I'd had acupuncture from Dr. Aquilino Soriano for 5+ years. I've used a dozen or so acupuncturists throughout my life, with mostly excellent results. Dr. Soriano is the best acupuncturist I've ever used. I'm a beach volleyball hack, and Dr. Soriano keeps me out on the court.
Dr. Soriano uses a combination of acupuncture/herbal/stretching to fix what isn't working. He's been successful fixing my back, allergies, elbow, shoulder, toe, the list goes on.
If you're not familiar with acupuncture, it really works! It's especially effective for tendinitis-type injuries. The good thing about acupuncture is that you'll know on your first visit if it'll work for you. If it doesn't relieve your symptoms by the time you leave, it's not working.
I highly recommend Dr. Soriano and Acusport so much that I have paid to send others (my father-in-law, appraiser) to relieve their aches and pains. Two thumbs way up!! -

Sometimes i wonder what a person's background is when reading these yelp reviews (especially regarding health stuff) so here's mine...:
diagnosed with chronic pain issues over 15 years ago
lingering pain from hip surgery 3 years ago
college degree in exercise physiology
dance teacher
15 + years of working with alternative therapies
new transplant to san diego...
I feel so lucky to have found Acusport!!
I cannot even express my gratitude for the work I've had done here. I've been working with Lili Gould for 6 months now and the progress I've made has been really amazing. Not only is she an amazing acupuncturist, she is also a really thoughtful and caring person. Her attention to detail and desire to help me get better is really unique these days in the world of healthcare and I just feel so fortunate to have found her.
As we've progressed I've added massage therapy with Caitlin to my regiment and she has really been wonderful as well! Great hands and really receptive to what the body needs.
Having an office with such diverse practitioners is really such a great benefit to going to Acusport because not only is it convenient but it makes for such a higher quality of care because the providers can talk to each other and really team up to help push you on the path toward leading a healthier and happier life :)
The office staff is equally pleasant to interact with. Very friendly and helpful. Even before the treatment, walking into the office already gives a feeling of peace and wellness.
The pricing maybe higher than some other offices but the quality of care here is worth every dime. -

I want to preface this review by saying before going to acusport i was in pretty debilitating pain and my frustration was though the roof. Being an extremely active person and athlete, the crippling experience from a pinched nerve made a month feel like and eternity.
After my first visit with Jordan, I was beyond impressed. He gave me both answers and hope were doctors and physical therapists could not. I experienced results even after my first visit. I am still being treated as the road to recovery is often a slow one but I owe it all to this place. The price and value are fantastic!!!
For me, the staff, service, and experience could not earn a higher recommendation. AWESOME and WONDERFUL. Thanks again.

I started going to AcuSport after a car accident in 2007. I was getting acupuncture at another clinic with slow results and I wanted to treat the back injuries holistically.
A friend suggested seeing Vasa and Matt, after a few treatments I was amazed at how much better I felt. They suggested physical therapy and the healing process improved rapidly.
Last year, I started riding dirt bikes and did something to trigger the back pain. By the time I went in, I could barely walk. I went to see Aqualino. One session with him and he had me back on my dirt bike and riding again the following week.
Recently I went to see Vasa. I felt like the hunchback and a pain level was close to what I felt after the accident and after the treatment and a day of rest I am back to my normal routine.
Vasa takes the time to teach his interns and give them valuable instruction. This is so important to their education process plus they give great messages.
I decided to start going back for quarterly tune-ups. I would really love to do it every week if I could.
I agree with Starlight "LOVE, LOVE, LOVE". -

Aqualino is AMAZING! He is my "primary physician" and I see him for everything including chronic sports/stress injuries, allergies, depression, and colds. I always feel like I'm getting 3 treatments for the price of one, because he includes massage, assisted stretching and cupping or moxa when necessary. He also diagnosed my son's refined sugar allergy in 5 minutes with muscle testing, after numerous specialists in the mainstream medical world failed with their invasive and uncomfortable tests. What a blessing it has been for my son after years of suffering a painfully itchy rash, to be finally free by changing his diet.

