I usually only go here when everything else in Fairfield is closed--so around dinner time.

Everything is so junky and sloppily-assembled, but Adalberto's gave me my horchata + taco fix at 2 am, so Yay! I'm a fan.

We've all been looking for that little bit of hope for good authentic Mexican food in Northern CA. Adalberto's gives us that hope that we can get the real Mexican food cuisine. The restaurant itself maybe small but the food packs a big punch. I've been going to Adalberto's for years now and I don't think they are getting the credit they deserve. So much of the attention goes to Baldo's in Fairfield and Vallejo but I know Adalberto's tops Baldo's by so much.

The quality of the food is great. Everything is so tasty. Usually Mexican restaurants have meat that is really chewy or tough but Adalberto's cooks the carne asada and carnitas so well that it is soft and juicy. The shrimp fries are so delicious and filled with sour cream, guacamole, french fries, chopped onions, bell peppers, and topped with cheeses! I definitely recommend those. The carne asada and carnitas fries are also a must when going to Adalberto's (it just depends what your preference is on the type of meat). Any burrito is a great burrito if it's from Adalberto's (seriously!) There is really is no flaw when it comes to their food and quality.

The only real flaw about Adalberto's is the size of the restaurant and that it takes a while to wait at the drive through. Other than that, this place is great for authentic Mexican food. I would definitely recommend Adalberto's for anyone or family to eat but you should only eat here for take out. The dining area is way to small to dine in.

This place used to have the BEST carne asada fries in Northern California.  Coincidentally their carne asada fries were the closest to that found in numerous taquerias scattered around San Diego.  Unfortunately, they decided to change from the thin fries to a thicker cut of fries.  Big mistake.  I think I cried when I saw.

Aside from the carne asada fries, the chicken burrito super is still pretty bomb as is their sauce.  However, I will always be haunted by the downfall of their signature dish.

This one's for you small fries (pours some liquor on street)

My friends and I were on the way back from Portland after a 5 1/2 day beer trip, where we pretty much did nothing but drink beer from sunup to sundown.  It was glorious.  On the way back, one of my friends had a jonesing for this place, which I'd never heard of.  Since we were nearby, we decided to stop.  On both my friend's and Yelp's recommendation, I ordered a California burrito.

The price was good, and it was ready quickly, so I sat down in the overly cramped seat and started gnawing.  The beef in the burrito was fair -- better quality than the Taco Bell just down the street, but a little dry and much less flavorful.  There were also some soggy french fries mixed in, which didn't do much to enhance the overall taste factor.  This place doesn't have a salsa bar, and the salsas provided were mediocre.  About half way through I found myself wishing I was at the Taco Bell instead.

After the meal, we hopped back in the car, and jetted back to the Bay Area.  By the time I got home, I was doing the "omg I am seriously going to crap my pants" dance.  I raced inside, and dropped the biggest load of splatter batter I've ever released.  It was epic.

After drinking 5 1/2 days of beer, despite eating copious amounts of salad, I had been feeling seriously backed up, and was a little worried I wouldn't be able to crap for like a week.  But within an hour of eating here, I was completely cleared out and back to normal, outside of my pucker feeling like I'd sitten on a flaming cactus.  It was more or less the equivalent of getting a burrito enema.

Definitely 5 stars for fixing a seriously bad case of constipation, but since Yelp doesn't have a constipation rating, I'm giving this place 2 stars simply because the food was pretty disappointing.  I'd go almost anywhere else instead, including the Taco Bell down the street.

At least until next year, when we do the next beer trip and I need another cleansing.

There was a bullet hole in the window near the register, but it didn't actually go all the way through the glass. Guess that comes with the territory of being one of the only 24/7 places in town.

I imagine the star rating would fluctuate depending on what time of night you visit, but even as breakfast, the a la carte tacos - I think I got carne asada and carnitas - were better than I was expecting, and pretty big, too - two will keep you full long after lunch.

Fairfield does not seem like an area that has caught on to the wonders of breakfast tacos, so it seems like this is the best you're going to get before 8 AM. You could do worse.

