I am definitely wanting to come back here again! Good pricing specials and a pretty clean feeling interior without being overly crowded.

Came here on a Saturday night around 10PM. The bowling alley is well lit and well spaced out. Seems relatively clean too! Pricing was slightly below other places for a Saturday night - I think individual games were $4.50 and shoes were $3.50. We waited until after midnight for some of our games, at which point each game costed only $2! Cool special. So no complaints about the actual bowling aspect.

Food here is so-so, even for a bowling alley. Definitely avoid the nachos, the chips and cheese both seemed pretty stale. The chicken tenders and french fries were not bad.

The bar is very dimly lit. Bottles of beer range from $3 to $6 and pitchers I think ranged from $10 to $15. They have a karaoke area in there as well.

not to rate my skills at the sport and only focusing on the location, Action Lanes is pretty decent. They get some things right, and of course there are some things that need to be improved upon, but nothing too detrimental to the review.

second time coming here with the fam bam, and once again I was pleasently surprised with the time and experience I had.

Having been twice now, I can safely say that this place is relatively cheap for what you get. Not to mention the Yelp check-in deal!

Though the facilities are adequate, the most recent time I went I felt as if the bowling balls and the lanes were to oiled up, had a hard time adjusting whilst playing, but still again, the atmosphere made it worth the time spent.

This place is defeinitely more fun when you are old enough to drink, as a pitcher of beer shared amongst friends while bowling is one experience that is just...timeless!

This place gets 4 stars for the high quality vibes, the adequate facilities and the loq rates

Back in town and all I can think about is food and bowling. Hmmmm, where in the infinite bloody realms could I bowl at this time that is NOT over-packed with drunkies from league bowling or lightweights, or random bowlers who immediately stand beside you as you're about to let the ball down the lane and mess up your momentum?

    Sighzzzzzzz. Where indeed...

I guess Action Lanes was the immediate choice and tonight, I found myself in for a surprise. The rates have ALWAYS been cheap...and the lanes [while "dry" for those who can't break 100, lol] are much better that most AMFs that I've been to. Tonight, however, I was absolutely pleased to see that they have another one of those weeknight specials that an injured bowler would still show up for.

    Yes, $5 for 3 games...after 6 pm till closing.

Do you need to guess what I did? Yeah, you guessed it. I jacked my body up bowling too much yet again [especially since I have yet to recover from a weekend and more in Monterey Bay!] But whatever, I'll recover and be back again tomorrow to complete my set of zombiePINcrushing!

    IDC...I love this place!

Oh yeah, Gerard...you happened to be there for a high five. Thanks for setting me up with that spare ball on such short notice the other time!

Action Lanes is pretty dope, they have a lot of lanes, cheap prices, good yelp deal, karaoke that I never use, arcade games as usual, but you can't bring in your own foood. There are plenty of places surrounding Action Lanes if you want to eat or grab a drink.
As for the bowling alley, they have plenty of different weighted bowling bowls if you aren't pro enough to own your own like myself. They got a bar, beer is about 3.75 the last time I ordered beer, no beer this past trip though, but I will say it is fun bowling drunk.

Definitely a great place to come bowling. Compared to the other bowling alleys/centers around, this place is the best. They offer plenty of lanes to play on as well as a myriad of complementary attractions like a bar, an arcade, ice cream parlor, and pro shop. The lanes are well maintained along with the shoes and bowling balls. The oil is not always consistent as my hooks seem to vary every time I play even though I do the same thing each time.

I don't think they show it on their website, but on the actual front desk is a flyer with all their weekly specials. They vary during the day and night so there is always some kind of special pricing going on. They do a great job and keeping the place fun and interesting with the cosmic bowling and gold pin strikes.

    In short:
    Pros-
-Very inexpensive to play given the specials
    -Well maintained lanes and facilities
-Offers a myriad of complementary (not complimentary) services such as a bar
plus karaoke, ice cream parlor, arcades, and a pro shop.

    Cons-
-Lanes aren't as consistent as I'd like them to be. Oil seems to vary each visit.

Action Lanes is a really nice bowling center. It is by far the best one around my area (San Gabriel Valley). There are 32 lanes here and they are all very well maintained. I've been to other bowling alleys and some of them would scratch my ball or my ball would come back with black streaks on it. Action Lanes keeps their ball return in good condition, uses a nice amount of oil and low amount of scratches.

