The fact that this is (or perhaps was) considered the best hotel in Buffalo irks me to no end.  Its prior reputation compels people to still pay to stay at this dump of a hotel.  Maybe they've made improvements since I was there, but I would be surprised.  The room was old and dingy.  It seemed clean enough but for a hotel with this reputation I would expect more!

An extra star only because their banquet facilities are decent.

I've stayed here 4 times now, and it has been so unreliable.  A couple of years ago, stayed here for a convention where a number of exhibitors had numerous pieces of equipment stolen by staff.  When talking to desk staff, they acted like it was out of their control, no help.  When the police came, they acted like it was our fault our equipment was stolen - that it was ridiculous to somehow think the hotel exhibition hall would provide any sense of security or controlled access.  Wow.....

The service was very bad, and moral was clearly very low - to the point of hotel staff complaining to myself and business colleagues.

Why did I come back?  Not by choice, someone else made the reservations for me.  The last couple of stays were only for one night, and I was only in the hotel long enough to sleep.  For that, it was fine.  Staff moral did seem to be better, much improved, as compared to my original stays.

Love it already. Tasteful rooms. Downtown location. Fantastic staff.
Great view of downtown from my room.
The bar stays open until 2a, which is unheard of in hotels. If I am traveling and do not arrive until 11p or midnight and I can't get a glass of vino, I get cranky - not only was the bar open but the charming bartender was friendly through last call.
I was very comfortable (see pic) and have no issue recommending this hotel.

Growing up in the city, I remember this hotel being referred to as the real deal back in the day with regards to parties, events, out of town guest accommodations, etc. Several years have passed since then and this hotel has aged.

The hotel is located downtown, close to city hall, across from one of the local tv stations and not far from the waterfront.  From a convenience standpoint, the hotel is also within close proximity to the highway.

The hotel looks outdated on the outside but inside it looks a little better although a major renovation would bring it into 2012. The rooms are nice however there is an old musty smell that permeates.  In general the place is clean but the dated and dingy look makes you feel a little itchy.  The television selections are limited.

The staff is nice and very helpful.

Price is pretty decent , especially if you use priceline or hotwire but there are much better hotels in the vicinity for just a few dollars more.

This hotel needs help. Bad. The only reason I am giving it 2 stars is because the room was nice and had a refrigerator and a microwave. Other than that this hotel needs MANAGEMENT bad. The restaurant has good food but the service is horrible, the staff lacks leadership. Same with the front desk staff. The rooms are nice but housekeeping sucks. They don't pay any attention to detail...dust bunnies everywhere, missing parts of coffee maker... Not restocking the coffee or condiments. They charge $10 per night for a rollaway bed!! Internet is free but good luck getting a good wireless connection.

What a disappointment! I always thought Adams Mark Hotels were supposed to be the cream of the crop! Boy I was WAY off. They let us check in early but charged us to park. The room was OK clean wise, but alot of stuff didn't work.  The refrigerator did not work, the bathroom door didn't close right. Later, after the Sabre's game, we went to the bar in the Adams Mark and the guy SUCKED. Not just a little but REALLY BAD. When we ordered, one of the drinks was wrong, all 3 shots were wrong, (who mixes up an order for Jameson with Jack Daniels), then for the second round we had to wait about 30 minutes. He got 2 more drinks wrong. So after 2 rounds and 3 shots we left. I could not even get him to give us our tab. I hope they fire that guy he was the worst bartender EVER. If I ever stay at a hotel in downtown Buffalo again, I guarantee it will not be at the Adams Mark.

This is a dump. Room was dirty. Bathroom had a leak, and I'm not sure the bathroom floor had ever been mopped. Room service forgot to come by one day. A noisy heater kept me up all night. Amenities are decent though: nice gym and pool, okay restaurant, free WiFi. Not a great location either.

I am fairly certain that this property is the worst hotel that claims to be full service that I've ever stayed in.  And that is saying a lot considering that I spend 75+ nights a year on the road.

