Active Auto Body is one of the best businesses that I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Period. The world would be a better place if all businesses operated like Active Auto Body.
We found this place when my wife's Ford Escape was the victim of an accident. There was damage on the back and under the vehicle. Shawn at Active Auto Body took the time to explain every detail of the repair process. The work was amazing. I had a certain expectation on how my vehicle should be, but it wasn't, it was 10x better.
In summary, the quality of the workmanship is excellent, but their outstanding service time and again truly sets them apart and makes them special. They go above and beyond to make sure the customer is happy, which in this day and age is truly refreshing.

My Honda was hit by a person who carried Progressive Auto Insurance. Active Auto Body was among a few shops approved by Progressive to perform repairs. There was a shop technically closer to my house - but did not have as good of a ratings as Active, so I took my car to Active - and boy, I'm I glad I did.
Upon arrival at Active I was professionally greeted by the estimator, we wen't over all the damage. Active also coorindated with the Rental car company to pick me up. Everything was a perfect execution.
All of the people are very nice. The place is clean. The environment at Active feels like a genuine and professional body shop and not some "wanna-be" body shop. Lisa, who manages the front office is very polite and kept me up-to-date with the repair status of my car.
I had some issues with the Progressive estimator - but that's an entirely different issue and has nothing to do with Active. In fact, Shawn (the owner of Active) took it upon himself to correct oversites by the Progerssive estimator) - very top notch in my book.
When I finally picked up my car (about 1 week later), one of headlights was slighty sticking out. Most people would not have seen this, but I'm a stickler for straight lines. Without hestitation Shawn had one of the bodyshop guys re-adjust the headlight on the spot. 10 minutes later - it was perfect.
I liked them so much - I paid out of pocket to replace the other headlight (as so it would match with the new one that was replaced due to the accident I incurred). Which, after they ordered and received it, took only 15 minutes to put in.
Active also detailed my engine compartment which was filthy. Oddly enough, I had my 150K major service performed by Honda just a few weeks earlier. Honda didn't clean my engine compartment - dissappointing after the chunk of money I gave them to service my car.
A +++ to Active for going above and beyond.
I will be using Active Auto Body for any of my future auto body needs. The whole shop is a class act. The owners (Shawn and his wife Lisa) are great folks and run a professional shop.
It's clear why that get so many good ratings here on Yelp. As long as this shop is owned and operated by Shawn and Lisa - you can trust that you will have a good auto body repair experience.

Shawn, Eduardo and the young lady at the frnt desk (I'm sorry. That I didn't catch your name) are all top notch. I was supposed to bring in my car before 5:30 (when they close) but left my info on my desk. Didn't have their number, couldn't remember the address and wasn't familiar with the area. Needless to say, I was late but they waited for me and were truly gracious. They explained all the work planned and told me they would call me the next day with a full estimate and expected completion date.
The next day I got a call as promised from Eduardo. He explained all the work and some other items that they would do...at no additional cost! He said it would take five business days. I really needed my car sooner because my sister is going through chemotherapy and I've been helping out by delivering meals on Saturdays. Eduardo promised to do what he could to get the work done sooner.
Sure enough I got a call on Friday afternoon telling me I could have my car after 3:30pm!!! I was thrilled. But then couldn't get a ride till 5. It was raining and we were coming from Palo Alto. The odds weren't in my favor. I called and Shawn answered. He understood and told me he'd wait for me.
When I arrived at 5:40, he was very gracious. First we walked around my car as Shawn explained all the work. My baby looked brand new!! We then went inside to take care of the paperwork. While he did that he told me about some of the work they have done for Stanford University (where I work) and pointed out some of the pictures.
I now know why all the Yelps are singing praise for Active Auto Body, Shawn, Eduardo and the rest of the staff. They got the job done, did it in record time and did an outstanding job on my car.
I will recommend them to everyone ... and am very grateful to have my car back looking better than before my accident. -

