiting for it to grow. I probably should have told her, "This isn't what I want," while I was at the salon but after working all day and then going there and waiting and waiting, I had pretty much checked out.

I'm sure the other people here are just lovely, maybe I just got this girl on a bad day, but I won't go back. I've also changed jobs so it's no longer convenient.

UPDATE 6/11/08:  It DOES grow back after all...and it was Calm Cindy that walked out of Addiction this past weekend.
I expected things to be tense, and it was (well, shit, I called her a bitch). But my stylist was uber-professional about it, and agreed this was a new day, new cut. She texturized and thinned out the main of hair I have going down the back, making it fall much less tragically. And we had clear communication this time on what look I was going for with the stupid bangs - she made fair suggestions and it looks great.
I don't regret going back for 2nds and will be back again.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer June of this year, and I came in again to see Courtney and told her that I'd be going through some major hair changes.

About two weeks ago she gave me a short hair cut and it looked really great: very Audrey Hepburn-ish. And, I've been used to having my hair long and, it's wavy.

However, since Thursday my hair had been increasingly been shedding and finally yesterday: Hair was everywhere and I was losing it on the top.

I popped by to see if Courtney was around and she was with a client. However, since she knew that I was going through chemo--she took some time to ask what I needed.

(I also thought it was cool that her client who was currently serving was so understanding--thank you other woman!)

Anyhow, without trying to cry, I said, "It's falling out." I had such a sad frown.

She said, "Oh." Then, I gestured a shave over my head.

"I can fit you in after I do my client here, would you like that? And, then, I'll have to rush off because I'm picking up (so and so) from the airport."

"Okay!" And, so my partner and I got back home and dusted off her favorite beanie.

Her client has just left--she walked out so elegantly. Courtney, inside was ready for me.

She shaved it all off. She has the tendency to notice how the body, medical conditions, life style habits and even nutrition can shape someone's hair. She's observant and noticed where my hair was shedding. She recommended some products for my bald head, and advised on a low residue, no sulphur shampoo. I mean, she very astute and hey, I'm even telling my oncologist about her.

She didn't even charge me for the "chemo" shave.  How super cool is she?

Courtney is going to leave Addiction to start up her new salon, however, I will use some of the services there after chemo ends. For example, the really nice owner of the salon does some laser hair treatments to stimulate growth--as advised from Courtney. The owner is specialized in that area and has the certification so, I'll visit Addiction when the time's right.

It was and still is a great salon: supportive and understanding staff. But, most of all, I'll miss Courtney there.

Sharing info on fabu stylists is hairdo harakiri, lest you never get in to see your girl again, ever. But I owe her one for hooking me up - so here it goes.

Like Edward Scissorhands (but without the freaky makeup and sheepish demeanor,) Isadora went to work on my hair and worked some magic on my locks. I showed her two pics of what I wanted and she said.. no worries I've got it, let's do this. And then she did it. Just like that.

    Hot damn.

Not to mention the fact that her adorable studio is easy to get to and there's plenty of parking - which you have to love if you are having your hair colored and  plan on staying a while.

I think I am in love. And I promise to be faithful.

    Hugs and kisses,

    Stephanie

I had a great experience at this salon! Super friendly customer service, beautiful salon and delicious cappuccinos! I didn't have to wait to be seen and was promptly offered a beverage and made to feel welcome.

Anthony was my stylist and was I love my cut! He took time consulting with me before he touched my hair, and was very attentive throughout the whole visit. He's got a great eye and gave me a beautiful cut with lots of volume and layers. He styled it with big bouncy curls and I left a happy girl. Would definitely recommend this spot!

Ashely is mah girl here.....Yes, I'm in an open hair relationship; meaning sometimes I see Sonja, sometimes I see my Asian man in Oakland China town.

Ashley is a total sweetie, I followed her here from another Salon in the area.  She's no nonsense and does nice layers to make my very fine straight hair look exciting with the help of layers and texture.

Location wise, it's convenient, in the ground floor commercial space of a block of condos, and they specialize in Redken products.  I wish they were more into 'natural' products.

Very happy with my haircut. Ilona took one look @ me and knew what to do...

Everyone has an opinion on what to do with curly hair, but most are wrong. She was right!

Very efficient, affordably priced for SF, and convenient (parking right in front!).