Everything about this place is depressing starting with the Port cochere and parking garage that seems vintage 1970 something.  I truly believe that my  room's last refresh and furniture upgrade was during the Carter administration..  Yuck all around...

1 night was all I could take.....

I booked a room at Adam's Mark because the conference organizer got a good rate on a block of rooms for attendees....The rate is the best thing about the place.  My room..corner of the sink is broken off...water pressure in shower is low, not sure they mopped the bathroom floor any day I stayed, or before I arrived, and there are strange stains and crud on the grab rails, and shower curtain.  Room change came late in the day..like 4 p.m., so going back to the room mid-day was not a relaxing experience. The bottom sheet on the bed is too short, so the bottom sheet crawls up at night.  It's like being short sheeted.

TV selections are very limited on the free side....oh yes, I could either have quiet or A/C but not both.  The A/C in the room sounds like a 707 ready for take off, and the fan is not much quieter.  Without the A/C there is no air movement....oh yes, and when I lifted the drape to clear the vents on the unit, I exposed a line of mold that had formed between the drape and the A/C unit.

The hotel catered the convention and the food was ...acceptable.  If you like beer...it has to be light..that's about all they have...and a limited liquor selection.  No brandy and they didn't know what B&B is..never heard of it.

The men's room off the lobby had an active leak in the ceiling, so you couldn't use the stall without getting wet..not sure of the source..yikes..I did hear a flush above my head.

The last day of the conference was COLD.  We couldn't get the temperature adjusted and even though it was pleasant outside, we were frost bitten.

They are renovating, but I saw one of the renovated floors and they must be replacing the same tired 1980s Americana finishes.

The best thing I can say about the place is that it is large, there is an active network connection in the room and wifi, it is close to downtown and I've actually seen worse.

I feel like I stepped back in time.

I'm driving a ridiculous distance so I figured I would crash in Buffalo for the night. I used Priceline's name your own price thing and snagged a room for $45. At that price, I guess I really can't complain. The other pluses are that it's right off 190 and internet is free.

If you paid full price, you've been screwed. There's no way this place is a 3-star when a place as awesome as the Hyatt in Buffalo is also a 3-star. The entry area and the fountain here are pretty cool but the classiness factor ends with that. Check-in is far from friendly with no greeting or thank you's. Once you get your key card, you head towards elevators that sound like they belong in a warehouse. The hallways look like they belong in a crackhouse with stained carpets and disgusting walls. The rooms look like they've been recently redone but the whole vibe is that of a hotel from the 60's. Bathrooms are small with peeling paint and the tvs are the old school type...yea, those big things behind a small screen. The other crappy thing...parking isn't free.

Like I said, if you can get away with snagging it for a cheap-o deal like I did, then it does it's job well. I wouldn't spend more than a night here though because I've definitely been bit by something a few times in the room.

I would NOT go back to this hotel. It looks nice from the outside but it's plagued by problems on the inside. Computers were down at check-in and they told me I couldn't get into my room for hours! Drunken patrons in the lobby when I returned prevented me from checking in again for another 30 minutes. Cheap mattresses in the room made sleep uncomfortable. And the lack of fitted sheets was annoying. What hotel uses flat sheets on the beds? They come undone during the night and then you wake up sleeping directly on the mattress!!

The reviews sum it up - outdated, can be dirty, is dingy.  Had "short hairs" on the soap dish in the shower.  Furnishings are terrible - walking into the restaurant area brings you back to a Robert Deniro Casino era - although it can be amusing to look at.

The restaurant food is not bad -  they bill their breakfeast buffet as "the best in Buffalo." I'm not sure if THAT is the case, but it is pretty good - but step for around $13.

If you need a place to stay on the cheap in Buffalo its a winner - but if you are looking for something somewhat comfortable and fresh book a Holiday Inn or another chain nearby.