In a world filled with crap drive thru Mexican food Adalberto's serves as a shining beacon of hope and deliciousness.  Sure, is there a possiblity of getting jacked (only after dark) right after you've filled yourself with the awesomeness that it their California Burrito, Rolled Tacos (Always get it with Guacamole, sour cream, and cheese), and Carne Asada Fries? Yes... But the wound from the stabbing you received from the gangbangers filming a rap video in the middle of the street won't result in your untimely death.  Why you ask? Because the deliciousness of Adalbertos has entered your veins and likely clogged the major artery that was severed during the knife fight.

Ok seriously... the food is awesome.  The dinning in experience is..eh lacking, but the fact that its open 24 hours a day makes up for.  Drunk or sober the food is great.  The service is great.  The employees are always friendly.  The place is just plain awesome.

PROS: The guacamole and cheese nachos!! The horchata is cheap and really good too. And that's basically all I really get here...

CONS: The meat here doesn't have any flavor. Yes, it's open late so most of these people make their reviews based on their drunken taste buds, but if you're looking for flavorful meat, this place greatly lacks.

I wanted to give a 5 star for a drive through mexican they are very good.  The rice, beans, encheladas and burritos were very good. I have not visited other places in this area other then Chipolte and they are just too Yuppy for my tastes unless I am calorie watching that day.  Mexican food at Adalberto's is authentic, but the place is rustic at best but not a hole in the wall.  They are Open 24 Hours and have a drive thought.  Its not a romantic place to take your beloved but if you are hungry, want Mexican 24/7 this is the spot to go for real food.  I am a You Are a CEO distributor and I know value.

I have to update, because I've become a big fan of their shrimp tacos lately. The sauce they put on them is soOo good.  They are a little messy because they are so jam packed with shrimp. I've also had their fish tacos and they are good as well. So if your craving Mexican but want something a little lighter I'd try a shrimp taco or a fish taco.

OMG. So, I have been having a ton of burrito cravings for the past two weeks, ever since eating at Papalote in San Francisco. I heard that this place had really good burritos. Well... Let's see how they taste like.

It was my first time coming here, and I wanted a burrito with chicken, beans, salsa, and rice in it. I was totally expecting that for my burrito because every burrito I have gotten in my life had those ingredients typically. I ordered the chicken burrito, but....... dun dun dunnnnn, it only had chicken. SO PLAIN. They didn't ask me if I wanted anything in it. How was I supposed to know if I had never been here before. :(

The burrito itself was tasty, but it was not what I wanted. I only ate half because that is how I much I am able to eat burritos. I usually save the rest for later, but since I wasn't satisfied with this burrito, I was not happy at all.

The building is terrible. It is dirty and there are cracks everywhere. There are flies outside and their front door is jammed. I wouldn't have minded if I had gotten a great burrito. haha

After this experience, I don't think I want to come back ever again. Ugh. And, they totally ruined my burrito craving. :(

Ok so I bumped this place up a star. My lil sis LOVES the #24 and convinced me to give it another try. I ended up splitting the burrito with my mom b/c I just wan't that hungry.

It was decent size filled with eggs, cheese, bacon and potatoes.Good flavor and not too greasy. The tortilla was pretty soft, so easy to get a bite of everything together. Even better with their green sauce (although be careful, it can get spicy). Just half of it filled me up for a good while.

If I'm back in my hometown and craving a breakfast burrito, I would def consider Bertos.

I will usually order a regular chicken burrito or a super carne asada burrito from here. But the place hasn't been the same since I found a hair in my carne asada burrito a few years back.

Yeah, I order from here from time to time, but I ALWAYS check my food before going to town on whatever it is that I order.

How funny.  Wanted to write an update on our lunch today and realized that almost a year ago, hubby and I stopped by this same Adalberto's and ordered the exactly same things!  HAHAHA!

Food - still delicious, still fattening as heck.  My only gripe today is that the chips they use now are so light and crisp that they just don't work with the carne asada nachos!  I couldn't scoop anything up without the chip breaking.  Sounds stupid, I know, but when you're hungry and you want a chip packed with yummy grilled beef, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and a shot of hot sauce, you want that chip to hold up.  And aside from that, the AC was on full blast in there today.  My nachos were ice cold before I got halfway through.  I almost felt like asking them to heat it up in the microwave.