I got into a fender bender on my way home down the 101. The hood and fender of my GTI was crushed and needed to be replaced.
When my car insurance company (Progressive) advised me to use them, I was a bit skeptical because I know how insurance companies value pricing over quality. However I decided to get both the estimate and repair done by Active based on the great reviews.
I just picked up my car today and it looks just like it did when I bought it. Shawn and Javier were really great when it came to explaining the damage and what parts needed to be replaced.
The insurance company wanted to use used parts, but Shawn and Javier went out of their way to find a better price for a brand new VW hood and fender, explaining to me that used parts don't always fit perfectly, and they want to be as precise as possible. They also repaired a minor scratch on the side at no additional cost citing that it would make the paint blending more uniform. Their thoughtfulness alone really impressed me and I have to say that it made the process a lot less stressful than I expected it to be after getting into an accident.
An added bonus was that ,even though the original estimate was for me to get the car in a week, they got everything done in 3 days!
Hopefully, I won't need any more body work done on my car, but if I ever do, I'm definitely taking it back to Shawn and Javier, and I recommend that you do too! -

Met with the owner, Shawn, a while back to talk about my plans for my '01 'vert Corvette. Met up with him again recently to look at the first steps his shop's taken on some of the smaller parts, and I'm absolutely stunned with the quality of the work. I'm looking forward to bringing more of the project to his company.

This is my first yelp review in years; I go here for anything and everything car related. Shawn, Lisa, Eduardo - everybody is beyond nice. They say it's hard to find a good mechanic, auto body shop, lawyer, dentist, etc; I'm happy to say that I've checked off auto body shop from my list :)
They've taken care of my cars time and time again, and even put up with custom requests. They take absolute pride in their work, and it shows. Whenever I've had issues, they've offered to take care of my work in a timely manner, and even throw in a few freebies. Walking into their office makes me feel like I'm at home.
I refuse to take my cars anywhere else. Active Auto Body has my business for life. -

Wow - Active Auto body is wonderful. I had my antenna snap off in a car wash - and Toyota quoted me 4.7 hours of labor + parts = 650.00 . Shawn looked at my car .. and realized he could replace it easily without removing the front fender - and just going underneath and replacing the Assembly - this took him 1/2 hour - and he also tried first to drill the damaged antenna out of the assembly - to try to save the cost of replacing the underpart of the antenna .. Anyhow - 30 minutes later and $98.00 out the door - my family is able to use the radio again.
He also just incidentally helped to reseal the weather strip on my hatchback - by adjusting the metal inside the strip so it could grip back in place ..

I had a small parking lot fender-bender a few weeks back and need to get some work done on my front bumper. Based on the recommendation of a close friend I took my car to Active.
The damage seemed relatively minimal but I was really worried about possible damage behind the bumper, preventing it from fitting properly.
Shawn (the owner) came out to look at my car with me when I brought it in. He carefully walked me through what might damaged, and the process they'd go through to find out, and repair it. Outlining my different options. I can't emphasize just how helpful and genuine he was while explaining the possible scenarios. It really inspired confidence that he was so honest about everything.
They called me to let me know what they'd found, and when I went to pick up the car, carefully walked me through the repairs. The work was great, and the customer service throughout the process was phenomenal.
I highly recommend Active to anyone in need of body work. I also encourage you to ask them any questions you've got without fear of being brushed off. -

Unfortunately for me, I've had to take my Audi to the body shop three times in the past year.
All three times, I took it to Active.
I found Active Auto Body via Yelp and also noticed that they partner with my insurance company (but I could care less about what my insurance company recommends. They are here to make a profit).
On all three visits, my experience has been excellent.
I am very fussy about my cars and frequently, I find myself returning my car for some reason because something was not done to my satisfaction.
That did not happen here.
All three jobs were done to perfection.
Eduardo and Shawn have always gone above and beyond to make the experience a great one.
My third and latest experience pretty much sealed the deal for me as a lifetime customer.
Two days before I brought my car in, a visor clip broke and while the car was in the shop, a daytime running light burned out.
Both parts were replaced at no charge while the car was in the shop.
I didn't even know they replaced the visor clip until I was halfway home.
I have never given any company in the auto repair business a perfect score.
Active Auto Body is the first. -

