So good, they inspired me to write my first Yelp review. Seriously.
I had an issue with my G.E. fridge and, after explaining the problem with someone I knew, discovered it was a PCB board that needed to be replaced. The first company I called gave me a quote. After reading reviews, I gave Adams a call-- and got a quote for $150 LESS! I booked the appointment (which was able to happen same day, within 3 hours no less) and the repair person worked efficiently, was very polite and friendly, and even found a broom so he could sweep up behind the fridge while I went to get payment.
Cheapest price, phenomenal service, all-in-all as pleasant as fixing a broken appliance could possibly be! Their record on Yelp is flawless for a reason. -

I have used Adams Refrigeration for my cafe since my former repair guy left the business. I found Joel as a recommendation from a business neighbor and have been thankful ever since.
Fair, honest, dependable and knowledgeable. I can't think of anything lacking.
And when I need service ( which is almost always an emergency that could get real expensive in terms of perishable food) Joel always manages to fit me in. -

Reliable, dependable, honest, fairly priced, and down to earth...what more could you want from a repair man? Joel came out the next day and was on time. He diagnosed the problem with my GE Monogram fridge (piece of junk), and had it fixed within 30 mins. The service call cost a song and a dance at only $45, compared to at least $125 elsewhere; labor was around $25 cash; and parts cost sounded fair to me.
I had the heating coils replaced via a GE service call a year ago and they charged me about $400; Joel would have charged me only $175. NEVER call the manufacturer for a service call again. It's like taking your car to the dealer to get it serviced. He also does heating repair so he's definitely been added on my phone contact. Highly recommended! -

I recently turned on the central air and noticed a rather loud noise from the furnace. So I researched a few places on Angie's List and asked a few friends for a referral. A trusted friend who runs a few bars in the city told me about Joel, who does work for him from time to time. So I gave him a call to set up an appointment. He came over a few days later. He diagnosed the problem to a faulty wheel in the furnace's blower. He didn't have the part on him, but scheduled another time to come over the next day to replace it. It works even better than when it was new. He gave me a much better built wheel than the one that Goodman originally had. It now runs much quieter.
All told, parts & labor were $140 and the service call was $44, totally $184. I can't imagine anyone else being cheaper for the quality he provided.
I will definitely call Joel in the future in I have any issues with my HVAC or Refrigeration. I took comfort in his honesty, knowledge and experience in the business. -

Our fridge had stopped cooling as it should so I went to yelp to check local repair reviews. Called Adams after seeing all of the five star reviews.
They were all dead on. Great service. Quick, professional and very reasonably priced. Called on Monday afternoon, they came out Tuesday and were able to accommodate my work schedule by coming in the evening. Joel showed up exactly when he said he would. Had the problem diagnosed and fixed in 45 min, for a total bill of $100. Will not call anyone else but Adams for these types of problems in the future. -

This is the first time I called Adams and boy was it a great decision. Joel is simply wonderful, it was on time, professional, knowledgeable and is dressed for the job. It's true that he has stuff in his van that can fix most things within his first visit.
He is honest, dependable and knows his stuff. I interview people and hire a lot of people for a living and when I see a SMART but humble man I can can spot this well. It not because I am really good at it but because the other do the job for me.
If you have a problem with your unit do call Adams. He will get the job done for you. BTW this is the first person I have given a 5 star to. -

I called Joe this morning because my refrigerator hasn't been cooling for the past week. After several attempts to fix it myself I knew it was time to call the expert. Joe came over last year to fix my refrigerator for a similar problem and he was great so I called him again. I called around 7am Monday morning. He called me back right away and said he could come over late morning. He was right on time and fixed it under 20 minutes! When he was finished he rushed out and told me no charge! I was shocked and grateful! He said no problem and to call him if it doesn't cool down within 24 hours. I didn't have time to tip him but will be sure to mail it to him!

Adams Refrigeration is run the way a service-based business should be.
As I was about to leave for work Thursday I realized my refrigerator and freezer were not blowing out cold air. Being in a rush that morning, I let it be. When I got home later that night it was clear the fridge was broken and everything inside would soon go to waste. It was around 9pm, and I figured I would try call Adams and leave a message for a service call the next day after seeing the many positive reviews on Yelp. Instead, Joel immediately answered the phone. I couldn't believe it. After a brief explanation of the problem, he arrived 45 minutes later. He instantly diagnosed the issue (a circuit board had blown), had the part in his truck and the fridge was working in less than an hour. He warrantied the part for 1 year and even cleaned the coils beneath the refrigerator without me asking.
This is an honest, conscientious guy with 30 years of experience. He cares about customer satisfaction and provides incredible service. He doesn't cut corners or take advantage of unknowing customers like so many in the industry. Joel deserves all the praise he gets on Yelp and has earned himself a lifelong customer. -

