I had heard that this fast food restaurant was the place  to go to for their infamous "Carne Asada Fries" & I figured, why not? My boyfriend and I go one night and noticed that the drive-thru was packed, so we go inside instead. Once we arrived, we were not greeted even when we stood in front of their register for about 5 minutes. They continued to ignore us because they were so busy handling other people's orders. Finally, one of them walked over to us because he had to get something & simply said, "hold on". Took a while, but finally we ordered.

I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito. Not impressed. The meat was dry and bland. Not even drenching it with hot sauce was helping it taste better. My boyfriend took a few bites of the Carne Asada Fries and he wasn't impressed either. The only thing that was worth going there was the Horchata. Later that night, my boyfriend got food poisoning from their fries. Sorry people, but I called Sacramento Health Inspection. That place is too dirty and who knows how they handle their food. We'll be expecting results soon.

Blech, was headed to the drive-in for a movie and we were gonna eat dinner in the car.  Had a choice between this and Taco Bell.  Being the "support local" guy that I try to be as much as possible, we went with Adalbertos.  May as well have gone the other way.

Food was bland - so bland that we couldn't tell chicken from pork from steak.

Super nachos weren't exactly super - mostly beans - little meat.

Couldn't understand anything on the drive-thru speaker.

Have the gall to put a "tips" jar on the drive-thru.  Eeek.

My opinion of the food may be slightly skewed, since I don't think I have ever eaten their food without being either drunk, or well on my way there. But for all the times I did eat their food... OMG, so delicious. Their Carne Asada Fries are amazing. World famous even (I have many friends from around the globe who know and love their Carne Asada fries).  Burritos are pretty exceptional too... ugh, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it all.

This is definitely a local favorite, and loved by the community. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Great place. I love the pork tacos...of course, pork tacos are my favorite. Good place for chips and salsa...and love the Carne Asada fries! I've had a burrito here a couple of times, and they were pretty good, but I usually go to places like this for the tacos.

Pretty good prices. Great late night food. Good place to chill with friends. This place can't be beat.

I had the California burrito with sour cream and it raked up to 6.25 just for that burrito. The burrito itself just wasn't flavorful enough by itself and the salsa provided doesn't really do much for it as well. It's open 24 hours though and the portion was good.

I also had a Fish Burrito here and the burrito from the bottom side was all watery and made the tortilla soggy. At the mid-end of eating the burrito the thing pretty much fell apart because the tortilla could not hold everything together. The fish also just wasn't that good.

I suppose it's good portion wise, but I'd rather just go somewhere else for Mexican food.

This is one of the better Adalbertos locations. My favorites here are the #5 with a beef taco and a chicken enchilada. Their breakfast burritos are also really good, especially with bacon. Their prices seem to go up steadlily over there years, and now a combo w/ a drink is approaching $10, so that is a little bit of a let down.

It was late. We were hungry. I was craving a crunchwrap supreme from Taco Bell... so we came here.
Despite our semi-intoxication, their chicken tasted like tuna: NEVER ORDER THAT.
But the recommendations by yelpers were on point. Carne Asada, amazing. California burrito, amazing. Hot sauce, not that great.
Little man was annoyed with me at the order window, but at 3am dealing with indecisive drunkies... I understand completely.
We were eating in the parking lot and suddenly a bum lady walks by. OMG! Scared me and made me spill the little container of hot sauce all over my lap! Luckily the hot sauce was not spicy at all.

    Hungry?
    Got the munchies?
Leaving the bar/club and want something to make you feel better?
And best of all, it's late at night and you want good food?

Look no further, Adalberto's aka Addy's is sure to hit the spot and it's open 24hrs!!!!

Their Carne Asade Fries have gotten so so so much better! Even better than before. The fries are now super crispy and pop in your mouth! Even with all those tasty toppings of guacamole, carne asada, sour cream, and cheese. Feel free to add as much green/red sauce salsa as you want, it only makes it better!!!

Please do yourself a favor and try their chicken quesadilla, it's big enough to share and they pack that baby up with loads of tasty, marinated shredded chicken and cheese! May get a little messy so get ready to use those napkins.

    P.S. Horchata is the http://bomb.com!

Never knew "costco size my meal" was an option
    (4.5 stars)

    - Food, delicious
    - Prices, cheap/affordable
    - Portions, HUGE
    - Service, fast

We were on our way to South Lake Tahoe for the weekend and were hungry and stopped at Adalberto's. They had a good selection on their menu from burritos, tacos, enchaladas, quesadillas, combinations, etc. And they have free chips and dips to select from. Inside seating is open until 10/11pm but their drive-thru is open 24/7. Good deal.

    HEFFER-STYLE STATUS.

Chicken Quesadilla ($5.50) - it was the size of half a pizza. I had an appettite and barely put in a dent. This WAS SO DELICIOUS. the way they prepared it was on-point, lots of shredded-tender-chicken. Seriously "costco size my meal" came out with every order.

