I called Adam twice. The first time he talked to me on the phone for over 20 minutes, and he gave me information and references.
The second time I place a voice message and he called me back that same evening. Once again, he was really helpful, knowledgeable, and professional.
I would highly recommend Adam as an attorney. -

Adam is the best. I am very glad to have found Adam on Yelp and his reviews...these reviews helped me made a very sound decision. I agree with these positive reviews 100%.
Adam is down to earth and tells you as it is. His office and work style does not give any sense of intimidation. What also amazes me is Adam's vast knowledge of the law and the court system. Adam helped me go through all the vast daunting legal paperwork...Adam makes doing the paperwork look so easy. In addition to that, he EXPLAINS the law CLEARLY and UNDERSTANDABLY.
I definitely would refer Adam to friends in need...I am yet to finish my current legal matter but Adam is the guy to go to until the end.
To sum it up for Adam - he is efficient, knowledgeable, very honest, and very cost-efficient.

Excellent experienced attorney that will defend your and your child interests at reasonable cost. I had difficult lengthy case which Adam helped to handle professionally and personally. I would recomend Adam to my best friend and would always see legal service from him if needed.

I contacted Mr. Gurley, Adam, regarding a family law/ custody issue and I am so thankful I found him. He returned my call immediately and we met that afternoon. Adam immediately understood the complex issue and put my mind at ease with his candor and next steps.
Adam has also gone to great lengths to provide service that I could afford but the quality is unmatched in my experience- more then I have wanted!
I will always look to Adam to provide legal help and would refer my best friend to him.

I found Adam on Yelp! He responded to my e-mail within a couple of hours with TONS of useful information. We set an appointment to discuss my case the next day. He is OUTSTANDING! Very smart, knowledgeable, extremely efficient. Finished all the paperwork in minutes, that would have taken we weeks to research and weeks to fill out. Very honest, experienced, tells you things the way they are , not the way you want to hear them. Great attorney! Highly recommend him! He has this wonderful 2 months old puppy in his office. When you hold this sweet thing, your stress disappears. Amazing!

Adam was super helpful in every way possible. He not only provided me with samples of forms and how to properly fill them out, but he described to me what I can expect to have happen. And it doesn't end there, he also offered to look over any forms before submission to the court via e-mail. All of that without requesting one single penny! It's nice to know that there are attorney's like him still willing to help the community in an over the phone consultation without insisting upon a face to face meeting that will cost you $375 per hour like some of the other 5 star attorney's listed on here. Thanks Adam. Your advice was helpful and spot on. If I ever need actual representation, I will definitely be calling you!

Adam is a very effective and cost-effective family lawyer. He is scrappy and pragmatic, and he understands the system as well as any high-priced attorney out there. His rates are low, he looks for ways to get you good results for less money, and he does not undertake work that will not be cost-effective.
As an attorney myself, I initially felt that I needed a top-of-the-line, downtown lawyer. I hired one, and she battled every point tooth and nail as though I had unlimited resources. But Family Law litigation is pretty down and dirty -- it turned out that doing things to the nth degree did not ensure good results with the judge. It did ensure a very high bill.
When I brought in Adam, he took a much more practical approach. Sometimes I thought he was being overly cynical, only to see that he knew how the system really works, and was just being practical, trying to save me money, and trying to get the best results out of a broken system.
Before you sign up with an expensive, downtown family lawyer, you should at least talk to Adam. You may end up with the same (or better) results, and you could end up saving many thousands of dollars. -

Adam was very knowledgeable and simplified the process for me, and also professionally represented me in a court appearance. He knows who the players are in the family court arena, and has the respect of the judges that we dealt with. No one wants to go through these difficult changes, but Adam was all business and right to the point, he is also very affordable and a cool guy. I recommend him highly. JL

Adam Gurley was referred to me and he was an excellent choice for my divorce case. I especially liked that he totally dealt with the divorce difficulties and focused on the financial aspects, just as he said he would. Some lawyers try to be cozy or emotionally involved with what the client is going through, which redirects the office time spent. Adam is friendly yet professional, with a relaxed office atmosphere that makes you feel at ease from the start. I needed someone very skilled in this area of the law and Adam did a great job.

Adam's laid back approach was extremely helpful during my divorce. He is the antithesis of the expensive downtown lawyer. He is willing to work with you on ways to reduce costs and has seen enough divorces to be able to almost predict what will happen next.
He understands the family law system in San Francisco very well and focuses on the things that are really important. He is very accessible and has provided very good service to me.
There's no doubt divorces are emotional journey's and Adam helps to reduce that and focus on getting the process to completion so you can move on with your life. -