Joel is amazing! Imagine coming home from a 2 week business trip to find your fridge is out and whoo the contents are growing legs and throwing a party. Joel was there within the hour and had the issue fixed within 30 minutes. Cleaned up, did some routine maintenance, and gave some insider tips to keep the unit in top shape moving forward.
Joel turned a sour experience into something very pleasant. He is affable amusing, and keeps you entertained while he cheerily goes about his business. Almost makes you wish your fridge conked out more often. -

The best repair company of refrigerators in the city! I originally had an appointment with Sears Home Repair and they never showed up but claimed they did.
I found Adams Refrigeration through Yelp and was not disappointed. Joel is the best and the prices are pretty inexpensive. Joel came within 10 minutes of my call! He diagnosed my problem and did not try to upsell me on any unnecessary parts!
If you need your refrigerator fixed, Adams Refrigeration is the best that it gets! -

I can't recommend Adams Refrigeration enough. I woke up to a pond of water around my 5 year old fridge. I called the manufacturer, and they referred me to a couple of "authorized" service reps. Both of which were completely uninterested over the phone, and wanted a prepaid $65-$70 service call fee, and couldn't give any guarantee that it would be fixed. Meaning they'd show up Friday, and who knows if they'd have the parts. Not out of line, but I had time, so I decided to call around.
A few calls later, I found Adams Refrigeration. A quick call around 10am and he was at my door at 1pm. He diagnosed the problem, and had parts in his truck. Done. He also gave me a couple of tips if it goes down again.
Friendly, fast & inexpensive. Call Adams first. -

I have a rental unit in Ravenswood, and my tenant came home one day to find the fridge less than cold and the freezer mostly defrosted. I told my tenant to call Adams Refrigeration, and they came out within a day or two! He serviced the fridge and needed to replace a few parts (which he had on hand), and was done pretty quickly, and the cost of the service and repair was extremely reasonable.
About a week later, my tenant told me again that the fridge was not working, so he called Adams again. They came out promptly, and made a very easy fix to correct the situation - and they did not even charge for coming out that second time.
Adams Refrigeration will definitely be my go-to fridge repair place in the city, and I would recommend them to anyone! -

I hardly ever write reviews, but Joel was terrific. I called after reading the other reviews, and they were all correct. It was a Friday night at about 9:00 and my refrigerator seemed to quit working. It did seem to come back on, but something was still off so I called. I was hoping someone could come over the weekend before everything in my freezer was ruined. He came 20 minutes later at 9:30 on a Friday night. He took everything part and tested and cleaned everything. Then he didn't think my door was closing correctly so he took it off, rehung it and put a new piece on the bottom of it. He kept checking everything to make sure it was working well and talked to me about what he was doing.
The total charge was $75 which I thought was reasonable. I was quite impressed by how quickly he came over and how thorough he was. Great service!! -

I can't think of any business that I deal with that more deserves a five star rating than Adams Refrigeration. I had two experiences with Joel, and he always answers his calls and responds to messages as promised. Both times, he came out as early as his schedule allows, and resolved the issues quickly at a very reasonable price. He is honest, friendly and knows his stuff - and most importantly, he is a good person and really cares about people that serves. I overheard his phone conversation while he was wrapping up at my place, he was going to his next appointment at 9 pm, so that his customer will have heat overnight. What an amazing customer service!

Let me add my 5-star to the pile -- refrigerator died Saturday night, called Monday morning, Joel shows up 2 hours later and fixes it. $44 for the call, $27 for the part and $30 for labor, and it's up and running again. Only wish I called yesterday, who knows, he might've come over on a Sunday and saved the food I lost...but who knew it could be so hassle-free?
Cleaned the vents, gave us some maintenance tips, even offered to sweep up the dust 'n junk from under the fridge if we had a dustpan on hand. I'm happy. -

New homeowner and just moved in to have the refrigerator not work properly. The freezer was fine but the fridge didn't cool down. Called Adams Refrigeration and they were able to come out same day! SAME DAY! That's unheard of. Joel was absolutely wonderful, pinpointed the problem, and explained the solution. He knew exactly what it was when he saw the make and model of the refrigerator (guess it's a common theme). So far everything is working again and I couldn't be happier.
Best customer service and awesome repair man. You will not find this anywhere else. -

Awesome service!! Wonderful guy! Called him on Friday at 4pm about my old fridge which wasn't cooling. He called me back and was at my house by 7:30 diagnosed the problem in about fives minutes under an hour later he was done and I was in business. Great prices too way better than Sears or other companies. Honest guy great service great pricing! Highly recommend him!

