Stopped by for lunch. No hookahs spotted, and so decided to sit outside. Took a break from the spicy odor and the noise prevalent inside.
Had the Kibbe as my entree. Awesome fried ground meat and lentil patties. It came with hummus and a side of tabulleh salad. Got some tzatziki sauce on the side to complement the dish.
Excellent lunch... now time for my siesta (I wish)! -

I like this location way better than the one in Ybor. I did not really care for that previous experience, but this one was a little bit better.
What I liked better was the outside area. It was very comfy and nice and airy. We sat right next to the water fountain with our dog(Therefore, nice and pet friendly patio).
This time we did not spend as much money as last time. We had saganaki(Flaming cheese) served with pita bread...Yum Yum. We also shared an athenian chicken on a pita - Breaded chicken on pita with cheese and tomato. I asked for feta instead of gorgonzola.
Our waitress was very welcoming and helpful. Definitely a better experience.
We went early evening and it was pretty dead, but you can tell there were entertainers coming in for the evening shift.Listed in: Pet Friendly…

Always delicious. And hey, they throw napkins.

On the weekend is when Acropolis shines. Live music and the occasional belly dancer this place can be fun.
Although it's a Greek restaurant I always order the Fillet Mignon, it's always tender and tasty. My wife really likes the Greek salads and always delights in it's delivery. The Tziki appetizer is always good.
Another treat is every half hour or so it the wait staff every half hour or so they join arms and dance around the restaurant throwing napkins in the air and yelling Oopah!
Enjoy! -

Ate here for dinner. Excellent food. Good size portions. A bit loud inside. We had a new server who was just learning the ropes but all good. Good prices too! The napkin thing is a bit wasteful...you'll see. :)

Went for lunch and my gyro and pita fries were delicious. I heard from the waitress that on certain nights it is a dance club atmosphere. Will attempt another trial to see what the atmosphere is at that time.

We sat out in the front terrace. And you think they would remember you. In fact, when they recommended if we would like to sit there, I almost retorted with "Will you forget us?", but didn't. Looking back I should have.
Minus that, it was an OK experience. I would recommend to not sit on the front terrace if you want service. But if you want a slow night (e.g., dessert and coffee) then front terrace is key. -

Greek food isn't so much my cup of tea, but there's some great selections here that really get me hungry. Plus this can be a fun place on certain nights of the week when it feels more like a nightclub than a restaurant.
Depending on the night that you go, you can find a totally different atmosphere. I've been there with a DJ and a full on dance floor, and I've been for lunch and really enjoyed the roast beef sandwich in an atmosphere that makes it seem like a corporate lunch spot. And I've also done the hookah nigh out on the patio, which can be a lot of fun if you're with a group.
The filet is very good, and the appetizer platter is far superior than your usual bar food "dropped in a fryer" fare. I'm probably not the best person to ask on the authenticity or flavor of Greek cuisine, but I've enjoyed everything I've tried.
The plate tossing and napkin throwing are a bunch of fun as well. It's not every evening, but on the ones they do it it can really add to the atmosphere. A definite winner in New Tampa!Listed in: New Tampa Hotspots

This place looked really nice inside. I can definitely see how it could get packed on the weekends and be a lot of fun to hang out at. We went near closing on a Monday night so there wasn't much going on. The server was really friendly and didn't make us feel rushed at all. I had a sangria and the veggie appetizer combo. The sangria was great, it was 2 for 1. The appetizer was pretty good containing babaganoush, yogurt, humus, grapeleaves, and another humus-like dish, served with warm pita. The babaganoush was very salty, but the rest of the dishes were good. Cool place, I'd like to visit again when its got stuff going on.

