Adam's Mountain Cafe was a delightful, warm retreat on a snowy afternoon in Manitou Springs. Great space, good atmosphere, love the honey pot on the table (hours of fun).

The vegetarian thing didn't kill it for me, obviously, but I'm not going to lie, I like some meat with my breakfast.

The sherry cream potatoes, dear God. Delicious.

Fantastic coffee, particularly when paired with the aforementioned honey pot.

Muy delicioso huevos rancheros.

Amazing, dare I say clean, pancakes. Like the rest of the meal, they tasted very wholesome and healthy.

I went in at 1pm on a Sunday and there was a 35 minute wait. Pretty busy place.

Ah, there is nothing like serendipity to crown a great day. We were a bit late getting done with our hike, and opted to just find something quick nearby. My iPhone lost its last bit of charge before we could do any meaningful research.

Adam's Mountain Cafe was close to where we parked, and it was open. Our first pleasant surprise was the menu, and the beer selection was not too bad either.

We started with an appetizer of chickpea cakes crowned with tomatoes, watercress, and a couple of sauces. Interestingly enough, the cakes by themselves were a little dry, but came alive with all the ingredient in the same bite. We cleaned off the plate, and not only because we were hungry.

I am not a huge fan of cooked fish, but the Barramundi in Brazilian Curry Sauce caught my attention. The plate arrived with a superb balance of greens, beans, rice, and the main dish. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce played perfectly with the texture and the mild flavor of the flesh.

Tanya got the Jerk Chicken, and the chef repeated his performance with a great balance of spices and the meat cooked just right.

Went back to this place while I was home visiting my parents.  I took my friends here and we sat on the patio this time because it was nice and warm out.  Food was excellent, coffee was never low and neither was our H20.  Service was very prompt and our server was again, very knowledgeable.

On a side note:  the owners little boy was helping the server wait on us because he had a very high cell phone bill and he had to work it off!  GOOD work mom, my father would have done the same thing to me!!

So if you're going in to Colorado Springs for a visit, I HIGHLY recommend stopping into this place for some breakfast or brunch.  You won't be disappointed.

The only thing I would recommend to this place is to make their coffee a bit  stronger, it looks like weak tea when being poured into the cup and if I can drink 5 cups of the stuff, then it is pretty weak coffee!  The last time I was there, it was MUCH stronger.

Other than that, this place is top notch and the quality of food you will get is excellent!

Five of us went here for dinner Friday evening and it was absolute nirvana.  At Adams, it's all about quality & flavor....not slow particularly; but, not fast food either. Service was fast and friendly.  Appetizer: the crostini with cheese, figs, walnuts, onion and pear is one of the most amazing flavor blends available. Entree: the harvest crepes were outstanding, as was the Thai shrimp. The Brazilian Baramundi is one of the best seafood dishes you can get anywhere in the country.....seriously, dish-for-dish, this stacks up with any seafood dish you can buy....anywhere....at any price. This is my 3rd or 4th dinner visit in the past year and Adams' Mountain Cafe is consistently outstanding, with great service and reasonable prices. I'm really gonna be having second thoughts if they don't serve this stuff in heaven!

Had breakfast here finally.  Very good.  Had a salmon dill omelet.  It was good, almost too big, but packed to over flowing with salmon, had some cream cheese and capers in it.  A bit too much dill in the egg mixture for my taste and the omelet was really large enough for 2+ people.  I know for most people that would be a good thing.  The coffee was great -- very smooth.  Will be back.

Great food. Makes everything from scratch. I assumed they used cage-free organic eggs but they don't!

A good place for brunch - rosemary roasted potatoes and huevos rancheros are good choices. If you go for dinner be sure to make reservations or else be prepared for a looong wait. Although the town of Manitou Springs is right there and you can wander around and lose track of time.

Though Manitou Springs is considered by many to be an old hippie town, the Adams Mountain Cafe steps above that image with some good quality food and a nice environment.

I went for a Saturday night dinner (in the winter) with my mom. Her first comment was that she liked the old wooden tables and chairs. Most of the tables, chairs, and furnishings appeared to be vintage style wood pieces, and not all matched which added to the charm.

Earlier in the afternoon, I notice the restaurant was crowded during lunch, but the crowd had subsided by dinnertime around 7 PM.

