Over a cold, beautiful Valentine's Day weekend, my girlfriend and I had a fabulous time at this cute Bed & Breakfast in the mid-cape. It was actually my first experience in a B&B, and after this it certainly won't be the last.
It is located along Route 6A, surrounded by historical houses and eclectic shops as well as many nice-looking restaurants. This was a perfect take-off point for exploring the entire Cape - as a day trip we drove to Provincetown, stopping along the way at Boardwalks, beaches and stores. The first night we had dinner in Hyannis, the second night at the Blue Moon Bistro just a few miles away.
The house, and everything in it, is completely cute. It is clear that the innkeeper had dreamed and planned every aspect of this place for years, and she is one of those lucky few people who love their job. The afternoon we arrived to the smell of baking brownies and her warm welcome. Our room at a wood-burning fireplace (quite romantic) and a surprisingly large bathroom.
Breakfast was a treat - 3 courses, made to order by the innkeeper, delicious and unique. Items included grilled pineapple and cream, scrambled eggs Benedict, macadamia nut french toast, and pear muffins. Nice coffee is abundant. The kitchen is so comfortable, cozy, and relaxing with a deep red paint and coordinated decor.
While I had tried to plan ahead a bit on the web to find sites and restaurants, the innkeeeper is deeply knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful in making your vacation all the better. We appreciated her advice to check out the Atlantic Spice Company, and she knew what was open in the winter.
A note on the Cape in the winter - I haven't been there in the summer, but provided that you can bundle up and take warming breaks in between adventures outside, I loved it. The lack of a crowd, and the untouched snow blanketing historic houses was perfect for this weekend get-away. I'm glad that the Acworth Inn could be a part of our Valentine's Day - it was a trip to remember, and we'll be recommending the place if our families' visit in the future.
On price - pretty standard for the off season Cape. I was willing to pay more to get a room with a fireplace and private bathroom, so I'd say this is one step up from the total budget-value. With the quality and quantity of the breakfast, figure in that you can basically skip lunch. -

If you read my reviews you know I usually only speak up when I have something to warn you about, but this place is the complete opposite. This IS A MUST STAY. I stayed here only for a night with my girlfriend, but she was super accommodating, polite and above all genuine. She made us feel like we were staying for a month's time, gave us suggestions, told us how to get around and what to do. I will definitely be staying there next trip to the Cape. Nice to meet you and I look forward to being able to return.