My car was rear ended by 2 vehicles; therefore you can imagine how bad the damage was. I brought my car in to Active Auto Body still feeling shaken up from the accident. They greeted me with warm welcome and asked me immediately if I needed a rental. I had no idea we can get a rental from a car body shop (people don't get into accident all the time right?) so I already reserved a rental right before I got there. Shawn came out to go over the car with me. He is super friendly and super professional. He explained everything to me thoroughly and clearly that I felt extremely comfortable leaving my "Baby" there with them. Before I left, Shawn reassured me that they will take good care of my car. I think that was the first time I was able to smile after the accident.
My car was in the shop for 1 month. I didn't have to worry "A THING" because Shawn called me EVERY WEEK to give me progress of my car. Every time he called, he gave me a DETAIL report of what they DID, and what they are planning to do the following week. If there are some "car parts" that I don't understand, he explained everything to me with PATIENCE. As I have limited knowledge on ALL pieces of the auto parts, he would try to speak in a "car language" that I would understand. Shawn is really amazing.
Finally I got a call from Shawn that my car is ready. I was super excited and I couldn't wait to see my "Baby" again. When I arrive, I couldn't believe my eyes. My car looks spanking NEW!!! I was really amazed at the wonderful job Shawn and his team did. Again, Shawn explained everything to me and all the tests they have done. He even pointed out some of the preexisting mechanical problems that my car had (a problem that my dealer, INFINITE, refused to fix for me for over 2 years)........ blah blah....... Right before I drove off, Shawn reassured me again that they stand by their work and services. If I'm not happy about ANY work they have done, I can bring my car back ANYTIME and THEY WILL MAKE IT RIGHT!!!!!
I think I can go on and on about how wonderful Active Auto Body is. I finally found an honest car shop that I trust 100% of their work. Isn't that the service that you are looking for and that's why you are reading these reviews? =) -

I was referred to Active Auto Body by my regular mechanic. Before going, I checked the Yelp reviews, and found that Active Auto Body already has a great reputation.
I'm not gonna say anything new. I just want to add my support for this awesome body shop. Active Auto Body is the best. They are honest, they know what they're doing, and they do a great job!
I've now taken two cars to them, and both times, I was completely satisfied. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Shawn, the owner, made me feel very comfortable (almost like family!), by explaining everything, and providing fast and excellent service.
I don't hesitate to recommend Active Auto Body to all my friends! -

I was really happy. I had finally saved up enough money to pay off my 2007 TSX and submitted the check to Honda, finally free of a car payment long before I thought I'd be.
Of course, Fate enjoys finding ways to force you back into your cynical little doghouse and reinforce that, you, sir, simply got lucky and hard work had little to do with the fact that you saved up all of that money to pay off your car. This happened to me in a Sansome Street parking garage, taking a turn too sharply and somehow making a nice dent and scrape in my rear driver's side door. With that, I just left work immediately to get an estimate and get things properly fixed.
Anyone that knows me knows I am *nuts* about my car. I'm totally insane. I searched for multiple body shops (Which reminds me: why is it that the Bay Area seems to have *body shop strip malls* in benign industrial parks, where like 40 of them are side-by-side? Are California drivers really that terrible? Do concrete blocks rain from the sky at random? Will Muni drivers ram you at the stop lights? I digress.)
Aaaaanyway, I found this place on Yelp and thought I'd give it a go. I went down there and met with Eduardo who came out to look at my car and did something completely inexplicable: he made up the estimate (which came to $1750 --dont' hit your rear quarter panel on a Unibody car, kids --) and then walked back out to the car, explaining *every part* on the list and why it was necessary to do a decent job on the repair. I was amazed. Automotive shops are really fly-by-night, shady places in most cases. I've visited tons of mechanics and a bunch of body shops (more for aftermarket work than accidents) and never has one been so straightforward about what they're charging me for and why.
I got the car back in four days, in which four days they needed to tear out a piece of the quarter panel, undent the door, reweld and pull the dent I made in the quarter panel as well as respray the door and panel. They even touched up a scratch an idiot made in the SFO International Garage when I was in Los Angeles for the weekend.
I met Shawn the day I picked it up and he's a complete gearhead into good 'ol American muscle. He had a beautiful car himself. Everyone here is great, and I'm taking all of my aftermarket work to this shop from now on. They've everything right. -

This place is AWESOME! I only went there because I was referred by my insurance company, Progressive. I had a small ding on my car where some dummy in a parking lot slammed her truck door into the side of my Honda CRV. This is one of Progressive's dedicated "partner" body shops so this is where they sent me for my estimate but said that I did not have to get my car fixed there. I figured, the car was already there so I might as well just leave it.
I could not be happier with the results. Not only did their dent guy get out the dent that I came in for, he took out another dent on the other side of my car as well (with no charge to me). They also waxed & polished my car and got some additional scrapes & scratches that had been on the car for awhile. The car looks fantastic! I'm super impressed and thrilled with the service I received at Active! -