I ordered the Seattle Orange Spice House Tea (hot) to start which came in a generous mug and had an orange, cinnamon and clove flavor. Excellent taste and didn't need sweetener of any kind. Great drink for a winter warm-up! Mom ordered coffee and found out that they don't offer Spenda or any artificial sweeteners.

For dinner I had the Grilled Chicken with Honey and Yogurt, which was quite good and full of flavor. The chicken had a honey - ginger chipotle glaze with toasted almonds and dried apricots on top.

Mom had Adam's Spinach Salad with chicken and fresh basil vinaigrette dressing, which she said was good if you like bleu cheese (sprinkled throughout the salad).

When I commented to our server Gina about how good everything was, especially the tea, she mentioned that they sell it as a loose tea in 1/2 lb. bags for $8.50. I said that was a little too much tea for me, so she brought me a generous sample of the loose tea to take home.

Great place to dine if you're looking for good quality, great tasting food in Manitou.

This restaurant subscribes to the philosophy of preparing each dish from scratch. So the wait for the food is a little longer, but well worth the wait. They are not about "fast food" or mass production.

I came here for dinner and had a great experience. I had the salmon fettucine alfredo and the garden salad with a huge glass of red wine. They have a wide variety of vegetarian and seafood dishes.

The night I was there, they also had a local musician playing the guitar.

Adam's mountain cafe is a perfect little place to take in the relaxed and laid back lifestyle of Manitou Springs. The town is a fun, young artist town that really makes you feel like your home. Everyone was so friendly.

Adams Mountain Cafe appears to be a locals favorite and I can see why. They really value the concept of sitting down for a good meal.

Okay...so I've been considering Adam's Mountain Cafe.

1) This is my favorite breakfast in the Greater Colorado-Springs-Manitou-Springs area
2) I am a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast.
3) I do have a few other issues.  check it out:

The Good:
-Tasty and pretty healthy
- TONS of vegetarian options
- Orange almond french toast--not so healthy, but delish
- they have a variety of coffee options: espresso drinks and coffe.  mmm.

The Bad: (a.k.a. my rant about service)
- Not a huge selection for breakfast, and when everything that hasn't knocked my socks off has ultimately left me unsatisfied.  Don't get me wrong: better and healthier than the average springs breakfast fair, but there are a few amazing things, and a few more okay things.  And not a ton on the menu, now that I've been back about 5 times.
- the food for dinner was good, but not good enough for the high prices.
- service is hit or miss.  Usually a miss.  I promise, I really am patient with servers- I work food service and I don't like to be critical--people have bad days, right?

However, I've watched our sever hang out and cajole with a table of regulars while i waited for her to run our check for 20 minutes (I sent my guests to the car so they weren't rude to her and didn't tell me to tip less than I did) .  Again, today my mother asked for something to be cut in half-- a weird request, but she's old, so whatever.  And I told her I would do it for her, but then the server followed me up with "um, yea- our chefs won't do that anyway. it would ruin the presentation."  Bitch please.

I don't understand people raving about the friendly service here.  That was a little unnecessary.  IF it were me, I would cut the damn roll in half for my table, while grumbling under my breath about how f*cking lazy people are.  That is totally acceptable server behavior, and sometimes, when you're having a bad day, it's how you survive.

I know my mom's request was bullshit, but she's old (and if you're in the business of breakfast, you get used to weird old person requests.  I was once sworn at by an old man because my restaurant's waffle iron was broken) , and, it wasn't that bad.  Plus,we were one of 3 tables in the entire restaurant.  It wasn't BAD service, but often I feel like the servers there are annoyed at us for being there.  And i tip 25% usually, so I try to make it worth their time.

On the other have had one really incredibly cool server- but she told us she was getting ready to move to California a week after we met her.  Lameness.

You're right.  I'm a southerner.  I do have a high standard for what friendly means.  I'm spoiled.  But i know how to give it, too!!!

Of course, there is my final guess: this is a friendly-to-regulars-and-locals type service place.  And our server could see I wasn't wearing vegan footwear.

The Miscellaneous:
- the dinning room set up is eclectic, to say the least.  I like it, but i'm a weirdo, so there.
-Have gone for dinner one time.  We made reservations on a whim, and lucky we did. we watched people wait for almost an hour.
- Have yet to get my lunch on here.  I bet it's pretty good.

