This particular Adalbertos is a star above all the other locations I have tried. My go to is definitely the California Burrito.

Another tip, their diet pepsi is mixed differently than most places. The go heavy on the syryup and it tastes more like regular.

I don't always eat Adalberto's but when I do, I'm usually drunk or hung over. Cheap Mexican is great for soaking up the alcohol and its super close to my house. Plus, they're already used to everyone coming in drunk because I'm pretty sure that's the only reason people eat there.

Quick tip: Don't get an order of nachos all to yourself, you'll eat it all and then hate yourself more and more with each bite..... buuuuut you'll keep doing it. Adalberto's nachos are made with real cheese, unlike stupid Jimboy's that puts nacho cheese sauce. EW. If you want good cheap nachos, come here.

Wow, this place has gone way downhill! Ordered some super-nachos last night, and while the portion was ridiculously huge as usual, the meat was gristly and bland, and there was a ton of rice on the nachos. Really? Rice? Granted, I've never ordered their nachos before, so maybe for Adalberto's this is normal, but I have had nachos at about 50 other restaurants over the years and not once was there ever any damn rice on there. Bizarre, and an obvious attempt to stretch the dish on the cheap. Should have gone to Jimboy's across the street!

This place is a steal for the amount of food you get. A normal person shouldn't be able to finish the portions in one eating. Drive through open 24 hours, 7 days, interior open late; a rarity for the Carmichael area other than Denny's. Free chips and dips inside.

A fair warning, going after midnight it may be necessary to know some Spanish or the number of the order you want so the receptionist will not misunderstand you. Say "number 24" for the usually good bacon breakfast burrito which is the size of your head. Why I say usually is that this place is hit or miss in quality. Its really a roll of the dice with a 1 in 6 chance of getting your order messed up or poor quality food or both. Avoid the chicken like the plague.

For the price I can't complain much though, $5 will get you fed and then some. Been here over 100 times, I'm not exaggerating. I recommend the ham or bacon breakfast burritos, the California burrito and the horchata drink.

What else can I say? This place is cheap, offers large portions, is open 24 hours a day, and has a no-surprises menu.

I usually get a carne asada taco. It comes on two tortillas, so I split the filling among both and get two tacos for the price of one. That's often enough to fill me up.

If I have a friend with me, we'll also split the "chips with cheese and Mexican salsa." That's a gut-buster, but tastes oh-so-good.

Adalberto's and Carolina's can be found all over Sacramento. If you desire some cheap, standard Mexican food, they're the place to go.

My husband and his friends love this place, especially after a night of drinking.  The food is really good when you are drunk and okay any other time.

My husband loves the fish tacos, although I think they are okay, I prefer fresh fish to fish sticks.  I do enjoy their carne asada tacos and pico.

The best thing about this place is before 100am you can sit inside the restaurant.

This place is epic. My friend Lana H. declared that this place is where people go when they're drunk, but I found a freaking winner for the wonderful price, GIGANTIC PORTIONS, and unlimited chips and salsa. The California Burrito was longer than a horse's private part and was flaming hot from the French fries. It was filled with meat and beans and went very well with the salsa. The service was quick and friendly. I had a great experience. I would love to come back here any time I'm in the Sacramento area.

Hubby loves this place.  He gets the California Burrito...#24?  Not really on the menu, but super cheap and WAY large!  It's the size of my forearm...really!  For about $3.  Full of french fries, scrambled eggs, beef, and....I don't order it so I don't remember.  I'm not a burrito fan, but I always take a few large bites before he douses it in hot sauce!

Rolled tacos.  Think taquitoes.  With sour cream and shredded cheese...yummo!

Tacos remind me of more authentic ones from LA, not generic Taco Bell ones.  Be warned, however, you will smell of cilantro and onion all night afterwards!  Oh, but you might as well enjoy the complimentary chips and salsa bar with plenty of pico de gallo....you're going to smell like food anyway, so eat up!

I like this place. Can't say I like everything on the menu, but I come here for the Al Pastor. Funny because both the things I get, Al Pastor taco's or Fries are both not on the menu. The fries are indescribably good, I haven't found true love but until then, this fits the gap.

Even if you can't find what you want on the menu, tell them and they'll throw something together for you. Also in my experience, this location is the best in Sacramento area, hands down.

My chicken quesadilla was 12" in diameter and 1/2" thick.  It was hard to handle it was so huge. I ate about of 1/3 of it and was full.  The horchata was great too.

The whole thing was about $5.  Amazing.

