I am a big fan of community acupuncture, and Acupuncture Together is a great model. They offer other resources too such as information on specific conditions (i.e. trying to quit smoking, cancer, etc), herbal treatments, and various other products. I especially appreciate their special offers like discounts for the unemployed and very affordable introductory packages. I've been sharing with everyone I know to check Acupuncture Together out!
Booking my first appointment was easy. I did it through their website portal and received email reminders of my appointment. I drove to their offices and was grateful to learn they provide parking passes to their clients for the lot behind their building. The offices are comfortable and cozy - offering tea, water, and healthy snacks as you wait. The acupuncture room is quite large and fits many clients - which is good because they seem to have a large devoted client base. The seats offered are relaxing. Plus, they offer warmers for your bare feet during your session.
The acupuncturist, Jess Butler, was wonderful. During the intake meeting, she asked questions based on my intake form to get a better sense of my problems. I appreciate her holistic approach, and she never hesitated to answer my questions in detail. During my first session, Jess made sure I was comfortable and even walked me through a breathing exercise as she inserted the needles in specific points of my body. She has a very gentle touch, and I highly recommend her, especially for first-timers to acupuncture. But that gentle touch is matched with her rich knowledge in the field because I felt the power of the session almost immediately. After the session, Jess didn't just pull out the needles and walk away. She took notice of my body's reactions to the needles and shared her expertise of the reactions with me.
I'm already looking forward to my next treatment! -

My grandmother had been telling me for years to go get acupuncture for my horrible allergies/sinuses (my house needs to have a tissue box every 5 feet and I take medication every day so that I can function like a normal human being... who sneezes and blows her nose about every hour for the day).
Fast forward about 10 years, and I finally make an appointment to go see an acupuncturist. The price tag was insane, and I thought that maybe I can go in for regular sessions when I marry someone with awesome insurance (as it wasn't covered by mine!) or when I start making some big bucks!
And then... I somehow stumbled upon Acupuncture Together and it saved my life! Serious!
They're on a sliding scale, so I can go in for a treatment that's literally a half (the highest of the scale) or a quarter of the price of "regular" treatment. LOVE! Joanna's always up for a discount!
The people who work here are also super friendly and nice, and I feel so... relaxed when I come here. I usually fall asleep (I'm a fan of the armchairs, although it took me a session to figure out how to make it go back).
Now that I've moved out of state, I really miss them, and I can feel my allergies coming back with a vengeance (well, that and it's pollen season!).

Acupuncture Together offers good quality acupuncture, at an amazing price, in a peaceful space, and the location is great. Their schedule is good for me, too.
The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that I feel I don't get as thorough an exam as I used to get when seeing students and traditional acupuncturists: tongue, pulse, questions about sleep quality, digestion, and so forth. It's only a rushed conversation to get the top few symptoms, and then it's in with the needles. Once in a while they check pulse or tongue, but I'm guessing it's one out of every five visits or so. Maybe my conditions are so chronic that nothing changes and there's no point! Who knows.
Anyway, in a "community" setting and at this price point, I think the mini-exam is totally reasonable. But if I had the money, I'd be going - at least once in a while - to a practitioner who can afford the time to be more thorough. Yes, the treatments are effective, but maybe they'd be more effective if someone were taking a closer look at me and taking the time to think through their approach.
Just to end on a positive note: Justine cured me of tendonitis in both wrists! The treatments are excellent for stress and fatigue, my main issues. I wish I could go several times a week. -

Acupuncture Together is wonderful! I cannot recommend it highly enough. My experience with acupuncture has always been in a private room, so I wasn't sure what to expect from the more communal experience at Acupuncture Together - I was surprised at how relaxing and comforting it is. The staff at A.T. are lovely and knowledgable and the prices are more than reasonable.For anyone new to acupuncture who reads some of the negative reviews below, I would point out that acupuncture tends to work best cumulatively - One wouldn't eat healthfully for one meal and then say a diet is ineffective because they hadn't experienced dramatic results overnight.

My girlfriend had made an appt here and so I got a last minute appt and tagged along. I have been searching for a new acupuncturist that I would feel as comfortable with as my previous one. I was a little nervous since it was community acupuncture, but since I was in so much pain from breaking my clavicle and having it surgically repaired I was willing to try anything to help me not take as much pain meds.
the place was great. easy to find. clean. neat. and justine was amazing. she listened and helped me figure out a treatment plan to help me manage my pain. I feel better pain wise, but even more importantly I feel calmer. Acupuncture helps center me and relieves stress from my job. I am no longer worried about community acupuncture. its great. I didn't even realize people were around me once I was settled in. plus you can stay as long as you need (as long as they are open). tonight I completely needed the whole time I was there. I was so relaxed I actually fell asleep, which is a good sign for me.
I have already booked 4 more appts. They are reasonably priced on a sliding scale, which helps me be able to afford more than 1 appt a week. -

I came to Acupuncture Together because I had a really bad case of tinnitis (ear whooshing, pressure, and pulsing if you haven't been so lucky.) It had been developing for a few weeks, and was getting steadily worse, to where the symptoms bothered me all day long. After four sessions of acupuncture with Christine, as well as Chinese herbs, my symptoms are gone. What a huge relief! The clinic is conveniently located near Davis Square, it's a calm and peaceful office, and Justine is great. This is definitely my go-to place now anytime I have health issues. It is easy to schedule appointments and you don't have to wait weeks in advance. And best of all it is affordable.