Such a disappointment.  Is this really considered a 3 star hotel?

The premises seem very outdated, especially the restaurant and lounge areas, which had a definite early 80's vibe going on.  The carpet in the halls had many, many stains, including one outside of the elevator on our floor that looked disturbingly like the remains of a crime scene.

As for the room, the bed was decent, it was comfortable, but there was a lounge chair in the corner that was saggy from years of use, the air conditioner would make a loud BOOM every time it turned on (and you had to have it on, otherwise the room would be suffocating), and the shower curtain was dirty and moldy in spots.

Plus, you had to pay to park!  Are you joking!  I can see charging non-guests, but really, an extra $7 was just like a kick after you were down.  We arent in downtown Chicago, kids. Cut your guests some slack.

We looked here to see if we wanted to see if we wanted to hold our wedding reception here.

    Banquet room = beautiful!
Lobby = all I could do was think about taking my pictures in there
    Food = Great!
Guest rooms = no thanks!  Totally would have picked this place but the rooms look like they need a face lift.  Since we have so many guests coming in from out of town, this was a deal breaker for us.

We stayed at the Adams Mark in Buffalo on July 15 2011, on our way from Niagara Falls to Watkins Glen and the Finger Lakes Wine Festival.  The reason we got the Adams Mark was that it was an unpublished hotel special on Expedia.  We took a gamble and got a great room rate.  Being an Adams Mark, we were expecting it to be a very nice hotel.  Nope.  This was one of the more dirty hotels we have stayed in all summer.  I see now why we got such a great room rate.  If you get a great rate and only plan to sleep and shower, then this is fine.  If you are expecting it to be a higher end hotel, you are going to be disappointed.

Bottom line: Though this wasn't an awful place to stay for a day or two, it is definitely NOT a three star hotel.  If you decide to stay here, be warned that you will be paying almost 3 star prices for a sub-par 2 star room without the usual 2 star benefits (like a free breakfast and free wifi).

This is a review of the room only:

Cleanliness: 2.5 Stars - Decently clean but had a weird odor and stains on a couple of spots on the carpet.

Furnishing: 2 Stars - Outdated furniture and no flat screen television.

Value: 1.75 Stars - Though the price wasn't awful, the ten dollars for parking was a bit steep for the area and the wifi was not free.

Fire alarm went off at 5AM in the morning... and then it went off two more times at 6AM and 630AM as they attempted to reset it.  They also accidentally billed me for 2 movies that I didn't order.  Take my advice.. spend the extra $20/30 a night and stay at the Embassy Suites 2 blocks away.

Just to echo Mandy V.'s review - this hotel takes the title as worst hotel ever.  I was there for the bar exam and figured it couldn't be horrible.  Wrong.

Let me run through some of the problems with my $160 a night room: bug carcasses mixed in the sheets, bugs in the mattress, sticky carpet (ew!), huge stains on the carpet, mildew in the bathroom, electrical outlet missing a cover showing exposed wires, and general grime.

As nasty as the room was, I was more bothered by the sandpaper-like sheets and stiff towels than anything else.  I know it sounds like an exaggeration, but the sheets really had a abrasive texture that felt like someone was rubbing a scrubbing pad on you.  Awful.

Staff was fine, housekeeping was nice.  Absolutely horrible hotel.

This place is very good.... I love the work out room (Which is very important to me when I'm travelling for work).
The lobby is beautiful.... it's located close to a Starbucks AND a CVS; the restaurant inside is nice....
The rooms are just "OK".... but overall it is a nice alternative to the chain hotels... they just need to update the rooms.

This hotel is somewhat dated and dirty.  Ripped rugs, stains, etc...

My biggest complaint is with management and food/room service.  I sat in the nearly empty restaurant on Friday at 8pm for 20 minutes without being spoken to by a waiter or staff.  I asked the hostess who my waiter was and she said one would be with me in 10 minutes!

