Excellent local business!
I went in to the flower shop and was blown away by the showroom feel. Lots of cool knick-knacks, wind chimes, crystals, and fountains. Plenty of potted plants, as well as alluring displays of beautiful flowers. Overall, a very tranquil feel that lends itself to endless perusing.
The staff was very friendly, with several coming up to offer me assistance in my aimless wandering. No no, that blank look on my face is from "peace of brain."
I'll have to come back to see what the nursery has to offer.
And next time, no boring bouquet order from me. Time to branch out. :p -

El Sobrante, CA
Just moved to the area and thought I would check out Adachi Florist and Nursery. It seems to be a very small family run place. Not much staff to help a customer out, but the man working in the nursery really knew his plants. Prices were higher then OSA or Home Depot, but they have plants there that I have not seen at the other places.
Inside the store itself is a little bit of a maze, I would not want to be here if it ever got busy. Small selection of tools, fertilizer, and weed killers. The gift store was okay, very small selection of things ranging from christmas type items to fountains and wind chimes. Small florist area in the far left area of the shop, seemed to be nicely priced and had some very nice displays of their work. -

El Sobrante, CA
I have purchased and grown peas, beans, peppers, tomatoes, kale, spinach, zucchini, cauliflower, strawberries, and chard, from Addachi's and they have all flourished and produced great great crops.
The staff is knowledgeable.
And by the way, No one greats me either as I enter. Is it because I wear an A's hat? Probably has nothing to do with my choice of head gear.
And when you ask for help, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. No matter what you look like. -

Adachi Florist and Nursery is always a place I visit. Although it is not a huge size nursery, its plants are healthy. You often can find some pretty unusual plants in the nursery that will add a bit of interest to you garden or patio. More importantly, its employees are knowledgeable and will answer any questions you may have no matter whether it is which plants would do well on your patio, the difference between two rose bushes, how to care for a houseplant or how to plant Spring bulbs.
I also have a great fondness for looking inside the shop. Their houseplant section has a variety of plants. All of them are extremely healthy.Their silk flower arrangements are in a wide price range and are artfully executed.
One of the things that pleases me the most is that I can come in with a favorite vase or bowl and they will create a gorgeous arrangement with silk, dried or fresh flowers. I still get complements when I put out the dried arrangement they made for me years ago. Although they are well known for their Japanese flower arrangements, the do beautiful traditional arrangements, as well. One of their flower arrangers has had decades of training with a well known teacher in the Japanese Sogetsu style.
Adachi is always enjoyable to visit. No matter who is behind the counter, in the shop or in the nursery, you will always be greeted with courtesy, a smile and excellent service.
Spent a bit more time yesterday afternoon as a few of their tiny mechanical toys were operating. It was fun to see a miniature ice rink complete with twirling skaters, a sparkly, lit ferris wheel and a tiny bumper car scene complete with careening cars. I also wore out the floor in front of their pretty floor and table top fountains. They are not the typical ones you see at other stores. -

[1] Their master nurserymen are extremely knowledgeable.
[2] The quality of their plants are better but prices are higher. Plants at OSH/HD look sickly by comparison.
[3] Their floral designers are exceptionally talented artistically. Most of the female family members are trained in Sogetsu-ryu, a school of Ikebana. Great place for arrangements, prom corsages, wedding and funeral arrangements. Their Xmas wreaths are always a standout. Yes, pricey, but do you want it to look really nice?
[4] Their gift ware: they have unusual things that you won't find anywhere else. Orchids in large glass vases with Siamese fighting fish swimming among the roots. Some exceptional Japanese ceramics. Go here for cool and one of a kind gifts.
[5] Really really nice family and employees. -

Best (only?) "mom and pop" nursery in the West Co Co County area - and I'd gladly pay their price just to not have to go to Home Depot. But I do have to say that with some careful price watching, and being willing to buy the smaller version of plants, I can usually get out of there for just about the same or less than I would spend anywhere else - and I know I have a better quality plant! All of their plants are way better taken care of than at HD, they actually water every day!
They not only have the "normal" plants that large commerical nurseries have, but also some unusual plants. If you're looking for a unique and nice plant for your garden check here. This is where I bought my Kangaroo Paw, Ruby Bells, Key Lime Pie, and Tiger's Paw plants. They also have beautiful pre-arranged potted plant gardens that you can purchase if you'd like, and they have a large indoor plant section too.
The fifth star is for their dedication to their community. Just today I took a FREE 2 HOUR COMPOSTING CLASS there, and I won a free composter in their raffle! I drove home very happy today. -

Love this place. Adachi is a family owned business that's been in El Sob for years. The owners (elderly couple) and their employees know anything and everything there is to know about gardening, how to raise a hibiscus, how to properly plant an apple tree, how to nurture an orchid plant or a rose bush. Highly knowledgeable staff. They've gained this intelligence from hands-on experience at this nursery. You won't find their knowledge, excellent customer service, or friendly faces anywhere else - not at Home Depot, not at Lowes', or Rite Aide. You can even order roses for your significant other, fresh cut flowers for mother's day, and a corsage for prom here.

El Sobrante, CA
This place is EXPENSIVE, if you are ordering something arranged. But of course for the price very beautiful arrangements come out, but be prepared to spend some. Growing up in El Sob, my mom introduced me to this place as a child, so unfortunately I almost feel obligated to come here. But the employees never remember me or make me feel exceedingly welcome, so as a native I feel kind of disappointed/hurt, but regardless, its a family owned business, and they do have really creative employees that take care of arrangements/made to order bouquets.
I give it 4 stars because of the pricing ( a little outrageous sometimes... ) -

I moved to beautiful El Sobrante about a year ago and was happy to find the Adachi nursery close by as I was planning my first garden.
I was not greeted by anyone even though several employees were present ,passing me by several times. I was greeted by cold stares or avoidance. Could it be because I am a Muslim and wear a scarf ?
I didn't know until I read the other reviews saying how pleasant and friendly the staff was to them. I will not be frequenting that business again. Instead I go down to Berkeley Horticulture where I am treated with the same kindness and respect that I treat others and that every human being deserves -

If the prices are high, they well make up for it in knowledge, a scarce commodity these days. I practically grilled the man there and he had an in depth answer to every one. I walked out of there knowing infinitely more than I had along with some great potting soil and herbs. I will definitely be back to spend lots of moola on some hard to find beauties. They also have some cute (and huge) water fountains and a thorough supply of exceptional plant products. I just wish I were a little closer to them.

This place is great! I'm not even much of a gardener and I could spend several hours walking around and looking at all of the different varieties every couple of weeks. The staff is friendly and helpful--there when you need 'em, but not overbearing. Can't imagine going to the Home Depot for plants again unless I was absolutely desperate.

Well, I've been going here to Adachi for the past year. It is a fun little nursery to visit because of all the healthy plants they carry. The prices might be a little higher than other places or big name stores but, just remember that you get what you pay for. You want healthy plants, be prepared to pay a little more. You want cheap unhealthy plants, go somewhere else. They have quite a diverse selection and the people who work there can answer pretty much any question you have for them. I don't know about some people complaining about not being greeted and all that because that has never happened in my experiences. Maybe the CUSTOMER needs to crack a smile once in a while. It helps you know. Support this nursery since it is a small family type business. Don't believe all those silly negative one star reviews. You have to remember, they only tell you 1/2 of the full story. Adachi is awesome.