Aside from those little things, we got our fill of yummy nachos and tacos.  Hopefully, the next time won't be a year from today.

5 stars for the carne asada fries!  I thought I'd never find a place in NorCal that had them and was at least comparable to Lolita's (in San Diego) carne asada fries.  Adalberto's comes in very close AND is open 24 hours!!  My boyfriend, a native San Diegan, is a harsh critic of carne asada fries, but he finds these to be comparable.

Regarding all the bad reviews on here.. don't come here expecting to eat healthy food.  It's a greasy mexican food joint open 24 hrs...

So I'm from Southern California and we all know the hottest thing to come out of San Diego is what is affectionately referred to as "carne asada fries" which are french fries topped with melted cheese, guacamole, pico do gallo, sour cream, and freshly grilled carne asada meat.  Delicious... and perhaps horrifying to some.

But you also know what is RIGHT NOW THE HOTTEST THING COMING OUT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA?  I was back home a couple weeks ago, and people are going apeshit nuts for this song by this dude named Down Aka Kilo called "Lean Like a Cholo" (watch video here:  http://www.youtube.com...).

    Elbows up.
    Side to Side.
    Elbows up.
    Side to Side.
    I lean like a Cholo.

It's a fucking the best song I have ever heard in my entire life and ever since I returned to the Bay Area I've been bringing my elbows up and moving them side to side, much like Down aka Kilo instructs me to.

So anyways, I am in Fairfield California U S A (SEVEN OH SEV WHAT WHAT HOLLA!!!) and knew I had to go to Adalberto's which is open 24 hours a day and which probably gets most of its business from 2am to 3am because all the locals I know told me that the only time they ever go is when they are totally wasted.  Which is FINE BY ME.  Elbows up, side to side bitches.

So I got the carne asada fries, and a pollo asado burrito.  The pollo asado was too salty and a little dry and the tortilla lacked the freshly grilled taste that I expect from a "San Diego" burrito shop.  The carne asada fries were very authentic and executed well, although I thought it lacked a little.  The carne asada did not seem like it was marinated long enough and tasted just like beef - not like the deliciously spiced and freshly grilled carne asada that grows on trees in my border-city hometown.

So all in all, 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding to 4 because it makes me nostalgic for the days when I'm in San Diego with my elbows up, side to side, leaning like a Cholo.

I know, I know, I'm Asian, I'm not Hispanic.  So I should just own up to my own ethnicity and stop leaning like a Cholo and start leaning like a Chinese person.

    Elbows Up

I decided to take a break between the drive to Davis to try out Adalberto's and have some carne asada fries.

Yes, I wouldn't recommend one person eating a whole box of them, since I couldn't even make it halfway through.

And then I made the mistake of getting a chicken chimichanga.

Why do I do this to myself?!
    That's two meals for $13.

Check out the pictures, that chimichanga is massive!  That's what she said, oh I'm hilarious.

I went to Adalberto's to discover the life's ultimate truth, San Diego style Carne Asada Fries, Chips and Carne Asada burritos.

Even after many many years, The Bertos style taquerias still have made slow progress to make their way to the bay area.  The closest ones seem to be the Adalberto's chain in Sacramento and Fairfield.  So how does it stack up?

Very well actually, like all the major Berto's, Adalberto's offers the same tasty greasy goodness, reasonable prices, and 24 hour operation.  Perfect for younger people enjoying the nightlife.

The California Burrito was like nothing I've ever had in So Cal or Vegas.  It is basically a Carne Asada burrito combined with french fry like potatoes.  A pretty interesting combo, it seemed to be a lighter burrito than your standard Carne burrito.

The Carne Asada Fries and Chips were up to par, the chips were freshly fried, and still had a sheen from the oil it was fried in.  Along with Guacamole and cheese, it brought back memories of 2am trips to Los Jilbertos in Riverside.