The snack bar's food is not bad and has reasonable prices. The bar has a nice selection of beers and they have karaoke on certain nights. They have an arcade and a pro shop. The guy who owns the pro shop Gerrard is very nice and knows a lot about bowling. He is more than willing to take you through the process of picking out the right ball and drilling it perfectly. He even walks around and if he sees you, he will come over and ask you how your ball is or if there is any adjustments that need to be done.

There is a special every night and although it's not as cheap as some other bowling alleys, its totally worth it. If you have your own ball, you don't want to bowl somewhere that will damage your ball.  The specials change by the seasons (summer is the most expensive). You can check them out at their website. Students can get a student card here by showing their student ID. The card will allow that student to get 1 free game every day!

There are also lots of leagues held here which are very fun to play in and everyone is extremely nice and welcoming.

This place isn't pricey, fun bowling experiences. Come here before 6PM and get some good bowling rates. They have a bar, karaoke nights and ice cream. I haven't tried their food yet and never thought about ordering anything off their menu. They also have a small arcade for those who feel like playing some racing games and such. Thursday nights are usually bowling league nights so be warned. Um, the bowling area is clean and tidy. I always end up coming when it's either somewhat empty here or super crowded.

Front desk was nice but not always.

Cool bowling alley with a nice environment. Many lanes, kept clean, with a small restaurant, and pretty fair price.

However, when I first came here and asked for an explanation on the Tueday special they had, the lady who was helping me was extremely rude and treated me like a complete idiot just because I needed some explanation.
So the cover price means it's an added price, you have to pay $5, and then everything else you pay for will be $1. But what I didn't know was that it was $5 cover charge per person. The prices and really fair, but I was short because I naively thought everything was just gonna be a dollar.
So then I told the lady I was going to be back (to get money from my car), and she just replied to me with an extremely rage inducing, "Whatever."
That really pissed me off, so I just left and went to the ABC bowling alley in alhambra, which is $2 per game.

Great place, great deals, but horrible staff.

It's about what I would expect from a decent bowling alley. It's cheap, clean, bar and snack counter.

Came here on a Saturday night around 10PM and there was no wait, and the staff was very accommodating in providing us with two adjacent lanes.

Had fun, will definitely come back when I'm in the mood for a lower-key evening.

Nice Nice! Not bad at all.

Clean environment with new carpet. Great seating area that you could seat close to the lane. And seating for watching the games.

I really like the new scoring system that so cute with some animation.  And additional a LCD TV for current/live basketball game and some commercial.

I went there for the $2.50/game on Thursday night and notice there is more promotion:
    - Mon - 6pm-Close $1.5/game $1/hot dog, soft drinks, fries
    - Tue - 6pm-11pm $ 2/game 11pm-Close $10/all you can bowl
    - Wed - 6pm-Close $2/game $1/hot dog, soft drinks, fries
    - Thu - $2.5/Gold pin game
    - Sun - 7am-1pm $1/game, 9pm-Close $2/game

Not just that, the cafe is super cool that they will come out and take your order at your lane and deliver to you. Or page you when your order is ready. BTW, they have Fosselmen ice-cream. Yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a bad place to bowl.  Has the usual lanes, shoes, balls.  I like that the balls are organized by size (that's what she said), and the fact that the snack bar has some asian influenced treats and not just the standard deep fried fare.

The guys behind the counter are either new or have no desire to hurry for anything.  It took forever to get to the register to pay, then it took a second forever to actually get our shoes.  Perhaps increasing staff on the busy birthday party afternoons would be a good idea.

It wasn't a bad price, though.  Cosmic bowl from 12-4 on saturdays, 2 hours unlimited bowl for $10/person.  Price includes shoe rental.  We were definitely done before our 2 hours were, but it was fun.

I also like that I didn't have to fight with the monitor to get our names put in and start the game.  By the time we got to lane 25, our names were in and we were ready to roll (snark, snark).

So I came here yesterday after reading some reviews on yelp saying its such a great deal, so I thought about checking this place out. Now I'm the kind of person that expects excellent service, because why WOULDN'T you want excellent service? Well, let me tell you that I did not stay in this place very long till I decided to go to another bowling alley when I realize how INCREDIBLY rude the cashier was. She NEEDS to go. I was extremely insulted when she gave us attitude for not knowing about the policy.