This is long, but if you need your car repaired, read this.
Shawn, the owner of Active Auto body is one of the nicest and incredibly honest men in the business. My mechanic, which is also wonderful referred me here a few years ago.
*I am from LA and when you come from there, you never know who to trust because everyone seems to be trying to cheat and it is hard to find honest and dependable people to fix your car. He did a wonderful job on the car and had great service.
About six months ago, I was lucky enough to get my mom's old Infiniti Qx4 and another shop in LA had just repaired the door after an accident. Well, that fancy panel that makes the car look different than the Pathfinder, but essentially the same, on the bottom of the door fell off after 2 months. I took it to Shawn and he fixed it on the spot, showed me the horrible job that the place in LA did (paint chipping off, bubbling) and fixed it free. Unfortunately, it fell off again after the rain hit us for a bit and other stuff that was wrong from the last body shop that made it difficult to stay in place. I took it back and he fixed it again, on the spot, insisted it be free of charge even after I offered several times.
The shop may be moving to Sunnyvale so keep posted!!

They don't rip you off. Quality work. No hassel as they work with your insurance company (I have state farm). Got my car back in four days (they fixed the bumper and rear quarter panel). Couldn't be happier.

Shawn and his team were awesome. Walked in for a bumper replacement, he walked me through what will be done and offered me material options and explained to me the differences. Scheduled the appoint the next day and finished the work the morning after. Fast, quick, no fuss, quality work and their price is reasonable.
They also retouched some places that were rusty for no charge on their own. This was totally unexpected. The whole car was washed and cleaned- went out much better looking then going in. I'm happy with their work and would definitely go back to their again.

so as luck would have it, the same shiny new bumper we replaced in this earlier review got smashed again in December on I-80 during a snow storm. We went back to Shawn again and again his team did a fast and beautiful job. Cleaned our car inside and out, everything looks brand new. They even arranged rental car to and from the shop at very low rates. Nothing but awesomeness. -

Shawn the owner is very knowledgeable AND personable. He was patient when explaining the repair process to me and how to work with Geico insurance. My 2007 Prius had been smashed in the front/right side by another car on the highway and needed to be towed. They had over a month to repair the badly damaged car since I was out of town on business. I checked in with them periodically and they assured me it would be fixed when I returned. They were fortunately open Saturday morning for me to pick it up. Eduardo patiently explained the repairs and the bill to me (over $9000 - thank GOD for insurance). I was very pleased with the repairs - it looked brand new!
why not 5 stars? do repairs usually take 5 weeks? -

In a nutshell: Excellent service, outstanding quality. I was in a fender bender, so I needed the back bumper replaced and a few other minor bits fixed, and Active Auto Body did the work perfectly... in the time promised and UNDER budget.
The folks there were super-nice... friendly, patient, easy-going, and professional.
I hope I never have to have my car repaired again, but if I do, I'm takin' it to these guys. -

There was an issue with my car that we didn't notice at the time - at speeds higher than about 50mph, an annoying wheezing sound could be heard from the driver's seat.
Shawn promptly offered to take the car in, and spent a lot of time replacing the weather striping and test-driving it on the freeway, then replacing it again and driving with tape over all openings that air could come through... but the wheezing was still there at the front-left window.
The window closed perfectly, so it seemed baffling that there was any kind of wind noise. And here comes a Shawn's stroke of genius: what if it wasn't the window, but the mirror gasket?
Yup, that was it. The gasket was replaced and the sound was gone. A great example of thinking out-of-the-box.
I should also mention that these test drives ate up maybe a galon of gas, but Shawn nevertheless filled the tank and refused to be paid for it. Thank you!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Ok, so i haven't wrote a review in almost 6 months on Yelp, but Shawn's service totally floored my husband and I. My husband just shipped his car from Atlanta and there were scratches all over it - we wanted to get a quote of how much it would cost to fix the car and Shawn explained every single area of the car scratch by scratch!!!
It was amazing! He told us which scratches needed to be repaired, which ones were superficial and then he said he was going to check out the scratches more in the back. I was a bit weary - where could he have gone? What did he do?
To our amazement, Shawn, actually buffed out a scratch that my husband got from a car door banging into his car. We were ecstatic! We didn't even know that it was possible to get rid of car scratches like that. And that too for Free!
Shawn was amazing! His service was incredible! The staff was amazing!!! I will 1,000,000 % go to Shawn the next time a crazy bay area driver hits me - hopefully not too soon, but I can't wait to go to this place again.

