Review from Allison L.

After struggling with a Morton's Neuroma for over a year (and visiting a particular quack podiatrist in SF who happened to make it worse), I decided to try acupuncture as a potential path of treatment. I was blown away after my first treatment. Adam started with an in-depth assessment/interview of my symptoms, pain levels / type / areas, and my history with treating the neuroma. He was able to place points that immediately alleviated the pain and inflammation in my foot - after each point, I experienced significant relief. I've been continuing treatment with Adam 1 - 2 times a week since then, and I honestly don't believe that any other treatment or practitioner could have had as much success with treating my neuroma as Adam has. Being able to be active on my feet again has meant so much to me, and I have only Adam to thank for getting me back to a happier place.
I also decided that I wanted help with smoking cessation and looked to acupuncture as a supplementary aid. Adam coached me through the process even beyond the acupuncture. He gave me tips for how to rid my home/life of negative influences and even referred me to a hypno-therapist that ultimately helped with getting me to commit to quitting. The acupuncture helped with the dreaded detoxification, and he even put in acupressure points while I went on vacation so I could continue treatment from abroad. I'm proud to say I've been smoke free for 31 days and counting!
In addition to my various treatments, Adam has a wonderful demeanor and beside manner. I definitely look forward to each appointment, as I know that I'm in great hands, and the benefits of the treatment are always immediate and sustaining. Highly, highly recommend! -

I injured my back playing volleyball back in high school and every few years I'll do something to tweak it again. Recently it happened and I went to Adam based on his Yelp reviews.
Adam found the spasms and educated me on how my muscles were spasming to protect the old injury, thus causing discomfort with the nerve. 2 treatments later and I was able to put my own socks on and walk to work pain free.
Hopefully I won't have any more issues in the future but if I do I'll be sure to pay Adam a visit. -

When it comes to accupuncture I've had a range of experiences; some mediocre, some bad... I was at the point I was done with accupuncture, but it wasn't to be.
I had shoulder surgery in December and was going through physical therapy when one of my colleagues told me about Adam; I was highly sceptical but she had nothing but good things to say about him, so I scheduled an appointment. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I saw him for about 6 weeks and I am still amazed at how much quicker my recovery has been as a result of our sessions. My range of motion has increased significantly and the pain has lessened.
Adam has this calm, reassuring way about him, he is attentive and, most importantly, he's happy to answer any questions about what he is doing and why... and I do ask a lot of questions... -

Adam is very caring, knowledgeable, patient, and thorough. He helped me reduce my allergy problems, and also picked up on a potentially-serious problem that my internist (who is generally quite good) had somehow missed. Thanks Adam!

Every year I get this horrific damp cough that takes several weeks to cure. This year, it got to a point where I couldn't get two sentences out before hacking up a storm. I went to Adam for one session and he sent me home with some Chinese herbs. I immediately felt better after and my cough started to dissipate over the next several days. Adam really helped pinpoint (no pun intended) the areas that helped boost my immunity which led to a faster recovery. Thanks so much Adam!!!

Adam is a great acupuncturist. I've seen him for a number of different issues. Adam's always listened, asked lots of questions and spent a lot of time with me. He'd follow up a few days later to see how things are going. I had a problem that my doctor wanted to put me on another pill. I really didn't want another pill, so I gave Adam a shot. After a few sessions with Adam, no more problem, no expensive meds.
Good bed side manner, and it doesn't hurt a bit. -

Adam helped me deal with my recurring ankle issues. In summary, he is conscientious, combines his EXCELLENT knowledge of human physiology with eastern medicine, cares about his patients who he treats like CLIENTS, and most importantly, isn't afraid to look something up if he needs to.
Unlike almost every doctor I've ever been to, Adam follows up, has a convenient scheduling system and does his best to accommodate your busy schedule. He takes care of the insurance for you and doesn't surprise you with charges you don't recognize later.
If your western Doc isn't cutting it, give Adam a try, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised. -

I enjoy working with Adam, not only because he is a very pleasant person, but because he listens intently to what you tell him and then he listens deeply to your pulses ( actually even more dedicatedly than any other acupuncturist has ever done before) and then he has knowledge and capability to treat your issues and symptoms accordingly.
He has a clarity about his energy that allows him to be very effective in his work...and I highly recommend his services! -

