Review from Julia F.
I have never set foot inside this restaurant. I have, however, ordered from this store on numerous occasions. It's one of the top choices for one of my friends who lives in the neighborhood.
The delivery has been quick, not a noticeable difference from her house to mine (mine is about twice as far away from Adams - as the crow flies...) and the pizza has been good, thin crust pizza, and it has always paired very nicely with the copious amounts of pinot grigio we tend to have on hand.
I need to try the Meford sub, and the baked ziti pizza. Must.Listed in: pizza... pizza, meffa

Review from Dave F.
I often like to visit a place a few times and try several different options before I write a review, which is part of the reason I haven't done one sooner for Adams Pizza. Not because I've only gone once, but because I only ever get one thing. The Baked Ziti Pizza.
The first time I saw this on the menu, I was intrigued. What, exactly, would a baked ziti pizza be like? I couldn't really imagine it. Or rather, I couldn't believe that what I was imagining could be correct. I was imagining a normal cheese pizza with a pile of ziti noodles, more mozzarella, and more sauce. That couldn't be correct, could it? That seemed so unwieldy and strange. It couldn't be that. I had to order it and see what it was.
It was turned out it was everything I imagined, plus a ton of ricotta. It is big, it is unwieldy, and it is worth it. I wouldn't say it's the best pizza I've ever had, but it is still very good and suits a need. When I go to Adams, there is only one thing I get, and that's the baked ziti pizza. Because sometimes, I just need lots of cheese and carbs inside my belly, and the baked ziti pizza is a fabulous and satisfying way to do it. -

2 interactions here.
1st was in the shop. the place was sticky. yes sticky. the tables were sticky, the floors were sticky and if i recall correctly, it was difficult to order. the food was mediocre. that's all i remember, had i remembered more, i wouldn't have, in a haste ordered takeout..
2nd -takeout
simple enough order, yet again, i could hear my wife struggling to give the order..
we asked for a spicy Italian sub, toasted with the works, minus black olives and mayo and a small order of buffalo chicken. was thinking something like a basic SUBWAY SUB. didn't even want the wings, but needed to order something else to make the 10 delivery min.
we live less than 1/2 a mile from the kitchen. 10 mins later than the 35 min anticipated arrival time, (45mins)
this 7 dollar sub and 7 dollar chicken wigs come to the door
in a brown paper sack that was probably made with more care.
the sub was plain. it had hardly no meat. not toasted. hardly any toppings. the chicken tenders were mushy. I'm not entirely sure how they were cooked. they looked microwaved. they were soggy and stuck together in a mass of sauce. there was no celery included.
the "food" upset my stomach. it was gross and upsetting. we won't be going back there. -

Boring plain jane pizza. Staff chattering away in a language incomprehensible to me. IMO if people are eating in the dining area you don't have loud conversations for all to "hear" in any language. I was desperate to eat something quick that was in the immediate area. I won't make that mistake again.

As I left Brighton, all I could think was, how in the hell am I going to replace Big Daddy's? Well, after nearly three months of searching, I feel as though I've found a way to replace the giant calzones, the delicious pastas and the wonderful pizzas.
I've ordered from Adam's something like five times in the last two weeks. Their calzones....a slice of heaven perhaps? Thus far, the ham and cheese is my favorite, Chicken parm and steak & cheese are also viable options.
As some of you may know, I've never had good luck with delivery seafood. I tried my luck once again, but this time, it was a success. Their Frutti de Mar is sit down restaurant quality, and it's PACKED with seafood. Served with a nice light marinara, it's got a bit of kick to it.
It was also large enough to last me threeish meals.
I think I'll be ordering it again tonight. -

Pretty good food for delivery. One of go-tos if i'm gonna get my carb on.
Calzones were cooked well (and huge). Pizza i've had there has been delicious both times. I would suggest their Hawiian. Pasta dishes are also really good, and huge portions. I ate half (and i was stupidly hungry) of my Chicken Alla Sarontina. It actually had a little kick, which was a plesant surprise. They give you the Pasta is a separate container (because there is too much of it). Anyone else think that's crazy?
The chicken and cheese ravioli was also good (friend had that one). He said it was a party in his mouth. I'm assuming that's a good thing.
10% off if you order online (Grubhub counts). 15% if you're a new customer and you call in your order (mention Yelp!)
All in all, i'll order from here again. It beats other places pasta, though Cambridge House of Pizza still has delicious pizza (FAIR WARNING, Cambridge House has the kind of pizza that is great the first time around, and a brick the 2nd, not for leftovers) -