I'm reading the reviews and I can't help myself but chuckle a little.  Seriously guys you gave them an extra star for a clean bowling alley?  Shouldn't it be clean?

I went here with my family for Thanksgiving after our huge feast.  We decided to work off some of that turkey.  They had a special as you can see from other reviews they always have speicals.  The special was buy one game get one free.  Each game was $3.50 plus shoes $3.50.  So bascially it's two games for $3.50 plus $3.50 for shoes.  We thought it was a deal so why not.  We took up 3 lanes.

THIS IS WHY THEY HAVE 2 STARS:

My mother and aunt has NEVER ever bowled before.  I understand that bumpers are made for kids but technically they should be made for people in training. LOL.  In any case we asked if it was ok if my mom and aunt who were using 7 pound balls to get bumpers.  The guy behind the desk gave me a smirk and said "No, they're not kids and there's no exceptions."  OK I understand.  But during the time we were checking in, paying and getting our shoes we got HORRIBLE SERVICE!  The damn guy behind the counter must had been ticked that he had to work on TURKEY DAY but crap that's not my fault.  Why the heck do you think it's ok to give a customer an attitude is beyond me.  I decided to cut the guy some slack because maybe he didn't have enough turkey or something who knows.

There was this gold pin bonus.  You get a center gold pin and you have to tell the guys at the counter.  If you get a strike on that pin you get a free game.  WELL WE DIDN"T KNOW.  We got the strike and the guy next to us told us oh how lucky you won a free game.  Well we went up to tell them and they said "We didn't see it, so it didn't happen."  OH COME ON!!!!!  You serious?!  Why the hell didn't you tell us about it when we came in?!

In any case it's a good bowling alley but I don't think that their discounts really out weigh their HORRIBLE SERVICE!

P.S.  We went here because our friend whom joined us for Thanksgiving Dinner was a regular here and even HE said that the SERVICE is HORRIBLE but you get what you pay for.

Not a huge fan of synthetic lanes, nor not being able to edit your own score/names/etc without having to ask the front desk.  This place is well kept though so its clean and nice, much newer than most bowling alleys. They always have good deals here and they open late.  Even if the bar is closed, you can still get bottles of beer from the counter.

300 bowling alley in Pasadena is beyond better than this place but the price ratio is beyond comparison.  Its cheap here at Action lanes.  I think per game at busy hours are $4.50.  Mondays are only $1.  You can't beat that.  Its clean, well kept, and has lots of parking.

What's with all these people saying the staff here are friendly? Well, you know what? I call BULLSHIT.

Came here last night with 8 other people. They say our wait is about 30 minutes. Yeah? Well, take that 30 minutes and multiply it by 3. Yes, we were waiting an hour and a half for our lanes. We finally get our lanes and we ask for our price and the VERY impatient, incompetent, and VERY rude employee snaps at us and tells us to look at the sign. Well, mister, I'm sorry your signs are half the size of an 8x11 paper and your rates are written in tiny little words. Try a full sheet a paper or something next time. Honestly, I didn't think it was worth $4.50/game before 12am, especially after the hell we went through with people cutting in front of us on the waiting list and whatnot.

The only reason why I'm giving this place 3 stars is cause of how clean their lanes are. Their seats are close enough and their seats aren't all crammed together like other places. Also, their snack bar has some kickass fries. :)

If this place didn't have such awesome fries, I don't think I'd come here. It's such a disappointment. I'd rather pay a little more than to be treated like dirt by the FRONT DESK employees. Shouldn't they be the friendliest and the most helpful? Gotta go think about that....

I think I've falling in love with bowling again thanks to my boyfriend. He took me here to play a few games and for college students, the offer really good deals. Just show the cashier your student ID and you get a card that enables you to get a free game everyday of that month :). Great deal right??! If your not a student, its no biggie!

The games are usually cheap. During late night hours, they usually have $1 games going on which explains why this place gets packed during those times.

Saturday nights starting from 9pm till 1am, they have what they call "cosmic bowling". They dim down the lights and light up the lanes so it gives that glow in the dark illusion with lots of mainstream music playing in the background :). Very fun indeed!!

I'd say this would be a great place to go with friends, family, and whoever else likes to bowl and have a good time :) Thumbs up!!