For two months, I was having on-again, off-again back-aches that radiated an unpleasant, tingly, numb sensation down my arms and to my wrist. Before I visited Adam, I had gone to another acupuncturist that was "in-network" via Aetna. After five (5) sessions and $150 of co-pays, the pain was still there. I had doubts about acupuncture's efficacy. Then, I found Adam. He had excellent Yelp reviews and was located near my office downtown. I'm happy to say that Adam has made me a believer in acupuncture. He applied procedures that my previous acupuncturist did not perform. Adam applied electric current to the needles. That really worked on my back-ache. Adam also applied acu-pressure, which felt like a really nice deep tissue massage. He's got good, strong hands! Excellent bedside manners. He's very handsome too. Prompt billing (I received the paperwork necessary for insurance claim the very next day via mail). Adam definitely deserves his five stars. I highly recommend him to anyone.

There's no doubt that if it's acupuncture you're seeking, Adam is the one and only answer. His interest and wisdom are 100% genuine, his skill and care are like none other. He's particularly well-equipped to treat the whole person, to take your immediate concerns seriously, work through those to achieve optimum overall health in the long run. Adam is serious, committed, caring, and he'll have you back to your best self in no time.
I came to Adam initially for chronic back and wrist pain, which subsided after about 4 sessions. I look forward to visiting Adam again and again in the future for all my health concerns. -

Fall 2007 was an incredibly stressful time for me. I was overloaded at work, had a travel schedule from hell, and was working through some personal drama. As a result I ended up with severe acne of biblical proportions. Therefore, I was more stressed leading to more acne. Yes, it was bad.
Cut to Adam Wiscomb.....a good friend recommended that I visit Adam given his experience in treating digestive ailments through acupuncture. At first I was hesitant, but since my goofy deramtologist's medication wasn't doing jack I thought it was worth a shot to visit Adam. I'm so glad I did.
Adam is an incredibly patient and compassionate acupuncturist; he was very concerned about my well-being and helped me understand the brass tacks without overwhelming me. He was able to diagnose my problem soon and recommended a major overhaul of my diet, changes to my skincare regimen, and some Chinese herbal medication all of which expedited my recovery. He was willing to work with me on my pace, was very flexible and understanding given my tempestuous work schedule, and was able to put me to sleep with needles all over my body -- I don't care what anybody says, this shit works.
It took a few months to see results, but I am happy to say that I'm now acne-free, happy and I owe it to Adam. I would marry him if I could, but he is straight and taken. Story of my life. I've been raving about Adam Wiscomb to anybody that will listen to me. Listen to me, stop looking now. Go to Adam! -

I've been to Adam on multiple occasions, not because I was in pain or feeling ill, but because I was feeling stressed.. a lot of stress. The marvelous thing about Adam is how calm and reassuring he is. When you walk in, you feel a very peaceful environment and begin to relax and let the outside world fade away.
Adam's professionalism is truly top notch. You are treated with the utmost respect and consideration for your privacy. You will feel a perfect sense of trust with Adam right away. This is really important to me, and I am sure it is for many others as well.
Adam is very caring and totally attuned to you during your session. After his treatment, I felt totally relaxed and calm, with all the prior stress melted away! I wish I could have a treatment evey day with Adam!
I recommend Adam to all my friends frequently. And I will be seeing him for many more stress relieving treatments in the future. It's better than a two hour massage.. and much less expensive! -

Adam Wiscomb, LAc., has been treating me for over a year. He has become my primary care physician, and I see him for everything! He has helped with my allergies, intestinal problems, blood pressure, and a paralyzed wrist!
Not only does he know acupuncture and herbal medicine, but his skills at reading pulse are amazing. He can always tell if I have been eating too much wheat, or am stressed out about anything. His calm, caring attitude and ability to explain everything well makes me feel well cared for. And my good overall health is the result!