I left the restaurant and decided to order room service.  I was told 20 minutes for delivery.  It finally came after 3+ hours and 5 phone calls.  Evidently there were some honest mix ups by the kitchen staff and the computer.

In the middle of the 3+ hours I was once told it would be there in absolutely under 30 minutes.  She repeated it 3 times.

What irks me is they had the chef and the bus boy/runner phone me back as opposed to a manager with some balls. I am a fair guy (I even tipped the delivery guy $10 for his hustling).  But I found this service (or lack there of) amateur at best.

Mistakes get made, be a man and stand up for them.

Pardon the French . . . but this places sucks ze big one.  Hubby made reservations over the Internet using one of the travel sites.  Paid some ridiculous amount like $139.  The travel site called to confirm the reservations. We wanted to make sure they knew we would require a late arrival guarantee and travel site told hubby to call the hotel directly.  When he called the hotel they did not have the reservation.  They said it was probably just delayed in getting into the system and to check back.  Hubby checked back and it still wasn't there.  The hotel contacted the travel site and they confirmed the reservation.  Hotel said that they would "honor" the reservation and enter it into the system.  Hubby called back next day (day we would stay there) at 10:00 AM exactly as directed.  They still didn't have reservation in their system.  The person they said to contact wasn't in.  One person said that the contact wouldn't be in.  Another person said the contact would be in.  No one could help us.  Hubby was told to call back.  Adam's Mark asked for telephone number for the travel site.  They called hubby this time to say that they got the reservation information from the travel site.  Hubby called back two more times just to make sure it was in the system.

Checked in late and (thank goodness) our reservation was there.

I can't believe they actually made us pay for parking after what we paid for that cheap nasty room. It smelled bad.  The bathroom had mold (the kind that looked like black mold - perhaps it was) in the corners of the tub rim, on the curtain, and around the tub faucet.  There was also mold in other places in the tub.  Yuck, yuck, yuck.  The chairs in the bedroom were threadbare and the wooden arms were worn until the raw wood was coming through.  There were stains on the floor.  Some of which had a questionable color that made you wonder about their origin.  Don't even ask about the stains we say in the hallway.  Blech.

The beds were clean - although uncomfortable.  The TV only had a few stations - more like I'd expect at some seedy motel in a small town.  It was just gross.  I was expecting much better.  Even the cable for the "free high speed Internet" was sticky.  Gross . . . what was on it??!!??

I used to travel all the time for business.  If I walked into this place with the mold in the bathroom and the stains everywhere, I would have called the office and asked them to book me somewhere else.

Two thumbs way, way down.  To top things off there were smashed beer cans everywhere.  In the hallway.  In the elevator.  Nasty, nasty, nasty. To be fair, some of the cans were just empty and not smashed.

The icing on the cake?  The dipwads charged us for the room when they dropped off our final bill.  WHAT?????  After all that garbage about "honoring" our reservation made through a travel site they work with?  They bill us for the room knowing that we paid through a travel site?  Cripes!

Don't do it.  Don't do it.  Don't do it.  RUN (as fast as possible) to another hotel in Buffalo.  This place would get 1 star in my book.  I don't know who's paying someone to get the extra stars.

One of the worst hotels I have ever spent a night in, and unfortunately I had to spend 3.  The NY Bar exam was held here, so my husband and I thought it would be a good idea to stay here for the two days of the exam and one extra night so we wouldn't have to leave right after the exam was over.  We booked through a travel site, so the first two nights were "only" $120 dollars, and we called later to add another night which cost $200!  I thought that was ok, I figured it would be a really nice place.  I was totally wrong... the lobby and the restaurant area are ok but not really nice, they've certainly seen better days.  The fitness room is ok, I did actually enjoy the sauna, but the pool is tiny and cold, there are stains everywhere and the entire hotel smells old and bad.  Most of the common areas are seriously cold, but then the rooms - at least the room we were in was uncomfortably warm.  And loud, with the highway right there.  And run-down and seedy looking.  And small.  And parking costs $10 a night to park in a ridiculously creepy parking garage - you would think for that price they could afford security cameras, but instead they just printed out a lot of signs to warn you to lock your car doors because there has been a lot of carjacks lately.  Classy.

