Just because the places doesn't look fancy on the outside does not make it a crappy place, it's actually a great friendly place with very very good food and the pricing is just right, it's friendly to all people all colors the music is great, parking is easy to find. I overall love the place i recommend it!!!!!!

Finally, I found good Dominican food! I ate La Bandera Dominicana (beef), so good! I am so happy :) @ Jeff brown people must scare you!  I don't see why Jeff felt akward or out of place maybe he's not used to being around people of color. The staff is welcoming and is your typical neighborhood bar.
The night I went they were blasting spanish music, the baby was crawling around and a drunk young couple were my entertainment.
Overall everything was great and everyone is welcomed regardless of your skin color, Jeff! Remember hispanics come  in all colors not just the brown one's that were in their the day you went.

From the outside this place seems very uninviting for white people.  It is primarily a latino hangout.  A few months ago they blacked out the windows which gives a "sketchy" vibe to the place.  I live just down the street and top that with drunk people stumbling out there and peeing right next to my house I would not be too upset to see it close down.

That being said I have been here once.  I was walking home from Wonderland one night and ended up chatting to some guys outside.  I came in for a drink and was the only white person there.  The bartenders seemed cute but I did feel out of place.

I have to give it a poor rating because I don't think the restaurant contributes well to the neighborhood but as a bar I don't have any complaints.  I would like to go back again - but nobody ever seems to want to go.  This again is because it seems very uninviting for yuppies.

One excellent thing about Acuario was that I tried to go here one night recently with a young lady.  We both spoke a little spanish and thought it would be fun.  It was closed and we had to make other plans but later she showed me her boob so thank you Acuario for being closed!!

I think the first review was a little harsh on this place.  Yes, most of the people who go there are latinos, but I don't think that makes it sketchy unless dark people frighten you.

This is a small bar/restaurant next to Columbia Heights coffee.  The place is your typical hole in the wall, but the food is really good authentic salvadoran food (hence the latinos in there) and the beer is cheap and cold.

I have only been there for lunch and the staff and patrons seem friendly enough.  It might be a different vibe at night.  For a good authentic latin place where more white people go, try El Rinconcito (across from the Giant), but I promise you latinos won't bite you if you come here.

I will say that this is more of a lunch place than a place to bring a date because it does cater to the working class and there are no fancy decorations, but if you want a good filling meal and you're in the area, check it out.

Usually I like the buttons that allow me to flag if a review is: useful, cool or funny. However, Jeff's review made me hunger for new button options, maybe: racist, classist or just plain snob.

I live in the ever rapidly gentrifying neighborhood of Columbia heights, right across from Acuario.

The food here is very good, the beer is served cold and delicious and the waitstaff are always friendly and prompt. I hope lots of folks check it out.

I am thankful for establishments like this one, less so for some of our neighbors.

$8 for alcohol-less margaritas on cheap dollar-store "glass"ware. Most expensive glass of room temperature sour-mix I've ever had.

the chips were good, but still not enough to go above a single star