Adam is a very easy person to relate to. At our first meeting it was easy to see how happy and conscious he is. He helped me with some pain I had from running a marathon. After spending time finding out more about my life habits, we went into treatment. The treatment room was very comfortable making it easy to forget we were in a busy downtown location. Adam was very knowledgeable on pressure points to help with my recovery. After my first treatment, I was back to 100% recovery and ready for my next race. I would highly recommend anyone with pain to go see Adam.

Bottom line: Amazing doctor, serious and professional (no metaphysical nonsense), affordable.
I've had a few problems in the last years due to my excessive parting in the woods with my friend "el mono" and the rest of the lovely animals of the forest. I had a bad snowboarding injury in my foot, another injury in my thumb and a few digestive problems (I sometimes eat my friends when I get too crazy).
I went to see Dr. Wiscomb looking for an alternative to the many unsuccessful treatments I received at Kaiser. I did not know much about acupuncture before I saw Adam, I was not a skeptic, but neither a 'believer'.
Dr. Wiscomb is an outstanding professional, a careful listener, and an amazing health provider. He does his homework and research and he is always 100% prepared for whatever weird issue I bring him.
I have had amazing success with his acupuncture treatments on all my injuries, as well as with other issues involving herbal treatments.
It is amazing the things he can treat. If you are looking for an alternative to traditional drug-based medicine, Adam is your man. -

I have a very active mind. The 30 minutes a week I spend stretched out on the table at Middlepath Acupuncture Clinic are literally changing the way I approach mental health. With needles in place, soothing music playing in the background, I am engaging my body's innate ability to find balance and wellness.
As a member of Healthy San Francisco, my visits are completely covered. Adam and I have laid out a 3 month plan of weekly visits to target several health issues, and after only two treatments, I am already feeling more aligned and empowered. Adam represents a new breed of enlightened health practitioners: patient, kind, unhurried, loving, and genuine.
I especially recommend his services to anyone involved in the hospitality industry. High stress, late nights, heavy drinking and drugging will take its toll on your health. Acupuncture is a safe and affordable healing modality that can gently bring you back to center. -

I came to see Adam in September of 2009 because I was having terrible back problems, due to a relapsed /previous injury. I was just beginning my second year of graduate school, and was considering the possibility of having to drop out to avoid permanent damage to my body. I did not see how it would be possible for my injury to heal while working the 80-90 hour work weeks that my coursework demanded. Adam's treatments were VERY effective and helped me get through a seemingly impossible time. For three months following my first visit I saw him an average of once a week. After our sessions, the muscles of my back became loose and supple to allow for healing and re-strengthening.
Going into my spring semester, the pain I experience has gone from debilitating to almost un-noticable. I am now on my own program for back health (yoga and swimming) and will come to see him occasionally for maintenance.
I would recommend Adam to anyone for nearly any health issue. He is a truly gifted healer. In the presence of Adam, you get the feeling that he finds great purpose and fulfillment in his practice. The quality of his care is exceptional. -

I am new to acupuncture and Adam has made the introduction really positive. I'm hooked!
Adam is incredibly smart, compassionate, thorough, takes the time to explain what he is doing and why, very passionate about his work, a pleasure to work with and his pricing is very reasonable.
I started seeing Adam for help to quit smoking and help with my overall energy levels . His help and support have been invaluable.
I really can't recommend Adam enough!! -

here's one more 5-star rating for Adam.
Adam is simply wonderful. He listens, he asks the right questions, he's smart, he cares, he's passionate about what he does, he always gives 100%, he's kind, he's GOOD at what he does. He considers the body holistically, not as a sum of separate, independent parts, and adjusts his approach and technique based on the needs.
I have only been seeing Adam for a few weeks for several ongoing issues. Every visit has felt very safe, welcoming and relaxing (yes, even with needles poked all over my body), and every time i walk out of his office i feel renewed, re-energized, more alive and more free. I am finally thinking that maybe i won't have to live in pain the rest of my life after all.
I highly recommend Adam, he is all good energy, the quality of his care is exceptional. You won't regret it. -

