Important points.....
*Paid $43 total (make sure to mention YELP DISCOUNT)
*Fast service (10-15 minutes- not a busy place)
*Clean waiting area
*Friendly workers
$43 is good considering all other places claim to charge $29.99 but add a bunch of other fees (EVA, certificate, newer model fees, etc.) totaling $45-50+. Mention the discount right away, before they ring you up the quote and have you sign. Credit cards accepted.
Both times, the guys were nice. The waiting area is pretty decent and clean with a couch and a few chairs. Everything took about 10-15 minutes if there is no wait. I never had to wait since I guess we went at good times. The 2nd time, they pointed out a cracked hose that I should repair soon, as a courtesy. Passed both times.
So, overall....very fast, affordable (w/ discount), and friendly service. -

Came here this morning a little after 8 AM and was the first in line - w00t!
A friendly young gentleman helped me out and I was in/out within 10 minutes. With the Yelp discount, the total was only $43. I didn't see Gary around but he may get to his shop later in the day. It's definitely not very busy in the early mornings so get there at 8 AM if you want to avoid the rush!

Great smog experience! Only $43 with Yelp discount. Passed on the first try. Very fast, only took 15 minutes. Super friendly employees. Credit card accepted, which made paying a breeze. It's right next to the Shell gas station. I highly recommend this place for a quick, inexpensive smog test in OC!

I searched around yelp for a good place for a smog check and found ACE. It's a really great place and the guys that work there were really nice, there was only 1 other car in front of mine so i had to wait about 20 minutes for my turn since i didn't make an appointment. I recommend making an appointment to get much quicker service because you might wait a long time for your turn.
After about 15 minutes my car was complete and passed the smog check and i got the yelp discount which came out to a total of $45! Great place and highly recommend them to everyone! -

The guy here is super friendly! :)
Took 15 mins. Mention yelp and you get $17 dollars off. It's located at a Shell gas station at the corner of Edinger and Grand.
I wasn't awkwardly waiting around either. The guy who helped me out tried to talk to me so that I wouldn't be so bored. -

That was all good.
For me there is no quality difference in smog checks. I just want to get the thing done. These guys took the hassle out. I called, made an appointment. Price was really good. When I showed up they knew I was was coming. They did it quick, and I went on my way.

My .:R32 and I were in and out in about 10 minutes. Didn't ask for a discount (yelp or otherwise), and it was still only $50 out the door. I'm not getting my cars smogged anywhere else!

I was there on May 11, 2012 at 1:30 pm, for my 97 4runner. The test was done in around just 5 minutes. I expected at least a 10 min test, as I already read other comments, but it was done even less than 10 mins. At first I assumed that my car has failed the test and they,ve not gone to the next steps, but it passed. Thanks guys for letting me know about ACE. Thanks ACE.

Good service deserves good review!
Let's be honest smog check isn't something complex or whatever, while this place is great with:
- really friendly and polite people running the place
- comfortable waiting area (with sofas and cool decors)
- nice price with the $17 discount when you mention yelp, in my case they brought it up themselves when I called and make appointment.
- fast service, only around 10 mins for the actual work.
Call to make appointment is not necessary but recommended if you don't want to wait for too long in case they are busy at the moment. -

While checking yelp for a good nearby place for a smog check, ACE had just posted a yelp discount special. So off I went to take advantage of it.
I just showed up with no appointment on a Saturday afternoon. There were 4 cars ahead of me. My car finished the check about 45 minutes after my arrival. They kept moving at a good pace and the two guys working there were very courteous, friendly, and efficient. They kept me informed as to where my vehicle was in the queue even though I could clearly see for myself. There's several comfortable seats inside the garage where you can sit and wait for your inspection.
I appreciated the yelp discount they gave me. I'll definitely use this place for my smog check from now on. -