Oh and the TVs sucked.  And the room service was ridiculously expensive.  And there were bugs in the rooms.  Generally not in good repair, and dirty.  I am SO angry that I paid this much money to stay here.  If it had cost less I wouldn't have cared - it's not the worst place ever - but it was incredibly stupidly expensive, and I am so mad about it.

This place was awful! The rooms are outdated. The carpet in the hallways had stains from what I assume was barf. The room air conditioning was loud and outdated. And to top it off there were stains all over not only the bed linens, but also on the mattress cover. We changed hotels right away. There are plenty of other hotels in the area and I would suggest you find one of those instead of wasting your money and possibly your health by staying here.

This review is based on the quality of the room only. We stayed here, arranged by our tour agent. I was not impressed by the hotel. From the outside, it looked pretty good. The lobby actually was ok looking with a nice chandelier.

THe room we had was in poor shape. It smelled in there. I had to leave the AC on for about 30 minutes cicrulating some air inside. The furniture seem kind of old. TV was also bulky and old, not updated. The carpet seemed in dire need of replacing.

I manually adjusted the wall therometer to the mid 60s degrees but after a little while it defaults back to the 70s. I'd wake up in the middle of the night a bit stuffed up in there.

For a night in Buffalo, I have few complaints.  Especially because I picked up this hotel for $34 + tax on Priceline, and it was only a mile or so from the venue where I was seeing one of my favorite bands.  The real bummer was that it was $10 to park overnight, so the price of the hotel went up by almost 30%.  Kind of ridiculous when there's tons of street parking everywhere else.  Oh, and this hotel has yet to upgrade their TVs to plasma/LCD.

I GOT BED BUGS!!!! I understand that bed bugs are not the fault of the hotel and it is extremely difficult to get rid of them. I woke up with bites all over my arm (in groups of 3 in a straight line, classic sign of bed bugs). My issue is that I called the hotel the next day to warn them about their bed bug problem and they didn't want to hear about it. I did not want any sort of retribution or refund (not that they even offered), all I wanted was to inform them of the issue so they could make sure they fixed the issue for the next guest who had to stay in that room. I told the operator I received bites, and she said "sorry about that, hope you have a good rest of your day." I said "WAIT WAIT don't hang up, don't you want to know my name so you can look up what room I stayed in so that you can take care of the mattress???" She said "oh yeah what room did you stay in?" I said I did not remember the number, but I could give her my name so she could look it up in the system. She said "ok what's your name?" Before I was done stating my name she said "ok thanks, sorry about this" and hung up. I know for a fact she didn't write it down because my last name is long and most people have to ask me how to spell it. I couldn't believe it. I feel awful for the next person to stay in that room. Again, bed bugs are not the fault of the hotel, but how you deal with it once you are aware of the problem is. Meanwhile I still have welts all over my arm a week later.  I DO NOT recommend this hotel.

Definitely not a 3 star hotel as it's well past it's prime. We stayed two nights during a weekend getaway on the recommendation of a friend who grew up in Buffalo. She probably remembers it 20 years ago when it might have been nice. Now it's just dated and noisy. Road noise, AC noise, noisy people in the hallway through the door noise. Also, my wife and I were given a room with two (uncomfortable) doubles instead of a queen or a king. And an old school tube TV that randomly shuts off on its own. Seems like there are plenty of other decent downtown hotels, although most were sold out our weekend. (We tried moving mid trip.)

The Adam's Mark Hotel is the worst hotel in Buffalo - we had a conference there this past spring and it was a DISASTER with a capital D - the rooms were filthy, the escalator broke down, the conference management was a joke.  The only positive was the chef and the food!