This glowing review for Yael is long overdue. I've been seeing Yael Ben-Porat off and on (as new issues present themselves) for several years, and have been healed, educated and supported each and every time. I recently thought my lower back pain was a result of excessive bending with small children, and as a long distance runner just thought I would learn to live with the pain. Instead, Yael accurately diagnosed a hip issue and treated me and got my body back to alignment through acupuncture, massage, stretching and "homework" assignments. I consider myself a very picky client in many ways, including wanting to know what's happening and the science behind treatments. I always have an arsenal of questions. Yael continues to be patient (and playful) in helping me learn to stay in touch with my body and encourages knowledge. More than that, though, is the undercurrent that Yael brings to treatments. She has a deep wisdom about her, and she is keen to issues, struggles and situations specific to women. Through excellent, spot-on acupuncture and other Eastern techniques, Yael has brought me to greater internal balance, which has clearly affected my external balance. Yael is my go-to doctor for health, healing, increasing energy, and general maintenance. From head (headaches) to toe (running issues), Yael is gifted and skilled at getting to the problem and restoring health to the body. Highly recommend!

VASA and Accusport are a godsend to athletes. Initially I didnt know if accupuncture could help me with my sports related injuries (JiuJitsu / MMA). VASA completely changed my mind after seeing him and his professional staff on the first visit. He is also an athlete (Blackbelt in JiuJitsu) and knows and respects the different types of injuries and pain we face. If you are in any type of pain, especially sports related, Vasa and his team can get you back to being healthy. Since my initial visit I have been going to Vasa for about 3 years and he is always able to help. Can't recommend him highly enough!

I went to see Jordan Allen for my ankle that I injured working out. I was worried about it because I hate to be slowed down. Jordan knows his stuff! If you need real relief and quickly, he is your man. The place has easy parking and I was greeted with a smile. Most importantly, after just a couple of treatments my ankle is already almost 100%. Thank you Jordan!

If you are an athlete and you have an injury or pain, skip your HMO doctor and go to Acusport. I was training for a marathon and 12 weeks before the marathon my foot began to have serious pain running inside the arch. I went to my regular doctor who didn't even touch the foot or look at and simply recommended "ice and ibuprofen" and handed me the phone list for podiatrists affiliated with her. I called and the first available appointment was about two months away. Luckily, my trainer Adam was working as a student (going to school to become an acupuncturist) at Acusport and told me to head in.
I went to Matt Callison and immediately he got down to business. He told me to take off both shoes, he flexed my foot, had me stand and hold different positions, had me lay on the table and had me do some more positions and strength tests after which he told me I had strained my arch (well it was a little more medically technical than that, but I'm not a doctor so I can't remember the jargon anymore). He performed acupuncture and a sports massage on me and instructed me to get "Happy Feet" inserts for my shoes. I asked if I was going to be able to run the marathon and he was cautiously optimistic.
I went back to Matt about four days later and we did the same treatment. He told me to go ahead and run five miles on grass to see how it felt. If it felt okay, I wouldn't have to see him again. I felt great! My foot felt fine.
I went back about a month before the marathon and saw Vasa. He too was great and treated a small strain on the same foot - this time on the top of my foot.
As you can see I was dead set on running the marathon. Well, I ran it and finished it! I was pretty slow, but super happy that I could do it after two injuries late in my training. Acupuncture allowed me to complete my six months of training.
I recently returned to Acusport for hip pain (guess which side - the same side as my foot - my body is definitely out of whack). It was bad enough that I noticed it when I was sleeping and even when I was walking. I saw Vasa twice and now my hip pain has almost completely subsided. I'm going to start running again in about a week - YAY!
Vasa rocks - as Gabrielle mentioned he is mellow but very cool. Although I hope I don't get any more injuries, if I do I'll be heading to Acusport. -

LOVE! LOVE LOVE AcuSport!
Yes, if you're sporty, and you have injuries (capoeira and beach volleyball junkie over here), acupuncture is the way to get it fixed up right, and AcuSport has everything you need to get taken care of - with a reputation for taking care of athletes.
Additionally, due to the holistic approach to acupuncture, it's a great way to get all of those body imbalances back in line. I see Lili (who is soooo awesome, friendly and supportive) like a primary physician - and the difference in my life has been epic. I've gone in with serious injuries, "problem areas", slight complaints and common colds and had fantastic results.
If you haven't had acupuncture done before, you can be introduced slowly by your practitioner - but take it from me (and apparently darn near everyone on this review page) that it's really effective and avoids the downfalls of a "pro-drug" medical society. -