Absolutely the nicest people out there. Shawn (the owner) goes out of his way to be nice to everyone, and I was no exception. He helped me out with getting a door fixed with a quote that was about half of what I was getting elsewhere. Also, when my car was totaled, he bought it off me for a much better price than the yards around offer.
It's so nice to know there are such wonderful people out there when so many other body shops are out to take you for a ride. -

I discovered Active Auto Body first via Consumers Checkbook where they receieved its highest rating. I then researched them here on Yelp, and then I called the place where I have my car serviced and asked where I should go and they recommended Active Auto Body without any prompting from me. So, I knew this was the place to go!
I won't go into detail on how this happened because my review would be too long, but I had a minor problem with my driver's side door alignment. When you closed the car door, it didn't line up evenly with the latch. So, I called Active Auto Body and they said I didn't need an appointment for the estimate, that I could come in at my convenience....which I did.
Eduardo greeted me in the parking lot right away and immediately took the car to the shop to assess the problem. Then he came into the reception/waiting area and said that he could fix it in 10 minutes and that the service would be free of charge. I think he fixed it in 5 minutes, he did a perfect job, and I was in and out of there that fast! I couldn't have been there for longer than 15 minutes in total.
They were fast, efficient, very friendly and FREE. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! -

I was recommended this shop from a few other Honda S2000 owners, and I took my car there after a nasty little hit and run surprise destroying a door and a fender.
Shawn and the employees there were very professional, flexible, and understanding. This shop really tries to make it convenient for its customers. Turnaround time was pretty good for the amount of work involved. Active Auto Body stands by it's lifetime warranty -- as I had to bring it in a couple days after I got it back originally for some work that I wasn't completely pleased with. Admittedly I'm a VERY picky person when it comes to my car, and Shawn had no problem redoing the work to meet my standards. If I could give five stars, I would -- but the fact that it wasn't done correctly the first time around merits a minor penalty. The work itself when fixed the second time around was superb though.
Overall, I will come back again in the future and would recommend this shop to friends and family. -

We had an outstanding auto repair experience. The front desk staff, owner, and repair techs were all completely professional, and worked seamlessly with the insurance company and rental car company to see that we were taken care of. They worked quickly to repair our car in time to take on a road trip we had planned to avoid us needing to rent a car for the trip. The service technician walked us through the repair, showed us the replaced parts, and I was amazed. The paint matching was superb, the windows that had been removed and replaced were so nicely replaced you'd never know they'd been removed. They even vacuumed the interior of the car for us.
I would recommend this shop highly to a friend in a heartbeat. -

Active Auto Body does top quality work at reasonable prices. Unfortunately they do not have rental cars on site, so they partner with Enterprise in Santa Clara. Enterprise has a scam running where they rent you a scratched-up and dented car, challenge you to find all of the extensive existing damage, and then try to charge you upon return for the existing damage you missed during your pre-rental inspection. If you don't agree to pay for the existing damage, they refuse to transport you back to Active Auto Body leaving you stranded. So if you do choose to use Active Auto Body, be sure to arrange your own rental car.

Finally my search of an auto body short is over...
I am very particular about cars. I don't have $$$ to own exotic cars but I have owned some interesting cars like a '67 Mini Cooper and now a E46 M3 and a Caterham Seven.
Back to my story which has two parts. The first part is that I took some carbon fiber panels for my Caterham (which were previous screwed up by another body shop) to Active Auto. Shawn was able to point out immediately what was done wrong. He even charged me cheaper than the previous place which has no idea on how to work on carbon fiber. My impression about the shop: Sparkling clean and well organized.
The second part is that I picked up the parts on the date as promised. It looks great. The red is so rich and vibrant. This is what the factory paint should be and now I have to worry about the painted parts look better than the rest of my Seven.
Unfortunately when I put the car together I accidentally left a few fine scratches on a new panel. Calling Shawn for help and he said "bring it over and I will fix that for you". So I did. He had those scratches carefully polished out and it is beautiful again. He offered to do that for free even though it is totally my fault. If there is six stars that I can rate Active Auto, I would. While I was waiting I looked at other cars in his shop. There were a few hot rods like a '60 Camero which is very nicely done. There is another hot rod in primer and the panel gap is perfect.
The lesson is that Active Auto treats every customer with respect and does excellent work. This is the place I will definitely recommend whole heartedly. -