I've been here a couple times before and had subs/sandwiches, which were pretty average for a little pizza place.
Was craving take-out Italian today, but since everything in the area is seemingly closed on Sundays, decided to stop at Adam's. Got a chicken parm dinner and headed home.
Gotta say, I was really surprised. For one, the portion was huge. Came in two containers, one for the pasta, and one for the two pretty big pieces of chicken. I can eat a lot, and didn't finish it. The pasta was probably a little soft/overcooked for my liking, but hey, it's only a sub shop...but the chicken was actually really, really good. Most pizza places heavily fry chicken to the point where it's crispy. This was lightly breaded, and tender, really closer to restaurant quality instead of a pizza place.
Haven't had the pizza, and there are better places for a sandwich, however this is on my go-to list now for chicken & pasta. -

Adam's, as I imagine, must be quite the institution in both Southie as well as Medford, where it has two branches.
I've ordered from Adam's in Medford a few times, usually when I have company. Their pizzas are so flavourful and which is more than I can say for any of the generic big-brand "pizzerias" out there.
Their eggplant parmiggiana with ziti was pretty good the first time I had it, and might I add, the portion is a challenge for one person. So, you know what's on your agenda for lunch, dinner and the following day's breakfast too. Ordering it a second time made me wonder why I had thought so highly of it earlier. *Self-doubt creeping in*
As far as the pizzas are concerned, the two that I have tried and can stand by are the Medford and Adam's varieties. I can't decide which one takes the flavour cake here, but after a few long hours of deliberation, I have reached the conclusion that the Medford Pizza has beaten its competitor by a few points. Now, toppings like garlic, oregano, Romano cheese, olive oil, sliced tomato and mozzarella cheese might seem very commonplace for a pizza, even cliched, but not all pizzerias can attest to creating good recipes. The flavor of all of these ingredients on that one pizza is so overpowering and delightful. If Julia Child were a seasoned Italian chef, I bet the Medford Pizza would give her a run for her money, anyday!
The Adam's Pizza is more like a feast for the eyes and tongue with toppings like Artichoke hearts, feta cheese, roasted red peppers, Spanish onions, garlic and mozzarella.
The only thing that dampens my lavish praise for Adam's are the prices. They have only 2 sizes - medium and large. The medium usually falls in the $13 to ~ $16+ range, whereas the large ones are around the same too, perhaps slightly higher. Quite frankly, there's not much of a difference between both the sizes either. Embarassing when you order one large pizza for 5-6 people thinking it might suffice!
Great food, free delivery, somewhat steep prices, you decide! -

I'm at odds with Yelp's interpretation of 3 stars vs 2 stars. I wouldn't repeat a 3 star experience, but Yelp thinks it's A-OK. That said, I would probably try Adam's again, but I wouldn't order the Frutti Di Mare. I got wings, pizza and Greek salad last time. I think it was pretty good. I didn't think to write a review to remind myself. I know I liked the salad. Anyways...I uploaded pics of the food I ordered this time.
The moment I opened the container I was confused. It looked delish, but the smell was off. Frutti Di Mare (in case you don't know) is fruit of the sea, but the sauce smelled strongly of meat, or sausage spice. The sauce had small chunky bits that may have been ground beef, I could be wrong. Either way, it tasted strongly of beef, and clashed with the seafood. The spiciness was great though. I thought the seafood was good (my bf thought it was chewy). We both agreed it tasted like it was cooked separately and added at the end. No big deal, but for $17 I expected more. Next time I will stick to chicken, pizza, maybe scampi.
The salad contains a variety of lettuce, and more than 2 pieces of tomato and cucumber. That is impressive for most places around here. And I know I really liked the Greek salad so I would recommend a pairing a salad with your Adam's order if you're jonesing for fresh veg action. -

I've never been to this actual place but I've had delivery several times. Fast and the food gets to you still hot.
My favorite is the Pollo Delite, which is Grilled Chicken, Broccoli, Roasted pepper & American Cheese on a soft roll - delicious!! -
Review from Dave K.
I wasn't a huge fan of Adams for a few reasons. Their crust was super thin in the middle of the pie which made for consumption by hand. Also, and more importantly, the pizza taste/flavor was not anything noteworthy.