You have two choices for Greek food in this very complex. Louis Pappas and Acropolis, both of which are on opposite ends of the strip mall coincidentally.
It depends what you are feeling that night is how I look at both establishments.
If you want a more upscale experience (without the pretentious upscale dress code and awkwardness) go to Acropolis.
What I like: Their octopus particularly is awesome, so is their lamb, and so is their hummus platter.
The wait stuff is fun, the bartenders are nice, and the restaurant is authentically Greek (as Tampa has a HUGE Greek population, second to Cubans I believe residing in the city, and so you can imagine what the standards for Greek cuisine would be).
Overall, solid place. Go give it a try. -

My friend had her birthday dinner here and service seemed to be pretty good. Everyone enjoyed their meals, I think the only complaint was that they took someone's food before they could have it boxed up, but besides that they brought out the birthday cake and did a good job with making the birthday girl feel special I believe, even doing their customary napkin toss all around.
The time I was here before this event I was last Winter, they had the hookah tent setup and the inside of the place was completely empty, but everyone outside was really enjoying themselves and the music playing was some catchy Reggaeton music. -

Pros: AMAZING dining experience, great belly dancers, great food.
Cons: dirty restrooms.
Details: This place defines a great festive restaurant experience. Live music, belly dancers shaking it around the tables, they get people involved, no matter if they're young or old. The food is plentiful and each dish has the right touch to it. If you like meditteranean food, this is the place for it. Usually at some point in the evening, all the waiters and waitresses put their hands on each others shoulders and dance around the entire restaurant and fling white paper napkins into the air. It feels like you're in a mini carnival.
After dinner, sit outside, order dessert and smoke hookahs...there's so much fun in everything in this place has to offer. Whenever I visit Tampa, I make sure that I always visit Acropolis. Very highly recommended. -

The question you must ask yourself when you come to Acropolis Bar & Grill is can you handle too much of a good thing? While Tarpon Springs is well known for its Greek community, the Tampa Bay Area more broadly has a pretty decent sized Greek population. As a result, one would hope to find good Greek food in the area. I was not, however, expecting to find such a gem in a small suburban strip mall near Tampa Palms.
This place has a great outdoor seating area, equipped with a comfy couch, for those nice early summer evenings in Tampa. The inside is equipped with a decent sized bar area, and the restaurant has ample seating. A small minus for the small sized tables, but the food makes up for this shortcoming.
I ordered the Octopus appetizer. Fantastic. The Octopus is steamed until pink and tender, and seasoned with olive oil, pepper, and cilantro. Very tasty.
As for the entrees, I tried the lamb and beef schwarma platter. It is served with pita triangles and a fresh Greek Salad. The ingredients are super fresh, and everything was well seasoned. Beware...the portions are huge. The restaurant is very generous with the portions, and the price for quality and quantity can't be beat. Ten dollars for this lamb and beef schwarma. Also tried the pork skewers, which were a tad dry.
Service was also a plus. Very friendly. I will definitely return to this place.

I was treated to dinner here on my birthday. My friend had been here for lunch several times and thought it would be fun got dinner. Fun, young wait staff, with lots of energy and desire to please the guests. Enjoyed the music and the "Zorba the Greek" dancing by the staff and the napkin toss. Saginaki "flaming cheese" delicious as was the Spanakopita "spinach pie". My friend had the grilled chicken. Very happy with the entire experience.

Cool staff. Bomb ass food for CHEAP!!! Especially considering the perfect mix between Old greek and modern sleek ambiance. This a good treat for those who like house music as tasteful as there food. This place conquers both.

Prepare for loud music, crashing plates, and napkin throwing. This place gets very crazy and very noisy!
My favorite here is the Chicken Rhodes; fourteen bucks gets you some incredible grilled chicken breast topped with all kinds of goodness. I've also tried a few of the wraps, which are good if you're looking to eat cheaply. The buffalo chicken wrap is decent.
The food here is great, but the restaurant is a little too wild and noisy for my enjoyment. Buy--hey--if you're the kind of person who really likes crazy places, you will love the Acropolis. -

Nice locally owned place amid many chain restaurants. Food is great. Service is sometimes slow, regardless of how busy they are.

Acropolis is AWESOME! Every time I go to Tampa I make sure to go have the Aleppo Chicken Salad, the best salad I have ever eaten. Lightly breaded chicken, crisp greens, cucumbers, olives, tomatoes, fantastic Mediterranean cheese, great house dressing, and a really yummy green sauce on the chicken. The lemon chicken soup is also OUTSTANDING.
I had Acropolis cater a lunch for 20 and they did a great job (delivered right on time, setup, and the food was hot and tasty).
This place is truly fantastic! -

Terrific all around! Great humus. Great dessert. 2 for 1 sangria and margaritas. The sangria is delicious and the margaritas are decent. The music is really fun and energetic, and our server was extremely friendly, attentive, and attractive. I can't wait to return!