What can I say about getting free service here??? I called this place purely on the awesome reviews on yelp and once again yelp did not let me down. I needed a side view mirror installed in my car. I thought it would be fairly easy and thought I could do it myself but I had to get behind the door panel and did not want to just rip it off myself for fear of not being able to put it back together.
Anyway, I called this place wondering how much and when they could help me. They said they could probably help me whenever I dropped by and that it would probably be FREE! So I was like okay this sounds too good to be true. But it wasn't!!! They stuck to their word and helped me right away and installed the side view mirror in like 15 minutes while I waited during my lunch break. I still had time to get lunch! =)

OMG... once again I've been hit (this time in the bumper)! :( Anyways, the lady had Progressive insurance and they suggested either this approved place or another place in SJ. Anyways stopped in (I was about 10 mins late for my appt) and was immediately greeted by the friendly receptionist and w/in minutes the car mechanic (Randy?) was out to access the damage to my baby. The waiting room is clean and they had a jar of Red Vines! Yum! They examined my car and gave me a detailed estimate and my options etc. Overall I think the whole appt took maybe about 30 mins or so. YAY for speedy service, clean waiting room, & friendly service, if I do decide to fix up my junk-mobile I'll definitely come back here.

Great repair job, excellent customer service!
My hubby and I brought our car to Active Auto Body after a fender bender. We spoke with Shawn, the owner/manager, who immediately put us at ease and explained as much as he could about the process and timeline needed for repairs. He was very upfront about his repair estimate, as well as other possible repairs that might be needed after he and the insurance adjuster looked at the damage more closely (the insurance adjuster was not yet around when we brought the car to the shop).
The repairs were done more quickly than we expected, and the quality of the work was very good. Shawn even went above and beyond our expectations, for which we are very grateful.
A car accident, even if it is "just" a fender-bender, is a stressful event. Shawn and Active Auto Body made it a little less painful for us, and even gave us something to smile about. We highly recommend Active Auto Body to all our friends!

I'd like to start out with ACTIVE AUTO BODY KICKS F***ING ASS!
Okay, now that I've got that out of me, let's start with my review. I was referred to this shop by who? OH YES! you yelpers! My first impression of the Active Auto Body establishment is BUSY! From the reviews I expected a couple of S2000s, and I saw I think 3 the first day I ever step foot there.
The staff is extremely nice, and never once did I feel like they were ever being dishonest. It felt like I knew them right away, and I felt I could trust them to take care of my baby. Shawn the owner is super AWESOME and deserves a ^5. You too Eduardo! ^5 haha. Although my car took a little longer to fix (due to my car being older and more rare), they did their best, and here's how she turned out:

AND NO! They did not tell me to write a review. I felt that since I found them on YELP, and what a find it was, I figured I'd leave a honest review of my experience there. Don't hesitate to bring your car here. If I am unfortunate to get in an accident or even just to spray a new part for my car, I'm taking it here. Here's to you Active Auto Body! -

Active Auto Body did an awesome collision repair job on my Mazdaspeed 3. Javier was a dream to work with throughout the process. He listened to my concerns, made sure to address them during the repair, kept me updated, and made the effort to get what I needed within the constraints of the insurance estimate. Great customer service and upbeat attitude. Bonus: They did a better job detailing my car than some detail-specific shops. I'd recommend these guys any day.

I will only take my cars to active auto body. Shawn does a fantastic job. I first used him when I was restoring my 66' mustang 10 years ago and it turned out great. Now I use them for all our fleet vehicles.