Adams is fantastic. About 3 months ago my GE fridge was melting and I called Joel who said he could be at my place in Logan Square in an hour... and guess what? About 55 min later he rang my doorbell!
He had to replace a bad computer board which he had on his truck. He also speeded up the defrost process with a blowtorch and cleaned out the cooling coils. He did all the work quickly and efficiently and really knew what he was doing.
His price seemed very fair and he suggested I keep the old computer board and its packaging in case the new one died quickly I could get GE to replace it.
Today the fridge was on the fritz again (never buy a GE profile) and I called Joel. He made arrangements to come over and fixed the problem. This time the computer was OK, but there was a problem with the defrost... probably due to the chicago humidity and someone leaving the fridge door open for a while.
When went to pay him he refused the check because he had just been out a few months ago. The problem we had today was unrelated to the problem he fixed last time so I would have been happy to pay, but he refused.
Adams is prompt, honest, professional, clean, polite and reasonable. There is no reason to call anyone else. -

I called Adams to ask about a coil/compressor cleaning and he was completely honest and told me that it just needed a quick vacuum and not to spend unnecessary money on a technician. It's not everyday that someone gives it to you straight like this. If something does happen I'll definitely call Adams refrigeration.

I have a GE fridge that broke 2 days ago. The fridge wouldn't cool down no matter how high my settings were. My landlord contacted Adam's Refrigeration at noon and he dropped by within the hour. I guess I was lucky to receive his speedy service, but I was very impressed at his speed.
Mr. Adams also inspected the fridge, demonstrated me the issue I was having with the fridge and told me as well as the landlord the cost before he conduct the work.
Mr. Adams was humble, polite, and very descriptive of what he was doing. I will call him again when I have any fridge issues! -

I called Adams tonight around 10 p.m. I explained my situation. He diagnosed me over the phone and was very honest. He told me that he was 99% sure it was a computer issue and that I'd have more luck calling the manufacturer to get the part. He told me that rebooting the fridge was worth a shot, but that the control board was probably having issues and may need to be replaced anyway. Restarting the fridge did the trick temporarily, but I'll probably need to get a part replaced, just like he said.
He didn't come out. He didn't charge me a service fee. He just gave me free, honest advice. And, that, is how you build word-of-mouth. They don't make refrigerators like they used to, just like they don't make guys like this. -

When our fridge quit working the landlord brought over his cousin to fix it. They spent almost 2 hours in my kitchen chit-chatting and asked for my blow dryer to defrost the freezer. Fast forward two days later and surprise, surprise the fridge isn't working again. I found Adams Refrigeration on yelp and called at 6:00 in the evening assuming it would be at least the next day before anyone would come out. Joel told me he would be here by 8:00 THAT VERY NIGHT! He arrived on time and got right to work. The problem was diagnosed quickly and he had the needed part in his truck. He took out his blow torch and defrosted the freezer (my husband says "an amateur asks for your blow dryer, a professional brings his blow torch") and then worked quickly to replace the defunct part. He also didn't seem to mind my 2 year old hovering over him the whole time wanting to watch everything he was doing. The fridge has worked great since Joel was here and we found the total bill to be VERY reasonable.
If your fridge stops working, don't even mess around with the landlord's cousin. Call Joel and he will get the job done right the first time without charging you a fortune. -

I too need to give another 5 stars to Joel Adams. I gave him a call after our fridge failed to either freeze or refrigerate, and he was able to come the same day and accommodate my work schedule. He diagnosed the problem right away and had the part ready. He was in and out in an hour, and was very very reasonable! The whole process was painless, and he even cleaned under the fridge for me (which was a little embarrassing, as I have two cats...lots of fur bunnies under there). I heart Joel.

Much to my dismay, I discovered late last night that my refrigerator wasn't cold (spoiled milk) and my freezer was definitely not freezing (liquid ice cream). I threw my food out last night and was fearing the worst, until I spoke with Joel at Adams Refrigeration this morning. He recognized the problem (frost on the back of the freezer - turned out that the defrost heater had failed), and was able to come out to fix it this afternoon. He had the part in his truck and was in and out in under an hour. The service was prompt, he cleaned up the liquid mess of food at the bottom of the refrigerator, and the total cost was extremely reasonable. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Adams Refrigeration to anyone needing a refrigerator repair.

**AMAZING SERVICE!!! ...I was super bummed when my fridge decided to no longer work...so i looked up Adams on yelp and read the good reviews
from other yelpers. Thinking..."Okay, they probably aren't THAT great...."
I called when I left work (5:30pm) and the friendly man on the phone said that there would be someone there in an hour...PERFECT!!! Joel was on time, super nice, fixed my old fridge all at a GREAT price! I was pleasantly surprised on how great/smoothly everything went. Thanks !!! -

Five stars well deserved. Prompt, knowledgeable, courteous, and just plain nice at a fair price. When you call you get the owner and HE comes and fixes your unit. He was early! Also, this guy fixes the units for major restaurants with thousands of dollars of produce. Now you know they don't F around and neither does This 1 man company.