On the whole, I guess our server today was the straw that broke the amateur foodie's back.  Hopefully this review doesn't make me look totally nuts.  Quick recap:

-try the orange french toast
-really good coffee
- skip dinner here:  looks like a fair amount of the dinner menu is avaliable at lunch
- try to blend in in an effort to get better service?  this means yes to flowy peasant skirts, birkenstocks, pachouli instead of deoderant, and a big no to polo shirts, anything patent leather, or coiffed hair.

New to the area and a co-worker recommended this place for organic food.  AMC tries its best to seek out local and sustainable seafood.  I went on my first day in the area, which unfortunately was a Monday and it was closed.  Not to be deterred, I went on Wednesday and was able to get a table right away.  This at 8pm when all the other restaurants in Manitou Springs were already closed for the evening.  I ate the Senegalese vegetable dish and a friend had the Moroccan fish tacos. Food was awesome.  I was impressed with how the cafe was able to serve a high quality variety of ethnic dishes.  Can't wait to try the other dishes on the menu.

I thought I'd like this place more than I did.  The setting was lovely, right next to a stream in downtown Manitou Springs.  We walked in right at 11am, hoping for breakfast, but were told the kitchen had already switched to the lunch menu.  If you look at their breakfast menus online, they say they are served until 3pm daily.  Perhaps that was the start of the slight disappointed feeling I had.

After a bit of trouble with the kids, since they really wanted pancakes, they settled on quesadillas.  Flat and round like a pancake, right?  The quesadillas were good, and served with a side of chips.

I asked for a mocha to drink, and was told they were out of milk.  Ended up with regular coffee, since they at least had some half-and-half containers.  My disappointment grew.

My husband ordered the Planet Burger, and I thought it was really good, moist and flavorful.  I ordered the Peak Sandwich.  Here's where my disappointment fully took root.  The turkey was dry, and there wasn't enough sauce to make up for it.  Also, it was only on one piece of bread, and there wasn't anything on the side.  It wasn't even piled all that high, as you would expect with that name.  For $7.75 I expected a lot more.  When I got it and saw how small it was I asked for some fruit on the side, and was told that the fruit was only with breakfast, and I could have some orange slices.  Um, no thanks.

We were very impressed with the signs on the table that said they were part of the slow food movement, since we are big supporters of the movement.  My husband's and the kids' lunches were good, as was the service, so they get 3 stars.  Just don't get the Peak Sandwich.  Really.

The best restaurant in Colorado Springs. This is a must-stop every time I visit my hometown.

On this last trip, I ate lunch here twice (they stop serving breakfast at 11 on weekdays - oops! I really wanted their French toast).

Their veggie burger is the best I've ever had. I've taken avowed carnivores to Adams and they raved about the veggie burger. I've never had anything bad here, and their ingredients are some of the freshest I've found in town.

I like their new location as it's big and airy. Not that there's anything wrong with cozy and dark, but they've clearly outgrown their old digs.

I love their Orange Clove tea so much that I bought a pound of it to take home with me. It's amazingly fragrant and the tastes are so layered... I've had it every day for a week now and every sip feels like a surprise!

Local. Friendly. Yummy.

Since we live in the north-east part of town, we have only made it out to Adam's on the weekends - most frequently for Sunday brunch.

It's a well known place - with a great reputation (and cool discount coupons they give folks who support KRCC radio during their fund raising drives!)... so the main con is just that you'll probably need to put your name on the list and take a little walk before your party can be seated.

Adam's has been one of my favorite restaurants for as long as I can remember.
It's located in Manitou Springs, a wonderful mountain community just outside of Colorado Springs.
The interior is old, with beautifully crafted wooden chairs and tables.  OH! And the artwork!  Local artist Rocky has many many originals adorning the walls, all in gilded frames he built himself.

The atmosphere, as you could probably guess, is ideal for me.  Even better though, the food is also incredible.  This organic, health-conscious place makes many kinds of wonderful food.

My favorite is the Planet Burger (vegetarian with mixed nuts) with Swiss cheese and caramelized onions.  Oh man, sometimes I drive an hour and a half just to have one.