None of these dishes are great for your health, but the flavor of the carne asada is fantastic and make everything better.  I foresee return trips

It's not unusual to drive up and see the drive-thru with a line that's 8 cars deep. I'm almost certain that most of those people are ordering #24, which is a breakfast burrito filled with potatoes, cheese, eggs, and huge slices of bacon or  an order of carne asada fries. Both are very bad for you and both are really good! In order to get the best of both worlds I would suggest getting both and sharing it with someone!

The food here is exactly what you need to put you in a heavenly food coma at any time of the day or night. They are open 24 hours!!

I would suggest getting your food to-go because it's not exactly a sit and eat type of place.

If you're from the Bay Area and have never had SoCal Mexican food, I can see how this place would be weird, greasy, and not all that memorable. HOWEVER, if you're a transplant, spent any time at all in SoCal and yearn for some greasy, cheesy, bad for you Mexican food, then you'll be in heaven.

I for one have traveled out to Fairfield for a breakfast burrito because you just can't get one like it any where else. I lived around the block from the Adalberto's in San Diego and can't begin to tell you how much I crave their potato, egg and cheese burritos.

And for the guy from San Diego who went out and got the carne asada fries, of course they're not a big deal. They are run of the mill, but if you can't get anything like it any where else, they are divine.

Can San Diego style taqueria options be found in Northern Cali?  Adalberto's says "YES!" This is a small stand alone drive thru with a few indoor and outdoor seating options that serves up the kind of taqueria food that those lucky enough to have spent a considerable amount of time in the San Diego crave.

    Rolled Tacos:  Check
    California Burrito:  Check
    Carne Asada Fries:  CHECK!!!

It breaks my heart and eases my mind that this place is just a little too far to visit every weekend or I would have one more excuse to skip out on the gym.

Although they don't serve perfection (the carne asada was cold and not grilled to order leading to unmelted cheese, the fries were on the oily and soggy side) it's still comforting to know that on occasion I can take a drive up to Fairfield and enjoy some SoCal Messican eats!

I don't live near here so it means I have to drive an hour and 45 minutes with heartburn to get home...

Carne Asada Fries = A platter of French Fries covered in Carne Asada, Guacamole, Sour Cream, Salsa, Onions, and Cheese...  I think I gained 2 pounds just describing that...

California Burrito = Carne Asada, Rice, Cheese, and French Fries (all INSIDE the burrito).

Now if you are looking for traditional Mexican cuisine...  Aldaberto's is NOT the place.  If you are looking for a greasy, fatty, tasty meal that kinda resembles Mexican food, then Aldaberto's IS the place.

I have been obsessing about California burritos for a few weeks now.  I knew I had to brave the valley heat and make the trek out to Fairfield to see if it was true... that there really is a 24/7 SD taco shop in NorCal.  See, Adalberto's has been in my  bookmarks for over a year now, (I know.  I have a problem.  I'm coming to terms with it.) so when Cherie Y., another SD burrito afficianado, suggested a trip out to the valley for lunch and outlet spelunking I knew it was time: "Dude... we're going to -berto's".

When we walk in, they're grilling the carne asada - there's at least 30 lbs of meat on the grill and it smells goooood.  So naturally we have to go for a beef trifecta: rolled tacos, california burrito, and carne asada fries.

Thanks to the powers of Yelp we knew to order the fries extra crispy, and they were like the carne asada fries of my dreams.  (Yes, I dream about mexican food.  Like I said.  Problem.)  The nice touch is that they use both the yellow cheese - please don't pretend it's cheddar -and mexican cheese on the guacamole.

The California burrito was good enough to satisfy my fix, but the tortilla didn't really wow me.  That, and the lack of a hot carrots & salsa bar left part of my nostalgia unfulfilled.

On the plus side, I was delighted to discover that the tray liners are square, which makes for great origami.

    UPDATE: 12/14/2007
Finally made a return trip, and ordered up 5 rolled tacos with guacamole and cheese for dine in, and 2 california burritos to-go. The dudes behind the counter were like "let us know when you're done eating, then we'll make the burritos fresh for when you leave." How friggin' cool is that?

Whoah, what?! Carne Asada fries in northern California?!  GTFO!!!  G. T. F. O!!!

I had the California burrito (fries + carne asada), and the fries in both the Carne Asada fries and the burrito were limp and soggy like a dongy after doing the dirty.  But the burrito had an impressive amount of beef.