Reminds me a lot of Oscar's on Freeport.  Small inside, very friendly and homespun.  Nothing fancy - just good cheap food in large quantity. .

Adalberto's isn't going to make you experience culinary nirvana, but it is good food at a cheap price.   I like to get the chicken tacos here.  They are pretty large and definitely filling.

This place is open 24/7 and is great alternative to the other late night food options.  They are also crazy fast with their food orders no matter what time of day I come through here.

These guys are a mixed bag.

    Hit or miss.

I've had awesome food from them and I've had some pretty mediocre things too.

Usually, I'm broke so I get the chicken taco platter for $3.99 and it is filling for some simple grub.

Their burritos are standard, but if you go at the wrong time (which is hard to say when) you may get a wimpy burrito (I go with pork and it always varies in quantity and quality).

You get what you pay for and Addy's is like the McDonald's of taquerias.

No matter what I write here, I'm sure I'll eat here again.

Highlights: 24/7, Cheap, Quick, Generous Servings.

I lived in So. Cal for three years. If I'm supposed to be comparing this place to GOOD fast-mexican-food, well... bummer. Not gonna happen.

I've noticed that the quality of the food has gone down. Their fries that they use in their food have becoming increasingly cold and soggier. Their meat and vegetable portions have also been cut in half. No bueno!

Even the burritos aren't rolled as well as they used to be.

Over all, the food is decent.

On a happier not, at least i'm not getting gastroenteritis every other week from eating the mexican food in So. Cal anymore. Cleanliness is appreciated.

Hmmmm I don't know about everyone here, but the food tonight was poor at best.  I do frequent this restaurant from time to time but I have to say I was really disappointed tonight.

I ordered the #3....basic cheese enchiladas combo plate.  Something was really OFF with the sauce.  It left a really bad after taste, almost chalky?  The beans didn't fair any better.

My man ordered #2 combo - the beef tacos.  He even made the comment that something just didn't taste OK tonight.

Maybe it's a bad night for the staff.....I would have given it 3 stars because the gals at the front counter are nice, but I just can't get over the food.

I love Adalberto's. For a Sacramento Waldorf student, it was the perfect lunch time fix of greasy goodness, completely antithetical to the biodynamic standards the Waldorf community usually stands for. Something about eating a California burrito with french fries jammed inside of it in the shadow of Rudolf Steiner is so, so beautiful.

    But I digress.

My standby here are the carnitas tacos ($2.25 each) with added guacamole (.85 cents). I don't know how this little drive through does it, but the tacos are fantastic, full of that good fried fat that a worthwhile carnita should contain. Add on the pico de gallo and the chunky and butter guacamole, and you've entered Mexican fast food nirvana. Oh, and did I mention those things are huge? They are huge.

I've tried just about everything on the menu here at least once. The rolled chicken taquitos ($2.50 with guac)  are deep-fried quickly and served doused with guacamole and cheese - amazing, if a little bit too crunchy. They're wonderful dipped in the spicy and sharp house verde salsa. The nachos are standard issue, but you can get meat on them, and that kick-ass guacamole redeems any failings they might have.

The fish taco ($1.85) is weird and kind of underwhelming - your standard deep fried Chunk O' Cod with some bizarre pink tartar sauce on top. Skip it.

Burritos are wonderful and evil, although note that if you order a chicken burrito, that's all you're getting - meat and nothing else. Make sure to order it with, you know, other stuff. The California burrito ($3.20) features carne asada, french fries, pico de gallo, and a bunch of melted cheese and is definitely up there on any possible list of Most Awesome Hangover Food. I've also been known to order a veggie burrito here if I don't feel like over-stressing my arteries, although this makes me feel vaguely dirty. These feature rice, beans, cheese, lettuce and tomato and sour cream, though I usually ask them to leave it off.

Adalberto's is a wonderful temple of dirty, dirty Mexican fast food. It is one of the many reasons why California is so wonderful.

You know anybody getting burritos at 4 AM is drunk, high, or both -- not that that's a bad thing, of course. That said, the 24-hour drive-thru is pretty much the best invention since air.

But the true beauty of Adalberto's is that it's not just food you settle for late at night when nothing else is open, e.g. Jack In The Crack. It's even better when the lobby is open because you can fill up on deliciously greasy chips (warmed by a heating lamp) and perfectly cilantro-laden pico de gallo.