Certain nights there is also a classical guitarist who plays.  Truly, this place is a treat.

I had higher than warranted expectations coming into this place last night.  Also, why did it take us 10 minutes just to find the front door?  Note to weary traveler...entrance is on the southwest side of the building.

The atmosphere is fitting the old town nature of Manitou Springs as the floor, tables and wall decorations had that warm and homey feeling you'd expect at a restaurant in this area. (1 Star) The hostess, waitress and kitchen staff were all friendly and very accommodating, complimenting the live music adding to the overall mood.(1 Star)

Ordered the peanut crusted (I've seen encrusted and crusted...what's the difference?  Anyone?) salmon accompanied by steamed sugar snap peas and jasmine rice dumplings. I was excited as the food came but after tasting the sides, an ovewhelming feeling of disappointment was prevalent.  Both sides were bland (what did I expect ordering dumplings filled with just rice.  What was I thinking?!) as was the salmon!

Bad food aside, the great service, Tuesday night live music and homemade soy milk hot chocolate (1 Star) earns this place 3 stars.

My favorite food in the area! It's in the little hippie town of Manitou near Colorado Springs. They have an extensive and yummy menu with plenty of organic and locally produced food. It's not all vegetarian, but the veggie options they have are creative and delicious. Great wine, too.
The only problem is the waiting. First, you'll almost always have a long wait if you go on a weekend morning. If you call to make a reservation, you can leave a message, but that only works if you do it like a week or more in advance, in my experience. Once I made Valentine's reservations like a month in advance, and we still had to wait a half-hour for our table. Second, they're part of the Slow Food movement, so expect to wait on your meal (maybe that's a good thing).
But those things don't matter much because the food will amaze your taste buds. I even had to compliment the chef once, and I've never done that! I think it was for a noodle and tofu dish that I hadn't expected to be that good. They also have good coffee and usually friendly service. Try the huevos!

This is one of those restaurants that has out-of-the-ordinary food.  Josh and I both loved our dishes.  It gets really busy, and the food takes forever, but the table cards explain that it's because everything is made from scratch.  One point though, if they know the food will take forever, why don't they serve us a little bread to tide us over?  I absolutely loved my tea, and the honey on the table is really neat.  Since we've been home from our trip I tried to replicate the crepes that I had, that's how much I've been thinking about this food!  Lots of vegetarian dishes and plenty of space for big groups.  The dining area is really open with lots of light, perfect on a cold day.

Let's get real everyone. This is most definitely an overrated restaurant.  I cannot believe the average review is 4.5 stars.  If you like to wait 30 minutes to an hour for a table, and then another 30 minutes to have bland food delivered to your seat , and then have your server explain the "slow-food revolution" then this is a great choice for you.  Their selling point is the "slow-food revolution" in which nothing is prepared before you order.  Sounds great, but how many people actually care WHEN their carrots were cut, their bread sliced, or their eggs beaten?  Our server told me that the kitchen's pride is in the fact that they use no heating lamps.  If it means having the food delivered sooner, then go ahead and use a freaking heating lamp!  I would have perhaps appreciated this "revoultion" and snail-like service if the food was good, but it wasn't.  In fact, I'm taking away a star from my two star review right now.  I had the beer cheddar soup of the day and it tasted like clay.  There was barely any flavor and I had to add a generous amount of salt to it.  The peak sandwich wasn't bad, but their portions weren't generous.  To finally justify my low rating, let me mention their prices.  I read on a previous review that their prices were reasonable.  Does $4.00  for "extras" on your nachos sound reasonable?  And we're talking BASIC additions you'd normally find included with your nachos: beans, sour cream, and guacamole.  Or, if you want, you can get just a side of sour cream for a dollar fifty!  So in conclusion, a long wait, a longer wait for food, and food that lacked flavor and value adds up to a one star review.

good stuff. i like that they use organic ingredients. i ordered something with fresh fruit and it was beautifully presented. if you ever get anything with their honey, it's fantastic. their sunflower seed toast is also excellent.
it's probably all of these reasons that make this place kinda pricey.

The food here is consistently good and healthy compared to most other restaurants.  I recommend getting an appetizer because they are part of the 'Slow food movement', meaning it takes longer than typical to get your food.  My fiancee likes their iced orange tea a lot.
