I have moved many times in my life sometimes very far and other times just down the block. This was the best moving company ever!
They moved fast and efficiently (I expected the move to last longer and to be difficult) they made it look simple and it even rained! No damages at all! I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of a moving company.

I called Across Town Movers after a friend referred them to me and had the pleasure of working with Justin when I called to book my move. He was very nice and answered all my questions I had about the move which was a HUGE stress reliever. Everything they moved was delivered in perfect condition, including my 3D TV!!

Horrible!  It has been years since I used them but it was so awful it is my civic duty to alert others.

    1. I hired them to pack and move. They refused to pack until my guy friends, Thao & Chris, showed up.

    2. They broke a dining room chair

    3. Some items were going to storage and some to the new place. They guys had left so they stopped listening to me and decided to bring whatever they wanted wherever they wanted.

    4. Would not umload until I gave them a good feedback rating on their slip.

It is better to use a big company or u-haul and buddies

    Unprofessional, disorganized, and DISHONEST.

Across Town Movers STOLE $400 from me and it took filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the California Public Utilities Commission and my credit card company to get it back.  Sadly, this is not my only complaint.  Read on for the gory details, but the bottom line is: do NOT hire this company.

Called on 12/7 for quote for full pack & move of 2BR apt.  Was told by KH (I went back and forth on whether to post people's full names... I eventually settled on initials) that for pack jobs an in-person estimate was required.  Estimate was scheduled for 9am on 12/10.  9:15am.... no estimator.  Called the office... "Oh, they should've told you it's a window from 9-10am.  I'll call the estimator and see where he is."  Few minutes later get a call from the estimator, "Hey, they double-booked me.  Is it okay if I come between 10 and 11am?"  Few minutes after that another call, "Hey, I think I told you 10-11am... I meant 11am-Noon.  Is that okay?"  12:15pm, get another call, "Hey, I just got in a fender bender, can we reschedule for tomorrow?"  Then, I shit you not, he wanted to schedule a window for the next day.  I got him to commit to 3pm.  He shows at 3, does the estimate.  Says 5-6 hours, heavily padded.  Should be quicker.

Get e-mail from KH later that evening.  Reiterates 5-6 hour estimate and asks me what packing materials are needed.  I express outrage that the packing estimator, who wasted so much of my time, didn't figure that up.  KH assures me there will be plenty of packing materials.

Move scheduled for 12/15 at 9am.  12/14 TS from ATM calls to ask a lot of questions I've already answered.  Later that day, *after* 5pm, TS calls again.  She's finally had a chance to talk to JH (estimator).  "Sir, this move is going to take ELEVEN hours."  Apparently, the 5-6 hour quote was just for moving, not packing.  Even though every conversation I had with anyone at the company I said, repeatedly, full PACK and move.  So, now I feel stuck.  The move is 9am the next day, this business day is over... and, I gotta get out of the apartment.  I don't have days and days to schedule another mover and start all over.  She sends me (mind you, after 5pm the day before the 9am move) an actual written estimate.

Next morning at 9am movers show up.  Spend 11 hours packing & moving.

End of move, I sign paperwork and send them on their way.  Later I count the boxes myself and compare to their price. They charged me $543.75 for packing material.  I counted the boxes, they used $144 worth of boxes.  And, of course, they wasted a lot of boxes... like the box with a lampshade in it, or the box with plastic shopping bags.

Immediately fire off an e-mail to KH and TS.  In additon to the $400 I also ask about damage claims.  The movers pointed out some things they damaged, and who knows what I'd find when I unpacked the many boxes that filled my new home.  KH replied immediately, "I'll get right on this in the morning."  Never heard from him again.  Called office in the morning and got TS.  She hadn't read the e-mail.  It's been really busy.  This was a common theme with her.  Every day when I called there was some other lame excuse why the $400 theft had not yet been addressed.  And always a promise of a call back later in the day... of course, the call back never came.  One day I called and she actually claimed that I had been charged zero dollars for packing materials.  Turns out, they generated a second set of records where they re-classified my packing materials charges as labor.  I still had my original receipt in hand, of course.  I walked her line by line through every charge on it.  She agreed line by line with me.  seems like the problem would be resolved, right?  She just agreed with every number I stated to her.  Her response? "Well, I'll have to look into this more and get back to you."  I'd been blown off too many days in a row by this woman.  I told her quite simply, "No you don't.  What you need to do is issue a $400 credit to my card right now, this morning."  She hung up on me.

That morning I filed my complaints with the BBB, the CA PUC and my CC company.  This was Dec 22.  The complaint was not only for the $400 theft, but my damage claim info request had been outright ignored.

On 01/04, a credit of $399.75 was issued to my CC.  Soon after I got in the mail a form for filing a damage claim.

I don't have high hopes for my damage claim actually being paid without a fight.

With any luck, this review will prevent at least one other sucker from being ripped off by these jerks.

As we all know moving is extremely stressful, and although we started out good we had a hiccup in our communication that could have been disastrous.  Mary Boone stepped in and the move ultimately went smoothly.  All of the movers were pleasant and conscientious.  Their pricing is very competitive.  I would definitely recommend them.  Ask for Mary and tell her Donna sent you!