I've struggled my whole life searching for reprieve from chronic bad health-- migraines, low energy, abdominal pain, the list goes on. I've struggled through the perils of western medicine-- repeated misdiagnosis, treatments with awful medicines that had more negative side effects than positive benefits, and a general inability of any doctor to remotely identify the cause of symptoms negatively effecting my health.
With an intuitive healing ability and a high level of skill, Adam was able to determine in just a few visits that I had food sensitivities, resulting in chronic digestive distress and a slew of related problems. Working with him through regular treatments and following his suggestions about nutrition and dietary choices has profoundly improved my physical and mental well being (words cannot say!).
In addition to being treated for digestive imbalance, I have seen him for help with colds, stress, and skin problems (generally anytime I have an health issue, I go see him) and his treatments have greatly eased symptoms and decreased recovery time. His manner is professional, attentive, and kind. I have been to other acupuncturists and naturopaths as well in the past, and while I did find some relief from their treatments I was not as consistently satisfied with the quality of their care and results were not as readily apparent.
Adam has the touch! He has been such a positive force in my life and I am so thankful to be in his care. What more can I say?-- He's fabulous! -

For the past ten years, I have recieved acupuncture treatments for everything from allergies, migraines and back pain. After moving from the east coast I met Adam Wiscomb and began acupuncture treatments with him this past year. He is incredible! He is patient and understanding and very gentle with the needles. Most recently he helped me with a tremendous back pain. I could barely walk but after seeing him a few times that week I was amazingly better. I couldn't thank him enough.
His gentle, caring nature and professional demeanor would comfort even the biggest needle phob! -

Adam is the fourth acupuncturist I have gone to and although I felt the first 3 had alot to recommend them, he is the one that truly marries the skills of and sensibilities of multiple healing modalities. I appreciate that he uses chinese traditional healing arts with a more modern techniques to incorporate into his treatments for the best outcome. He brings something very comprehensive to his treatments and the results are clearly observable. I have been a 'complex case' - my description, not his and yet he has been able to get some real traction on my issues - at least those within the realm of where acupuncture can have an impact. Most notably, my sleep has improved considerably - you know when you are better when you have forgotten what health problems you once had, i.e they are no longer getting your attention having been resolved. The level at which acupuncture engages to rebalance and restore health and function is a powerful point Adam taps. I trust him for his brains, skills, experience and intuitive senses he brings to bear. I consider him a great resource.

It is clear that Adam's heart is truly in what he does. I had no idea what to expect on my first visit to acupuncture. He was warm, present, and patient with me, and I felt very comfortable going over my medical history. His office is more like a serene oasis - very welcoming and peaceful. He is professional, extremely knowledgeable, and above all, kind. He honors his patients as unique individuals deserving of his time and attention. It's clear that he sees his practice as his purpose on Earth. By the end of my first session, a euphoric calmness ran through my body as soft music played in the background. It was a great first experience, and I'm headed back for more treatments this week!

Adam is simply fantastic. He is so knowledgeable, caring, and patient. I had a chronic shoulder injury for five years and two MRI's , countless trips to physical therapy, and even cortisone shots still left me without any relief. I went to see Adam and in just 4 visits I felt more strength, flexibility, and relief than I did for the previous 5 years. I can now throw a ball and swim for triathlons. You won't find a better acupuncturist than Adam, and his prices are very fair too!

My left shoulder has been bothering me on and off for over 4 years now. I mention the problem to my general practioner during my annual visits and each time he runs some simple range of motion tests and prescribes "rest" for my shoulder. As a young active individual, I cannot stand to be idle and need my exercise!
I decided that I needed to find someone that is willing to take more time to diagnose my injury and provide me with hollistic solutions (i think meds and surgery are a last resort).
With Adam, he took the time to figure out my concerns and addressed every question that I had. When he addressed my ailment, he found that it was actually a problem stemming from a tight muscle in my lower shoulder that was causing the pain in the joint. After my first treatment, the shoulder feels substantially better and I am on my way to maintaining my active lifestyle.
I will keep you posted on my progress after follow-up visits. -

Without a doubt, Adam is clearly one of the best! I have been a patient for just over a year and have seen Adam for colds, sinus problems, and knee pain. My immune system suffers quite a bit due to my busy travel schedule.
Adam's knowledge of Chinese medicine and culture is extremely impressive - it takes a lot to impress me :)
If you are looking for a practitioner who is vibrant, friendly, gentle and most of all intelligent, Adam is your man! -