If I had known how painless getting it fixed by Adams Refrigeration would be, I would have called them much sooner! I called Adams on Monday morning and he was out to my house Monday night (when I could get home). Our compressor was running all the time and the fridge wasn't cooling any longer. He quickly assessed the problem (Ice buildup on coils), and fixed it - 30 minutes total. He went the extra mile and glued loose trim in the box that housed the fridge back in place. Very knowledgeable, very friendly, very quick, and very reasonable, and he stands by his work. Will use any time.

So the fridge in my apartment HAD the loudest motor..... and over time my fiance and I got used to it. When our lease came up for renewal, we talked to our landlord about it.
We were told to find a reasonably priced repairman and just deduct the cost from our rent. So my fiance found these guys that same day. And they showed up at our apartment the same day. And they fixed it the same day.
Ahhh my apartment is so nice and quiet now. -

So my freezer stopped freezing, and then my refrigerator got warm. I panicked and went out and bought a new refrigerator and scheduled the delivery. Then the next morning I woke up with buyer's remorse and started calling repair people. The first place I called wasn't very helpful and didn't work on weekends. I called Adams second (because of the great reviews) and they diagnosed the issue over the phone. Joel came out the next day and fixed the defroster heater (who would have thought a broken heater would result in a warm refrigerator?) for $125. Can't get better than that! Oh, and I had time to cancel the new refrigerator before it came.

I called Adams Refrigeration based on the reviews here and was not disappointed. I would award six stars if it were possible. My furnace broke down overnight. I called at 7AM and he arrived several hours later at the exact time he said he'd be there. He diagnosed the problem immediately and installed the new part. He also recognized some other minor problems and a potential problem, that he repaired at no charge to me. He was thoughful, professional, obviously an expert at heating, and the cost for the part and three hours of his time was beyond fair. I recommend him wholeheardetly.

This is my first time using Adams Refrigeration. When I saw so many five star reviews, I was excited but skeptical. I called and received same day service at a very affordable price. I couldn't believe that my problem was diagnosed over the phone. Last time I had ABT come out, they charge me several hundred dollars. Adams was a fraction of the cost and the quality of service was outstanding. I will use them again and again. It was also great that there is a year warranty for all service.

We had an issue with our fridge and called Adams Refrigeration based on all the good yelp reviews. Glad that I did. I expected problems getting someone out on a Friday evening, I told Joel I wouldn't be home till after 5:30 and he said he would be there after 5:30 and he was there right at 5:40 as promised. Definitely not what I expected in this day of 5 hour delivery windows. Joel was able to diagnose our fridge quickly, explain a couple of things that could be wrong and recommend the best course of action, which wasn't the most expensive option. Joel even had the part in his bag got everything fixed in less than an hour and cleaned up behind our fridge when he was done. I would highly recommend Joel and Adams Refrigeration!

Resounding recommendation for this outfit!
Joel came to our place on a Sunday during Fourth of July weekend, and promptly diagnosed and repaired our fridge and freezer ... even brought the appropriate part to replace the defective component causing the problem - and this before he had even laid eyes on the non-functioning appliance.
Knew exactly what he was doing .. only took about forty-five minutes from the time he arrived till the time my fridge was working like new again.
No extra charges for coming out for emergency repair on Fourth of July - just pleasant conversation, and cheerful demeanor and attitude, with a very fair price for everything.
Don't even think about using anybody else ... -

Thank goodness for yelp right now! As a new homeowner, things have just been going wrong. My refrigerator was leaking so I found Adams refrigeration on yelp. I gave them a call around 3pm and he was over at 6:30 fixing it. He was very professional and reasonable! He did the job quickly and told me I shouldn't have a problem again. He noticed my Four Seasons bill and told me to call him when I had furnace problems. I think next time I will considering how reliable and reasonable he was. Thanks Yelp!

Had a problem with a GE Profile fridge. Problem? It didn't work. So I called GE in the late morning and they earliest they could get someone here was tomorrow afternoon. I called Adams and they said they could be there within an hour and sure enough, they arrived in less than an hour.
A quick look and he assessed the control panel was shot. When talking to GE, I thought that was also covered under the 5-year warranty. So, I paid the modest house call fee and he went on his way. When I called back to confirm, they said no, it's not covered. And the cost would be more than Adams.
So, I quickly called Adams back and he was back at our place within 15 minutes and was able to replace the control panel. And within 15 minutes of him returning, all was good. So, in the span of less than 4 hours, I found a problem, called Adams, had them stop by and fix it. Both cheaper and faster than GE would have ever been able to do it.
