Half the store is produce, good quality and affordable produce.  The remainder of the store is like mini specialty shops all in one place.  Not a lot of frozen, but with all this wonderful fresh food here, who needs frozen?!?

I shop there every weekend with only half a list because I truly get inspired walking down the aisles.

Even though Adams is a specialty store, it isn't pricey.  They have higher end stuff if you want to choose those, but also have many of the regular items for normal folks.

Do I appreciate Adams? As Sarah Palin might say, "You betcha!" If we didn't have Adams, we would be stuck in the dark ages. However, I would sell out Adams in a heart beat for a Whole Foods or even better a New Seasons. Adams' organic produce is wiggity wiggity wack. The variety is lacking and most items are over priced. 6.00$ for two peppers. Homie don't play that!

Oh Adam's, don't want you want to open a satellite location in Onondaga County?? Since relocating to central NY, when I am driving through the area, or remotely close, a stop off the Newburgh exit of the NYS Thruway is mandatory! My hubby (who is on board with that plan) and kids know this is the deal! The kids don't see what the excitement is about, they will in about 10-20 years, when they appreciate food more!

They have some of the best subs that I have had. They use Boar's Head. The portions are generous and the price is reasonable for a sub. Huge selection of condiments and toppings you can get on the subs.

A stop always includes stocking up on their S'Mores cookies and freezing them. They have some other baked goods that are pretty good.

They have a great produce selection with some great prices.
Good selection of cheeses and some local products as well.

Their nursery is also a good size with good selection and reasonable prices.

We last stopped right before Christmas. We were on our way home from a cruise that left out of NJ. They had Santa with a sleigh set up and were taking pictures of the kids with him and printing them out. I thought that was a nice little extra! It made me appreciate the store that much more.

*They do have a Kingston location that I have not been to in years, I personally think that one has a better bakery selection.

I'm moving to NYC and I am going to miss Adam's more than anything. I'm always surprised about how inexpensive everything is when I'm at the register. I started buying the ready made crab cakes and shrimp/scallop cakes and they are delicious and so cheap! Their baked goods are awesome too. Peach pie... mmmmmm.
If I'm driving up 87 in the future, I could see myself  pulling off the highway and stopping there for my favorite treats because it's that good.

Don't go there. Especially on a Saturday.

When I'm on a schedule and trying to fight 10 other soccer moms for the produce and I'm hovering over a quickly dwindling pyramid of local grown, fat breasty tomatoes that I want to bite into  and eat right there, dripping tomato juice down to my elbows and rolling on the floor into complete oblivion clutching a salt shaker and ravaged tomato.

Um yea-their stuff is no good
Seriously, don't go there. It's terrible.

    Adams = Quality!

This place is the luxury line of supermarkets and it has pretty much everything.  If you are organic/natural foods kind of person you will like this place as they try to stock tons of local produce from area farms.

They have produce, florist, bakery, supermarket items and even some household miscellaneous stuff (that I honestly never really look at; the market is my poison here).

This place will appeal the average shopper, the organic buff and even the conservationist as they ask you, "paper or plastic" upon check-out (which we never hear anymore).  This place is truly amazing, check it out for yourself.

Wow, this is a great grocery store.  The produce is great, and the selection of fruits and veggies is incredible.  At Adams, you can also find tons of freshly baked goods from rolls, bagels, and bialys to cakes, cookies, and pies.  Their Italian loafs are great too!

The deli section has a fantastic selection of meats and cheeses, and you can find all sorts of prepared foods as well.

If you don't love Adam's, you're not human.

    There, I said it.

From healthy-looking, leafy vegetables and fruit that never look old (I saw some terribly sad looking lemons in ShopRite the other day - seriously, lemons shouldn't look that way), to a great bakery and a wonderful international foods section, Adams is a great place to buy your groceries.  Sure, they're more expensive than some stores in the area, but I personally find them to be worthwhile.  They're really a gem of a store, more like a large farmer's market than a grocery.

The only thing that keeps me from doing regular, full-on shopping here is that they don't carry non-food items, such as paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, laundry detergent, etc.  But other than that minor caveat, Adam's is terrific.  I can even sing the jingle for you if you want!

A word of caution: don't come here right before a major holiday, because the place is chaotic and you will never find a parking spot.  Either that, or some random guy in a minivan will back up without looking and will nearly plow into your car while his wife screams at him from the passenger's seat.  Tidings of comfort and joy, indeed.

    Great Food Shopping location!
Fresh produce all year around and a lot of local produce - VERY GOOD.  Amazing bakery selection, plus hundreds and hundres of cheeses, very good deli counter, a lot of imported european goodies that you can't find anywhere else or just in health food stores. And a lot of prices are better than in health food stores.
Great selection of meats and seafood and dairy...
ALso best selection for real lycorice lovers.(Imported as well)
Shopping there from time to time even its not closest to us.
Their garden center is little too expensive but you can find few "fancy" items in there that you may buy anyway because you like it :)

Whenever I come to Adams I am reminded of what a grocery store should be. Clean, great selection and many specialty items. They have great produce, a great fish department, butcher, bakery and deli. There's also a gift center and a plant center.

If you need to find something that you can't get in the regular supermarkets, take a look here, because they probably have it.