One Word : Excelente
Two Words: Honest and Fast
Spoke to him on the phone, quoted 45$ out the door (15$ XMas Discount), 10 mins drive to his business location, job done in 15 mins and got home in 10 Mins.
Extra Info: I was impressed to know that he holds an MBA in Finance.
I highly recommend him for SMOG check. I have spent an hour to look into other places around Irvine and Tustin and almost every one of them has a negative feedback from the customers. I found the average price for smog check in this area is 50$ out the door (trash all those coupons). I was very impressed with ACE smog check reviews on Yelp and decided to go to him even if his service is a few bucks more than others but fortunately he quoted me lesser price than everybody else. I'm very happy for having SMOG test done by ACE Smog check.

Oh the great news you get when you receive your car registration renewal: "Smog Check Required". Ugh. The last place I went to, two years ago, left me waiting for quite a while and the service was less than stellar. So this year, I turned to Yelp (as one should to figure out life's most daunting questions!) Haha!!... And yet again, I was rewarded with wisdom beyond compare!!
I pulled up to ACE and was immediately greeted by an attendant, Fabian. He waved at me from inside the shop, and came out as I pulled up to the shop. I handed him my smog check paperwork and explained that I found ACE on Yelp and that I came because they were so highly rated! He instantly beamed and told me, "Oh hey! I'm glad you mentioned that! I can give you the Yelp discount of $17 off!"
He then promised me that he'd have my check done within 10-15 minutes and invited me to have a seat in the shop. (which is really a few chairs placed at the side of the garage but I thought it was cool that I had an unobstructed view of my car.) This has good and bad points. When he started the car up and pumped the accelerator, I saw all this white smoke come out of my exhaust pipe. "Well I guess I don't pass! I saw a lot of smoke!" I grumbled when he was done. "Oh no! White smoke is good!" Fabian responded, and proceeded to tell me about the whole chemical process that happens that creates it as he sent my PASS certificate over to the DMV.
Fabian was so incredibly cool and helpful. He was friendly, personable, professional, and efficient. He was just as friendly to another customer who rolled up as I was waiting.
There's a reason this place is rocking 5 Stars. And it has everything to do with how this shop is owned and operated! Thanks, FB Friends!!Listed in: Knock your socks off Service!

I took my car here during my afternoon break, while I was working right across the street. I was worried it would take a long time, but they had it done in 15 minutes. The only problem was while he was doing the smog check the car almost banged up on the wall to the right. Nothing happened to the car in the end though. I printed a coupon from their website because when I called I was told they weren't currently doing the Yelp discount. It ended up being $50 even. Very fast and friendly service!

What can I say, especially when I didn't even get serviced here...
Well, thats because the honest guys at ACE told me I didn't need a smog check. I simply misread the DMV notice and like a robot, marched straight to the smog-check guys to get what I thought I needed. The owner, a kind Hawaiian man, told me he'd be losing business for telling me this, but knew that I'd come straight back as soon as needed his service. Hes totally right. -

this is another great yelp find! my car is at the age where it needed its first smog check and my handy dandy yelp app pointed me to ACE. i called in around 9am on a saturday morning and made an appointment for 10am that same morning.
the shop leases a space from the Shell gas station on the corner of grand and edinger. when i pulled in right on time, i was pleasantly surprised to see that i was the only car needing service. Fabian and Gary are awesome and super helpful! the smog check itself was really quick and i think i was out of there in 15 minutes or so. what i really enjoyed though was that both Fabian and Gary are really friendly and we were making small talk the whole time which made the process feel even that much faster haha.
even better is that they had already quoted me with the $17 discount even before i mentioned that i found them on yelp. i was out the door for $47 which i think is a pretty decent price for a smog check? haha.
great price, great service, great staff, super convenient, fast, and efficient - i will def be back in 2 years when im due for my next check :) -