My guilty pleasure here is the rolled tacos with guacamole and cheese. They're best dipped in the red sauce first, then double-dipped in hella pico de gallo. The red sauce comes free when you order in the drive-thru but they started charging $1 for a small-ish tub of pico de gallo. This is the main reason Adalberto's is best enjoyed in the lobby where you can steal a boatload of pico de gallo.

A close runner-up is the nachos with guacamole and cheese, but best shared with a friend. They don't keep as leftovers.

In conclusion: among the best and cheapest Mexican places in Northern California. You'd have to be either crazy or too damn elitist for your own good to not give this place a shot.

I eat here- or go through their drive through about once a week. This location has yet to screw up an order so I like them more much than the one on Madison.

Im a vegetarian and enjoy their nachos with guac and cheese and their veggie burrito. Usually chased with a tamarinde juice.

Their green sauce is amazing. Their churros well basically what you find at any sports venue or county fair.

Downside- maybe not a great first date but if you have the craving and can splurge for something a couple bucks more than the Taco Hell or Del Taco - Adalbertos is one of Sacramento's best kept hole in the wall secrets.

I've lived within walking distance of this joint since I moved here a year and a half ago, but alas, I hadn't discovered how good it was until just this weekend when some out-of-town guests demanded Mexican food for brunch.

The establishment itself is nothing to get excited about. In fact, it has a rather strange seating layout: the two rows of tables and chairs are spaced such that an elephant could walk through. The seats weren't particularly comfortable either.

Of course, we came for the food, not the decor, and we weren't disappointed, We all ordered breakfast burritos of different variants, then helped ourselves to chips and assorted samplings of salsa from the free chips and salsa bar -- always a nice touch at a Mexican restaurant. They also offer free coffee, though none of us ordered it.

Our burritos were prepared promptly and were quite impressive. For starters, they're huge, surprisingly so for the very reasonable price. (Mine contained beans, eggs, potatoes, cheese -- and I think avocado, and it cost just $3.60.)

The tortilla was warm and tasty. The contents were hot and yummy -- not exceptionally, but very satisfying, especially with different types of salsa poured on. And the burrito wasn't greasy, a trait you sometimes find at other more authentic-style Mexican food places.

All told, I definitely look forward to returning to Adalberto's and sampling other offerings from their large menu. It's not much to look at, but it's clearly a place where you get more than your money's worth.

Adalberto's and Carolina's are the same restaurant.  They are ubiquitous in Sacramento and surround.

They make a mean burrito.  They have delicious beans and rice.  If you are awake at midnight and want something more satisfying than bland taco bell, go to Adalberto's/Carolina's.

Recommended: carne asada burrito, vegetarian burrito, fish tacos, and chicken soft tacos.

If you are used to Mission style burritos and Isla Vista burritos, you will be very satisfied with the fare at Adalberto's.

Oooh! I LOVE this place! I have always been a fan but lately me and the boy have frequented this location.  It's clean, it's fast and it's a super value.  Adalberto's is a sure shot. From the giant sized burritos to the combination plate it really doesn't matter what you order here, it's ALL good.

The chips and salsa bar is clean and yummy. The only thing about eating inside is the ucky fluorescent lighting and even that doesn't seem so bad once you are eating any of the yummy menu items.

I lived on Adalberto's in High School, and even though those years are long gone, I have not grown out of my fondness for their vegetables burrito.  The price is definitely right for their monstrous portions and classic creations.  Even though it's a big chain, Adalberto's maintains it's integrity and is definitely an old stand-by of mine.
Edit: I just had a nostalgic pang and decided to grab a veggie burrito while I was in my old stomping grounds.  The quality has definitely decreased... but it could just be my refined adult palate (hint: it's not).  However, this is still the place to be when you're craving some hearty mexican food at 2 in the morning (for whatever your reason may be).

I've tried a handful of offerings from their menu and I wasn't impressed with most of them. The only thing I liked were the Super Burritos but I've had them so much that I've grown tired of it. I stopped by yesterday when I told myself I would give this place a rest. I drove around the area and just couldn't think of where else to go. Since I was in a hurry I just went ahead and ate here. The food is nothing special.

I love this place.  I swing by and pick up a super yummy carne asada burrito to take home and eat for under $6 and it is nice and juicy and made with steak and filled with good guacamole that is made from real avocados and does not come out of some frozen plastic bag that tastes entirely to much like lemon juice.  I also really like both the chicken and the shredded beef tacos, as well as their carnitas plate that comes with beans, rice, tortillas, and a side of guacamole.  Adalbertos is always a good dinner choice when I want Mexican food, but don't want to cook it or really sit down in a restaurant.
