Review from Jackie W.
I love ACTS Thrift Store. It's on my way back home from work, and I like to stop in to see what's new. The employees are very nice and the mission of this store/organization/everything is easy to get behind. The prices are very fair and the selection is wide. Of course, I don't always leave the store with a purchase but that might be a good thing for my wallet. My favorite sections are the dresses for women and the jewelry. Chances are - you won't find diamonds or gold, but I love the random quirky pieces of jewelry that I do find. I like their dresses simply because their prices are low and the quality is generally pretty good.
This store even has on-going promotions and sales. If you're a student with valid ID, I believe they offer you 10% which can really add up. Every day there will be a tag color that is 50% - super awesome! I found a cute epi leather doctor's bag for only $5.99, and that was full price! I look forward to shopping here, and I hope more people will give this place a try too.
And the majority of your purchases go right back to helping the community. The way I see it, giving back to the community, one purchase at a time ;) -

I decided to stop by here because my school donated stuff here, but after visiting, realized I'm just not fit for shopping for clothes at thrift stores :( Nevertheless, I think the Thrift store is extremely organized, and there is a great selection of books! Like other reviewers have already said, the sections are organized by sex, size, and types of clothes. I think the sizes are organized by what it says on the tag though, since some "smalls" are huge, while some of the "larges" are tiny.
I also like the little jewelry/bead section - there are little bags of beads for $0.99! Totally worth it for those of you who sell jewelry =) -

I came here when the place first open, and the prices are pretty insanely low.
I scored a Jansport backpack for 4, a new pair of Sperry boat shoes for $5 and a belt for less than a dollar.
If you're complaining about prices (for most of the general items) I don't know what amazing bargains you scoop up elsewhere, but for the most part, it's pretty darn cheap here.
++ my church runs this place! -

Acts is a good store, it has a wide selection and it is pretty well organized. Some of their products are a little overpriced like a majority of their dresses, shoes, and purses. But others are very good priced, like their wide variety of furniture, books, jewelry and collectibles. I would recommend this place for someone trying to achieve a fashionable outfit or two.
The tellers (I guess they are really volunteers) are sometimes cold, but other times they are OK. Overall, I think this store is worth going to anyone who lives around here and is looking for a cheap, but high quality thrift store. -

This store is very organized. I was able to go through clothes of my size within a few minutes of walking in through the front door.

Ummm. Went back for more mugs and scored on two! Took my cousin and she was amazed at all of the workout stuff they had. She almost picked up the Operation game without the game pieces lol It was tapped up, so I asked if they could open it up. Had a feeling, not that ACTS is shady or anything... they just don't want any OTHER pieces falling out or getting lost. Hopefully soon I'll get to take home a shoe rack and coat rack! If any of you see one... put it on hold and shoot me a message. I'm literally on the other side of the freeway.

Review from Mimi C.
I really like this store. =)
They have ...
lots of furniture (even saw school chairs!! though on second thought, wth are school chairs doing here?? )
lots of houseware (dining sets, paintings, games, books, videos..)
lots of accessories (purses, necklaces, scarfs, gloves)
lots of sporting stuff (skis, golf clubs, boards, skates, balls. )
There are 2 dressing rooms. Functional but not too pretty...but who cares!! =P
I bought a pair of adias shoes for $5... near perfect condition. ~.^
Some of their clothes are $1-$5 .. but they didn't seem to carry as much stuff as Goodwill. Shoes are priced around $5.
For furniture .. we did see love seats for $30, end tables for $10, microfiber chaise / sectional combo for $99, school chairs for $10 .. list goes on and on. Some of their stuff is new and they mark it if it is.
... Right now they have a 50% off sale on certain items.
Usually my entire outfit (including shoes) costs less than $20.. so this place definitely fits the bill!!! I make hand me downs work for me.
They also do e-waste collection and of course.. take donations!!
Really good service here, too =). YAY ACTS!Listed in: Re-use me, baby!

This has got to be one of the best thrift stores i've gone to. The place is a decent size, well organized, and very clean. The prices are such a bargain, and they have a weekly discount on certain tags (50% off on the color of the week tag). Also, alot of the items are brand new with the original tags attached. AAAAND there are a lot of Brand Names (i.e. Banana Republic, Chanel, Ann Taylor, Gucci, to name a few). But then again, what do you expect? Pasadena area is filled with trendsetters and moneymakers!
Today I bought all of this for $24:
-a big, red velvet tote w/ three zipper compartments (AWESOME for work so i can fit my accordian file, clipfolia, planner, laptop, wallet, lunch, and even enough room for clothes) and leather straps
-Brand new Shiek bronze&gold sandals
-cuuuute Gold vintage peep toe heels
-Houndstooth cropped blazer
-The Lion King edition circa 1994 watch
i'm coming here WEEKLY to see their new stuff! i'm going back for the bags, they had such cuuuute purses. their jewelry were cute too!
i used to thrift a lot before. then it got old, i didn't have the patience to go through everything. But ACTS has totally rekindled my love for thrifting! -

Out of all the thrift stores I've been to, this is by far the best one I've ever been to! Their clothes were really cheap and best of all, there are weekly discounts that are applied to certain tagged items!
I got this really cute leather bag :) i get excited everytime I think about what a good deal i got on it. teehee! -

Great place for some bargains =) Clothing, furniture, books, electronics, shoes, jewelry & lots more! A true thrift store - since it's a non-profit business, the selection is not going to be as filtered as a store like Crossroads or Buffalo Exchange, but everything is in good condition and cheap! And all the proceeds go to organizations that support great causes :}
& I keep up with their fb for extra discount and specials!