THIS PLACE ROCKS!!! I got the yelp special (it goes on for 2 more weeks - say HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, and you get a discount Smog Check) and paid $34.75.
But my screwball engine light was on so I could't PASS the smog check. Gary called around to see if I could get it fixed, and come back. Although I called Nissan, they couldn't work on it till next Tues at $105 per hour, but Gary found me a place in Santa Ana for $50.00. [See my review for 1st Street Auto Service Inc.].
When I brought the car back, I had to pay another $25 for the retest,but I PASSED!
Gary is a cool dude. We had great convo about Mid-Century Modern architecture, furniture, ceramics, paintings/artwork, etc. His shop is clean, comfy and has a great vibe. He and his employee are very cool.
YOU GOT TO GO HERE FOR YOUR SMOG CHECKS!!!!

When I went there there was one person ahead of me but like everyone mentioned about 10 to 15 minutes per customer. On my turn I noticed homies HAZE board and he peeped my J's then BAM! game recognize game, jibed the whole time about skating, sub culture, kicks and art. That made my day, I didn't really care to rush and leave but before I knew it my 15 was done.
Cool dude, quick service , laid back pooch that hangs around the shop. Over all, I'm satisfied with the reviews the yelpers done did so give your awesome self's a pat on the back. One thing you must to do is call to set up an appointment, if not then you will have to wait and I'm impatient when it comes to waiting....sometimes.

While I did not have my car serviced at ACE Smog (my fiance did), as a bystander I was highly impressed with the experience from the initial intake to the explanation of the services following payment at the end. I will definitely bring my car to ACE Smog in the future. ACE Smog provides professional, HONEST, and speedy service. For mentioning ACE's 7th anniversary in the business, David E. received $17 off his total bill. ACE Smog even electronically submitted the pass results to the DMV - which is nothing out of the ordinary nowadays, but still convenient nonetheless.
Gary, the owner of ACE Smog, is very thorough with his work and extremely easy going and friendly. After learning that he and I shared something in common (he also happens to be half-Japanese and half-Korean), we struck up a fun conversation that revolved around Korean BBQ; comparisons between Korean and Japanese etiquette and mannerisms; and racially mixed children. He pointed out that David E. and my kids would look super cool since they would be a quarter Japanese, quarter Korean, and a blend of European races (from David E.'s side). David E. and I smiled at this.

in need of a smog check and yelp saved the day again! with all the great reviews ACE had and being nearby, hubby and i decided to take both our cars there and trust in the power of yelp! well that and the fact that i found a coupon in our local ads to sweeten the deal!!!
i made an appointment for us since the ad said appointments recommended. well, we were free 30mins earlier than our scheduled appointment so i called if we could come in earlier and sure enough they said they could accommodate us. yes folks follow everyone's directions on here - located in the shell gas station where ACE rents out the garage space.
we pulled up and one of the guys had us park our cars off to the side and said to take a seat and they'll handle the rest. after giving our keys, filling out the paperwork, and being offered soda/water we waited and sat by the makeshift car seat couches. all the guys were friendly and had that laid back Hawaiian attitude...which is befitting to the garage and its hawaiian decor. after chatting w/ us about hawaii and such we were told our cars would be done soon.
got both our cars done and outta there within 30 mins. would totally recommend ACE to all my friends & family nearby.
y'know the mantra:

Yelp referred = $45 smog check. It's in the Shell station. If you pass it, just turn right and enter on the side. Don't say no one told ya.
These are the nicest, most efficient smog checkin' team of two I've ever encountered. Okay... they're the only smog checkers I've ever been to, I just got here. But these guys aren't dawdling or dilly-dallying around one bit!
They check you in promptly, sit you down in the shop, electronically send your results to the DMV and have you out of there as fast as humanly possible. Bookmarking for next year! -

This morning I had to scramble to find a FAST and CHEAP smog test only place. Fortunately, I found Ace Smog Check: I called, made an appointment, arrived, and 10 minutes later it was done. Great service too! Test with Certificate was about $40.