The only bad thing I can say of this place is that the napkin thing seems quite wasteful. I sure hope they recycle. However, when it comes to their food, you won't find better Greek food in Tampa. Their salad dressing is beyond delicious. I'm not sure if it's homemade but I always take a lot home with me because it is so amazing. The prices are not bad in my opinion even though I have had good Greek food for less. Hands down you should give this place a try!

April 16th 2008 Lunch
What a place! We were out here on business and we were treated to lunch at this fine dining establishment. From my past experience with Greek food, I never really cared for it. Maybe it is because there is not a decent one in my town. First off, this place was pretty big so I thought that this place must do good business. I ordered the Batroun Chicken Salad which is the following: Seasoned grilled chicken breast, sun dried tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, red peppers, roasted pine nuts, goat cheese, served with their own house dressing for $10 bucks. It took a while for the salad to come because everyone else at the table wanted to order appetizers. Warning: Do not partake in the appetizers if you want to finish your entree. We ordered so much appetizers that I could not possibly tell you what we ordered. What I do remember is the Cheese Flambe. You have to order this dish to really get the experience of what that dish has to offer. You get a "flaming" hot show, on top of a tasty treat! When my salad arrived after dishes upon dishes of appetizers I was greeted by a gigantic size salad! Mind you, I am a large size Asian Man with an appetite and this salad scared me! Chicken was well cooked and tasty, pine nuts added that nutty taste needed in salads, and the cucumbers and dressing really rounded off the dish. The only thing I didnt like was some sort of wrapped grape leaf with something stuffed in it. The taste of that was to strong but I loved the salad!
This place was a very memberable place to dine and I look forward to going back to Tampa to enjoy another meal there. -

We had 2 for 1 red and white sangrias during their happy hour, hummus, and a chicken wrap. The sangrias were great and I enjoyed the hummus (good but I've had better) but didn't really like the wrap.
The restaurant had a gentleman playing greek music when we arrived, which was pleasant and fun to listen to. The restaurant is also littered with napkins everywhere - cool effect but you have to wonder how clean the floor is and it seems a bit dangerous because people can slip on them. The place turns into a club at 10PM along with really loud music and arrogant bouncers. I enjoyed eating here until 10PM and was eager to leave once the music started blasting. Come before or after 10PM depending on your taste and what atmosphere you are looking for. -

Went last night for a late dinner.. and considered it a very unique experience. The food and service is incredible. I had the Grape Salad and Sangria - both of which were served in very large portions at a great price. Our drinks were never empty. This could have possibly been a 5 star review had it not been for the INCREDIBLY loud music. The music inside was done by a DJ and half of the restaurant was apparently set up to be a nightclub with dancing. It just would have been nice to be able to hear what my date was saying the whole time. I'd absolutely suggest this place for lunch, as I assume they aren't going for the nightclub approach, or if your there for dinner - sit outside, its a lot quieter. Two entrees, two sangrias came to $26, so the price was great too!

I've been to quite a few "authentic" Greek restaurants, but Acropolis is the only one that always impresses. I've been for lunch and dinner, though the ambiance during dinner is more chaotic. Napkins get thrown everywhere, loud authentic Greek music is played live, and bell dancers come around enticing for tips. The food is excellent though and it's a fun night out with friends.

Excellent food, a little dark in there and kind of slow for a Thursday evening. They threw napkins all over and the staff sang and danced. Some dude was playing music in the corner. entertaining place to eat.

I ate lunch here yesterday with my dad. The ambiance inside is eclectic and colorful; the staff is pleasant and attentive as well. I had a salmon salad chocked full of veggies, walnuts, cheese, and of course...salmon. A slightly creamy/perfect amount of sweet mango dressing to top it off made this a fresh and healthy lunch option. Our lunch also came with a lightly butter brushed four to five piece loaf of bread with a Greek dipping sauce. Reasonably priced and an overall delightful culinary experience.

Acropolis is one of Andrew's favorite restaurants. The Sharwma platter (one of the most popular dishes) is huge! Prices are very reasonable and decor is very chic. The goatcheese is amazing, the wraps are filling, and dancing and plate breaking is entertaining. You can't go wrong with Acropolis.