This thrift store IS nice, but it doesn't have great selection.
PROS:
- organized by size (!!!)
- very clean
- very cheap
- LOTS of furniture (come here if that's your thing)
- lots of trinkets (dishes, paintings, BOOKS, jewelry, sunglasses)
- Pretty good parking
- Takes credit/debit card
NOs:
- only two dressing rooms
- not a lot of clothing selection (didn't find very much for women's.... a lotta t-shirts. even worse selection for men)
Overall, not for me-- I like places that are more clothes-heavy. They DID provide a coupon upon leaving, so that was nice. Small selection meant I was outta there in an hour (and probably won't be back). -
Review from Vic C.
Found this place while driving down Hill Ave on my way to lunch and just happen to see this place. My fiance and I are big fans of thrift shops and so I was really excited to come check this place out after lunch.
This place has a small to medium sized lot out for you to park in, or you can try parking on the street since I can see why the parking spots would fill up quickly. Right outside of this place are all kinds of different furniture (tables, chairs, etc).
There is a nice spread of clothes and a ton of cheap books, house ware items and such. Lucky for me I was able to find some glass vases between $0.69- $0.99 (I am currently looking for short glass vases for my wedding centerpieces). Overall, the prices here are definitely priced lower than Goodwill and Salvation Army.
You can come on certain days for discounts as one yelper mentioned and you can also join their club reward card (sign up on the computer near the register in the front of the store) and you will get a punch card and a coupon for your next purchase (on clothes is what I received, but I think the coupon will vary depending on when you go and sign up).
The employees who work here were very nice. One employee who was stalking the shelves overhead my fiance and I talking about how many inches we think some of these vases we saw were. This employee asked if we needed a ruler and after we said yes if he has one, he stopped what he was doing and went to get us a measuring tape. After we were done with it, we gave it back to him and he stopped what he was doing and went to go put it away. Honestly, that's really nice of him and he went above and beyond. The cashier I went to was also very nice in explaining to me how the club reward card worked and walked me over to the computer to sign up.
I love that this thrift shop does not have that distinct thrift shop odor. You know what that odor smells like... hard to completely explain, but familiar and understanding on what I am talking about once you have been in a thrift shop that has that scent. This place is clean and does not have clothes all over the floor like other stores I have been to. Things are generally pretty neat and nicely categorized.
I also love the lower pricing here (yes as I have mentioned above, but just wanted to mention it again). I will definitely be back here.Listed in: Thrifting

Staff were very helpful. Happy energy. Love it! -

Random weekday afternoon visit within the past month (3/2011):
I'm going 3-stars on this because the store is large, well-lit, smells neutral, has safe/easy parking, and is filled with merch & staff. Bonus: lots of carts and fairly wide aisles.
However! I have to give the pricing 2-stars.....just a skosh too high. Not stratospheric, just high enough to make you say 'Meh' and amble back out to the car.
I'll be back, but not in a hurry. -

The best place ever! I love ACTS. I go every Saturday morning for the early bird special from 10 a.m. -12. You get 30% off! They also have 50% off of different color tags everyday. I haven't been lucky enough to get the right color on the items I want to buy..... but 30% is good.
I like that the racks are sized. I go right to my size and buy what I am looking for.
I've recently lost 60 pounds and ACTS has helped me create an AWESOME wardrobe at affordable prices!

South Pasadena, CA
They have lots of clothing with great prices (mainly $1.99). Staff is super friendly and they'll even help you load your car with furniture! Tables are often overpriced anywhere else, but we got a BIG crafting table for only $99 (super cheap for the size). Everything is greatly organized as well, unlike most thrift stores. Very happy on only my first trip there!!! Yelpers, plan to visit this place often if you want good deals (they also provide a 20% off coupon with your receipt).

This place is very organized, and the best thing is that they organized the clothes by sizes! In my opinion this thrift store is cheaper than goodwill. I got two tops, one sweater, tshirt, a board game (in great condition, and has all the pieces), a small jewerly box, and a small steel container for 24 bucks! I am going to come here more often!

Pasadena, CA
I'm surprised anyone would say the prices are too high. Examples of things I've bought here:
Books at $0.59 (sometimes with a 20% discount)
7 pairs of baby pants, a dress, 2 shirts, and 3 baby sweaters for less than $20 today
sequined curtains for $3-$4
craft supplies and vintage valentines (less than $1)
The place is clean, the prices are cheaper than those at any other thrift store in Pasadena, the staff is nice (and remembers me), there's a free public restroom, 2 decent dressing rooms, and the parking lot is large with wide spaces.
The best part is that the proceeds go to help Elizabeth House, a tutoring program, Walter Hoving home, etc, so while thrifting protects the earth, the proceeds benefits the earth's family.
I'm so thankful for this store!! -

Clean, well organized. I did find a cool velvet jacket there but they wanted $75 for it??? Not even Cross Roads would charge this, so I had to pass it by.

ACTS is easily the best thrift store in the immediate area. Definitely cheaper than the Goodwill on Altadena or Out of the Closet on Colorado, and they are the most organized thrift store I have ever been to. Their t-shirts are actually divided by sizes! I come out empty handed a lot of the time, but sometimes they have some real scores (working old metal detector for $8.99!) They also give out a lot of coupons and have a lot of sales, the best of which may be that everything in the store is 30% off before noon on Saturdays. I wish all thrift stores worked on their model.

comfortable thrifting. i miss living in pasadena for this reason only- ACTS! it's clean and the vibe in there is good and welcoming. The staff is amazing. I've gotten great discounts for basically no reason at all. (for Not having a discount coupon, getting a discount, then getting a discount coupon for next time) WHAAAT!!!!! They've got a lot of shit.. so if you're patient and aware, you can find some treasures. cool furniture selection... good parking situation.