Acupuncture Together is an amazing combination of high quality and low cost acupuncture. Justine is very talented and extremely professional. I have yet to be treated by anyone else, but I have heard very good things about the other acupuncturists (anecdotally from other patients).
I have been treated many times for stress and have had very good results. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing.
I had never heard of Community Acupuncture before I came to Acupuncture Together, but it is a groundbreaking way of making this service available to people of all means (particularly those who need treatment the most). The sliding scale makes this place affordable for everyone.

I have several different chronic injuries and sought acupuncture for relief. I had never had a treatment before but chose community acupuncture because it was much more affordable.
Justine listened and gave honest feedback about what I could expect from treatment. She was able to greatly improve several of my aches and pains without recommending excessive treatments (no more than 2x week). Furthermore, no matter how much time elapsed between visits she was able to remember the specifics of my case as well as the particular points on my body where the needles would be most effective. It is remarkable.
The treatments themselves are fantastic, painless and extremely relaxing. The time just melts away and I always leave feeling better than when I arrived.
I highly recommend Acupuncture Together for overall wellness at an affordable price. -

Acupuncture Together has been terrific for me. As a nail tech, I spend my days hunched over and performing tiny, repetitive motions with my hands. I assumed discomfort was just something I'd have to tough out in order to do what I love. I was wrong!
Justine's thorough intake and assessment of my problems allayed any worries I had about "hippie mumbo-jumbo" and then she gave me my first treatment. Wow! Not to gush too much but she's definitely magic. Not only did I get relief during my first treatment, I also got sleep! Frankly, sleep is not something I excel at, but every time I go for a treatment, I zonk right out and sleep like a baby that night and the following night. Yep... definitely magic.
Her space is pretty, soothing and CLEAN. She's the consummate professional and I see her every week. Even my mum, who's not a huge fan of needles, enjoyed her treatments and found lasting relief.

I've only gone here once, for job-related stress relief. It didn't work, but then again expecting results on the first session is probably unrealistic. I got needles in my hands, feet, and one in the middle of my forehead - bad ass. The prices are so cheap, and you can register online and make reservations from work!
Justine made my first acupuncture experience extremely comfortable and enjoyable. She's one of those people that glows when you look at them. She radiates kindness and peace - I think I'm in love. -

I went in for a weird pain in my left arm.
Justine was fairly nice, the room was relaxing. I wasn't really a fan of the area, but the Bus down Mass Ave ran pretty often.
Came out not really impressed with acupuncture as I have needle bruises all up my right arm where the needles were from two weeks ago thus far. I know I bruise easily, but this is a bit extreme

Calm, friendly environment.
Justine is great. Patient, kind and very skilled.
Online booking is great. Sliding scale makes it affordable.
I wasn't sure how I would like the 'community' style acupuncture--but now I think its the only way. Its peaceful and comfortable and very quiet (but not lonely).

I randomly saw a flyer at Diesel Cafe for this place & I figured why not, I had only tried acupuncture twice before. Well this place is great. It's very neat, clean & organized, which I always think is representative of who you are working with.
In minutes I could breathe easier (allergy issues) & after I got home, (I was getting tired) & ending up sleeping pretty peacefully which doesn't happen very often.
I also find it great that Justine has a sliding scale for payment- no questions asked- which I think is also a great thing to do.
The only thing I found to be uncomfortable is sitting still, I am no good at that. I wish I could be more of a relaxed person in order to take a nap or something while in the lounge chair. -

Clean, organized, relaxing environment that fosters wellness. A comfortable and relaxed atmosphere that soothes while it energizes. It is a remarkably healthful way to spend time. Justine studied 3 years full-time to become a licensed acupuncturist. Her caring, kindness and attention to detail shows. It is obvious she loves her work and the people she serves. The sliding scale makes treatments very affordable.
I think one must be realistic that acupuncture won't necessarily"cure whatever ails you" during the first treatment, but it certainly had a very positive effect on me. I give Justine an A+ -

Acupuncture Together is a real gem. I discovered it through a friend a couple of years ago when I was dealing with a persistent cough that had lasted for a month after I came down with a cold. Various cough medicines and other prescriptions from my doctor didn't provide much help, but Justine DID! After getting both an acupuncture treatment and a course of herbs that she prepared for me (which you can dissolve in hot water), I was already feeling much better the next day... and my cough was completely gone in 3 days! Her acupuncture treatments and herbal remedies have also helped me through the flu, some serious jet lag, and overall work/personal stress.
Justine is great-- she's attentive, caring, and very professional. Her clinic is also very convenient to public transportation (only 5 minutes from Porter Square on the 77 bus). The clinic itself is clean and welcoming-- a very healing environment. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in one place at a very reasonable price with a wonderfully caring person-- who could ask for anything more? -