I recently contacted Adam Gurley for a second opinion, I explained that I already had an attorney and that I just wanted to run my situation by a second attorney to make sure that I was being treated fairly. Adam did not hesitate to hear my sitatuion out over the phone, and let me know that what my attorney was telling me was true. Not only did he tell me that I was alright where I was, he also offered up several suggestions that he felt might help my case. I been around the block in business and life in general and this is really not the type of treatment I expected when calling attorneys for a second opinion. When talking to Adam I felt like I was talking to a friend, he heard me out and didn't try to rush me off the phone. He was knowledgable and professional even after he advised me to stay put. Adam came to the rescue this year when a very good friend of mine needed help with his very complex divorce. My friend had already gone through two VERY EXPENSIVE lawyers and had dropped a lot of cash trying to resolve the issue. He was feeling fleeced and the lawyer jokes were coming fast and furiously. Adam was the antedote to those downtown hacks. He was striaght forward, level headed, accessible and helped my friend handle the case himself. His advice appeared to be right on and he was generous with his time. I am very happy to say that my friend is now successfully divorced. I highly recommend Adam. During our first initial call, he spent well over a half an hour with me. He gets back to you very quickly, and has your best interest in mind. He's experienced and personable, and gives sound advice. Also, he is very reasonable so that you won't have to worry about anything more than what you already are going through.

Adam was a breeze to work with. With his help I was able to file usually expensive and complicated paperwork myself. He sent me pdf's of all of the paper work with clear instructions for filling it out. If I had questions, he was available by phone or email. Doing my paperwork this way saved me a ton of money and gave me the peace of mind that I was not screwing things up by doing it myself.
I highly recommend Adam Gurley. He is professional, easy to work with and will save you money. -

I contacted Adam Gurley on two separate occasions regarding a child custody issue and each time he responded within minutes, literally! He was able to provide me some great advice on all current issues I mentioned in my email and even offered to speak with me on the phone. I originally contacted him because of all the great reviews, and I am so glad I did! If I end up needing to hire a lawyer, I will definitely ask him to represent me and I sure hope he takes me! Just this week I contacted Adam in near panic about my ex's desire to revisit our child support agreement via SF Dept of Child Support Services after nearly 6 years of dutifully paying and overpaying her. I called, after reading some reviews right here on Yelp, and Adam answered the phone right away. His cordial and straightforward manner made me feel much better right away. He took his time (almost a full hour and completely free of charge) to explain my options to me in detail. Thanks to Adam I feel much more in control of the situation and am preparing next steps on my own. I've never encountered an attorney like Adam before, and I'm planning to have him help thru the case once I get my ducks in a row. Bottom line, he not only saved me a ton of $$, he gave me realistic expectations for the outcome. I would gladly recommend Adam to anyone.

I have only reviewed a few places on Yelp but felt it necessary that I Yelp my new attorney Adam Gurley. Adam has been such a help to me that I am finally sleeping at night. I have been going through a difficult divorce with my son to be ex and have been getting harassed by her lawyer with emails and phone calls. I was lost and didn't know what to do and was contemplating just submitting to the senseless requests that her lawyers was demanding. I didn't have a ton of money but knew that it was time to get help. After scouring the internet for hours one Saturday night I found Adam. I actually found him on YELP and quickly sent him in email telling him my situation which he responded to early that Sunday morning.
I met with Adam a couple days later and was relieved to find out that I had rights and that my wife's lawyer was trying to strong arm me with false information. Adam has been doing family law in and around the Bay Area so he knows the drill. Adam quickly came up with a plan for me which we initiated right away. The best part is that Adam's fees are reasonable and fair and he does not nickel and dime you like the other lawyers I spoke to. Adam Gurley is literally as good as it gets!! He has integrity and also genuinely cares about you as a person. I haven't been through a Divorce before and he couldn't have been a better pick. I phoned Adam after reading his reviews on Yelp, with the hope of getting an answer to one question. He stayed on the phone with me for 45 minutes, answering all my questions and giving just enough detail to help me understand. He explained the process, was generous with his time, and did not apply any pressure AT ALL in terms of getting a committment from me to move forward. He explained my options in realistic terms. Even though it was dark news, I appreciated getting the full picture. I would recommend Adam to anyone who wants friendly honesty, candor, and expertise from an attorney.

I found Adam Gurley using Yelp and gave his contact information to my mother who is going through a difficult divorce. He gave her more helpful information in the 45 minute conversation with him than her expensive lawyer had in the 5 months she had retained him. Recommended. Adam knows the local court rules and officials, and is very easy to work with - whether in person, or by phone, email, fax etc. He is also conscious of your cost and not like many other attorneys who love to see the meter running, even if its not justified for your case.

I very very rarely take the time to write a review on Yelp. However, Adam picked up immediately, even though I called him late in the evening. He took the time right then to speak with me about my situation, was very helpful and patient on the phone while I tried to find copies of the papers I attempted to file using one of those on-line divorce packages (useless). Adam agreed to see us to draw up papers in the evening so as to avoid my husband and I having to take off from work early, and charged a more than reasonable fee! Adam is a hero. I have been in a highly contested Divorce case and was having so much difficulty with my previous attorney. After speaking with numerous lawyers trying to get some clarity on how I could win my case and also not trying not to expense funds for huge fees I was fortunate to be able to meeet with Adam Gurley. In a few hours we had a strategy, a plan that would really work and I feel I finally have a solution to a case that has been dragging on for over 18 months and that has been very emotionally and financially draining.