Finding symmetry,
whole body healing, knee fix
not take two aspirins
-------------------------------------------------
I'm active and get knee problems for some reason. "Regular" doctors always tell me to take anti-inflammatories and go to PT. PT is okay, but they never have gotten me back in shape like acupuncture, massage, symmetry has.
There's also something about a whole body approach that appeals to me. I like it when they look at my tongue or ask more pertinent questions about my "system." Dehydration, stress, bad eating...it all plays a role.
Aquilino rocks (and is a surfer). I could go on...PM me if you have questions. -

In September 2008, I developed severe lower back pain in my sacroiliac joint - my range of motion was extremely limited and I couldn't sit down for more than 10 minutes without wincing in pain. Forget sleeping, and exercise for that matter...I went a month thinking it would get better on it's own, and when it didn't, I was desperate for a solution.
A friend recommended me to Vasa and AcuSport, and at first I was a little nervous because I wasn't sure how acupuncture would help me. During my first appointment, Vasa and his team (acupuncturists in-training) took a lot of measurements of my hips and checked my range of motion before needling me. I felt immediate relief after the first treatment, but continued treatment for approximately 3 months. Vasa has also addressed other aches and pains with acupuncture, electric stimulation, massage, and stretching. After every session, he gave me certain exercises to do to strengthen my weak areas. While some people say that acupuncture may be expensive, I was never in the clinic for less than 2 hours. DEFINITELY worth the price!!!! Vasa and his team are extremely knowledgeable, KIND, and very much care about their client's well-being.
Now that I have moved away from San Diego, I have yet to find another acupuncturist who is as good as Vasa. If you are an athlete and you are experiencing an injury, give acupuncture (at AcuSport) a try. It is an excellent method that WORKS. I believe in it 100%! Vasa is the BEST!!!!!!!!!! -

I'll start by saying I have pretty severe back and neck issues. I've had acupuncture before so this was not new to me. I was in severe pain and called day of, they squeezed me in for an appt even though they were booked. I was so grateful but how long would this last (well lets just see if I'm as happy when I leave). I was seen by Lilli (Elizabeth) Gould who was very sweet and wow can she do her thing. I felt relief but was met the next morning with a different issue. I saw Lilli the next day and instantly knew I'd feel better. She assured me we will get through this. I felt 100% better by that evening.
I was given acupuncture, cupping and light massage with stretching. I cannot thank the office & Lilli enough for seeing me that day , I was defiantly at my wits end. I recommend this place completely. parking in back is free. I LOVE LILLI AND ACUSPORT! -

I have been to several acupuncturists over the last few years. All are NOT created equal in this field!
I saw Lili Gould at Acusport. Originally, I went in for treatment of IBS and stress issues. With Lili's help, I discovered that I was misdiagnosed with IBS, and she guided me through a combination of supplements and acupuncture treatments that eliminated all of the symptoms that were dragging me down. I even lost a couple of pounds in the process, woo hoo! Since I was so pleased with the results, I've continued seeing her for treatment for other minor concerns.
Lili has a natural talent for applying the needles (this is the part where not all acupuncturists are equal). She does more than just acupuncture (although that is all you pay for). She gives massage, cupping, supplement consultation, etc. She seems to genuinely care for her patients, and her empathy is evident in her patience and non-judgemental response.
Acusport is awesome! -

I recently got a massage from Stephanie Borkan and I have to say it was a spectacular experience. I had a number of problem areas in my back from surfing and after the work she did I felt re-set! Moreover Stephanie is very attentive and its plainly obvious that she truly cares about her patients. I highly recommend her.

Just another 5 star review for Aqualino and his awesome practice. Everything I need fixed whether it be a sinus infection or my damned achilles tendon Aqualino has my back. I always feel a million times better when I leave his practice and his front office gals are super sweet too. I seriously love you guys!!!