So I went to the free Open House this morning, and had a great experience.
Perhaps, however, I should preface this review with the story of my last acupuncturist. I go to a yoga studio that shares its building with different people, including an acupuncturist. For convenience, I figured I'd try their acupuncturist to see if I could get any help with the TMJ that's been plaguing me since childhood. The first time I went, the dude rigged up this giant wooden contraption and tubing right next to my face, and then sent smoke (presumably moxa, though I'm not quite convinced it wasn't "something else" considering how crazy high I felt afterwards) through it. He only ever kept needles in for about three seconds before pulling them out. It was very fast - he put them in, held them there, and pulled them out. Then sometimes he would burn stuff on my face. The last time I went, I had made the appointment for 5:00 because I had a yoga class at 6, and he said that'd be plenty of time. He didn't call me in until 5:40, at which point I told him it was too late, and yet he convinced me to go in anyways for an abbreviated (and cheaper) session. The whole thing was not very pleasant, I didn't really get much in the way of results, and it was crazy expensive. I couldn't afford to go as much as I should have been going, but I wasn't sure I wanted to go back anyways, so I started looking for a new acupuncturist. And then I saw the event listing on Yelp for Acupuncture Together's Grand Opening!
What a difference. While I initially thought I might be slightly uncomfortable in a room with many other people during the treatment, it wasn't uncomfortable at all. As soon as I walked into the office, Justine's family greeted me and were all super nice and helpful. I went into the community room and grabbed a comfy chair, and Justine talked to me a bit about my issues and then put the needles in and left me to relax. It was a calming experience and much different from my previous trips to the acupuncturist. I enjoyed it a lot, and I made an appointment to return next week. I've found my new acupuncturist, and I'm super excited about it. -

Justine(owner) treats me for allergies/sinus aches and body pain management. I have had herbs to manage sinus and cold/flu symptoms and acupuncture to treat chronic
shoulder+back pain. Her treatment is very professional and reliable. Justine is great for first time acupuncture patients because she can very simply and quickly translate "western" symptoms into "eastern" treatments and she's even better for people already familiar with acupuncture because she works in a Community setting and the 'sliding scale' rates are incredibly fair.--way more affordable than any other acupuncture i have encountered. on-line booking is a nice feature too -

If you have never tried acupuncture, you should try this! It is affordable and it is reassuring to have the company of others (perhaps even friends and family), using this as a way to recover your health. The "pins" are not like what you get at the doctor's office, but super slender, so seriously, there is only a light prick. Where before I woke up 7-10 times a night to go to pee, I now am able to sleep through the night. After 10 years of that, it is amazing to get a full night's sleep. You can either be scared of what you don't know, or, find a freedom you cannot imagine until you are there. Enjoy!

My highest recommendation to AcupunctureTogether! I have done acupuncture with good results elsewhere in the past, but this place has the best overall vibe and values, not to mention value as in very affordable. I was referred there by a friend; this is my 3rd week in treatment and I already am feeling improvement in all 3 of the problem areas I had, and I am having my son and my husband go in for consultations also.

Acupuncture together rocks! Acupuncture is so good for me for so many reasons-- sleep, relaxation, balance on many different levels. Justine's kindness, presence, generosity and efficiency makes it possible for me to get acupuncture OFTEN! I feel really taken care of every time I go. The space is warm and friendly, easy to get to. 5 stars for treating my plantar fasciitis after steroid injections, physical therapy, and surgery all failed to make a lasting difference! My sinuses are also significantly better. Justine is professional, the community atmosphere is surprisingly relaxing, and the building has parking. I do think that going fairly regularly is the key and you might sell yourself short if you try only once and then give up. Luckily, the sliding scale makes it easy to afford more frequent visits. The only negative I have found is bruising- I have had a couple of good-sized ones. Still, with all the positives, that won't keep me away.

Acupuncture Together is fantastic! I initially went because I was clenching my jaw and the dentist recommended a $400 mouth guard, not covered by my insurance. After a month of weekly visits, the tightness in my jaw was gone along with the tension in my back and my trouble sleeping through the night. Each visit was so relaxing and rejuvenating. Justine is very professional and keeps everything very clean and welcoming. Recently I have had trouble falling asleep at night and have felt on the verge of getting a cold. I told Justine about these problems at my last visit and she quickly decided where to place the needles. Within 10 minutes I was completely relaxed, my mind was empty and I fell asleep. I never got that cold I was expecting, and have had no trouble falling asleep. The communal setting of acupuncture together only adds to the experience. I highly recommend Acupuncture Together to anyone!!