Average. Better than Dominos, but I feel like you'd really need to try to be worse.
I can only speak to the delivery service - the driver showed up at the back end of the quoted delivery time... food was warm, not hot (ordered a medium cheese pizza and french fries), not cold. Driver wasn't especially friendly, but definitely wasn't rude.
I took advantage of the http://Foodler.com rebate; had I not the price would be steep for what was provided. I'm certainly not stopping my search for a quality pizza delivery place in the area. -

Well, my friends, i'm about 5 lbs heavier, and I'd just like to take a minute to thank the Medford Sub from Adam's Pizza for it's sole responsibility for my weight gain.
This sub is phenomenal. Giant homemade sub roll, stuffed with fat juicy strips of delicious chicken breast meat, paired with perfect prosciutto, and topped with heavenly portions of mozzarella cheese. Of course, I added pickles, and you can't go wrong with pickles.
The staff is friendly, and the delivery is quick.
Screw it, I'm giving this one a five star review, because I think that this sub just may be "as good as it gets." -

I ordered a large cheese pizza (16'') and a chicken parm sandwich at 2:30 on St. Patrick Day Sunday. Total under twenty dollars which is great. Local delivery free with any order greater than $10 too. They said 30-45 minutes for delivery and it arrived at 3:15, 45 minutes latter.
Pizza was excellent, esp. for the price. Fluffy crust and real tasting cheese. Chicken Parm sandwich is larger and full of chicken and cheese.
Well worth trying out! I give this five stars because its an excellent neighbor pizza place. Is this a five star restaurant, but comparing it to neighborhood pizza places its near the top. -

This is pretty good, cheap, non-chain pizza. It's not mind-blowing or particularly memorable but it's solid and it satisfies a craving. The crust is crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, with big air bubbles. The cheese tastes like actual, recognizable mozzarella. The sauce is sort of bland. I really wanted some basil or oregano or red pepper or salt. But major points for having broccoli and anchovies among their topping options.
I ordered a chocolate chip cookie and instead got some sort of chocolate bread situation that was absolutely horrible. I can't even be annoyed about it, though, as it seems random dessert substitutions are sort of par for the course with most of Medford and Somerville's local pizza and sub shops. Plus, despite the (cute) logo sticker slapped on that shit, Adam's Pizza clearly didn't make the bread in house. So whatevs.
Delivery was superfast and friendly. The driver was one of few who came right to my apartment door instead of having me run downstairs in socks and my boyfriend's boxers. The pizza, the disgusting chocolate bread, and a drink came to less than $15. I can definitely see myself ordering from Adam's again. -

I'm convinced that Adam's has a transporter device, that allows them to beam directly into their kitchen pizza that has been prepared in a similar kitchen somewhere near the intersection of 14th Street and 3rd Avenue, and if you need to ask "what city" then the depth of the greatness of Adam's Pizza's pizza is lost on you. But you'll enjoy it anyway.
They're also the nicest food people I've ever dealt with, and their other food is great too! We get delivery from them often and they actually give us a free brownie or whoopie pie each time; how cool is that?
(the edit - okay, it took me a while but I finally caught that I originally called it Andy's, not Adam's - SORRY ADAM!) -

I saw a awesome 30% off your first order for this place so I jumped on it.
Here's that link:
http://www.foodler.com...
It came fast and the delivery guy was really friendly, but the medium pizza was really small but tasty. The fries were really good. With the 30% off it came to under 14 bucks.
The wings were tasty as well. Overall, give it a shot. -

Delivery was on time, prices are low, and portions are large.
But the Eggplant Parm Pasta was very greasy, like a soggy buttered pancake and the sauce was very watery.
Next time, I'll avoid the Eggplant Parm. -