Will I be back? Yes, whenever I am on my way to Lake Tahoe.

JABA APPROVED. Until the next review....

Chorizo/Potatoes burrito.  Chorizo, eggs, cheese, and potatoes - holyyyyy shiiii-...this is the only thing I order from here.  It's cheap ($3.60 I think) and it's big.  Although, for some reason, some days the burrito is substantially bigger and can fill me up - other times it's smaller and will fill me 1/2 up.  I also like it with the sauce (a must for the chorizo/potato burrito), so get both red and green.

I've tried other stuff like the carne asada fries, the nachos, the tacos, and the california burrito (overrated imo, unless you add guacamole and sour cream, which totals the burrito to somewhere that surpasses how much I'm willing to spend on a burrito), other burritos and breakfast burritos and they are OK, but the chorizo/potatoes burrito is by far the best.  Maybe this place is more like a 3 star place overall, but I love the chorizo/potatoes burrito too much, so 4 stars it is.

:edit:  I went here today and the price of the chorizo/potato burrito went up 50 cents ($4.10)... :(

My first time here was on April 27, 2011.

I walked in and there were a few customers eating here.  There was no one in line.  I walked up to look at the menu and I was looking for this fry with steak but I could not find it on the menu.  So I asked for help which she rudely talked to me.  I would give the service a 3 and the food a 3.5.  The food came out pretty quick.  I ordered the carne asada steak fries.  The steak was a bit dry and chewy.  It was $6.50 + tax which came out to be $7+.

I think this place is cheap.  The salsa there is only for dine in.  Why??  Then what are you suppose to dip your fries in??? lol I thought this was stupid.  Instead, they give two sauce togo that are in the smallest togo cups I have ever seen.  I mean how much sauce are you going to take that you won't even let us have some sauce? haha

I love Mexican food. I could eat it every day for the rest of my life and die a happy girl.

I also love Adalbertos. This place is good when you're drunk, or sober, starving, or in need of some food therapy.

I highly recommend the California burrito, it is my go-to. Although I've had, and also enjoyed: the super nachos, cheese and chicken quesadillas, and most of the combination plates. The rice is tasty, beans are beany, and their sauce is equal parts spicy and delightfully bad for you.

Check it out. You won't be disappointed!

A night of dancing and partying it up with Yelpers required a greasy meal to even out.  The chili relleno was NASTY.  Like I'm talking one bite and throw the rest back at the staff.  I'm not sure if it was the sauce, the batter or everything combined but wow, I really did not like it.  Thankfully, there were not so nasty tacos.  This is a shining example of quantity over quality.

I happened to stop by this place because I was really craving Carne Asada fries and found out this place is local to me. I get there, order my Carne Asada fries (And Large Horchata....can't go without getting Horchata!) and despite what other reviews have said, I could hear the person clearly in through the speaker.

Overall, service is great considering how they have to cook it, and while I do sit in the drive through for awhile, it's worth it with the quality of food they put out. I'll definitely be coming back here more.

I always eat this before or after singing my heart out at ruru lala mainly because of the close proximity between these two places. This is somewhere you go to fulfill your fatty status...and then cry about it later. Don't want to know how many calories are in the food but sometimes you just have to eff it. FYI carne asada fries and super nachos are the same thing except with either fries or tortilla chips. I learned the stupid way but you know what... it doesn't even matter because its all yummy. I don't think it matters what you order here because everything is goooood. Always ask for red & green sauce and don't forget the horchata!

I had the most expensive chicken enchiladas the other night. It cost me about 500 dollars. How you ask?

I went through the drive thru @ midnight, when a sweaty disheveled white guy in slacks and an unbuttoned dress shirt walking in the drive thru, going car to car, asked me to roll my window down, I shook my head no over and over as he KEPT asking me to roll down my window, pointed for him to move out the way, and he commenced to kicking the $hit out of my car. Spitting, kicking and punching my windows and screaming racial slurs at me. I shit you not....

Supercrackhead kicked a huge dent into my driver side door.

No one called the cops, and when he walked off, no one came to help.
After the crackhead skittered off, I asked the guys at the window for help, and they said the NO SPEAKIE english BS. HOW the hell are you working a DRIVE THRU and cant speak English!?!?!?!??!!?!?

I always hit this place up late at night---I've had CA burrito, tacos, carne asada fries, tortas, taquitos, and chicken quesadilla. The asada tacos and the tortas are probably my favorite. I never order the guacamole anymore because twice when I've gotten it, it just doesn't taste like anything good and its a little sloppy........Horchata is always bomb. CA burrito and quesadilla are huge, I can never finish them in one sitting. Free chips and salsa for dine in are always nice to have. I also love the spicy pickled veggies.  Super cheap, fast, good tasting food and open 24-hrs- Nice!