Very friendly staff and efficient. I had to painfully smog my car once more because I was selling it and my prior certificate literally just expired. They did their job as what every legit tech needs to do and got everything done promptly. When it started getting busy, they still were polite and observed customers coming in and acknowledged them which helps reduce the customers' impatience. Most technicians don't have that friendly factor as most just try to get the job done.

I went on a smog check date with my boyfriend since both of our cars needed to be smog tested. This place was fast and the cheapest my boyfriend could find. The guy running it (didn't catch his name) was super friendly and even gave us life advice haha. I'll definitely be back.

Let's be honest, smog checks suck. I keep my vehicles maintained and don't make exhaust modifications so I hate that California makes me get these things. After conducting some research on Yelp and printing a few coupons, I drove to the nearest smog check station during my lunch break. They were busy and quoted me at least an hour. I drove to my second option: ACE. They got me in after the current customer was finished and I was out of there in less than 30 minutes. The waiting area is adjacent to the test bay so I never had to leave my vehicle's side, and the various magazines, fish tank and dumbbells can help pass the time if you tire of looking at your phone. The technician was also a nice guy and I chatted him up during the test. Overall, a good experience for something that we all hate having to do.

Best place to get a smog check! Don't waste your time anywhere else.
They are quick, friendly, and they have good prices. The smog check only took about 15 minutes and the guys working there were really friendly.
I called a couple other places to check timing and prices, and they were all expensive and told me it would take around 45 minutes. -

This is the best place to get smogged. Great prices, the guys there are super friendly, and the service was really fast. I went at about 2pm on a Tuesday and there was nobody there, so it took about 10 minutes. I was really impressed.
If you are worried about your car passing, like I was, they will do a free retest if you don't pass.
My car did end up passing (which shocked me) and I actually joked with the mechanic about it because he was also surprised. My car is a '93 dodge and a piece of junk (it also has a record of really bad previous smog checks). I ended up paying $50 out the door, which isn't all that bad. I will definitely return to this place, without a doubt, and will refer friends to here. -

I really don't need to say much because their customer service, price, and fast turn around makes this place a winner on it's own. I came here expecting good service thanks to Yelp and guess what? I received it! Cool owner and with the Happy Anniversary discount this is the best smog place in the OC! Go there or be square!

There was one person in front of me, and it was still superfast to get in and out of there. The gal in front of me did not pass and the owner semed very patient trying to explain to her what to do.
They got me done on time, passed, and even caught a nail in my tire which they patched. Nice experience. -

Like all the other reviewers, had a great experience here a few months ago. Quick and friendly service, even though there was 1 car ahead of us. I also notice they do oil changes, but he said to call ahead for oil changes. He has someone else come to do them but he said the person is not there everyday. Even though it's a little out of the way for me, I'll probably come here for my next oil change because I feel like I can trust them!

Still great, but thanks to our positive reviews and the quality quick service, the place is pretty busy and has little parking room (Make an appointment!). That was a pain because i had to wait for two or three people in front of me this time, and I kept having to move my car so people could get through the adjacent gas station or the weird one-way loop around the gas station.

I really have nothing bad to say about this place!
I came in about 4pm on a Tuesday and there was nobody in front of me, so i was there about 10 whole mins.
The guys seemed nice; they kept offering a place to sit inside.
The price is the best I have found! I am glad they still hold their end of the deal up with the $15 discount. Unfortunately though, my car didn't pass (nothing on their end of course, my car is just a P.O.S.). Because of that, I paid $37 total. I can come back for a retest, at it will be $23 (15 for the test, and $8 for the certificate).
A definitely hats off to these guys! :) -

I found this station on Yelp and I must say, I can't say enough good things about Gary. Friendly, smart and efficient; he got me in and out in about 20 minutes - only I ended up talking to him for another 15. Got the 'anniversary' discount and ended up paying $45.00 total. Absolutely worth it! Tons of smog check stations here in HB but it was well worth the extra 10 minutes to drive over there so my suggestion is check him out!