We frequent this bowling alley a lot since there are so many specials for game prices under 2 dollars.  It just depends on the time they have their specials.  The lanes are newer than most places and it's a pretty clean alley.  Fresh oil everyday and it's pretty consistent for all the times I've been there.  Oil patterns tend to be medium to medium heavy, rarely ever dry.

They have a mini arcade, a bar, and a karaoke place inside.  Also, the owner of the pro shop is wonderful and helpful.

Cosmic bowling can be a bit pricey but pretty fun when you have a group.

There really is nothing amazing or wrong with this place. Just a standard bowling alley with a bar, lanes, and video arcade.  One cool thing is they serve Fosselmans ice cream.

One of the better and newer(read: newer looking) bowling places around town.

I was charged $3.50 for shoes on a Wednesday night. Games were $1/each before 9pm though, so all is well!

Don't have too much to say about the place, except that the shoes are mostly all in good condition, most balls are not TOO chipped, and the lanes are pretty smooth. I'm surprised this place is so well maintained over the years, actually.

Definitely come here for bowling: few other places are better. Make sure you find out when prices are cheapest though!

You can say that I'm a regular here on Monday Nights.  My friends & I always try to make an effort to meet up here and do a couple of rounds every Monday.  I think that makes me a FAN of this place.

Why you ask??  Cuz, it's only $2.00/game!!!  I know, CHEAP!!  If you need to rent shoes, it's another $3.50 on top of the $2/games.

My friends that go on other days tell me that they also have "Golden Pin" Tuesdays & Thursdays.  Meaning, if you hit a strike when a Golden Pin is present, then you win a FREE GAME.  Not too sure about the specifics on this deal, but that's another sweet deal to check out.

They have a decent array of beers to choose from too.  $4/imported beer (not bad in price).  Definitely a place to hit up if you want to bowl cheap on decent synthetic lanes.

Other than that, there's happy hour on the beer during the day.  The staff is friendly.  And the mugs are cold!

I come here every Wed, well I try at least every wed. Anyhow the people there are pretty friendly. The lanes are clean and so are the tables. Usually there's someone walking around removing unused balls and cleaning your table if its dirty. There's a lovely discount on Wed nights 2.25 after 9pm. Since its open late til 12/1 am I have plenty of time to play.
The bartender is really nice. Get to know him if you drink alot. The food service has always been on my good side, no complaints there. And the girl at the shoe rental cashier is sometimes friendly.
FYI: Since its the summer Wed nights can be packed cause there's two leagues that plays until 11pm.

Looks like I'm starting to become a regular here.  Great staff, consistent lane quality, music, bar, pro shop, restaurant, karaoke, and Fosselman's ice cream?  Oh wow.

Add in some plasma televisions to catch the Lakers and Dodgers while waiting for your turn and this place would be perfect!

I love bowling. It's my favorite sport! (Don't you dare say it's not a "real" sport.) It's fairly cheap. Staff gives decent service. Also has a bar, food place, mini-arcade, ice cream, and all of that good stuff inside. Check the website for deals. Saturday nights are cosmic bowling nights, although it's also when it's most expensive. I come to this bowling alley most often due to closeness to my home, although I honestly don't bowl as much as I would like to.

5 stars: the price, atmosphere of the bowling alley
1 star: the workers, one in particular.

during the summer they have the happy hour special of $1.50 per game if you come in from 6-9 pm on monday-wednesday. shoe rentals are $3.50 and if you forget your socks its $3.00 a pair.

i had a great time coming here with my cousins. the place is clean. and wide variety of people like young adults and adults around 30 years old.

now how it got down to 3 stars is that the workers refused to give us a 6 pound ball due to the fact that none of us look like kids, which is true. but the fact is that my cousin had a difficult time lifting the 7 pound ball and we didnt want him to hurt himself. we insistently asked for the ball but they wouldnt give it to us. you would think that after trying so many times they would...but they didnt. and i can accept that. but its the way that one of the workers said it that it didnt quite fly with the family.

all in all just have to say i had a great time there despite that worker otherwise i would have striked him out. [yes pun intended].

Not crowded, family friendly, and super cheap.

There was no line at the counter on a Saturday afternoon. There were people here, but it wasn't crowded or filled with obnoxious teenagers. The bowling shoes we rented were clean and newer looking.

You can't bring food in, but there's a decent cafeteria inside that also serves Fosselman's ice cream!