Adam's is the best because it's a grocery store that has amazingly fresh produce, an entire gardening section, an awesome little candy store, fresh meats and seafood, a really cute cafe with baked goods, not to mention the regular food items you can find anywhere ... all while maintaining a very small mom-and-pop atmosphere.

I loved it here. I usually hate grocery shopping, but I always looked forward to coming to Adam's. It's a must if you live nearby.

A fabulous grocery store - a gourmet place - great deli and cheeses, seafood and meat. I drive plast three big grocery stores to get to Adams. Worth the trip!!  The produce is terrific and there is a lot of local produce there as well.
Salad bar is available in addition to a gift shop and gardening center, its a one stop shop.  Produce is perfect as well.

I like this Adams better than the Poughkeepsie store. This store has the better bakery. Apple crisp pie. Apple brown betty pie. A display case full of cookies and tarts. Turn around the corner and there's donuts and croissants. Even if I saw an apple crisp pie at Hannaford grocery stores, I'd hesitate, thinking Adams is much better.

However, corporate chain grocery stores are better at providing the dry goods you need at a cheaper price. Adams is best for fresh produce.

Besides seasonal farmers' markets, who else sells Macoun apples?

    Adams'

Have I told you lately...that I love you?

Have I told you there's no one else above you?

Fill my world with gladness, take away all my sadness,
ease my troubles...that's what you do.

Seriously, sometimes I get upset if I think that a store might not have the potato chips I want and love. I HATE shitty selection of potato chips, and thank God Adams' has a good one. I can go in an look at the plethora of salty fantasticness & always find something good.

Let's talk about something that people probably a give a sh*t more about than potato chips.

Adam's has an amazing selection of great produce all year round, at decent prices. The quality of the food you can find here is outrageously good, and when I'm home in PA I travel with the moms over 45 minutes just to go here.

That's right- I skip the suck f*cky Price Chopper down the road just to be dazzled by Adams'.

Also Adams' has a great little section of gadgets- like a tomato shaped plastic tomato holder. That's right- it keeps your tomatoes fresh. And if you are like me and eat tomatoes like apples or eat tomatoes like it's going out of style- buy one. They even have an ONION one. Pf! I've always found some nifty penny saving gadget here that makes my kitchen that much cooler, handier, and more efficient.

The bakery has the best breads, the cheese selections are outrageous, the organic choices here are superb & the vegetarian choices are plentiful.

I also like to saunter into the little gift shop area. I went absolutely nuts at Halloween time and filled a cart full of freaking decorations. They were so cool. I couldn't help myself.

Above all else- their selection of local food is quite large. Nothing more satisfying than supporting local growers and businesses-which helps take a bite out of corporate monsters. Love it.

You should go here. Trust me.

What's not to like about Adams?  Great produce all year, and during the summer months, lots of local fresh produce.  Better than traveling around to the local farmers' markets, both for price and selection!

Grocery selection is very good.  Lots of unique stuff, great cheese selection, outstanding fresh fish and meat departments.  The staff has always been very helpful.  The bakery and candy shop has some amazing stuff as well.  You can get apple cider doughnuts hot during the spring and summer on weekends.  Definitely not the cheapest on items from the grocery aisles, but the meat and seafood departments have some great deals if you keep an eye out.  They have an amazing selection of turkeys around the holidays - 10 pages of turkeys, and you can pre-order for a fresh local non-factory turkey.  Tasty, and not as expensive as you might think.

Now onto the plants, outdoor and nursery departments.  Adams is where we go first for plants.  The nursery is the best in the Newburgh area for selection, and price when it comes to plants.  Other stuff like fertilizer, soil, or tools, not so great on price, but that's to be expected.  Folks out in the nursery are very helpful.

Adams has been one of our favorite finds in the area.  Fun to visit even if you aren't doing your grocery shopping.  They also do classic car drive-ins during the summer that are a good time.

Adams is a great place to shop.  They offer a 10% discount on Wednesdays too if I remember correctly.  I used to shop here for quality organic and LOCAL produce,  goods, plants, decorations..etc.

Staff was friendly and the prices were good.  They had TONS OF LOCAL PRODUCE and LOCAL FOOD.  Please support them if you're in the area.

I do like this store but you have to watch the expiration dates esp. on the bakery goods. The economy must be affecting them too as they are selling expired food. I spoke up to one employee working in the bakery area about the expired dates and she just said, "we'll change them later" and walked off as if it was no big deal.  If I'm going to pay high prices for things they better not be expired.

Adams is what grocery stores market themselves as now a days.  But unlike other, Adams delivers.  But it doesn't deliver on its promises of fresh produce, diverse items, and local, outstanding quality as part of some new marketing initiative; its been doing all of this since it opened circa 1997.  From the grocery items, to produce, to the bakery, everything is great and still affordable.  Most of the stuff here you can get in the city, but for up here its one of the only of its kind.  But then again, things here tend to be fresher because they're fresher from the farms they come from.  If you live nearby and really enjoy food, make sure to go check it out.

My wife is from the west coast and completely spoiled by the fresh produce there. She smiles easily and often and so even though she hated the produce in Yonkers, she smiled and went along like a trooper. When we moved to Newburgh and discovered Adams, she smiled a smile that I had never seen before. Fresh everything and helpful staff. Conveniently located with lots of parking. Come for the wide variety of beautiful, fresh produce and the tempting bakery delights. Fresh, local, organic meats and fish will make you a believer! Did i mention that it's all so fresh?