After inhaling the grease, I've come to the conclusion that this burrito factory will never get as close to Roberto's in San Diego, but they try pretty hard.   Hey, they got the "alberto's" in the name right?

I came out of the eatery smelling like grilled beef.  Maybe the tables outside will help next time.

YES! California Burritos and Carnes Asada Fries in Nor Cal! You would think that California Burritos would be easily obtained all over CA, but unfortunately, the majority of mexican restaurants in Nor Cal do not serve these 2 amazing items.

While it is not as tasty as the ones I've had in San Diego, it is still hella good, and I'm so happy that I've finally found a location in Nor Cal (because driving to So Cal just for food was getting just a little to ridiculous).  Since this place is open 24 hours, I can easily hit this place up while I am trekking over to the slopes.

Barely a step up from Baldo's in Vacaville but I can give it that second star because I'm ok with coming here. They usually get your order right and even put up with not so smart customers

Lady in Drive thru,  "ummm, what's the difference between a rolled taco and a regular taco??"

Loved the option to eat outside =]

I love this place for three reasons:

    giant, greasy burritos for cheap.

    the hottest sauce ever.

    the best horchata on earth.

I love the fact that this place is open 24 hours a day, but I hate the fact that it is so far from my house!

I only eat the California Burrito and the rolled tacos because they use a lot of scrambled eggs which I can't eat! Other than that everything smells good and look good!

So for me, the best thing about this place is that it's 24 HOURS and has a drive thru.

The food is not the best, but it's decent.  So far I have had:

    * Pollo Asada Torta (Chicken Sandwich), it was a total mess the bottom piece of bread was torn.  It was absolutely impossible to eat and not that great.  I don't like the Pollo Asada much I would recommend ordering a different meat.

*Carne Asada Quesadilla (Beef Cheese Tortilla), this thing was dripping grease (which I love!).  The carne asada was pretty good, very satisfying.  But, again very hard to eat for drive thru food.  It was not sliced at all.  But, I was starving so I just ate it like a savage.  Very very greasy and heavy in the tummy though.

*Horchata (Milky, Cinnamony drink), soooo good you should definately have this as your drink.  But, I would recommend asking for just a little ice.  I think that they put too much, and thus you don't get enough actual beverage.

But, still the best thing about this place in the convenience factor.  All night drive thru and definately better than Taco Bell or Del Taco.

3 1/2 stars for some carne asada fries

only place I can honestly say they do carne asada fries right is actually not in the bay area but in San Diego = (

This spot is open 24/7 by fairfield I believe the Travis AFB exit if im correct. I guess if your drunk or need something filling this would be a perfect spot to hit up, must have the food within 3-5 min after ordering if not it will be more of a soggy mess, this is only in regards to the fries. The service is quick, price is cheap, driving here from Sac and transporting these fries to their final destination in the bay area was not worth the stop off, again a must have within the 3-5 min when ordered.

I'm grading this spot more on taste then anything else, the fries are the similar kind that McDonalds offer thin but unlike McDonalds theirs were not salted, cheese, guac, sourcream standard with nachos, in regards to portion they pack it on there is no denying portion at this spot, but the taste for me was not all there meat was a lil bland, I've had my share of carne asada fries at other places this one again is good if your looking for a filler for a long drive or if your drunk and will eat anything to get full

for you weight consious definitely not a spot you ever want to visit, EVER!! haha

food *** just alright (if drunk - perfect spot to eat)
    portion ***** huge portions
    price $
    service ***** quick, friendly
    ambiance ***

P.S. they do take debit cards alot of folks told me it was cash only

Beware... This place isn't for everybody!  If your stomach cannot handle the repercussions of some greasy, yet bomb ass Mexican food in MASS amounts, stay away kid!  If you think you're up to the challenge, then this is definitely the place to be!

Adalbertos was my saving grace after my late night gigs DJ'ing.  I'd always get either the California burrito w/sour cream or the Chorizo & potatoes burrito, both always paired with a large horchata to wash it down.  Those used to tear up my insides afterwards, but it was sooo worth it! LOL.