Adalberto's has always been a good option if you feel like upping your game from Taco Bell (there's a Taco Bell next door).  No sir, this ain't the "trick the people ethnic food" they actually have pretty good Mexican food.  It's no Mission Street experience but the food is better than average and the people here are really nice.  This is also a great spot for a breakfast burrito before going to work or going to the snow since it's off of HWY 50.  But the REAL reason why we go here is the CARNE ASADA FRIES!  CAFs (what the supposed experts call it) make a great late night snack, lunch, breakfast, or something to share with a loved one...aww.  Nothing like bonding and rekindling the fire with a nice styrofoam container of Carne Asada Fries and downing it with some Horchata!  MMMMM healthy!

I've lived near this adalbertos since it's been opened, there have been many fun, late and drunken nights that end at this drive through and waking up with red and green sauce all over my shirt haha. their burritos will definitely make you full their tacos are legit and I've just found out that their enchiladas are amazing. i've gone there in the day too and it's cool how they have a chip and salsa bar without being shiesty about it they are a step up from taco bell right next door and their green sauce is usually best when smothering anything on their menu. the only drawback is that late nights when your driving through or i guess any time you order in the drive through they never tell you a price or total ever.

I confess, I am biased, Your Honor.

My favorite Mexican food still resides in the Mission, but from time to time, when I am nursing that special craving for a big fat 1-pound Chorizo burrito or a juicy savory Pollo Asada burrito, I will make it a point in my schedule to run to Adelberto's, which is a hop-skip-trot away in my car.

Cheap and efficient, this little shop offers pretty decent size of burritos and other eats, most under $4.00!!

The food is quite good, reasonable, and the place is clean. If a place is dirty, it is a deal-breaker. For those reasons, I keep going back. They also get bonus points because they are open 24 hours.

One piece of advice: the portions are HUGE here. My tip is to always ask for a to-go box with your order even if you're eating in. You can put half in the box and have two meals that will more than fill you up. I'm not a mousy eater but I can never finish without feeling blah afterwards.

The carne asada tacos were goooood...The meat was surprisingly tender and full of spicy seasoning.  The fresco salsa was so....fresh!  You could have tasted the onion, cilantro, tomato and guacamole all at once.

I ordered the combo plate:  2 carne asada tacos, with rice & beans for $8 and the plate was FULL of rice and bean.   It took two hands to grab the taco. The Spanish rice was actually moist.  There are fresh, homemade tortilla chips and a salsa bar.

The drive thru is opened 24 hours!  Great for those late night cravings.

This Adalberto's is a light airy clean looking restaurant with lots of comfortable booths.

The food however was vile.  I ordered a California Burrito which is made with steak and potatoes.  The potatoes tasted stale and some of them were cold.  The cheese was very cold and stuck together in clumps.  The steak was fatty, grisly, old tasting and the tortilla was still cold in spots.  It was by far, the worst burrito I have ever had, even worse than Chipotle Grill (land of the vulcanized tortilla).

The heat lamp over their tortilla chips at their chips and salsa bar was inadequate and did not keep their chips warm.  Their chips tasted like some inferior store bought chips that sat out for a month.  They were so tough that it hurt to chew them and they had a slightly rancid flavor.  Not a good experience.

If I could make this place vanish with the stroke of a wand, I would.

Adalbertos in my opinion is kind of like a higher quality Mexican fast food joint.  They have very tasty carne asada.  Quite salty actually.  Their super nachos carne asade are probably my favorite.  They smother the nachos in cheese, guacamole, and sour cream.  Another item they do this with is their taquitos (or rolled tacos).  I've had their burritos and all I can say is they are alright.  For a better burrito I would suggest Dos Coyotes but that can get pricey and messy.

The service at this location has always been acceptable to me.

World's best breakfast burritos...I make a bee line for them as soon as I get within an hour of this place.  The portions are huge.  The food is fresh and the tortillas are terrific.

The lunch burritos are a little weird.  The chicken burrito has???  Chicken  ....no kidding you say.  Please note I mentioned nothing besides chicken.  You get chicken.  Rice?  no  Beans?  no  Chicken?  How's two pounds work for ya??

If you're not going to eat a breakfast burrito (which you should) you should try their super nachos with no rice or no beans.  They put a ton of rice and beans on their nachos (though there are none in their burritos).

If you don't have cash...go through the drive thru for credit card.

For a quick late night Mexican food fix, I would highly recommend this place. There aren't a lot of decent Mexican food joints around the Sac area & they definitely don't compare to the ones down in SoCal.

Adalberto's has another restaurant in San Diego so it wouldn't hurt to try this certain location, right? I guess it could pass for a "SoCal Mexican shop". The Carne Asada Fries are alright. I haven't found one place around Sac that has decent CAF, so this place will just have to do. The fries sometimes range from crunchy to extremely soggy, so you don't get the heart attack indulgence that you've been hoping for. The Horchata here is the best I ever had though.

Quick note: when going through the drive-thru, you can never hear the employees on the other end trying to talk to you.