Adam is really great!! I have never had acupuncture before but he's really calm and explains everything. He really cares about his patients and always checks on you. I don't see the need of seeing my actual doctor anymore since Adam has actually become my primary doctor. Whenever I go see him, he will ask about my overall health and make sure I am doing ok. He has helped a lot with my sleep and anxiety problems. I'm trying to make some changes to my eating habits as well and he's been a great help. It's really nice to have a doctor/acupuncturist who truly cares about his patients and Adam definitely does. If you're looking for a great acupuncturist, contact Adam.

Middle Path Acupuncture (Adam Wiscomb) delivers. I thought it was rather miraculous that Adam solved what had been a chronic pain problem in 60 minutes, but first you need to know the background. I have been a runner for many years and thought I had a stress fracture in my right foot. After ignoring the pain for weeks (hoping it would go away) and not running since it hurt too much, I finally visited a well recommended podiatry clinic in SF. They followed the standard (expensive) Western medical protocol by taking 4 x-rays of my foot and then informed me they couldn't see any fracture. "Take 600 mg of Ibuprofen 3 times a day and see us again in 2 weeks". When that didn't help and the podiatrist suggested an MRI, I decided to take a time out from the Western approach. If you haven't had acupuncture, the process is very cool. For this type of injury, the primary focus involves the careful insertion of about 8 very thin needles into different locations on the left hand (seriously). I'm skimming over everything that Adam did, but the end of the story is that when I left Adam's office, for the first time in over 3 months, i no longer had any pain in my foot. When it comes to soft tissue injuries or chronic pain, I plan to use Adam again whenever possible.

After years of seeing naturopaths, kinesiologists, western doctors and massage therapists I finally found Adam. It took only three sessions with him to fix my issues entirely. Seriously? Had I known what I know now from the beginning I could have saved myself much in the way of time and money. What I love about Adam is how balanced he is. As a practitioner he is scientific and precise. As a person... well... let's just say it takes a special someone to make you feel entirely comfortable openly discussing both your physical and mental issues. Adam is entirely interested and compassionate when it comes to hearing his clients. Every session I leave feeling like a new person - peaceful, grounded, rested. It's pretty amazing what 30 minutes to an hour can do.

There I was, flat on my back since Friday afternoon, suffering with bad lower back pain. Armed only with Percacet, some perscription anti-inflamatories, muscle balm laced with THC, ice packs, in short everything one tries when one finds oneself in that situation, all to little or no avail! I was at the point where a dull ache was better than a sharp pain but still miserable none-the-less. It was so painful I felt the need to cancel my initial session with Dr. Adam on Monday. That's when the miracle happened, or at least started to happen. He suggested a house call, no your eyes are not deceiving you, he came to my place! Good thing I was already lying down or I would have passed out! After some initial paperwork, questions, poking, prodding he inserted needles into my feet and hands. I know, what the hell do needles in my extremities have to do with my back? Well, as it turned out, lots! Within minutes the pain was gone, within an hour I was able to sit up and walk around and today I was out and about as if the weekend from hell had never happened!! Adam in not a Licensed Acupuncturist, he is an Angel of Mercy!
I've had acupuncture before but nothing even closely resembling these results. So I say unto thee, get thee to Adam if thou art suffering like I was, it will be the best decision you'll ever make! Adam, from the bottom of my heart and back, THANK YOU! -

An avid rock climber, injury is a constant concern of mine. Despite some falls, I've bounced back, until a debilitating shoulder injury that I couldn't explain. I couldn't even lift my cell phone to my ear or carry a cup of coffee. I didn't think going to the hospital would do much, and decided to try acupuncture. After the first session, I was suprised at the almost instant improvement. Adam was very thorough in his evaluation and procedure and very professional. He listened, like, really listened, to my activities and the strain that I put on my body and with a knowing smile, clearly and accurately diagnosed what I had no idea about. I was astounded. After 5 weeks of steady work, my shoulder is almost back to new. I am convinced that he is the best and only acupuncturist that I will see.