I really want to give them 4 stars. I do. More on why it's three in a minute.
We order from them enough since they're so close and most menu items we've had have been satisfactory. We order online, which is nice because you get a discount, and walk up the street to pick up, so I can't write experientially about their delivery service, but they are friendly and courteous enough in-store. The website needs some work, but it does get the job done once you are used to it. It seems like it is buggy when applying the correct discount. For example, $14.99 * 1.0625 = $15.93. When I went to to pick up they charged over $16.50. I didn't feel like arguing...
From a place with pizza in its name, I expected that it would be one of their better dishes. Mostly we have ordered the pasta dishes, subs, and salads, which have all been quite tasty. Last night we tried a basic cheese pizza with some extra hot buffalo wings, which is one of their advertised combo specials ($14.99), and I have to reiterate what some other posters have said. The sauce was bland. Almost incredibly so. I mean, how do you even get it that way without trying? The cheese was just okay flavor-wise and it looked like they were a little skimpy on the amount. The crust was just so-so and could have benefited from some more olive oil and probably sugar too. The wings were okay. The hot sauce was hot enough. The skin wasn't crispy enough for my preference. I don't think that they were freshly cut wings, either; they were probably the frozen kind.
Okay, now the good stuff. Their pasta is incredible! Really! We've ordered several dishes and all have been very flavorful. Our favorites are the parmigiana dishes: eggplant, chicken, and combo. The sauce was great, which is odd when I think about it versus the pizza sauce. I choose the fusilli pasta which has always been al dente and flavorful. The cheese is gooey and delicious and there is plenty of it. The parmigiana combo dish is huge, which almost brings a tear to my eye because I require massive portion sizes. I've also had the tortellini and the ravioli and both were "bella". The best special they have is the two pasta dishes plus salad combo. I highly recommend it. It comes with fresh garlic bread that has chopped garlic and parsley on it. Seriously good nosh.
If it weren't for the anti-climactic pizza experience, I would have given them 4 stars. If they ever want 5 from me, they should make everything homemade and fresh and give their website a professional overhaul, for starters. Also, they should expand their appetizers and specials menu listings to include more food that isn't just greasy post-bar-night drunk food. All in all, they are a decent option in west Medford. -

This rating is sort of tentative, but if the rest of what they deliver consistently as good as the pizza I had tonight, I'm sold. We had the meat-lover's pizza, which was alright, and the quattro pizza, which was awesome. (There's an earlier yelper who mentioned the lack of sauce on the quattro pie...I had that review in mind when I went to place my order on foodler, and I definitely remembered to check the little option for YES GIVE ME SAUCE, but the pie still came without sauce...so maybe that's just the way they prepare it despite giving you no warning otherwise!).
The Italian sub I had was HUGE. Unfortunately, much of the HUGEness came from the bread they used (that sesame-encrusted enormous loaf sort of roll), but the ingredients all seemed fresh across the board, and the guy who delivered the food was really nice, all smiles despite the fact that they'd tried to call me several times to figure out what I wanted on my sub, but I never heard my phone ring (whoops, my bad).
The pizza crust was great...not greasy in the least, crispy on the outside and chewy enough to be satisfying, more thin than a lot of these places tend to offer (which I like). The cheese on the quattro was flavorful and delicious...again, not hugely greasy and oily. I preferred it to the meat lover's pizza, but that was still quality. I've had trouble finding delivery pizza I enjoy ever since moving away from Fenway and my Canestaro's fix, and this discovery makes me pretty happy! -

My first experience with Adam's was pretty good. I had the Bruschetta pizza which was tasty, and the rest of my group loved the Tufts pizza, which has chicken, bacon, and ranch.
Tonight, though, my friend and I ordered the Veggie Lovers pizza through GrubHub. About 45 minutes later, a pizza slathered in olives arrives. Neither the paper menu I have no the menu at GrubHub listed olives as a topping - they both say "Mushroom, onion, spinach, broccoli, tomato, & pepper". So naturally, that's what we expected.
So the pizza with olives? Was not what we ordered. The delivery guy told me the veggie lovers comes with all the vegetables (though why only list some of them on the menu?) as does the woman he called at the restaurant. I asked if there was another pizza with "veggie" in the name - maybe I ordered the wrong one. After this, I'm told via phone that a new pizza will be on its way.
The new pizza did arrive, but the taste was somewhat disappointing. The Bruschetta pizza from two weeks ago was better. I don't think I'll be ordering from Adam's again. -

It seems like 614 Main Street is something new every other month, hopefully Adam's Pizza will stay for the long haul. I couldn't find any information online, so I walked down to order a pizza. The menu is pretty expansive, even offering breakfast options. It is your standard pizza shop inside, but it is clean and they have fresh ingredients on display which is nice to see. I ordered a medium "Quattro" pizza. My pizza was ready in 10 - 15 minutes, a nice change from the long waits at other pizza spots. The service was very friendly.
The smell of the pizza was teasing me as I walked home. The pizza was delicious, really nice cheese blend. Only one problem, they forgot to put the sauce on the pizza! There are many sauceless pizzas on the menu, but the "Quattro" wasn't one of them. Unfortunately, I cannot say anything about the sauce yet. Again, the cheese blend was awesome and the crust had a perfect blend of crunch and fluff. I can't wait to go back! Maybe next time I'll try some sauce. -

Great calzones, especially the buffalo chicken. We have ordered twice from here and no lie both those times our order of mozzarella sticks were missing. We had to call back and the poor delivery guy had to come back to bring them. Luckily we live right down the road. Maybe next time we will go there to pick them up?
