We rented a boat on Tuesday (7/5/11) for 4 hours & so glad that we did! We made a reservation the day before and came 30 mins prior to our allotted time (10a-2p). The staff was friendly and helpful when it came to telling us good places to go (Emerald Bay) and a few places to avoid (rocks, shallow parts).
We got an 18ft boat that was very clean and ran well. The boat came w/ a canopy to provide shade if desired.
I would definitely recommend renting a boat from Action - they were about half the price of 3-4 other companies we looked at. They are located right on the beach down the road from the gondola and hotels. -

The staff here is wonderful but the owner definitely has a different view of what what customer service is and customer loyalty. We visited the marina before renting a boat and they seemed very nice. On the day of our boating expedition, there were a bit of clouds. So the staff recommended renting on a hourly basis if the rains do come in because the owner does not refund due to weather. The other option is to rent for four hours or half a day. Well, the weather cleared up and we stayed out for four hours - only to be charged an hourly rate. When we asked about working with us - we were told - so sad, too bad. I would not recommend supporting that behavior - especially in this economy

I found this place after leaving Tahoe Keys down the street because they were such a Rip Off. This place was a great place to lauch becuase thier ramp and marina is protected from the lake boat chop.. Very cool staff who is very helpfull. They charge 20 bucks in and 20 bucks out to launch and then 45 for a 3 day pass for the zebra mussel inspection. A little high but half the price of Tahoe Keys.