OMG. I got the best massage from Stephanie. I would've never thought such a tiny girl could really give a nice deep massage. I was having some pain in my back from running, and she gave such an amazing massage. I am definitely going back to her. A friend suggested I go see her after he got a massage and I would recommend Stephanie to anyone in need of any type of massage. Even just a relaxation. Usually I'm used to massage therapists either going too light, or too hard, but I swear she used the perfect amount of pressure without me having to say anything.
Thank you Stephanie! I will definitely be back to see you ASAP! -

After 20 years of competitive sports and various health issues I have found Acusport to be the best whole health institute. The team at acusport has helped me thru rotator cuff and back injuries, as well as, allergies, LGS and colds. I've worked with Vasa, Matt, Jonathan and Melinda.
I highly recommend them. -

This clinic is staffed by highly skilled, knowledgeable, and professional practitioners. The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming. After trying practitioners all over town, I have never received such positive results or specialized treatment as I've experienced at AcuSport. Highly, highly recommended!

A colleague referred me to Patrick Mummy for my neck and back pain. He has an exceptionally good understanding of human anatomy, especially for a layman. His approach to chronic pain is unique and he has a very well organized treatment strategy. He has two offices-one in Ocean Beach and the other is in Northern California. Even though he commutes between the two, his treatment plans are all laid out on his secured website and he seems like he is never far from either his cell phone or his computer. He responds immediately via both. I highly recommend him to anyone who has chronic pain, especially neck and back pain or poor posture.

pros...well my buddy Jon Dodds LAc. practicing out of here. had a real bad bout with my back pain again, and so i called him to set up an appointment. had to have the wife drive me there, that's how bad the pain was.
got there and the place is set in a cool courtyard, with a nice babbling fountain, laughing buddhas and lots of plants and greenery. inside a nice big aquarium to amuse you. as for the treatment, felt so much better when i left. i could actually walk on my own without the need to winch or convulse because of the pain. felt at least 50% better then when i first got there. thanks Jon.
cons... just a bit far from me here in the south bay, bonita area. but well worth the drive. parking can be a pain, so i would say get a morning appointment. -

I was in a lot of pain with a splitting headache from a sinus infection and was able to get an appointment from Aqualino same day. Aqualino skillfully used acupuncture, massage, and cupping to open up my sinuses to relieve the pain and I felt much better as a result. They were very professional and pleasant to deal with. I will be coming back.

Aquilino ROCKS. I have been going to him for the past 6 months for combo allergies, back/neck pain, knee pain, anxiety etc. and he totally hooks it up every time. On top of the quality acupuncture, he has a great attitude, always makes me laugh and we have fascinating conversations. I couldn't have asked for more.
Vasa is equally cool but very different personality. He is way mellow and was great when I saw him for acupuncture ( I switched to Aquilino when Vasa left for a few weeks on vacation).
Caitlin is what brought me to Acusport. She hooked me up with a student discount on massage and I always left our appointments feeling a whole lot better. She is also very kind and intelligent...and currently training to be an acupuncturist! Double trouble, how cool is that?
I'm moving out of town and I will sorely miss all of the amazing people at Acusport. Thanks for taking such great care of me, guys! -

I've had extreme pain in my left shoulder blade down to my elbow and fingers for 6 years from an old Jiu Jitsu injury. It acts up when I go surfing. My first treatment was with Aqualino and he worked on my back and shoulder with acupuncture, massage and cupping. The rest of my treatments were with Vasa and he ran several test to find out what was going on. Vasa and his staff treated me once a week for a month and now my pain is nearly gone. The team at Acusport are very attentive and knowledgeable in treating sports injuries. Thank You!

I am fairly fit...(okay I am an excercise addict!) and my body breaks down every now and again. Currently, I am in my 2nd month of P90X and my hip flexors are killing me. My husband suggested I go visit Dr Aquilino and have him put some needles in me. Well, I had gotten acupuncture years ago, so I knew a little bit about the practice. Atfter three visits to Dr. Aquilino, I am a fan! This man is very, very nice. He is honestly interested in my health and recovery process. The office is clean and the staff are extremely friendly. After each visit, I walk out feeling better. Thanks to Dr. Aqulino I haven't had to miss a workout! Gotta love it.

The whole team is great.I have worked with Aquilino and Matt as well as received treatment, they are fabulous. Vasa is a great healer too.