We had a little incident in a parking lot and the right door of our new mazda 5 was damaged by a pole. I decided to bypass our insurance, since our deductible is pretty high, hoping that we could get it fixed for a reasonable price.
So I searched for "body shop" in Mountain View, sorted by highest ratings and went to get a free estimate from the top 4 body shops.
I Started with the 2 from Mountain View: first one quoted me $1800 and just gave some brief explanation on the repairs.
Second one in Mountain View quoted me $1250 but was willing to bring the price down. The body shop was tiny and I was afraid the owner might cut corners.
Then went to the most/highest rated in Sunnyvale, B2 P, and there I heard a totally different story: they told me that the door was damaged beyond repair and they would have to replace the door ?! Estimate was more than $3000!!!
Finally went to Active Auto Body and that was such a different experience. The owner, Shawn, looked carefully at the car and explained to me in details what they would have to do. Then he offered to show me cars currently being repaired, and also how they would do a perfect color match. I was really impressed by his body shop: big, clean, using latest technologies and employees that looked very competent. Sean's estimates was reasonable too: $1400 for a week worth of work. So we left the car on Monday, Shawn kept us informed on progress that were being made. On Friday we got a call that the car would be ready. But the most surprising part was when we got a call again from the body shop and they told us that Shawn was not 100% satisfied with the repair/color match and he requested that his team rework on the car over the week-end. On Monday our car was ready, and it was impossible to tell it had any dent in the door. Furthermore the color matching was UNBELIEVABLE. Even in full sun, you can't tell which panel was painted. And finally the car was fully detailed inside out, and Shawn even offered an additional 10% discount since we had a tight budget and did not want to use insurance.
I would highly recommend this body shop to anyone; the owner is a pleasure to work with, passionate about his job and honest. They are also diamond certified which is a great indication of quality work, and they do an AMAZING job. -

A while back I joined the "Flying Roof Club" by forgetting to fasten down the roof panel on my '06 Corvette. It tumbled down my street and incurred a whole bunch of nasty road rash. I took the panel to Eduardo at Active and they spent about a half-hour doing a professional color matching while I waited. He gave me a reasonable, discounted quote (well under $300) and I left the panel with him (it was odd to drive away from a body shop still having your car... only roofless. Thank goodness for California weather). 23 hours after my first visit, he had the newly refinished roof panel ready for pick-up and it was indistinguishable from new. I appreciated his friendliness, helpfulness, and prompt turn-around. No complaints.

drop off a spoiler to have it paint, told me body kit is not what they do... charge extra becuz they have to build a rack to hold the spoiler.... spoiler didnt get paint and ready on day i was told it will be done.....i asked to give me a call if any delay...nobody call.....i was told it will be done the next day....nobody call to update me if the spoiler was done or not.... no customer service...nobody care.... will never bring any other project here specially if a small one....they just push you to the side and dont give a you know what.....

Last July, I got a dent on my car. One year later, I decided to finally find the time to get it fixed. Yelp led me to Active Auto Body and I am SO HAPPY with the results! My dent was small but unfortunately it occurred at a critical place where they couldn't just pop it out. My fender panel had to be replaced which meant I needed to have a paint job as well!
I went in to get a quote and a few weeks later, I made an appointment to take my car in. When I got it back I was very amazed and impressed. My car looked as good as new! It was so shiny looking! Not only did they fix and paint my car, they also cleaned it--inside and out!
I couldn't be happier with the service and would highly reccomend this place! I no longer have to drive around embarrassed about the dent on my car.

I wish there were a six stars option. I cannot gush enough about this place, and I'm not some crazy car person or anything, just a girl who got in a huge accident one week after moving to California.
So, I got in this accident with my 2000 Passat wagon, and the entire right side of my car needed to be replaced. I was freaking out because I knew that the value of my car was around $4500. I brought it to Active Auto Body because of the good yelp reviews, and I immediately communicated to them that I really wanted to save my car above everything else (with the value being so low, I was pretty convinced I would have to buy a new car for which I did NOT have the money). I wasn't sure how much they would listen to me or care, but I was absolutely blown away at how much they cared about my needs.
I went to pick up the car this week. They found a ton of used parts, which took them more time than simply ordering from the dealer would have. More importantly, they actually shorted themselves by saying certain jobs took one hour on the estimate to my insurance and actually spending 4 and 5 hours on those jobs. I have never encountered that kind of service. My car looked beautiful when they were done and they even put some extra air in my tires before I drove off to make sure it was in top condition.
I will never, ever let anyone I know go anywhere but Active Auto Body, and you shouldn't either. -

I couldn't drive my car into the shop bc the damage was so severe. I was in need of an estimate and these guys were nice enough to give me one based on some good pictures i took of my car. This guy Shawn gave me some good advice on how to go about my car situation, gave me a full estimate report, all in a 2 day turn around SUPERB !
